Need your help:
I am now looking for a laptop for school and work that I can take around and with me on trips.
It doesn't have to be anything special, but I do want something that works well and looks nice.
I have looked around but everything is so over priced that I thought about asking you guys for your opinions.
Doesnt have to be exact but around these lines
Budget: $300-$400
Preferably Intel
250-500GB Hard drive
4GB Memory
15.6 Screen
Number pad
Windows 7 or 8 is fine
Let me know if you guys need any other information.
I'm still looking around but the more help I can get with this, the better. I need it quick before I start Summer A.
I just don't want to get ripped off.
I really appreciate it!

Yes it is about my preference. No where does it say I cannot make my own thread because some guy decided to make one saying I had to post in his thread if I needed information regarding laptops.

Why do you keep spamming? If you don't want to help, then don't post at all.

I am closing this thread. I am going to be yet another person to point you HERE. Please take the time to check it out. A lot of people have gotten exactly the help you are asking for in that thread.
There are a ton of reasons why you shouldn't open a thread just to get help finding a new computer. Forget that it is against the rules, or that it will clutter up xda, or that your thread is getting spammed. The most important reason is that the people who are willing to help you find a new computer are not searching all over xda looking for people to help, they look (wait for it).....HERE.

You are going to draw unwanted attention from a mod so I suggest you stop doing what you are doing in the fashion in which you are doing it. These restrictions are in place for a reason, mostly to stop spam posters.
Read this first please:
[GUIDE] How to be a New User (and not a noob)
If you have any other question afterwards you will know what to do.
One other thing. Is it so much to ask that you read for a bit first, pick up some knowledge and experience, help a few people in the 90+% of the site which is completely open to you, to participate with quality posts instead of BS posts, in return for being able to post into any of the ROM threads from any dev on this site?

Yes. You also don't get away with spamming for ten posts. Read this 19 times.....
Good day sir.
There are already so many threads here in OT that you can post to for your ten post, it should be extremely easy for anybody that takes one minute to look. Use the 'game threads' like last letter and similar word and such. Problem solved.
EDIT: Mods, why not make it so new users can't start a new thread until the 10 post limit is reached?

wtf? Don't encourage that ****.....
ot is not an acceptable place to gain your first ten posts, I spend far too much time trimming the post counts of cretins who think they can slip in here unnoticed and spam their way to the dev section.

Well I obviously wasn't recommending he do that for purposes of being able to spam dev forums!! Its not like I am telling a secret loophole or anything, what I said to do should be common sense to anybody except the OP right? If it's that big of a deal then new users shouldn't be able to post in OT either. I'm just saying that's better than starting a new thread with no topic.

Yeah I appreciate that, but in general, most new threads created by new users have already been created plenty of times before. I done it myself, so I know that.
Granted, it's not an ideal situation but at least it would solve the issue, to a certain degree.

Hey fellow XDAers,
Firstly let me start off by saying thank you for taking the time to open this thread. I'm an XDAer from Trinidad and Tobago. I've contributed to the ATRIX forums sometime back and I'm a regular at the marketplace also I occasionally help out where I can. So let's get down to business, currently a few of my colleagues are participating in something called the Secondary Schools' Short Film Festival 2012. They're in the process of voting for the people's choice award which is given to the short film which has the most votes by October 24, 2012. Now here I am asking you to kindly go to this link, scroll down a bit to where you see "number" stars(it's a click-able button) and click the button to vote. Please vote as this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much and have a good night.
Please and thank you.

XDA exists as a place where we all can come together with common interests, mobile devices in this case. We're all here to help one another not bring someone down I'm just here simply asking for some assistance not get popular so you don't need to get your big girl underwear in a bunch man.
I'm sorry if my words offend you but I'm just simply asking for some assistance.

I'm not going to start a bun-fight here, especially not with the OP. I have actually watched the film and it was good.
I still think that I was correct in my original posting though. I presume that there are prizes up for collection at the end of the SSSFF, beyond just getting one of the awards? I fail to see the difference between that and these;-
I Need Your Votes
[VOTE] Please help my wife win this contest
Help my friends win $10,000
If the generic rule within OT is that it is OK to ask people to vote and help you to win then I take my original comment back, but there seem to be distinct double-standards at play here.

only 1 of those three threads was formally closed. the other two were abandoned.
So, it's kind of shakey...i gather the sense that if I post a similar thread, it may get some attention and garner itself an OK lifespan, but someone with 60 posts may start a similar thread and it may not go over so well. I'm not sure why that is, but the mods make their decisions because they are trusted to do so.
is it hypocritical? Absolutely, but I don't argue it. it never hurts to try.

If you share it with your friends (your own link), you have somewhat bigger chance. Good luck!
