Ok, I'm still getting used to Android and it's openness, so I thought I'd ask this question. Could I flash a Jelly Bean kernel under an ICS ROM? I don't think it's possible but being the inquisitive person I am, I thought I'd ask before going too far.

Short answer: no
You could try it as I did when I was curious - you won't brick our phone but it would just freeze during the boot or fall into bootloop

Hey Guys
So Listen I Have The CM9 Paranoidandroid V0.4 And I Started Hearing About The Official ICS Coming From Samsung The Official So What Do You Think Should I Switch To The Stock And Try The Samsung Firmware Or Should I Stay On Paranoidandroid Which Is Better I Cant Say Please Help Me
Cm9 is ics more like intended, paranoid is same with tweaksettings ability.
Stock is how Samsung intended it. Which means looks practically as previous version roms lol

Its basically of your choice many peoples love touhwiz and more hate it but stock roms are very stable than any other rom
Well in touchwiz you can use:

2.wifi direct
3.and some minor things

Just get urself outta this cm9ahit buddy..dunno y people go for it...it's too risky ****...and when u have really nice stock based roms like crash ics and chekrom gb why go for cm9??bwsides cm9 has microphone bug and paranoid is notorious for nonfunctionality of s pen..

If you like touchwizz, then go for stock, that's the only real benefit. There are a lot of problems with stock ics, superbrick bug that could damage your device, wifi problems, general degradation over time.
CM roms including paranoid are as ics was meant to be and very stable. I have no idea what the guy above means by risks? There aren't any, it's safer than stock.
Like I say it comes down to touchwizz vs stock whichever you prefer.

Ok thanks for the info it really helped dude
i just rooted my sister's galaxy tab gt-p1000 which is in gingerbread in ages now... being so frustrated she decided to let me root t and install a custom rom, rooting done now my next step is to put a good, smooth, versatile rom into the tab,.. i see some jellybean ,ics roms in the developement and frankly i dont know which one is best. nobody likes ramdom FC's so i hope i can find a rom that is stable too.
query: i was wondering if i flashed the CM9 ics for p1tab. do i just flash straight from gingerbread to cm9 ics? where can i get the gapps too?
You know xda doesn't allow "best rom" question.
You try out the roms and make your own decision.
About flashing ics, you need cwm recovery.
Gapps here
http://goo.im/gapps
Cm9 is ics.
Cm10 is jb.
Grab the right version.

cool... definitly gonna try that one out... what makes this your favorite rom considering its stable?
is this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523174
Sorry but I've closed this thread as has already been said, best/most stable ROM threads have no place on the forums as it's so subjective to opinion. Lots of people have different opinions and also just because a ROM is stable on one device it may not be on another as devices don't react the same.
As suggested try them out for yourself and find the one that's best for YOU as that's what matters
Thanks

Pretty dumb question, but I just wanna be safe. I'm on Slimbean 4.1.2 right now, and I'm interested in going over to Helly Bean 4.2. Is it safe to do so? I saw Helly Bean uses Devil kernel, and Slim uses Sephamore. I don't wanna brick my phone. Although I will do a nandroid just in case.
Thanks in advance.

Don't worry, the only way to brick your phone is to flash bootloaders using the computer. Just flash it.

Hey guys,
A friend of me asked me if I can flash a custom rom on his i9000.
As you can see I have the i9001 so I dont know what the best rom is etc.
So whats the fastest and battery friendly rom for the i9000?
And flashing CWM must be done trough Odin right? Because with the i9001 we can instaal cwm through stock recovery.
Thanks in advance

Check my How to Guide at my signature (below)
Jumping from one Rom to another usually consists of flashing JVU then rooting > flashing your new Rom
So whats the fastest and battery friendly rom for the i9000

This depends on your area , what you use the most... example....internet, wifi, games etc...
Sometimes depends on Modem and Kernel also...
There are many stable Roms out there it all depends on your preference
Installing Jelly Bean 4.1 on Galaxy S GT-I9000
Installing Ice-cream Sandwich 4.0.4 On Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000
Okay thanks!
So I dont need to update the phone from GB(it has it now installed stock) to ICS an then jelly bean or can I just flash jellybean without going to ICS first?

I want to buy a new phone and also the newest android version on it.
If I buy the 4x hd, should I upgrade it to jb? I read in many forums, that there are many cons..

Do NOT upgrade to JB V20a/b under any circumstances! Heating is terrible, battery life almost the same or worse in stand by, few tweaks that are good but nothing worth upgrading. Better upgrade to CM, it should be completed soon.
Used jb for 1day back to ics.

still use stock jb rom (20A) with iodak kernel, and I think for the time being it's the best combination for me

Get Jelly bean, root it and remove bloatware. This way you get the best performance and some nice features from jelly bean update. CM is buggy currently and removing bloatware in Jelly bean is the best experience you can get from this phone, that is if you want to root. if not, you are better off in ICS.
I have not used my phone long enough to know whether ICS was better than V20a. I updated immediately. Going back from JB to ICS is a sore, but I am going test ICS again after a month.
