My problem is I can't save screenshots, I get the following error:
"Couldn't capture screenshot: Storage may be in use"

This only happens on stock ROMs not AOSP. I have formatted /data, /sytem, /cache inbetween flashing stock builds. I think it may be a permission issue or something to do with mediascanner?
Are you using an external sd?
If so remove it and try.

Not using an SD card currently so that's not issue
Screenshot save fix
This method worked for me.

Right, I couldn't find this in a search. I'm not sure if I'm posing this in the right place, so feel free to yell at me!
After installing CM10 I have noticed that The permissions for both internal storage and external storage are always set to 'Read only', this may have been occurring before I used this ROM, but I'm not sure. I am unable to delete, rename or move files. This is VERY frustrating! On my PC I can temporarily change the Permissions of my micro SD card, but only when inserted without using the phone. When plugged into my phone it goes back to bring read only.
Please help!
Thanks in advance!

I have a similar issue.
I can not delete or move anything from the internal card. It seems the card can not be set as write.
However, i think the issue is kernel related. I am running on the advanced stock kernel and I was going to flash the stock kernel when i had some time to check. I bet of you do that then the issue will be solved.
Please let me know whick kernel you are on now (I presume the kernel that comes with the cm10 download) and if this solves your problem.
It may also be the solution to the screenshot issue that does not let you take screenshots as it says the memeory s in use....

I guess that makes sense, if that is the case I'll just have to wait for a fix!

I have just flashed stock kernel and still got the same problem.
Very weird. I can delte the foursquare folder and some files in varius folders on my internal sd card, but whenever I try to delete any photos pr the camera folder in DCIM it just comes straight back....
and now those files I thought i had deleted are back....
Backing it up and formatting it next...but for some reason its saying it will take 23 hours to copy the files
EDIT
OK, I have backed up and formatted. Went into settings and deleted all content from internal sd card.
Then tried to forat it in recovery, but it failed. When i rebooted it said the internal sd card was in the wrong format so it gave me the option to format it, I did and now it seems to work. It at least allowed me to take a screenshot and save it.

Hi
Seems that there is an over the air /network update from Sony for my phone. Xperia T from phones 4 u. Foolishly (it seems) I attempted to install it, and it failed. My phone is rooted and has Cwm on having unlocked the bootloader. Since the failed update I have been unable to take photos as I get an error saying 'memory error' saving photo failed.
I tried the fixing permissions option in Cwm, then I tried restoring from a backup from Cwm which initially moaned about not being able to write to E/..
Second time around the backup restored fine but still same problem with taking photos.
Photos are saved to the internal storage right, which I have not touched..
Any ideas as to what is going on here and how to fix it?
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Nat
Ps. Assuming that the update from Sony didn't work because of the rooted/cwm/unlocked bootloader state of the phone..? It calls itself 7.0.A.3.195

what is your problem?
Is it a memory error or is it a failed update?
For one, the solution is to backup up the memory cards and format them, for the other its to run the install again from pccompanion.
Sorry hadn't quite finished writing that when it posted and you replied. (have updated it now)
Does the advice still stand?
Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app
You cannot update the phone via official methods if you have unlocked the bootloader
Yes, advice still stands. Backup internal memory card, format it in settings and restore it
Thanks, is that 'clear internal storage' option?

assuming its not clear internal storage and is in fact formatting with CWM..
however..
if I backup my internal memory card, then format it with CWM
how do i get the data back onto it?
as it wont boot if I wipe it - or at least that is what happened last time I tried
can I mount it in cwm and copy stuff across that way - because I did try that last time with no luck and ended up having to start again with a ftf
You can always format from within android. Settings> storage> format/wipe internal sdcard if I'm not mistaken

I modified the original script to work for our mount, and then put it in a flashable to flash after flashing a ROM to have storage swapped right away after booting. No need to manually move the script to /system/etc/init.d any more.
Let me know if there's any issues.
Thanks to original script author and others who figured out what mounts are which.
DOWNLOAD
Script info:
extsd2internalsd is a modification that allows to switch internal sd to external sd and viceversa. With this you can use default internal sd only for app storage and the external sd to store all apps resource and all others stuff. The result is a very big increase of installable apps on your device.
All credits to Mattiadj of xda forum for the idea and script and to mike1986 for the cmw zip.
Script Modified for U.S. Galaxy S3s by Zedomax at GalaxyS3Root.com to be compatible when sdcard is not inserted.
This is ONLY for 4.2 custom ROMs with unlocked boot loaders of course. Not tested with stock 4.1 or CM10 (4.1) You are welcome to try it though and let me know the results.

I lost all of my game data. I have TB but I can seem to get it to stick with root explore. I'll format both sdcard and the external , reinstal the zip and hope that I can get it back.

If you formated both sdcards you pretty much deleted everything you had there mate.

To me both of my cards still showing on cwm. How i tell if the job was done correctly. The attachment show no changes for internal but external is not there anymore as it reads internal space

I can't get 4.2 to read the storage in settings correctly. I put a specially named folder on my external SD card and when it shows up as internal I know it works. You won't be able to see the external SD anymore which is now technically the internal.
Formatting SD cards won't make any difference here. All were doing is telling the system one is the other.

I have my game data on my computer, I can't seem to make it stick so I can restore my games to where I was last playing.
I haven't formated anything. After I flashed the zip my data went away, but on the other hand I can see the data folders in root explorer.

To undo just delete the script in /system/etc/init.d
This isn't doing anything obtrusive guys its just placing the script for you is all.
Its recommended you do this after a clean install of whatever ROM you run.
As for the game save data I will swap the storage and then OPEN each game to make it create the corresponding folders and then restore
Does it work on 4.1.2 Mexico Retail debloated?
What if i have apps installed and my mmry card is also filled?
Seeing as how it says 4.2 roms only what do you think man? You can try it to see if it works though. You really want to do it on a fresh rom install.

Side loading from the SD card gives me problems yeah. I actually went back to default and just use the symlink method for Google music.

Make a backup of your SD card to PC/Laptop and after that try a clean format and check for errors.

Try doing a test with another card before flash again new ROM. Maybe your card is defective.
I do not know, I hdont have other ideas, perhaps colleagues to come with other solutions.

I think backing up data from sd, formating it and transfering dta back will help more than reflashing phones software. You got problem when you was using sd with other device, your phone didn't have any problem.
P.S. Didn't read all your posts, I used tapatolk. Try to repartition you sd card. There was problems with custom recoveries with some sd cards if theh was not repartitioned. Look in xda how to repartition sd card.

Same files have been automatically created in memory card by unknown app.
At first it was under "com.google.android.videos" . I had cleared using Windows PC as its was read only on Android.
Days ago now again they are found under "com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox"
When I tried to delete them my whole sd card is now read only.
Are they viruses? And how to stop them from creating themselves?
This looks more like corrupted memory to me. And that whole read only thing reminds me of what happened with my /data partition when I flashed the AOSP Lollipop build, though that really shouldn't have happened if you're on stock. Try backing up with TiBu or whatever and formatting the /data partition (actually format, not just wipe) with TWRP, that fixed it for me. Or flash a stock Lollipop FTF with the Wipe Data option checked (same thing, I believe).

Really? But the screenshot says local...
In any case, it's much simpler then: either format it, or plug in your phone in mass storage mode (or use an SD card adapter) and run a chkdsk.

Probably means your SD card is damaged or something. Had a similar problem myself once, nothing I did would fix it, and I eventually had to replace it.
