not the only one. Check and see if you can disable it by going in to settings -> apps -> All -> Power. I can't get rid of it sadly. :/
The only way to permanently remove it now is by rooting.
To temporarily remove it, you can ford close the "Power" app from the App info screen.
What i done was hold it down then stop app it's now gone but can use it in settings
Settings, apps, all, power, turn off notifications, yes

This doesnt work on non rooted devices. The "show notifications" option is greyed out and cannot be unchecked. At least thats how it is on my device running 1.28.401.7.

If you are rooted, you need to either flash a ROM that has that option enabled, or install a mod (like this) to enable it.

I thought ARHD had it. I'll check the link out though.
Thanks,

For non-rooted (stock) phones, you can't remove it. You can bypass it by "Force closing" the Power app. But it will come back after a reboot or if your battery goes down to 14% & Power Saver turns on.
As for disabling it, I didn't try, but would expect that you will loose the "Power Saver" function & the options under Settings>Power. ("Power" will be completely gone).
the best way to disable the notification while keeping the power saving app running is to disable the notification receiver activity in the power app.
must have root access
1. install and open an app 'system tuner'
2. click system and wait until all of the apps are there
3. scroll down to 'Power'
4. tap power and then tap details
5. scroll down to "receivers"
6. untick "powersaver.PowerSaverNotificationReceiver"
7. reboot

I don't know why but the vibration feedback has stopped working when I am writing messages etc.
Is this a known issue? In the settings it is checked on vibrate on keypress..

Go to the Power Saver in the Notification area. Have you got a tick in the box? If so untick it.
Yeah I realised power save settings were still on after I froze power app to remove it from notification drawer.
It's working now. Thanks anyway mate

Just FYI, you can remove the notification without freezing the power app. First, unfreeze the app and you'll see the notification re-appear. From there, long press the notification and hit 'App Info' (You can also get to this from settings -> apps -> all). Uncheck the box to "Show notifications" and it will go away and not prevent you from using the 'Power' menu.
Hi all.
Does anyone know of a way to turn on the Power Saver with 1 click from a shortcut on one of the home screens?
It's in the extended quick settings of most custom roms, so I know a 1-click solution must be possible, but couldn't find anything obvious on how to do it. I'd just like it as shortcut on my home screen (& also as a result be able to run it from tasker!)
Any ideas?
Col.
Bump...
Still can't find a way to do this.
As I said above, i'm sure there must be a way to do it, otherwise how could custom rom's extended quick settings (ViperOne rom is a prime example) activate it with one click
Any ideas anyone?
Maybe there's a shell command that would work?
With 4.2.2 you can activate it only in settings or with the viper in the EQS.
But also in other rom if you will change the EQS number
Two fingers swipe from notification bar and 1 click-Power saver on/off !

Yes, I am currently running the ViperOne rom & that's what made me think it could be possible. On ViperOne's EQS, you have one click to turn on the Power Saver. It doesn't open the power manager app and "click" the button to turn on the power saver, so logically there is some code in the Viper EQS that can turn on the power saver directly. I wanted to know if that could be done in a separate app, or what the direct command is (shell command?). With an app or shell command, I could turn on the power saver from a Tasker profile.

Didn't know about the 2 finger swipe though... Useful, but again isn't quite what I want. Thanks though.

I don't know if it still works.. I haven't used it in years, but have you tried setting up a shortcut via the AnyCut app or other similar applications?
EDIT: Appears AnyCut is gone. QuickShortcutMaker from the Play store is another being recommended according to my googlefu.

Tried that, there is a way to get a shortcut direct to the Power Settings app, but not to turn on the Saver directly. Lots of other direct shortcuts though which may be useful in future!
Still searching...

Tasker will do it:
Create a task called Power Saver (or whatever you want) and select 'Load App'.
Check the 'Show All' box in the app list, and Power Saver Settings becomes visible.
Should have a home screen shortcut to toggle the power saver mode.

That's what i'm doing at the moment, but it only opens the power saver settings, i still have to "click" the button to turn the power save on.
I can't find a power saver widget on my rom (ViperOne)...should there be one?

I see. Well you could try Power Toggles app. I used it for a while and it is very good. It should allow you to use a widget to toggle the power saver mode.

Yes, and it works!
Credit to @j to the 4n
As I said in the ViperOne thread, the precise shell command that worked on my phone was...
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db "update 'system' set value='1' where name='user_powersaver_enable';"
value='0' works for disable as well
and my recent comment....
colthekid said:
After some testing on this last night I can confirm what @j to the 4n said, it is turning the power saver on (you can see the screen dim after 20-30 seconds), but it's not immediately updating the quicksettings icon, although again, it does update eventually (especially after a screen off/on). The status bar notification also doesn't appear. However if, as said above, you open the power settings, the notification appears and it also updates the quicksettings icon.

Go to settings, about, tap build number 7-8 times for developer options.
Keyboard sounds should be under settings, sound. If not there then under keyboard input.

Go to settings --> lock screen --> slider shortcuts.
Slide the circle to the slot you want to change, and choose "empty" for the shortcut you want to get rid of.
Not sure if anyone else is having a problem but I had trouble removing the camera widget off the lock screen even though it was disabled in the settings on carbonmod. Had to download "Lockscreen policy" app to remove it.
I thought I read somewhere that the 4.3 OTA was supposed to enable turning off the Power Saver notification (a complete waste of screen space) but that doesn't seem to be the case? Or am I missing something?

They moved it to the quick toggles.
You can turn Power Saver on and off in the Quick Toggles, but can't control the notification in the pull down. I want Power Saver on, but without the notification. If you go to "Power" under All Apps, there is a notification check box but it is grayed out.

He's trying to say that he does in fact want power saver to be on (which is just a press of the toggle), but while power saver is turned on, a notification appears in the status bar just like it used to. He doesn't want this notification.
Install this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmzsoft.powersaverdisabler&hl=en
remove the icon from the notification bar with it, then uninstall the app, powersaver still runs but it wont show in the bar anymore
done
You can also do it yourself straight from terminal emulator
Code:
su
pm disable com.htc.htcpowermanager/.powersaver.PowerSaverNotificationReceiver

Yes you would need root, it would be a simple matter of rooting, running the app/command to remove the icon then unrooting however it just depends on how much effort you want to go through vs how much you hate that icon
personally I didn't mind the icon and learned to ignore it with 4.1.2 but now with 4.3 I decided to remove it. I'm not sure why they force it on us in the notification bar when its not really a "notification"

I actually hate that icon a lot! Almost as much as the big menu bar at the bottom of the screen, which thankfully is now gone. Rooting, removing and then unrooting is not a bad idea - I've rooted several devices, its not something I enjoy doing, but I can do it. I can't stay rooted thanks primarily to Time Warner Cable and their TWC TV app, that won't run with root without additional convoluted effort that doesn't always work.
My other alternative is to force close the notification manually ... given how infrequently I need to reboot the phone, I wouldn't have to do this all that often.
I'm testing out Ad Guard at the moment, which seems to be working well.
However, because I chose to use a VPN (it was recommended) then I now have a key sign in the notification area.
I'm sure it asked me if I wanted to turn it off at the time but I said no thinking I could turn it off later. Now I can't find any setting at all!
Is there a way I can turn it off without having to give system ui Turner app permissions through ADB?
