About Caller ID in XDAs

Hi all, new XDA IIs user. already installed intellipad and phonepad. Problem as below:
1) The original Caller ID (photo contacts ver.1.17) hangs and could not preview. I have installed the ver. 1.2. but problem still there and two program seems exit at the same time.
a) how to uninstall the old version?
b) how to solve the hang problem?
2) i careless installed the extunlocker exe files in 'storage' but dunno what to do with it and was not able to uninstall, please advise.
3) im in Hong Kong, according to my spec stated in signature, any upgrade needed to be done?

fringWinmob.cab doesnt install

Actually Im using Skype , but I want to try Fring on Xperia ..........
I have downloaded proper cab I think , from Fring web site , I try to install it on external memory or internal , but installing process looks bloked .
Any workarround to solve this ?

Provide more info. Is there a message that is displayed?

Solution was simply , there is 2 fullscreen windows that was hidden , so with task manager I forced hiden windows to goes up and then I can continue the instalation proces .

WaveSecure not registering in Cyanogen Mod 4.0.4

Hi!
I recently rooted my G1 and installed cyanogen mod 4.0.4.
Then I reinstalled WaveSecure and tried to register my phone (the first step).
I send and receive the sms for doing the registration. The SMS is then removed from my inbox (i suppose wavesecure is removing it). But Wavesecure doesnt recognize the sms. Wavesecure keeps waiting for the SMS to arrive then timeout and asks to try again.
I could complete the registration before with the android 1.5 so I think cyanogen mod is causing the error (maybe inserting some headers or wraping lines in SMS?)
What I need is: This happens only to me? I want some users of cyanogen mod and wavesecure to tell me if everything is fine or if the error is for everyone.

One complicated way of getting around this problem is:
1. Install cupcake (Android 1.5) again
2. Install and activate WaveSecure
3. Shell into the phone and copy the config files of WaveSecure (from /data/data/com.wsandroid/) out
- xml files
- database files (.db)
4. Install his custom OS
5. Install WaveSecure
6. Copy those config files back in overwriting the current files
But, since there seems to be some problem with the SMS interception on this custom build there is a high chance that other things related to server / client communication wont work.
Alternatively, if you are willing to try out some test builds then we can get a better idea of what is happening for you on Cyanogen Mod 4.0.4.

Thanks for your reply.
I will try to follow these steps:
1) Full nandroid backup
2) Install cupcake
3) Install wavesecure and configure it
4) Copy configuration files above
5) Install Cyanogen Mod (maybe I can skip this as the next could do it already, need to investigate)
6) Restore nandroid backup
7) Overwrite configuration files
This way I will try not to loose my files and settings. But I will need to do it only when I have some free time, that way I can't tell the results very soon. Maybe only next Monday.

Before you try doing this though - make sure you tried the number verification step by entering your international number with a + country code.

CM 4.2.1 / CM4.1.99x Exception with contact group

Some poeple are the meaning, that the place for this thread will be better here: OK, lets following this issue here. Here is a copy from the previews one:

I have the same problem as in 4.1.99x, that I can not add a contact in my group (there is still ony one, which was working after some crashes in 4.1.999) without a crashed application
If I look into the exception Monitor, I can found a lot of:

What can I do or must do ?
History: I have had the G1 not so long time, but modif. it via WIPE to the 4.0.x ( stable )
After this (2 days later I upgrade to 4.1.111)
from this status I was following the description with the 2 Step to 4.1.999, where I have see the error the first time. With 4.0.x / 4.1.111 I haven't recognize this problem, because I have add some friend in my contact-list. For my meaning, this one was coming in, during upgrade in the 3 steps: WIPE, Google-Recovery, CM-Update 4.1.999.
Hint: If I update the phone, I start the phone WITHOUT a Mobile-Card: because I have had one time a bill over 200€ for data connection, and nobody knows why. So I boot the phone after update without card, check APNdroid, if 3G etc. disabed, shut down the phone, insert the casrd and boot again.
Maybe this handling calls the error ?

YES. I have reflashed the 4.2.1 with the card inside the phone: No change
Btw.: I was falling also in the error with the ext2 and ext3, so I change this one on the PC via tune2fs. But normaly every program, which need a DB and did not found it, create one. Or isn't it ?

