[Q] First thread here (need help) / MC8 AND MB4 JB - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! That's my first thread here and I read pretty much discussions and thread in the forum before posting it, so
I have the Ace 2 phone like all of you here, and first I want to say Thanks to all the developers and people helping about the progress of this low-mid tiered pretty hand phone.
I got it like before a month and now I flashed it with the leaked MB4 JB, at the beginning was kinda choppy and laggy, but after (disabling the Adjust screen tone and enabling force gpu rendering) I pretty much got a quite good performance for a leaked version... Still as I got the MB4 one and I saw there is another one MC8 my question is simply:
If anyone had tried both versions - MC8 and MB4 ones can he please tell me the pros and cons of both and simply which one has a better overall performance ?
Second, more important question is - > CAN I REPLACE MB4 WITH MC8 WITH ODIN? W/O downgrading to GB again?
Thanks for your help in advance
Peace

Yes you can replace mb4 with mc8 without installing gb. That even is the best way to do it. After that you have to remove the TMN bloatware - that is easy just uninstall it. If you decide to root the phone you can restore the original boot animation. MC8 is smoother than mb4 and is bug free - no battery drain or black lock screen so give it a try - you can always come back to mb4 if you dont lake it.
Regards!

Thanks

The questions that you have asked were answered like 10 times or more. I have spent 10 seconds just to put "MC8 odin" and bam ... there are te answers. Also if you put in the Google "What is bloatware" you would get your answer.
Do not make our forums overbloated with threads! Use search before you ask. Please.
Anyway: Welcome to XDA community

Bloatware is just branded software preinstalled by TMN - you can remove it like you uninstall ordinary programs because is useless. There is no need to wipe data or factory reset do it if you want. To install mc8 just load the .tar.md5 file in Odin PDA field and flash it and you are done. All your apps will not be deleted.
Good Luck!

Thank you very much!
I've upgraded MB4 to MC8, main reason I did that is because I felt some choppy and laggy parts in the MB4 (which was suprisingly bug-free for me) but still didn't like the performance, now I flashed the MC8 one with stock kernel and CWM 6 so I am quite happy for now (uninstalled the bloatware) it's feeling kinda lighter now, and battery is holding more.
Still I have a little problem:
When I was on GB the game Subway surfers sydney was floating and runing perfect, in MB4 was choppy and laggy sometimes, now it's kinda spikey, I mean it's almost lag-free but the whole experience is not as back than... Anyone with the same problem? Every other game is floating - gta, mw , dead trigger, anything.. Only subway is laggy a bit... I mean whole playage of the game..
Thanks in advance

Check power safe option and if is enabled disable it.
Edit: Also turn off auto tone display in display settings.

I did that mate.. And still It's a bit choppy.. I mean it's not spikey, no big lags, but the whole movement of the little man is kinda out of framed, can't explain it, it's not the same as it was on GB but this is probably normal, so thank you really much for your help!

trying out difrent stuff..
my phone doesnt seems to be bricked or anything since i can start both the power+volumeup+home aswel as the power+volumedown+home modus

Go to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913
Look for JPU download link.
Also download odin and pit files.
Open odin and ENSURE that kies is completely closed.
Under odin input the relevant files like so

put your phone in Download mode (volume down+power+home)
Your phone should have the yellow android screen, then connect it to pc.
a yellow box should pop up in odin (com:xx added or something like that)

Lol, that's nice, you have the phone for a day and you already want to flash it. Welcome btw!
First of all, get the 3 button download mode working on your phone, and if it's working you can think about flashing. You'll also need Odin for the 1st time(it's a handy software to flash your phone).
It's quite a hard to tell everything, so all I can recommend it to search through the sticky posts in the development section(and generally everywhere). After that you'll have a rough idea what to put on the phone and how.
Hi and welcome ,
If you don't want to brick your phone, first of all and mother of all custom flasher is to read all sticky topics here (twice or more if possible, in particularly the 3 Combo one): http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=657 .
Remember it's better to ask before a flash than being sorry.
Enjoy your flashing.
Thanks for the replys,
Yes I want to flash it the first day because i had a htc hd2 before this one and I had android on it (flashed) and I liked it very much.
I have an 3 button boot and I come in an boot menu whichs looks like cwm but with less options, ill check out odin. Any rom or kernels you guess suggest?

Doc rom kitchen will help to choose the best of them the easy way:
http://romkitchen.org/m/index.html
The combo JS7/Speedmod is a good option to start.

What to do? Do I need a kind of driver?
If someone wants to help me flashing my sgs through msn send a private message please
Odin don't detect the phone, simple, and yes it's a driver issue.
No offense, but sorry i'll not help you further more until you read the basic (your issue is a part of the basic btw). Careful you'll end with a brick phone!!! (don't want to be responsible of that)

Oh really??? come on!! take your time and read carefuly, with rush you'll end with a bad bad surprise. But well it's up to you.
In the same page you spot and read right now i can quote this:
Prerequisites: The android SDK, which you can download from here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and the USB drivers for your phone, which you can get by either installing Kies or by downloading and installing these drivers: http://www.mediafire.com/?a6ni32dk6nn953b (password is 'ragin' -- I didn't test them, so feedback on these is welcome).

Bricked on first screen: on 2.3.3 during restoring backup

hi
i took a backup from recovery mode.
and then tried to restore it from the rooted CWM throught gingerbread 2.3.3 by chain fire.
now while restoring it stuck on the first samsung screen. that just displays galaxy tab logo (black and white one)
its not going to recovery mode now and keeps on jumping back to the first screen when i press power and volume up key.
i m hoping to flash it again to 2.3.3 as its still allowing me to go to the download mode.
will that help ? please let me know any alternative.
your help is highly appreciated.

