Hi all,
This type of thread exists for other places so why not for here
Sure the Nexus 4 is not officially sold (by Google at least) in Israel but it is the type of phone that is sought after abroad because that type of thing happens with Nexus devices. So lets have random (but not too random) taking about using n4 in Israel etc.
How did anyone else get their n4?
Well I am not in Israel all the time but I got my Nexus bought by a friend in UK and shipped to me in Ireland. I use Golan telecom and signal had been great.

i've bought a nexus 4 yesterday really enjoying it im from israel too i got the 8GB for 1770 shekels
Just received my N4 yesterday, from a shop called Dor Mobile. It arrived a week after my order was placed, which included Saturday and Independence day, so I am very satisfied with my purchase.
The phone is 302K, the new type with the nubs on the bottom.
Nice to see some fellow Israelis around here! Shalom lecoolam!
I got mine in December, a friend brought it and a bumper over from the US. Switched from a GS3, and absolutely loving the N4, my setup is described in my signature.
Hi everyone, I got my Nexus 4 about a week ago from a store called Mobile Gadget located in Tel-Aviv. Loving it so far.
Oh great, some replied! Na'im me'od! I was not sure if anyone had a n4

Not living in Israel, but Israeli living in the US.... I don't know if this counts . Anyway nice to see a Israeli place here.
I got my N4 2 weeks ago through T-Mobile. My workplace boos bought it for me, after using a cricket Huawei Ascend for 2 years, he said I need an upgrade... I didn't complain about ... I've been using Android tablets since the Viewsonic Gtablet, Ace Iconia 500 and my last one was a Pantech Element. All rooted and modify by me.

For me, I got root when I installed cyanogenmod, but it does not necessarily need that. But as far as I can tell (I helped a friend root etc recently), you need custom recovery which needs an unlocked bootloader. That's fine really, but unlocking bootloader wipes the device - apparently a Google security measure to keep personal info safe but its a pain if you have used your phone for a bit.
But I can do a mini guide here later cause the process is pretty easy. But as summary it is:
1) Get Google sdk and use it to download platform tools and driver
2) Backup data
3) Unlock bootloader
4) Flash custom recovery
5) Download Super SU from play
6) Get Super SU to install root and busy box from recovery
Oh and I guess you could find a toolkit to automate it.
For the Hebrew, I have been using swift key. It's pretty good. Hebrew is a bit work in progress but improves. Occasionally have problems detecting ה- ל- ב- etc at the beginning of words but generally has good swipe typing (they call it flow typing, if you are looking to activate). You can always try out the trial for a few weeks. It's the full version but with a time limit of 30 days or something.
Edit: never tried it but I guess this might work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995688

From Google's press release / blog post today:
With Android 4.2, you can add multiple users and switch between them instantly right from the lockscreen. We believe that everyone should have quick and easy access to their own stuff -- email, apps, bookmarks, and more. That way, everyone can have their own home screens, their own music, and even their own high scores.

This will solve one of my greatest complaints -- my only complaint, actually -- about the Nexus-7. I have to go to lengths to be able to hand my tablet to anyone else to use while still protecting my privacy. It galls me that not only do I have to lock down the Gmail app before handing over my N7, I have to lock down Chrome too, because Chrome will either automatically log into my account when Chrome visits mail.google.com (aka gmail.com) or will offer to do so. Same for all other Google sites (e.g. Google+). I hate that. Once JB 4.2 is on my N7, that will no longer be a concern.
This is pretty nice; although I don't let anyone else really touch or use my Nexus 7
When would they start 4.2 OTA for N7?? Nov 13 or earlier?
This would be nice.
My nexus is used as a family tablet & i'm reluctant to add my google account.
I'd like all of the goodies from the store from my account but don't want my gmail on there as the wife would go mental if she looked through all of my reciepts!

I would actually let other people use my tablet with this!
This is huge... We're beginning to roll out Nexus 7's in select areas of work (K-12 public school district) to students with special needs and/or classes who can benefit from these devices. It would be awesome to have multiple accounts, ESPECIALLY if we can lock it down. I'd love to hand the Nexus 7 out to elementary students knowing that the icons cannot be deleted, etc. Any word on the degree of limits, if any, you can assign other users?
Should be good, chromebooks do this well already , log in and have all your ****, themes, bookmarks, logins/ passwords, apps, Google drive etc all separate and personalised. Even downloads are in a user specified area, available to just that user. simple old idea, but effectively done.

:good: and I even like it with 4.2!
I love mine too! 4.2 not so much until Devs catch up and we have Recoveries that play nice with it. It also broke ability to use USB storage devices with it. I got it from playstore when it came out. It arrived the 2nd day after. 1st thing was unlock and root. Ran stock 4.1.2 until I put on a custom 4.2 (plain vanilla )rom. I previously had Galaxy Tab 7.0+. Very expensive and I thought I was getting the best. It was OK, but my 32Gb N7 beats it six ways from Sunday in smoothness, reliability. Also the GT7 had a proprietary charge and data port/cable. It was USB but you needed a converter cable for lots of stuff. The N7 is great out of the box but awesome!! when unlocked, rooted and rom'ed. Everything just seems to work better. Movies, music, email, calendar, notes, to do's games, You name it. Now if I could just make calls on it...oh, wait, with Google (Voice?) you can I am told!
Problem with 4.2 is it messed up the sd card file partitions so that I can no longer make Nandroid back-ups. I sure it will be fixed in a few days. Meanwhile, I am enjoying the crap out of this thing.
Loved it since I bought it. Eyeing the N73G for the holidays, then the Mrs. Gets the 16.

Loving my nexus 7 as well. As a apple fanboy the nexus really has impressed me. The only thing I don't love about the nexus (android problem i guess) is that none of the browsers can compare to the Safari-browser found in the ios echo system. Sluggish scrolling, accidently clicking links when scrolling never happens to me on my ipad or iphone. Google, tweak the chrome-browser and my apple fanboy days might be over.

Trust me, I have searched for almost an hour. Everyone, including android police where I originally found out about this app, just links to the play store, where it says not compatible. Also, I don't want to download from some sketchy website that will likely include some malware along with my desired apk.

Hey guys, this is a general thread for Dutch N4 users to discuss N4 related stuff. Like where you got the phone and what revision and production date/location it is, xperiences with network operators and data plans, any issues and anything else like what rom/kernel you use and anything else you want to discuss/share. Enjoy (your phone)
I went to the UK last friday and thought by myself, since i'm here, why not buy a Nexus 4? So I did, came home, wanted to boot this thing up and it didn't boot at all, the only thing it did was a red flashing light.. So, I plugged it in my computer to charge.., after a full night connected, still nothing, it didn't charge at all. And since the wallcharger from UK isn't compatibel in Europe I couldn't charge it with my wall charger.
Well, maybe the xda guys can help me with this problem,, so I made a new thread. It didn't took long untill I got response, someone said to charge it with the wall charger, but that wasn't possible obv.. But, ohh wait, maybe I can find a converter. So I went to Mediamarkt and there I bought this converter, went back home and tried it. The red light started to flash again. Thought by myself, ohh noooo, not again... Then I pressed power + volume down and suddenly it came to life. In bootloader I selected "power off" and it started charging, finally! And now it's running the latest SaberMOD without any problems and fully charged
The version I got is the 212K rev.11, cpu binning is Fast. No strange things on the phone, everything looks perfect. The only thing is the rattle from the camera, but it's only noticeable when you shake the phone, but i'm not worrying to much since almost all my phones had this (issue?).

Got mine last week. From Ibood. I wanted to drive to Germany to buy one, but i'd rather have Dutch warranty than the German one. Don't want to drive 2 hours for a repair.
Also got a 303k model. I came from a Nokia N900 so the difference is huge. I immediately rooted an unlocked the bootloader. Installed Paranoid Android today and the Trinity Kernel. Doesn't feel like a huge difference compared to the stock ROM/Kernel but has some cool extra's to make my classmates jealous.
Dutch
Why aren't we talking Dutch in the Dutch thread xd haha
Tried that once and got a warning for it.
I bought mine from the mediamarkt in Germany. Very easy, they just sent it to me. And you get mediamarkt warranty. Ralf is an hero! Its now officially available here, so warranty issues can be solved by LG itself.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago from the Saturn in Kleve.
Put some gadgetsschield protectors over the front and back.
It dident do much good, cause the back cracked after a week.

Seems as Nexus owners we're not the first to get the update this time. It could turn out to be an elaborate fake but probably genuine as Google are an experimenting company and have released two flagship devices with a vanilla Android option (although they're not "nexus"). From what I've read there doesn't appear to be any big changes (if any actually visible) and more fixes/optimisations.

From what I've read there doesn't appear to be any big changes (if any actually visible) and more fixes/optimisations.

Flashed it on my GS4 and working like a charm (and it's the international version of course). No root yet, so i'll switch back to 4.2.2 to get my apps lol (can't restore through TB Pro duh).
It's just a leak so don't worry about it. The Nexus devices will definitely get the 4.3 first.

Cool, I'm another few months away from a handset upgrade and so it definitely makes these phones an even better proposition, having access to stock android goodness. Was impressed seeing how quickly someone had put a vanilla 4.2.2 ROM together for the HTC One, then seen this and was very surprised.
Its good to see really as it shows that Google and the handset makers are finally getting why people like android so much and that is the option of choice and customisation. It may not be the exact reason for doing so but they must be conscious of it. As the last I/O conference showed, it was very developer orientated

I switched back to TW ROM for now. I found the camera app of TW to be of better quality and also if I have the S4, might as well use the features included in it.
So basically 4.3 has very little changes?? Mostly stuff no one will ever see or notice. In other words a placebo update basically to keep flash happys content until key lime comes out! LOL
Yay!

Majority of what is updated won't be frontend. Just additions to the internal workings of android. Maybe some slimmed down code for some Google system apps and such.

Hahaha of course, its a new version of android. , also the pics I posted are a fake, just change your version number in build.prop and reboot. Even the easter egg reads the build.prop.

Edit: just read last post lol. I didn't know the easter egg read the build.prop.

My guess is 4.3 is just bug releases and something to keep us occupied before key lime pie

Oh yeah, battery life on 4.2.2 is soooooo terrible /sarcasm
I routinely get 8 to 10 hours of screen time depending on how much standby there is.
I never said it was bad i just said i wonder if it will be better, no need for a stupid comment
