Im a total novice when it comes to rooting. i did manage to root my N7000, but after a few hours my phone became quite muggy...i rebooted it and on reboot it said "upgrading".
Since then it has been unusable, i did the volume up/home/power button and tried a wipe data....phone still wont respond well. keyboard doesn't work, cant get a signal, and its generally so groggy, its pretty much unusable. i managed a factory reset with phone switched on, still no better.
any help would be massively appriciated

Ok ..
First of all if you have properly rooted your android device with (clockwordmod recovery) or any other recoveries etc you need to have a Rom to flash it through this recovery
It is recommend that you must have safe kernel before flashing any ROM. Please download any of CM10.1 ROM from the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789397
Now Get the ROM for your appropriate device from the link below. Select the device and download the ROM. Use any Stable or Nightly version.
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/
Next thing you need to download Google Apps package called GAPPS. Its latest version corresponding to CM10.1 android version 4.2.2 is on the top of the screen. (20130301) using link below
http://goo.im/gapps
Put all the files to micro SD Card. Since your operating system is not working so you may have to take out SD card and put these downloaded zip files to SD card using jacket or your laptop SD card slot.
Now Switch ON your android device to Recovery Mode by Holding Volume Up+ Power and Home Button together
Do following:-
Wipe data/Factory reset.
Wipe Cache.
Wipe Delvik Cache in Advanced Options ..
Fix permissions.
then go to your SD card and flash all these files in order
Flash the Kernel first and after flashing Reboot Your Recovery.
Now Flash
1. CM 10.1
2. GAPPS
Reboot .. n enjoy your new rooted phone
If you still face difficulty let me know ..

Although i haven't reached the 'recovery mode' part yet, i can tell you that the only options are:
reboot system now
apply update for external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
the delvik cache & fix permissions are not options
Adam
Here ur options
Two options with you
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Download clockword mod recovery from here.
Again I recommend using Chasmado Kernel and it will automatically install safe recovery files. TWRC or CMD Recovery

But my phone is giving a lot of problem, hanging a lot, Force Closes etc..!!
I can pay few amount if my phone is successfully flashed with CM10 ROM.

Hi,
I've just downloaded the latest ROM "GT_N7000_SweetROM_V5_base_LSF" for my Samsung Note GT-N7000. http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote/roms/SweetJB/GT_N7000_SweetROM_V5_base_LSF.ziphttp://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote/roms/SweetJB/GT_N7000_SweetROM_V5_base_LSF.zip Could anyone tell me how to install this ROM? Do I have to unzip this RAR-file first? And if so, what then? Could I make use of the program Odin3.
I still am quite new at this and I am always a bit uncertain when upgrading my phone. Again, I really could do with some good advice from one of you guys.
Thanks again!

Thank you for your swift reply.
My phone is rooted and therefor I think I have CWM installed. Also, I earlier installed the RAR-file: N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN, I think I can remember that it was also done with the CWM recovery; It went all smoothly. I know that I didn't have to wipe my phone and/or reset it into factory settings at that time. Is that still the same with this installation? Because I found this video on the internet http://www.cursed4eva.com/multi-window-galaxy-note/, which seems to say otherwise, and now I'm having second thoughts. Are you known to a video that would make it more clearly for me in how to act?
I hope to hear from you soon again.
Thank you,
Robert.

Hi,
I just read these instructions, but I still have so many doubts that I could really do with some extra help. I am sorry, that I sound like a real amateur but that's because I really am in this matter.
Like i said, earlier (a few weeks ago), I've eventually (after so many of my questions having answered by you guys) succesfully rooted my phone by installing the RAR-file: CWM-SuperSU-v0.87. I also succesfully installed the Dutch ROM version: N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN and I also had to install the RAR-file: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.88.2-signed.
Now, reading your instructions in the link that you gave me:
1) Make a backup of your current ROM
2) Download Sweet ROM Team V5 and Philz JB Kernel and place on sd or external sd card (remember where you put it)
3) Boot cwm recovery
4) Flash any Philz JB Kernel (after 3.1 cwm) - available here
5) Reboot Recovery
6) Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik (IMPORTANT)
7) Mounts Storage and Format System, Format Data AND Format PreLoad (IMPORTANT)
8) Flash Sweet ROM Team V5 JB
9) Wait until it says Reboot then Reboot phone. First install will take some time as it is building cache
could I not "just start" from point 5, or would that just not work? I still have the the RAR-file: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.88.2-signed installed on my ExternalSD-card and I've also placed the SweetRom on my ExternalSD-card...
Am I correct to presume I am losing all my data following this procedure?
Could you please link me to a video where I can watch the whole installation process as my guide?
Thank you again!
Robert,
Netherlands.
Fist take backup of apps , contacts, sms , call logs etc, Then Do follow instruction below
1) Reboot Recovery
2) Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik (IMPORTANT)
3) Mounts Storage and Format System, Format Data AND Format PreLoad (IMPORTANT)
4) Flash Sweet ROM Team V5 JB
5) Wait until it says Reboot then Reboot phone. First install will take some time as it is building cache

