The speakers are way too loud even on lowest volume when I am alone in my room. I don't need the speaker to be blasting at me when im playing Angry Birds or something. Anything I can do about that?
Update: Trying out an app called Fine Volume Control 2. It was the only thing I could find that did what I want, unfortunately, it seems extremely inconsistent and buggy.
Update 2: Uninstalled Fine Volume Control 2, wayyy too inconsistent and buggy. Still looking for any suggestions.

try volume control apps, like volume control +
Having the same problem. Feels a bit loud at the lowest volume

I cant guarantee this works as I am STILL waiting for my HTC One to arrive here in Australia but when I had my aweful Galaxy Nexus I used a app called Volume+ to turn the volume up as it was so low you couldn't hear it ring. I remember the app also allowed you to turn the volume down. Worth a try.
Volume+ doesn't work for JB so useless for me.
Volume Control+ seems to be just an app with all the volume control sliders in one place which is useless.
There's a update to fix the volume to make it lower don't know if it's out yet it is if you got a custom rom

Ugh... I wished they'd release their fixes already. There is this volume thing and also the 3 dot menu thing.
Bump. Still looking for a solution.
I remember reading about the Music Volume EQ app (on, I believe, Phandroid?) and people said they had some luck with messing with the equalizer settings on this app to turn the volume down for the One. Haven't tried it for myself though.
Yes, if you use the Music Volume EQ app and turn all the equalizer settings down to -15 and the volume down to 1, the speakers are much more quiet!
Yep, using Music Volume EQ for now. Still not as good as having a integrated option, but can live with it for now.
They should of made a slider volume instead of in steps!

One of the few flaws in the captivate, I think, is the inability to control both the ringer sound and media sound with the volume buttons. Upon searching for a tweak for this problem, I got half a million results, all talking about the button combos used in flashing roms and various modes. If anyone knows of a mod for this, it would be much appreciated, and if not, I'm up to help someone make one.

not sure what you are asking for because, at any normal time press the volume buttons and it controls Ringer volume. When you play media and hit the volume buttons it Controls Media Volume. press them durring a call and it changes in call volume....
or to change any volume at any time...
Settings>sound>volume
yes but some times im watching a movie or something, and I exit out of it, if I want to play it in a class or in a crowd I have to suffer an awkward moment of loudness before I can turn it down. On an ipod, I can turn all sounds down in a second without worrying about something going off. Maybe its a little picky but its just one of those things that's nice to have

Audio Manager app.
My Bionic's lowest volume using headphones in calls is, unfortunately, still incredibly loud. I've used the volume rocker while in call to bring it down to its lowest setting, but that's still pretty loud.
Is there any software which can affect the call volume? An alternative dialer? I'm rooted, for what it's worth. I don't want to switch to a different type of headphones, but I can't really take this volume.
Thanks!

I searched the market and there are some apps the control volume, but they do not mention the range. They are free. So you might try them. Search "Volume Control".
I know you don't want to switch headphones, but here are in "in-line" volume controllers that you can add under your earphone plug.
Good luck
Unfortunately, all of the volume control apps that I've tried (by searching volume control as you suggested( have only been able to adjust in the same 1-7 point scale as the rockers. Really, I need a volume app which allows me to select a volume between 0 (silent) and 1 (the rocker's quietest setting.
I may look into on-headphone attenuators, but that's trouble too because not all calls are so loud.
That said, thanks for the response!

maybe...hold the phone farther away from your ear?
Wilbur,
I'm already hanging the earbuds from my ears pointing away to get down to a reasonable level with some conference call services. Sadly, it's a bit more complex than that
I too have been looking for this...Ive tried about 4 or 5 apps today. None of them well allow a setting between 0 and 1.
I am using a single mono AD2P headset, and trying to get the volume of the music a little lower. I just want it to be there kind of as background music, but it is too loud.
I've just gotten off the phone with a second-level tech at Verizon who said that variable call volume will be addressed in the next Bionic software update. He also said that it's currently in beta, and will drop Mid-November. Sorry to bump my own thread, but this is the first time I've gotten anybody at Moto or VZW to admit this was even a problem.
This isn't a bug, more of a ICS/JB feature that is somewhat annoying.
I have sensitive ears, so whenever I listen to music on my phone, I keep the volume at one unit above muted. If that sounds confusing, think of it as muting the phone, then pressing the volume up button exactly once.
I noticed that at this setting, the volume is considerably louder than in CM7 at the same setting. I understand many people actually appreciate this, but in my case, it's loud enough that I end up having difficulty hearing external noises, i.e. someone calling my name from across the room, or the doorbell ringing.
Is there any sort of app or setting that I could use to fine-tune the volume even more? I would like something that is analogous to the in-line headphone volume control I use on my PC. On my PC, I use the Windows settings to put the volume at 20%, then I use the rotary slider on my headphone wire to fine-tune, adjusting up or down depending on whether I'm on skype, playing a game, watching a movie, etc, without changing the Windows volume from 20%. If there's some way to do this on Android, that'd be great.
You ought to be able to do that, using DSP manager or a media player with an equalizer, such as PowerAmp.
...
Yeah dsp manager is your best option. Easy to use as well

Forgot to check back on this thread. Thanks guys, DSP Manager's equalizer worked.
Does anyone else notice the volume steps are a bit coarse?
I mean, on the lowest volume setting I disturb others in a quiet room..
Is there a mod for finer tuning on the volume available?
I feel like I'm the only one who thinks there should be a mod for the device especially because of the dual speakers!
Any input appreciated

I think the main problem is the volume level of the notification files are not all the same. It's annoying when you have volume at the first step, but you'll receive a text and not even hear it, but then an email would come through and it's ridiculously loud! 2013 and we still don't have files that are all the same volume levels

I ran into this nuisance as well. The external speaker volume is much too loud for my tastes, even at their lowest setting. Accordingly, I left my alarm volume at its lowest setting to match, figuring it'd be plenty loud enough. Nope! Slept right through it; didn't wake me up once.
I got a lot of good suggestions in my weather app app post.
Let's hear your thought on Volume apps ... ones that work well with Lollipop ... have new material design.
Thanks for your input
Not sure what volume app means. For better sound viper4android is the bomb. Havnt had it work right yet for this phone but I've seen other who have.

I have used viper prior for the nice boost.
What I need is app for controlling All the Volume levels as built in sound controls always leave something to be desired.
I've always used AudioManager, it continues to serve me well on lollipop. I mostly use it for volume profiles.
I really want something for the volume via Bluetooth. it's really low I can't stand it anymore
I remember an app named volume+ that worked well to higher the volume of the phone but not sure if it still works. I hope they come up with a flashable zip to boost the volume. My headphone volume is really low.