1st of all , this is not the right place to post your question ... u should post it on Q/A Section
2nd , yes u can go back to download mode . why u didn't try before u post ?
am sure if u try it , u shouldn't post this thread from the 1st
go back to download mode and flash gingerbread back
Cheers
Yeah, go into Download Mode and flash this ROM http://www.multiupload.com/F6D7U1RUHD via ODIN or Heimdall. let it boot one time. After that you can install any ROM you want. If you need help, try the Overcome Guide, it shows you step by step what you have to do.

so first time i flashed the gingerbread via odin as put by chainfire in his post. is there any other way i can flash it. pardon me for asking noob question i just moved to android community from symbian.

And if everybody thought like that, this section would be completley useless as all we woudl be able to see while browsing is topics about, "how do I do this?" "How do I do that?" , "HELP please" , "ive bricked my tab, help!" etc etc etc, This section is for devs to post dev projects and reference, nothing more.

a) I have no desire to be a forum mod although if I could I would happily move them. I own and run my own non-mobile related forums and other sites. I'm simply pointing out what SHOULD be obvious to anybody who uses this forum.
b) The thing they should be "remembering" for next time is use the Q&A forum not the dev forum.
Hopefully all this will be solved once the Developer usergroup is created and then they can restrict the creation of topics i here to that group only. That will solve all the dilution of the section.
To all of the senior members contributing to my thread:
First of all thanks to you guys, specially Maxis for providing me the info and i am back to my running galaxy tab .
Secondly i apologised for any inconvenience once again. i merely thought that all the gurus like you guys are attending the development section more than a question answere area, and that since i upgraded throgh that section i should get my query answered more quickly.
i did raise a question few weeks back in Q.A forum. I respect the forums policy and trust me i am a gentleman techie.
But in my point of view if so many rules and regulations are applied then the actual purpose of acquiring information would be more difficult and less effective. but yes i think it has to be related to what the information is required in what manner.
starting this thread may have got me few senior member's notice me and may be you guys will allow me to messge you personally just incase i m to brick my galaxy tab again, cuz i think i will .
thanks again , and for your patience in bearing with me if i can be of any help just let me know any time
cheers

it was in upload. check again! should be fine now...
After installing the Fixpack i got the whole time and com.android phone Error:
,,Unfortunaly, the process com.android.phone has been stopped." :/
it is the old phone.apk pack! maybe you can delete phone.apk on it! or don't flash any fixpack. now i'm installing rom and i see
Okey i know how to solve this problem
1.Flash the ROM without the fixpack
2.Start the phone and enable root permissions
3.Install a file manager which can change your system files (Root Explorer etc)
4.Go to \system\app and delete the "Phone.apk"
5.Restart your phone
Well phone gives fc only once, and that in first boot. After that it should be fine. And if you dont flash the fix pack you won't get deep sleep, mic in call and minimum brightness fixed!!!

Okey, i make a full wipe and then i try again
downloading & gonna try...looks good
Hello everyone! I wanted to say a short goodbye but I dont think theres a need to create a new thread for this kind of a thing..
Yesterday I got my Galaxy Nexus, Ive been charging it until today.. Anyways, Ill still be coming here, as grift previously said "Ill never leave my first forum", Im not gonna leave it, Im not sure if I can be as half as active as Grift is though...
Theres one thing I wanna say about the Gnex, It is simply awesome. Awesome display, great design(outer look and its not like the galaxy s i9000, you dont feel like its a peace of plastic when you touch the battery door) etc. etc.. If you happen to be getting a new phone just go for it.. Youll love it!!
Good bye once again!

Hi dude,
sorry for complaining but the thread title is a bit confusing. Beside that you should add more informations/details about your work to OP.
Cheers.

Ultra speed wifi?! seriously? WiFi speed depends on your network speed, if you have 10mbps you cannot achieve 20mbps, but, ok.
Please correct your description also?
Okay, here some first impressions:
I've flashed this with the actual version of PhilZ Touch & there were no problems, the ROM booted up normally (it is based on Samsung's 4.3, just for the newbies). Played around with it a bit and thought by myself, okay, time for a reboot. I'm doing this always after a new ROM has come to my phone.
And that is where the trouble begins; the phone got stuck in bootloop and started to get really warm. I don't know what has happend, another try, same result.
Not usable for me. Fortunately, I've decided to put another ROM on my SD-Card too, just for the case that something goes wrong......
Cheers

Hehe,
don't worry about that & thanxx for your reply. As I said, I don't know what was wrong. My phone just didn't boot up again & showed me the bootanimation. Anyway, in the end all phones are different, even if from the same type & model, so the users & their experiences vary too
ok

hi i also suffered the same issue.
I did a clean install and after booting i saw the home screen just for about two minutes and then it went into boot loop.
As i'm sending this msg. I'm flashing stock rom through odin just so i can get my phone to work. Thanks anyway.
After installing the rom looks promising but 2 issues a rise:
1. some bits of the phone hasn't been translated properly into english.
2. after rebooting the phone it get stuck on samsung logo and there is response from capacitive buttons and is unable to boot the phone
Please,wipe cache-wipe dalvik, thanks

You should try Wipe cache, wipe Dalvik cache and then fix permissions...
