Wow - I'm sure glad to see someone who has the exact problem I do. I posted over on xda but haven't received any answers yet.
I'm confused as to how to flash SU.zip onto the phone. Can you explain it for a newb? Thanks!

Make sure in settings under power that you do not have fast boot enabled. Then go to restart and hold down just the volume down key you will be taken to HBOOT

Well, the home button on my unlocked G1 stopped working about a week or so ago. No big deal, but the problem I now face is that I am unable to install any new roms.
I am able to boot into recovery mode (cyanogen v1.4) using ADB, however once there, I am unable to install a new rom since my home button does not work.
Is there any way around this either using the phone or through my computer (I am using MAC OS 10.5). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

For the life of me, I cannot seem to get fastboot to work for me on my mac. Maybe it is just me and I am unable to follow directions, but for some reason I cannot get it to work under Mac OS10.5 and I have no Window PC to try it out there.
You could try everything from adb shell. I don't know why fastboot wouldn't work if adb is working as they go hand-in-hand. I don't have the shell commands to flash, but I'm sure they are around here somewhere.
http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html
They have the fastboot binary if you wanted to try that instead what you have.

Decided to remove and reinstall adb again. For some reason now, fastboot does work even though I did the exact same things as before.
Thanks for the help evilkorn
Less than an hour after you posted... I'd say it's a pretty fast solution. =p
As stated, got flashboot to work, I now have another problem. When I try to install the rom using flashboot, I get this error;
Dell:tools szuba$ fastboot update jacheroski2.2a.zip
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
Dell:tools szuba$
Any way around this?
New solution. Flash amon ra's 1.2.2 recovery, that version had verify with send, instead of home. The link in my sig has the download for the current and past version.
dude you can still boot into recovery. go into terminal emultaor and type su then reboot recovery

Read his first post... The problem is the home key to OK the flash.

One of Amon's recovery versions using the green "call" button to confirm actions (rather than the home button).
Must be my luck... installed Amon's previous recovery img but now my green (send/call) button doesn't seem to be working either.
For some reason, both my green (send/call) and home buttons do not work so both methods do not work for me. The only option that I can think of is to someone create a boot.img, data.img, and system.img from a rom and do a fastboot nandroid backup from those. Now if only I can find away to do that... anyother ideas?
And thanks for the help so far

Yes, the alt+ commands still requires you to verify with the home (or green) key.
Any chance there is away to do it through the console with code? Tried to do a search, but didn't come up with anything in regards to that.
Totally lost for ideas now... but the help is greatly appreciated evilkorn

Yes, flash that one

But why i have this problem?
What i was doing wrong?
Android Commander is bad?
You shouldn't do this with any 3rd Party App because you don't know if the procedures are compatible for the Tattoo...Gain root with the m7 exploit, upload su and flash_image and then flash first a recovery, then you can make a nandroid backup and after this you can flash anything you want - custom recovery saves your life, trust me!
but how to get in adb?
When i go "cmd" -> "adb devices" it shows device not found

What OS do you have? Linux? If so, you must start adb server with root permisions:
- cd to dir where you have downloaded & extracted android sdk tools, eg „cd ~/bin/android-sdk-linux/tools“
- Type „sudo ./adb kill-server“ and then „sudo ./adb start-server“
- Type „adb devices“ and you should see you phone.
For Windows XP, Vista, Seven... I just don't know mate, maybe some driver problem :-/

Ok, try this:
Continue at your own risk! I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
Install Recovery:
1. Download the files required for rooting from Here
2. Unlock your phone’s bootloader at http://www.htcdev.com/
3. Copy the Clock Work Mod zip to your SD card.
4. Now create a folder named “android” in your “C” drive.(You can create it in any drive of your choice but for the sake of convenience I’ll be taking drive “C”)
5. Now copy the “ CWMRecovery_D500_Philz.img” to that folder.
6. Rename the file to “recovery.img”.
7. Download ADB and extract it to to C:\android
8. Turn off the phone.
9. Now turn it on by pressing Volume down key+”-” key+Power button.
10..With the help of volume keys select “Fastboot” by pressing the power key.
11. Connect your Desire 500 to your PC and install all the required drivers (htc drivers, so pc can read and write on phone).
12. Now open command prompt and go to: c:/android
13. Now type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img”.
14. Power off your smartphone.
15. Power it on by holding volume down+ “-” +power button.
16. Navigate to the option named “RECOVERY” and press the power key.
You now have recovery installed!
Install SU:
Download SuperSu from Here
Now go into CWM recovery and the flash the zip

This is the risk of rooting the phone! You have to know surely what you're gonna do, else you'll have a messed up phone. After rooting, I strongly advise to do a backup under CWM recovery, this way you keep your chance to revert everything back to the initial status.
Now folow other steps and you will be rooted with an unlocked bootloader.
Good Luck.

