Hi all, I have a rooted stock ROM xperia z and I am not able to install apks such as better battery stats.
After downloading with chrome and running it, the install button is not responding when I press it, only the cancel button works.
I have enabled installation of 3rd party apps via security settings. I have also tried to install via ES file explorer but install button still does not respond. Any ideas why, plus ways to solve?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone with the same issue or knows of a fix?

No such issue. Try doing a factory reset via Sony update service
I have done so but the problem still remains..

Reinstall your market or try fix permissions with rom manager.

I have the same problem....Any help,pls?
hey guys!! facing a weird problem here.. a few days back I saw the call record option on Z forum & I thought I'll give it a shot on my ZL. My phone is rooted with a locked bootloader & CWM installed. While replacing the files for call record function, as soon as I pasted it in the system folders, my phone hit a reboot. I then tried the zip file instead in CWM but it reboot ed again halfway while booting... I thought maybe the feature isn't compatible and that's why it would be rebooting like this.. But now I realise that I try to update anything then the phone behaves the same. As soon as I give RW permission to ES file explorer it reboots. The worst of all, I was trying to install the .253 OTA update & even that couldn't install and I guess it's for the same reason.. Also whenever my phone boots up, it shows the that the phone is updating.. I need to rectify this.. any inputs guys? please help!!
I am indeed sorry to post it on Z forums but I had no other option as I was getting no support on this in ZL forums.. can anyone help pls?

Try rerooting, failing that flash your backup or start from scratch.
From me to you.
Guys, pls help! I have Sony Xperia Z smartphone with Android 4.2.2 OS. Whenever I want to install some Android apk which is not from Google play store, a problem occurs. This is how I do it: I transfer Android apk from my computer to my sd card and then I locate it with Astro file manager, but when I start an installaton by pressing option "Install", nothing happens. It's just like that option "Install" is frozen. What confuses me the most is that I've already enabled the option "Unknown sources" (Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store)
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thx!
If you are using any apps like Twilight that create a screen filter, then you need to deactivate them before installing an apk (or in the case of Twilight, activate the app filter in its settings).

Now that truly is a strange issue. My suggestion Sony gave me when I called em up when I had a similar problem, back up your data and reset the phone. Simple as that.
Didn't read your last sentence.

Have you tried putting them on internal memory instead of the SD card?
I have seen it where for whatever reason (usually the type of format that the SD card was done with), some APK's just will not install from the external SD ..
Also, maybe try a different file manager than Astro ...
What apps are you trying to install? if all else fails at least try putting file in system/app then reboot phone

This is true. I tried it with installing screen filter and enabling it. Can't install apps when enabled.

In settings, apps, all
You may have to force close or disable before you can uninstall. I had to do this to one app yesterday to be able to uninstall it.
Every time I try to disable it I get this message!??

Go into settings - security - device administrators..
And untick that app which you have installed. click on deactivate.

you can install from sd card or you can not install from sd card...
goto security and allow unknown sources to be able to install apps that come from other places than google play
