[Q] Samsung Galaxy S I9000 PDroid ROM? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been looking on your site for a good 6 hours for a ROM that supports PDroid can anyone give me a link to one I have a galaxy s i9000! Thank you for your attention.

I don't think any of the roms natively support PDroid.
I have never used PDroid, but from its descriptions it seems that you can patch any AOSP rom yourself.

Aosp?

Pardon my noobieness Aosp? I tried patching a stock deodexed rom like the description says but when I flash the patch it gets stuck in bootloop. Any tips?

Stock deodexed is not AOSP. AOSP means android open source project. Stock means rom made by Samsung that contains proprietary codes. You want to use roms such as cyanogen mod and android open kang project AOSP.

Can you help me?

Could you maybe get me an aosp rom that supports pdroid or an already patched one? Please and thanks for your help.

Just look inside the development section. Any thing that says android open kang or open source is AOSP. Cyanogen mod is also AOSP. None of the are patched so far as I know

CyanogenMod and custom ROMs are two different things. It is true that you can create custom ROMs based off of the CyanogenMod builds, but since we don't have those stable builds, the devs create ROMs based off of the i9000 etc. ROMs.
The CyanogenMod builds are built from scratch; that is why we don't currently have a stable CM build. Once a stable CM build is out, though, there'll be some awesome ROMs based off of it.

Difference between aosp and aokp.

Hi all,
This is a noob question. What is the difference between an AOSP rom and an AOKP rom.
Thanks in advance

Aokp is aosp. Android open source project. Aokp is just the name. Just a rom based (kanged on Google ics and other aosp from source like cm9/cna

No.. pure android is vanilla..
Aosp like any other open source project adds improvements and twraks to pure android source which is what aokp, cm9 cna do. making them aosp . aokp just a name...

so in short
AOSP - Basic Android Source Project (no Customizations) like Oxygen
AOKP - Improved versions of AOSP like CyanogenMod??
and what's the difference between aosp roms and stock roms, besides e.g. preinstalled samsung apps?
aosp = android open source project
aokp = android open kang project (link https://sites.google.com/site/androidopenkangproject/)

It's not really about the Samsung/Sense apps more about the whole "layer" that i.e. Samsung/HTC put over the basic rom, (touchwiz and sense in the case of samsung/htc).
So if you'd take those layers/apps away you would just have the basis which is just AOSP.

Pa is ported by imalka and its his development.Same in miui i think....
Original development doesn't means it should have original kernel. its abt the development....

Nope, he's linked the PA link to Utacka's PA,which is built from source, thus qualifying it as development.
Also, MIUI is based on a completely different kernel and base i.e. it is very different from the Samsung ones so it is development too.
Off-topic though, both the ROMs are in the Android Development forum not in the Original Android development forum. The custom ROMs,no matter how they are made/what are they based on,go to the Android Development.Only the ones which are truly 'original' i.e. new ideas go to the Original Android development.

AOSP vs. AOKP

Does anyone know what the difference is between AOSP and AOKP?
Sent from one of the few remaining HTC Incredible S'
Well aosp is code taken from Google itself and aokp is the code plus other kanged (taken from other people) things best description I can give I'm sure someone can explain better
Aosp = android open source project
Aokp = android open kang project
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
Basically AOSP means pure android, compiled from AOSP Google source.
AOKP ROMs are based off AOSP, but include many mods and tweaks. Some come from all over the place, hence the name 'kang'. They are compiled originally from AOSP sources but highly modified.
AOSP is pure Google android
AOKP is a custom ROM project, like CM based on AOSP

Tweaking with something like Xposed has 3 consequences:
1- it's not stable and always Buggy
2- you can't get all features on 7.1 with Xposed
3- something u need basic and simple and sometimes faster rom like aosp u can't easily remove parts from os using Xposed
P.S : next nougat rom will be aosp too ??? only matter is time and probably camera is fixed in next released version of nougat