No I haven't, because I have not so much contacts... So I was starting with a brand-new phone, "root" them, wipe them and change to CM4.0.x (Stable), jump to CM 4.1.11 and after a few days following the instruction to move to 4.1.999 with WIPE, 1st paket and the CM-paket.
Here I see the problem and also in 4.2.1.
About a missing Backup, I try only to create a contact manual on the phone.
THe first time, if I want to add the contact, the phone ask me to syncronise - but I was offline at all. So I reject this message ( there are also no datas to sync online )

Install whatsapp on wifi only Galaxy TAB 2 7" w/o rooting your Tab

This is for ppl who are facing issues because of blue stack, apguard or getting error messages like "tablet not supported", "it looks like your client has been modified". Please follow the below steps. I tried today and it worked perfect. No need to root your tablet. For easy understanding, I have colored the text :- Red-Things that are to be done on phone . Green-Things that are to be done on tablet
1) Install Carbon backup app from play store on your android smart phone and on your tablet. My android smart phone is rooted [it should work in non-rooted smart phone as well]
2) Take a back up of whatsapp and select the option to save it on your external SD card.
3) Now move to your tablet. Take a backup of any app. In my case, I took the back up of Temple Run2 and select to save the back up in your external SD card. This is mainly done to create the Carbon backup folder structure.
4) The back up would be available under /ext_sd_card/carbon/
5) Now back to your smart phone- copy the complete carbon folder under /ext_sd_card/carbon/ and upload it some where. You can use some file manager like EXexplorer to do this for you
6) Moving to your tablet, download the carbon folder you uploaded in your tablet and replace with the one that is already existing on your external SD card.
7) Open Carbon application and restore whatsapp
8) It will ask you to install whatsapp from play store. I would recommend you to download the apk and install it.
9) Select restore option again and restore whatsapp data
10) Now you can open whatsapp with the same state as you left it on your smart phone. I mean the messages
Please note : Whatsapp can be attached to a single number only, so please uninstall it on your smart phone after the above process.
If you want to use a different number on your tablet, then follow the below steps after Step 10.
Send one or two messages to your friends.
12) Uninstall whatsapp and install it again.
13) Restore the back up again from carbon app.
14) Open Whatsapp, you will be asked to verify your number.
15) Enter your new number and select Ok. Please make sure that the new number is in working state i.e. the SIM card is inserted into a phone and can receive SMS/call
16) Whatsapp will send the verification code to your new number.
17) Wait for sometime and you will get the prompt on your tablet to enter the verification code.
18) Enter it and enjoy

Good, but there is any way of doing that without an Android smartphone? Will the Bluestacks or YouWave works?

Blue stack worked for many but it did not for me. Not sure of you wave.

Should I have the smartphone evrytime i use whatsapp along with the tab ! ?
Or I can use any smartphone , follow the above process and after uninstalling whatsapp from that device
, I CAN use normally in my tab ?

Some info about Whatsapp before I answer your question.
1) You can TAG one Whatsapp account with one Phone number only
2) If you try to configure Whatsapp with a already tried phone number, then it would stop working in your previous device. [rather it asks for re-verification of the number in your previous device]
Coming back to your question :
Scenario 1 : Lemme assume that you have
* smartphone [android] with Whatsapp configured with your phone number [eg. 12345].
* you have ANOTHER active phone number [eg. 6789] which can receive SMS.
Then go ahead with the above steps and configure the other number [eg. 6789] on your tab. Now you can enjoy Whatsapp on your Smart phone [with your old number i.e. 12345] and your Tab [with your new number i.e 6789] simultaneously.
Scenario 2: Let us assume you have
* smartphone [android] with Whatsapp configured with your phone number [eg. 12345].
* you do not have an alternate active phone number.
Then go ahead with the above steps and configure whatsapp on your Tab with the only phone number [ i.e. 12345] you have. But after configuring, you will loose whatsapp on your smartphone.
You need not have your smartphone with you every time when you use Whatsapp on your Tab, in any of the above scenarios.

Whatsapp allows you to have one number bound with one device only. So, it is impossible to have same number on both the devices.

No you can't. Whatsapp allows you to be online on a single device only with the same number. [hope this helps you in better understanding]

I am not able to install the APP (WHATSAPP) in my device Samsung Tab GT-P3110 without 3G build no JZ054K P3110DDCMA4...NOTE: I have tried the carbon backup trick its backing & restoring the APP data (not the App).The restore is also with errors as it cannot see the APP in the device.... it asks for app but playstore wouldnt allow (it says the device not supported). However the App is installed from other way .....but would not continue to work . It stops & says (unfortunately its stoped).
Show me the way how to override.....& make the play store to allow install the APP.

It did work for me on an already existing number and all its data too got restored.. Maybe you're missing a step..
Install apk but do not open it.. Restore data and then run/open the app... That did the trick for me..
