It's just a sticker signifying that the phone has NFC capabilities. You can remove it.

Its the NFC sticker and yes it can be removed. its just to show you where the sensor is. i asked the same question as you when i got my phone.

When we got our phones on the back there is a a small square where the NFC is, before i start peeling is that a sticker or is that something that needs to stay on?

My NFC sticker became scratchy and ugly.I was thinking of removing it.
Anyone did this?

I took mine off straight away, I dont think it has a use other than letting you know it has nfc. It came off pretty easy. Pretty much fell off.

Thanks for the tip. The sticker became ugly after only 2 days. Nice to read that I could take it off. The back looks a lot better without.

I really don't understand why sony puts those ugly stickers on the back. Ok, it has NFC, we got it
Maybe they thought it was too damn sexy without those?
I think it's better then embedding the nfc logo into the phone.

Same reason why every company thinks it's necessary to put all those stickers on laptops in front of the keyboard... Very annoying for sure!

+10, yep I though this had something to do with the workings of NFC, because it is hardly a sticker . When and if I remove the rear screen protector I will remove it.

No. The NFC unit is built into the phone, removing the sticker doesn't cause any problems.

Yes you are right! NFC has a pretty low range than Bluetooth and placing it at the right spot should trigger the beam, slight movements can cause connection termination (i mean even a slight movement) so it's appropriate to show people where the chip is actually placed so you need not touch everywhere and see. That's what for the sticker is and after you know where it's placed, you can remove it safely.. I did too, no probs in that!

I'm glad they didn't, the NFC logo is one of the worst logos ever. I would have been very unhappy if I couldn't remove it
Hahaha wtf, for about 2 months I used to think that the NFC sticker on the back was the actual NFC chip and I was panicking because it kept getting scratched, then just about 5 minutes ago it sort of moved to an angle and I was like 'wtf, pretty sure a chip isn't meant to move like that'. Then I knocked it with my nail and it just fell off. Now I feel like an idiot haha, for the whole time I was doing the best I could to take care of it, now I've realized I've spent 2 months looking after a sticker...
Dears,
just curious, does anyone have some idea abt what the small opening at the bottom is intended for? not sure how to describe what i mean, so pls see the enclosed picture.
I dont think it does anything, if you look close enough its just nothing.
and the paper says nothing about it: Xperia Z Parts Name

I always just assumed it was a noise cancelling microphone to filter background noise in calls.

The noise cancelling microphone is the little hole next to the camera, btw I always had the same question about this little thing on the bottom

Hmm is one of those things which is probably the most simplest
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2
the answer is simple
If you guys review all the side design
the bottom is the only side where both ends is ambidextrous (or something to that effect)
with each end have the same roundness
the sides and top have this plates that can only it a certain way,
one side is rounded while the other is flat
the bottom, without the key and hole
would mean possibility of reversal/wrongly stuck onto the unit
thus the hole (not exactly a hole, more like a key and hole)
is for installation process
I always assumed it was for this purpose? (Lanyard)

Theyre talking about a different hole, see picture in 1st few posts
So? Any conclusions?
I think i once heard that this is the hole they use to inject/remove pressure into the phone to sort of create a vacume, one of the things that make is dust/water proof?
i got the xz now and i want to test if its new becouse its looks like its been used
Er, did you buy it new.
From me to you.
If you have the 'Diagnostics' app, you can look in the 'Phone facts' section to see the running time of the phone.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2
i got it replaced and i see fingerprints on the screen so i dontknow if its a repearid phone or new
Replacements are often refurbished units. As long as it works and isn't marked why would you care? What's the difference?
becouse they promised me a new one
They gives you used phone cause they know you don't like xperia z

Mornin'! (at least here in PL)
Yesterday when i was in jacuzzi i decided to take some underwater pictures using my Z. Ive heared it isnt designed to be submerged, though of course SONY promotes it as it does. Ok but lets move to a problem. After first picture taken accuracy gone bad, the water was clean but pictures of even close localised things were blurred. I remember someone here on forum showed his underwater pictures and they were great actually. Mine were not worth a penny... After bathing i had swab the water all of my device and then i saw the mist on the interior site of mirror of camera. Now its already gone but had been there for few houres. Camera still works perfect after mist had gone, no problems there, however mist is an evidence of water coming somehow through. All of the indicators are white, so its not where the problem comes from. So my question is are you guys facing with such a thing after bathing, is it normal or is it as i said evidence of malfunction? Next question if i bought my Z from polish network Play does it mean warranty is ensured only by them or i can take it to SONY Center and they can fix up this issue too?

Some people are def. confused. XZ was never designed as underwater camera. Keep it safe and out of water.

I hope so, anyway Im going to take it under warranty to check whether everything is ok. And back to my question: can I take it directly to SONY Center rather than taking it to local network provider who sold me my phone?
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Probably. Along as you have proof of purchase. But if there's nothing wrong theres nothing they are going to find. And probably charge you for wasting their time
