Hi there:
EDIT: To Simplify my Question....once a phone is unlocked using an unlock code...can any GSM typically be put in and used with the phone? Example, if I go to a foreign country and buy a temporary sim, can I put that phone in my soon-to-be-unlocked-through-unlockCode htc one?
Yeah, for the most part.
If you have CDMA version, no.
If you're going to Japan, you'll struggle to buy a SIM.
But yeah, in general it works if you just want GSM.

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking to buy an HTC Diamond over eBay, and have question about SM unlocking in my mind:
- Do I need to have a SIM card, which the device currently locked in, to unlock it or is it possible to execute the unlocking software without a SIM card installed?
They usually sell phones re-branded and locked to a specific network, and not every network operator works in my country. For example, if I buy a phone locked to Orange, it will be impossible for me to unlock it, if I need to run the unlocking software while an Orange SIM is inserted.
Thanks in advance.
Well I'm not completely sure that you need the sim to unlock it, but what I am sure about is that if you buy the HTC Diamond (not the T-mobile version, or whatever other carrier offers it) it will come unlocked. HTC simply makes the phones and if you buy one of their versions it will be unlocked as a standard.
Hopefully I helped answered your question instead of wasting time for both of us
every phone i have had to have unlocked can be done without any sim card in it
Thanks for your replies and sorry for a late response.
I have already bought my phone and waiting for its arrival. It is an Orange branded device, which is unlocked with a software obtained from unlock-htc.com, according to the seller. So, my problem with the SIM unlock seems solved
I think the bigger question is, once you get it unlock can it be used with AT&T or T-mobile 3G frequency.

We don't have those network operators here in Turkey. In fact, we don't have any 3G network operator at all
If we think that people are discussing about 4G technologies like LTE in north America and Europe, we can easily say that cellular network providers are evolving very slow in Turkey I don't think I will have problems with our current old school GSM providers with a SIM unlocked device.
I have to wait and see of course, I will let you know the results.
going to be in the US for the summer and am strongly considering buying a HTC One.
first thing i will do is root it.
problems..
when i come back to europe am i going to be able to use the phone orange even if it is the sprint or at&t version?
mainly what i want to know is if the sprint version for example is locked on sprint just by software or also by hardware..
if i buy a clean/bad ESN one will that be in conflict with the carriers in europe?

we have s-off now and there is a sim unlock thread opening now so you should be ok. im not positive about this
Hi, I am new to the forum and this is my first post.
I have found this thread by @samwathegreat that will allow us to sim crack the Sprint phones. Thanks to him!
I want to buy this phone and you might have noticed that it is locked to Sprint.
I want to use it in India and my question is, since the phone doesn't come with a sim or a subscription, will I able to crack it using @samwathegreat method and insert an Indian sim and use it on Indian networks?
ie,
1. Does the phone need to be activated with a Sprint sim initiitally and then use the crack to unlock it?
or
2. I simply buy it and crack it using the sim crack method? (ie, no sprint sim; no activation on Sprint network)
Since I am not a US resident I am confused in this regard please guide me.
Hi everyone,
i got a Sprint HTC One M8 from ebay, it is new but i was planning to use it on AT&T network, since it have a Sim Card Slot. Furthermore, even though i'm living on the US now, i'm from Brazil and i was planning to use the phone there as well.
And now starts the problem.
I called the previous owner, asked him to contact sprint to make the sim unlock procedure. He did so, providing me the MSL for the phone. The next step, he said, was to "flash" the phone on AT&T in order to get it connected to their network. I tried several sims, even bought a new one and activated it but with no success.
I spend almost 2 hours on the phone with the sprint's international support, and all they said was that they did everything that they could about unlocking my phone and now i should contact AT&T.
I'm afraid of staying on this infinite loop and i want your opinion.
Does anyone in fact unlocked their SPRINT phone to use on another GSM US carrier? If yes, what did you do? Because i'm planning to return the phone and ask for my money back.
BUT, with the "International Unlock" i should be able to use the phone on ANY international carrier? Because if that is the case, maybe i keep the phone to use when i go back to Brazil.
Thank you very much!

On the CDMA version of the M8, it lacks the LTE bands needed for Domestic carriers. You can use it overseas somewhat, but not too well. If I was you, I'd grab a Droid Turbo for ~$200-$250 off eBay. It just recently got its bootloader unlocked finally
Ive seen that using a Verizon phone makes flashing/rooting difficult. But i have the reverse problem and I cant see to find any answers.
I have an international HTC One M7, CID tmob101, it is from germany.
I live in the US, my normal carrier is verizon, and i would like to take my current sim card (verizon) and use it in my HTC.
I have already unlocked it if that helps, some input on to if its even possible would be nice.
Cheers