You have the steps right there in the first post. I'll leave some explanations
You need cwm (clockwordmod recovery) first. The easiest way to install it is via rommanager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en. Use rommanager to flash cwm.
Once cwm is installed. Then proceed.
1. Place cm-10.1-20130416-NIGHTLY-p880.zip and gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip in to your internal sdcard
- Download cm http://get.cm/get/jenkins/25315/cm-10.1-20130417-NIGHTLY-p880.zip
- Download gapps http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
- Move the files to your internal sdcard
You need to be in cwm recovery for the next steps. To do this you need to power off your phone, Hold VolUp and Power Button at the same time to power on your phone. Wait till you get to cwm recovery console.
2. BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA with CWM Recovery
- In cwm console select backup. use vol+/vol- to navigate through the menus and use power button to select the option.
3. In CWM Recovery make wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, format system
- These options can also be found in cwm
4. Flashcm-10.1-20130416-NIGHTLY-p880.zip from sdcard
- Still in cwm. Select Install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> navigate to where you put cm-10.1-20130416-NIGHTLY-p880.zip
5. Gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip from sdcard
- Still in cwm. Select Install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
6. Done
- Reboot
I'm not an expert, but that is how I did it.

Actually, the first thing you must do is unlock the bootloader. For now, the only sure versions are EUR-XXX (and to be clear, it's not enough that you installed the Euro-Open FW, your phone must have the software identified as EUR-XXX - for instance, german sim-free phones will be identified as 262-000, even if they install Euro-Open FW, and they don't seem to be unlockable as of yet).
So, check the software version (at system settings -> phone info -> software information -> software version) and, if it's Eur-XXX or something similar, you can unlock the bootloader.
If you're using the all-in-one tool, you just have to follow the instructions on it's thread to unlock the bootloader.
Only then can you install CM with the method akosierwin provided.
Okay i followed the steps and installed clockwork mod via the rom manager...BUT!
If i boot into recovery it says: LG Security,ERROR boot image signature, 5 seconds shut down something something...
Whats that all about? thanks for the fast reply's!
you need to unlock your bootloader first
Yep, unlock your bootloader first.
Here are the steps for that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
Okay i unlocked the bootloader ( when im in the S/W upgrade screen it says unlocked at the top..) i have clockworkmod installed but i cant install anything... All the zips give: assert failed, status 7.. Now im in a bootloop. I can go into clockword mod but thats about it. I have tried other zips than the Nightlys from cyanogen but nothing works. WTF

In the general section there's a thread callled flashable CM 10.1 FIX P880 (or similar).
The status 7 error occurs because of a little line (p880 instead of x3 for device recognition).
Install the CM from there or try to reinstall CWM through ROM Manager (should be latest and working)
And don't forget the GApps (from goo.im or the thread with the fixed CM)
EDIT: Link to the fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2238814

In the steps for installing CM, there is the advice to do a nandroid backup of the existing system!
Is it possible, after wiping and installing CM 10.1, to restore only data, so I would have all my Apps and Userdata back, or would this cause problems with CM 10.1 settings?
Has someone tried this already?
Is CWM after wiping and installing still present?

CWM ist still installed after CM 10.1 flash.
If you want to have your apps + data back install titanium,
though I don't really know about restoring a backup on CM
(but it's a different android so I think it wouldn't work)

Thanks, but I tried with Titanium Backup on V20a (after wiping and installing V20a over V10h) and not all Apps was correctly restored, settings of system, all the screens of Nova Launcher, the Widgets and their settings and many more was wrong or not restored, so I tried with restoring only "data" from CWM-Backup and it works perfectly...
Anyone tried this on CM 10.1?
Glad that it worked
Didn't know that.

For bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
Then follow instructions from second post
After you do steps from 0 to 3 (dont forget to put files into your internal memory), you will turn off your phone, press and hold power and volume down button simultaneously, when LG logo appears, press power button three times while still holding volume down, then you can release everything and you should be into recovery witch should look similar to this http://techbeasts.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/la-foto.jpg. Now you do steps 4-7, in backup and restore (witch is step 4), just press backup and wait a minute or two for backup to complete. Then go back and press install zip from sd card, then navigate to ROMs zip file you downloaded and click it. You will see output screen showing progress... after ROM is flashed, go again to install zip from sd card, this time you will chose gapps zip file. After that, go back, do wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and in advanced tab wipe dalvik cache. Go back, reboot and you should be done!
IF anything goes wrong with flashing, you will reboot into recovery and go backup and restore, and restore.
Srecno
Ok,now that I am an "expert" on flashing all kind of things (ROMs,kernels,CWM,etc),I have different kind of questions....
1)With Vanir 4.4.2 latest nightlies and iodak 9.5 or 9.9 (whatever),havent tweek anything and left it be as it is, my battery drain is catastrofic. For example with JB 4.1.2 when I leave my phone overnight it drains 1-2-3% but with vanir it goes to 15-20%....Why is that?
Also, when i leave wifi on with no surfing, couple sms and maybe 1 min of calls it drains 15-20%.And that is with brightness lowered to 50% (on my JB I allways kept it on 100%).
2)Why are my antutu results that much different on vanir and cm11?I've got almost 16k on vanir and barely 11k on cm11.
Your final observation kinda answers the previous questions, it is a performance driven rom and this usually implies less battery life.
On the other hand I can say that your drain seems a little too high, but without some battery stats it's hard to say....
to be honest have been using samsung ace 5830 for more than 2 years but didnt face any issue before.
my friend had installed CWM and rooted the phone also.
but now it keeps restarting and i am unable to do anything.
kindly suggest what needs to be done in details.
also the above installation was done 1 year back .
so please let me know what all is needed to install or guide me for the same.

What Do you mean by "keeps restarting" Bro, Is it stuck on the bootanimation?
If your phone doesn't get pass boot animation and reboots, then there's only one way to fix it. Your personal files and data would be gone but I'm sure it's backed up with your google account. Watch this and follow the instructions. Installing a stock firmware using ODIN. Hope it helped

Are you currently using a stock rom or a custom rom? Anyway you can solve this problem by just flashing back the stock rom using odin. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin along with all firmwares and drivers (check the "Preparations" section),
Flash stock rom on Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 using odin
If your PC cannot recognize the phone, its usually the drivers. Once installed, go to recovery mode (hold power+ Home button) and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM 5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace. Just flash them from the recovery mode (choose "install zip from sdcard" and then select the zip file from sdcard).

The Apocalypse you are referring to is the custom rom that is installed in your phone. When you bought you phone, you had Samsung's version of Froyo/ Gingerbread installed in your phone. That rom is called stock rom. Custom roms are build by developers using cyanogen mod sources. Now you keep having restarts and since clearing data and cache from CWM didn't solve it, I suggest you install another rom. Now this is where you have to make a choice. You can either install a stock rom (stable, nice battery backup, etc) or a custom rom (fast, performance oriented, customizable, etc). Before you do install another rom, backup all app data using Titanium Backup. If you choose Stock rom, then follow my previous post on how to install stock rom on your phone. Now if you choose custom rom, then first we need to update CWM 4 to CWM 5.
CWM 5.0.2.6 fix for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830
Download the CWM 5 zip file to SD Card and reboot your phone to recovery mode (Power off then hold Home+ Power button). Now choose "Install zip from SD Card" and choose the zip file. Done! You have successfully installed CWM 5. Now time for you to install a new custom rom. Refer the following guide for all the custom roms for our device,
Know your Device:Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 ~Root~Odin~CWM~ROM LIST
For time being use any Gingerbread roms. Download it to SD Card and then reboot to recovery mode. Now choose Wipe data/ factory reset, Wipe cache partitions, Advanced> Wipe dalvik cache, Wipe battery stats, Mounts & Storage> Format /system. Now select "Install zip from SD Card" and choose your rom zip file. Reboot and you can use your new rom. Whenever you want to install any new custom rom, just follow the same procedure. Now as for the low internal memory problem, we might have a solution. But the catch is it requires a rom with init.d support (something all custom roms have and stock roms doesn't ) and an ext partition on SD Card. First backup all the SD Card data. Now go to CWM> Advanced> Partition SD Card> Size (Max 1GB, anymore and system will lag)> Swap (0MB) and wait for it to say "Partitioning done". Now download and place CronMod script (try INT2EXT+ as it is the most stable of all) to SD Card. Now again go to CWM> Mounts & Storage> Mount /system then flash the Cronmod zip from CWM. Reboot and you are good to go. Now go to Settings>Storage to see the newly increased internal memory. Here is the link,
CronMod-INT2EXT

Follow @mahithm instructions to flash a fresh STOCK rom and the next tine DON'T USE CWM 4x, it's outdated, there are several recovery systems based on CWM 5x, they're the most stable for a daily usage and they're required to flash most of the custom roms
