Not currently....The chances of this may be improved when/if S-OFF becomes available.

What's your objection to buying the unlock code? Maybe your carrier will supply it if you tell them you're travelling abroad.

call your carrier for the unlock code. say you want to send your phone overseas as a present or you are about to travel overseas. they would gladly send u an unlock code within 24hrs.
Once it's unlocked, does that mean that it can be used on AT&T and T-Mobile? Or does it only use it for that one?
Thanks for the info, y'all.
Unlocked means you can use a sim card from any carrier you want
Problem is that I'm not in USA, and do not have T-Mobile sim (number, contract, whatever). Thank you anyway I'll continue to search.

Well you can pay to get an unlock code. Or if you know anyone in the states that has T-Mobile and give them you IMEI number and have them get you an unlock code. There is no generator or firmware that will do it as of now.
I've used code from htccode.com and it works! Thank you!

I've used cellunlock.net to unlock my Incredible S.
BTW, if you are interested - I am selling my unlocked (originally Bell branded) IS. I'm currently using it on Fido!
I realize it's not what you're asking, but just so everyone knows, if you buy a phone from the same carrier you have service with then legally they have to unlock the phone for you if you request it directly.
I have done so before with phones on ATT & TMobile and never had to pay or had any issues doing so. I just called them up and explained that I wanted my phone unlocked and they did so.

I'm not sure the legal implications are the same between US and Canada. Also, I'm not sure that carriers will give you the code immediately. Some of them will ask you to wait for some time or expect that you are a current customer before giving you the code.

Yes, Canadian carriers generally require a minimum of 30 days service before they will unlock a phone. Plus they charge $50 (or more) for the unlock.
maybe u need a XTC chip to unlock and s-off Incredible S ...
Sim unlock is around $20 online
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Can someone tell me if I unlock a carrier Locked IS online and after Flashing custom Roms, will it ReLock again or it would remain like a factory unlocked set?

No flashing a custom Rom will not undo a SIM unlock.

[Q] SIM unlock

Hi,
i will get a HTC ONE with swisscom SIM lock i guess. Is there already the possibility to do an unlock?
Want to use it with a German Provider.
Thanks,
Stephan.
Sorry to have to break it to ya, but sadly there is no way (atleast I haven't heard of any way) to unlock a simlock on the HTC One .. yet

Can't you just ask them to unlock it for you? Usually almost all network operators unlock devices when you have a proper reason. I myself use the excuse of having to travel on another country for them to unlock it for me.

Always. There's usually a fee but it is still usually cheaper to pay to have it unlocked than to pay extortionate roaming fees in Europe/wherever.
Tried 4 online sites but no one that i have tried has the unlock codes. I am on 3 UK and have to wait 30 days for them to do it. Not much use when I am going to San Francisco very soon.

instead of checking online try your local cellphone repair store
Thanks for your replies. I will ask the provider if it is possible to unlock the device .

Options for Unlocking AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 GM-900A

Hey Everyone,
I need assistance with unlocking my smartphone; it's an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 GM-900A. I did a little research on the internet and it's my understanding that unlocking a Samsung smartphone linked with AT&T is a bit more difficult than it already is with other companies. I also saw a lot of sites that offer "unlocking" services for a certain price. Before I decide to do that, I wanted to know if there were any others options or which site is most reliable. From what I've seen and read, it seems that this forum is the best option for seeing if this is possible. Appreciate any assistance you guys can offer.
I am not familiar with unlock sites but have heard mixed reviews on them. Those sites can only unlock the sim card, not the boot loader. Just thought I would put that out there since you didn't specify what kind if unlock you were looking for. I recently submitted a sim unlock through AT&T for my s5 since I am out of contract.

Unfortunately, mine is still under contract but I would like to unlock my smartphone so it can be used with another carrier. This is the type of unlock service those sites are saying they can provide, right? I've also read and heard mixed reviews on the internet, which is why I came here in hopes that I can get additional info on this. Thanks for your prompt response.
Just use att they will unlock your sim

What's the difference between that and sim unlocking? Any disadvantages on just having the sim unlocked and not the bootloader?

Thank you. I checked it out and it doesn't seem to support "Galaxy S5 SM G900A"; the only thing close to that is "Galaxy S5 SM G900F". Appreciate it if you can suggest another site.

I'm unable to do so because the smartphone is still under contract.
Call ATT. New laws made all carriers be (generally) required to unlock their SIMS not bootloaders under some conditions. see link https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/cell-phone-unlocking-faqs
If u are under contract they will make u pay but u then meanwhile u can use another carrier. Here is a link to an unlock service. https://www.doctorsim.com/us-en/unlock-phone/samsung/
Good Luck!

Thanks for the link; I looked over the fine print and unfortunately, I don't fall under those conditions as I am under contract and unable to pay in order to get out of it. :/

They serve entirely different purposes. Sim chooses carrier (ATT,etc). Bootloader chooses what will be started when phone is booted ie system(rom), recovery(TWRP etc), bootloader itself. Bootloader unlock means changes can be made to what will start under different boot requests. No disadvantages to just unlocking sim, often used for foreign travel where your regular sim will not connect. Many times carrier will unlock SIM LATE in contract for foreign travel reasons.
You can try using www.unlockradar.com if you want to unlock your S5. I have a cell phone repair store and I've been using them for a few months and never had any problem. Their customer support is very responsive. https://www.unlockradar.com/unlock-samsung/galaxy-s5-sm-g900a

Are you under contract via a next plan thru at&t? If you are planning to unlock to switch carriers I imagine you want to end service with at&t. If so they will want you to pay for the phone in full or return the phone. If you don't pay & keep the phone I'm pretty sure they blackball the imei so it can't be used by any carrier. So what's your end goal here?

Yes, I'm under a contract that has been suspended and told them that I am currently not able to pay but also am not able to get another phone due to financial reasons. They said they understood my situation but cannot unlock my phone due to the contract and that once I am able to pay, they will provide me the unlock code if I still want it or wish to continue using their services. I guess what my end goal is to not have to pay for another phone when I'll only use it for medical reasons and once I am financially stable, I can go ahead and pay and probably continue with AT&T. I see your point and understand the predicament I have. I'll just have to wait and see. . .

No problem. I just am trying to see if you'll end up paying to get it unlocked then have at&t block the phone from being used. Good luck.

ask T-Mobile how much money it would take for them to consider the device 'paid off' and then at that point would they unlock it to other networks and allow bootloader unlocking ?

I'm not even in the US mate, threads I've seen on reddit say that when they unlock after you've paid up the bootloader unlock option appears.
one guy who just bought a phone asked to return it and told them he wanted a phone he could root instead, they agreed to unlock his bootloader for 2 weeks rather than have him cancel his contract.
just a normal call to customer service to start with should be enough.
ask them about what it takes for the phone to be paid off and will the bootloader be unlockable at that point. if your phone is also less than 2 weeks old you can try playing the 'I wanna cancel card' too.
if you're locked into the contract and can't cancel it now they probably won't listen to you unless you are offering to pay for the cost of the phone.
