[Q]Navigation buttons - LG Optimus 4X HD

I know how to enable Navigation buttons on cm10.1 (or just official firmware) Use: qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
But that's ofcoursly not what I wanna ask I wanna ask how to disable the light of our hardware soft buttons at CM10.1 anyone know this? If you know it Please, help me! Because the hardware soft key's light is frustrating me.

Try "Soft Buttons Light", get it from Play Store, when you would like to have the soft buttons permanently off...

Keyboard not working

I have a problem with my Kaiser. The keyboard and the front buttons do not work anymore. Only the center front button and the right side stand-by button are working.
I read here on the forums that it can be a software problem? I didn't made any rom update or other chages, I used the phone as it was from the start. After 2 months of using I got this problem with the keyboard. Any advice or should I get the phone to the Service?
I tried soft reset and after that a hard reset (I backed up the data with Sprite), but the problem persists.
Another thing: not making any changes in keys mapping I noticed that the right side stand-by button was mapped for voice recording! That was quite strange, when I activated the screen in the same time it began recording voice. I correctly remaped the button as it was, but again I don't know how it changed by itself...
when you did the hard reset, did you restore your backup right away? or did you test the buttons right after the hard reset?
I've testet the buttons before making the restore. They had the same problem: not working and the stanby button was also mapped as voice recording.

after a hard reset the power button was set to voice recording? When you refer to the standby button, do you mean the power button?
If in deed you did a Hard Reset then the device would be back to default settings. If you are getting the power button mapped to voice recording then your device is f**ked up badly, or at least the ROM is trashed.
you sure you didn't try to flash your rom or SPL?

No, after the hard reset the voice recording was still mapped... When I reffer to the stanby button I mean, yes, the power button.

Absolutely not! I am not a informatician to play with this kind on mods and installs. I only had my software (YM, iGo etc). Never tried to update or change the rom or the SPL.
If it is like you say, this it can't be repaired in the service?
the same problem, but i have a little more strange things:
- device still mapping power (standby) button for voice commander, even after few hard resets without restoring any previous data
- holding power button mapped for record, so after hard reset, even before aligning screen, device starts recording
- when i'm on a desktop, pressing twice power button (off/on), device going to calling screen and trying to found contact that starts with "edfc"
- when i'm in contacts, pressing twice power button (off/on), device trying to found contact in search, that starts with "edfc"
- keyboard doesn't work, front buttons also too
- when i'm typing any message in notes, for example, i can't erase it - backspace button on virtual keyboard doesn't work also
So, what are you thinking about that? Can anyone help me?
Added:
- can't get into bootloader screen (power+camera+reset)
- in Android front buttons are works, keyboard - too, except 4 buttons. guess which? e,d,f,c
Added:
- re-flashing SPL and few ROM's doesn't help
Anyone?
Or I need get prepared to buy another one?
definitely sounds like a hardware issue. you could disassemble it and check if there are any lose connectors
ok. i've checked with another motherboard and the problem is - ... motherboard. can't be more specific right now, i'll try to find out more.
sigh.....sounds spendy. Been having the same issues, if its the motherboard dont know if i should just hold out on fixing it for a touch pro 2 and use my old nokia for a while. hmmmm, hopefully its not something super spendy. Never thought i would miss my tilt so much T_T

All hardware keys on my Tytn II have stopped responding (including hard keyboard)

Hi,
Just last friday I got my new Tytn II and yesterday I discovered that the Backspace button on my soft keyboard didn't do anything anymore. All other soft buttons where working fine. Then opening the slider key board and trying the back button it didn't work either. Same goes for all (!) keyboard buttons. Then tried the green and red buttons, the tilt wheel and finally all hard buttons on the device. Only the power on/off button works.
The phone can be operated using the stylus. No problems there . I only installed Tom Tom, Remote Desktop and Google Maps. I am thinking of returning the phone to the shop, but my personal data and settings will be gone I think.
It seems like the driver that triggers hard button functions in windows is missing, broken or just plain ignorant. Anybody any ideas on how to troubleshoot and repair this?
Thanks for the trouble.
Cheers,
Donald

OK - obvious things first, this is either going to be a hardware or a software problem. If it's hardware, you need to return it to the shop as it will still be under warranty. If it's software, we'll be able to fix it with a Hard Reset.
Although a Hard Reset will remove all your settings and personal data, it will put the phone back into the state it was when you bought it. Seeing as the keys worked when you bought it, they should go back to working too!
My advice would be firstly to backup everything you need (contacts, e-mails, etc) onto your PC or your Exchange server. Then press and hold both softkeys and press the reset button with the stylus. Keep the softkeys pressed until you see a white screen warning about doing a reset, then release the softkeys. Press the green pickup button to start the reset, then the green button again when prompted to restart the phone. It will take a while to reboot first time, and then it'll go through the same screens it did when you first opened the box. Re-sync all your contacts/e-mails and you're sorted.
If the phone won't respond to the softkeys when you reset, and instead begins a normal reset, then it's definitely hardware. It could simply be a connector that's come loose, but opening the phone up will invalidate your warranty - so in your case, as it's so new, I'd say return it back to the shop and get a working one.
Good luck.
Perform a Hard Reset. That will rule out and correct any software issues. If it works after that it was the software that was messed up. If it doesn't work after that then its more likely a hardware issue and will need to be exchanged.

Where is "the reset buton" that can be pressed with stylus? I have read that on the XDA-Wiki page too, ...but I can't understand what is "the reset buton" (maybe is the power buton ...but I don't need the stylus for press it )

OK for a soft reset there is a small hole to the left of the usb input on your device. Just simply insert the stylus into that hole and push
For a hard reset hold down both soft keys (first softkey to the right of the green button and the second soft key to the left of the "end" button or red button). At the same time insert the stylus into that little hole and give it a gentle push.
If you actually read wiki there would be a nice diagram there for you.
Oh ...I understand now ... Thank you!
This has happened to me twice. I'm not sure what led to it and I've not been able to reproduce it. I think it's a driver issue. A soft reset fixes it.

this has happened on my wifes tilt/8925......worked fine on the way home then after she got home the green pickup button the end call button the windows button and the ok button have all stopped working. I thought it would be hardware but flashed anyway. remapped a couple of other buttons to bring up dialer.............do you think this may be a connector also.......or something more detrimental?
Thanks

touch screen "turn on"...instead of side button...

is there any possible way to be able to touch the screen and return its from the timed out backlight insted of the power button then the actual unlocking....
Not sure about touching screen, but there's an app called NoLock that will make it so there's no lockscreen and hitting the power button unlocks it. Eats battery though.

Is there any way? Probably. Is it a good idea? Probably not. Just having the screen up to your thigh in your pocket would be enough to turn the screen on and thus drain your battery.
Not just drain your battery, but imagine calling people unexpectedly, random texting, somehow enabling options and selecting factory reset . There's a reason why there's a lock/unlock button.
Being a lefty, I wish you could turn the screen on using the volume buttons instead.

I can. Hold them for a second and the screen should turn on when you release them. If it doesn't let me know I'd like to investigate further.

Nope, not working. It turns it on using NoLock but then that just changes the volume too.
Im running Darkys 7 btw.

Holding the volume button does not turn on the screen, you probably touched the power button with you middle finger which holding the volume button with your thumb.
Widget Locker
Try the app WidgetLocker--it's a couple bucks but lets you turn on the screen with the volume buttons if you want (any hardware button). It will also let you customize your lockscreen with widgets and unlock the screen using the soft keys at the bottom if you so desire.
Mentioned this app in previous threads, should really start getting a cut from the developer.

You really should believe people when they say something works. Just because your rom works one way doesn't mean anything about everyone else.
Now if someone would give me a link to the roms which don't unlock due to the volume buttons, I might be able to fix that.
lmao love the music

I am not using a custom ROM. Maybe some custom ROM has that feature added but it definitely does not work on stock AT&T ROM.

That's not a stock ROM by any means.
I wish the volume buttons were lower on the case. I have a tendency to squeeze them with my finger when pressing the power button one-handed.

[Q] Softkey Backlight Not Working

Hi,
like the title suggests the back-light for the softkeys do not turn on, is this a common problem? and is there something I can do about it?
the keys itself work and I don't know if this is related but the trackball is also red all the time.
Any help would be great thanks
kind regards
i don't know what rom you are on or if even rooted, but you can try this if possible--back up first
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28338566/Menu Lights.URL
also there were some steps to cycle your auto/brightness setting on/off with powering down in between cycle--forget exact steps
may be other reasons--not sure

[Q] Lock button doesnt always work

I have a Galaxy S i896 (Rogers captivate model), been running CM9 on it for quite some time now and I never had a problem with it.
Until recently, my lock button stopped working. Thankfully, CM9 allows me to use the volume buttons to turn on the screen, and I can lock the device from the notification bar. However, I sometimes get that screen that pops up when you long press the power button (airplane mode, screen shot, reboot etc...) but I don't know how. Also, whenever I remove and re-insert my battery, the phone turns on by itself! So it would seem that the button is stuck somehow, and once the phone is turned on, it is being ignored.
I read somewhere that this is sometimes caused by rooting the phone, however I wasn't completely sure about how true this information was, and therefore my question is: does anybody know what causes this, and how can I fix it!
Thanks!

I also have this problem with a stock ROM. The power button doesn't work and i cant even flash another ROM in recovery because of that. It only turns on when putting the charger on or replacing the battery (turns on by itself).
It seems that your power button is busted. I had the same problem, though I manage to have a way to make things alright. If youre on a CM9/C10 youre good. Download button remapper at remap the capacitive search button and make it act as a power button. So, if you're waking up the phone you will use the volume rockers and if you want to sleep and lock, use the search soft key.