I think this is not a full root acces method and there isn't now for the time being. This is partial root, might want to wait with this procedure some time after will have more support for your device.
Sorry I cn't help anymore.

Why in God's name do people insist on trying to use ROM Manager? It is a pile of c**p that causes far more issues than need be. Just read the threads and do it manually so that you understand what you are doing, and why - or worst case use the All-In-One-Toolkit instead.

I don't think that you have done what you think you have done If you had followed the first thread you listed then you would have installed CWM Touch v6.0.3.1 on your phone as that is the version you would have had to download.
If your phone boots up fine into normal operation then simply follow that guide again TO THE LETTER - and when you reboot into recovery, do NOT use ROM Manager to achieve it - use the proper method.

Common sense is often needed when doing anything with your phone - and a bit of basic computer knowledge.
I've just re-read the thread you linked to as a check. The command "c:\adb>adb shell" is a mistype by the OP. It should be "c:\adb\adb shell" or, if you are already in the C:\ADB folder, simply "adb shell"

You may install the HTC Drivers... and ADB works only on system or recovery... otherwise you have to use fastboot commands. So I'd recommand flashing a Stock ROM from TWRP, you can get a stock rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752 (thanks Mike1986 for providing such awesome ROMs)... then you should have a working phone again. At least: If you can enter the bootloader EVERYTHING is fine and you didn't f*** up your HTC One.
Hit the Thanksbutton if it helped or ask me for further clarification

Okay, first here you have the correct adb and fastboot files, I uploaded them quickliy for you, I think this way they should work properly:
http://uploaded.net/file/ykwya517
Next thing are these HTC Drivers, in this post are a few of them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2089508 and on my computer there are the 4.3.0.001 drivers, so I'd recommand downloading those(Credits go to @mdmower):
http://www.mediafire.com/download/n5y93fdgkvexpwc/HTC+Driver+4.3.0.001.exe
Now shut down your phone and boot in into the bootloader with pressing the power button and the volume down button. Then select fastboot and enter this menu. Now if the drivers are installed correctly there should be written FASTBOOT USB. I think you said you are unlocked... so the following command should run just fine. Open a command prompt and navigate to the folder where adb and fastboot are placed. In this folder you copy your custom recovery(TWRP) and you flash it with this command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery [recoveryname].img
And DON'T worry about adb in the bootloader! ADB doesn't work with the bootloader. Now you boot into your recovery by chosing Recovery somewhere in your bootloader. If you are in the bootloader you somehow need to push the ROM to your HTC One... This should work with this command...
Code:
adb push "C:\FolderWhereRomIsStored\rom.zip" "/data/media/0/rom.zip"
And if this doesn't copy it correctly simply place your zip on your computer to a folder that is empty and push this folder to your HTC One with:
Code:
adb push "C:\FolderWhereRomIsStored" "/data/media/0"
Now you are good to go, simply flash the zip form TWRP. I think you know how this works Simply go to install and then chose the zip and flash it.
If you now want to s off... then ask me again. I'll give you an advice

Good to know that it worked As some kind of a hint I'd recommand not to proceed s off at the moment because with this security system disabled, you are able to destroy many more partitions such as the bootloader and this would result with irreparable damage to your device and it would be hardbricked. So my advice is: Keep your hands away from S OFF for a few weeks and use rumrunner s off if you are sure that you can understand adb/fastboot basics. I really don't want to say that you are stupid or a noob, this is truly NOT the case! Everyone needs experience and the only way to get experience is to read through forums, to read statements from people that hardbricked their device and many more thing But you have a working phone right now, that is important :highfive:
