Help Install Jelly bean from Gingerbread - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys this is my second day with my second hand N7000
is is now on gingerbread and I want to update it to Jelly Bean.
I read how to do it with odin and download neccesary file (LAZ 808 MB)
This is my note info: Version. 2.3.6, Baseband N7000UBKL1, kernel 2.6.35.7- gb4846d2 compilation gingerbread vckl1
My concern is if I can go directly to gongerbread or need to do something first..
PD My Note is rooted
Thanks

you can go directly to JB from GB . Flash rom using Odin. you can boot into recovery and wipe data if you want but not necessary

Thanks.
I understand this procedure wont affect any unlock or something ritgh
Sorry to ask U again but are U shure that It can be done TO MY DEVICE without problems

Unlock? You mean Sim Unlock. Not really sure but there have been cases where the phone locked again when it was upgraded. If its not a carrier locked version then there wont be any issues.

That is what I mean. My device is unlock. Anyway i will try
Thanks

Ive downloaded Jellly bean and I only get one file: KIES_HOME_N7000XXLSZ_N7000OXALSZ_906407_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5 that I understand I should use in ODIN PDA.
But in some places I read that ther is Phone and CSC Files.
Should I install only this 808 BM file I mentiones above??
Thanks

If there is only one file use it in Pda. That's all you need.

Can U confirm me if this is the last version.
Is preferable to install using odin or should I leave Kies this task

It's that the German version? If you then there is a newer lt4 rom out. Check in Samfirmware.com
Odin flash is better.

Ok I updated first with Kies to 4.0.4 Baseband: M7000BLR1 Kernel 3.0.15 N7000BLR3 Compilation IMM76D.UBLR
And now when Im trying to install jelly bean with odin I get FAIL (did it twice)
This device is unlocked. I is from an uruguayan operator named movistar. Could this has something to do with this failure
Thanks

Where does the odin fail? Did you put the phone in download mode. Try with kies if you have JB too

Kies gave me no update now
I entered into download mode (USB debugging on)
i can see n7000 in IDCOM but it fails in the very first step of conection
Im downloading now: N7000UBLSF_N7000DORLS5_DOR.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Is there any specific requirement to flash JB
Thanks

Before using odin, you need to kill all kies processes. Else it will not work. Open task manager and end kies processes.

Im pretty shure that I did it. Any way I will try again and let U jknow

[Q] Bought second hand sgs and it has 2.2...

Hi all,
I bought a second hand SGS and it has 2.2 froyo
How can i put it back to normal 2.1 android please?
i dont want root or anything...
can any1 help? ill put a few quid in your paypal if you can take the time to guide me through it?
Well, you could always just goto settings and initiate a factory reset... You'll lose root and revert back to the stock eclair 2.1 ROM.
where is that option?
i found sd card and phone storage and
internal sd card format option
i notice another option in privacy that says factory data reset. but that looks like it might be just personal data reset not full reset thingy,
if what your saying works i will be very happy!

Think about this for a second....a factory reset is somehow magically going to pull stock 2.1 out of .....where exactly?
the OP is going to have to Odin back to stock....plenty of info here on how to do this....
what is Odin?
the search functions are down at the moment so i cant search the forums
Maybe you can help mate? please!
Its laggying badly this 2.2

Why else would it be called FACTORY reset ? It would be the firmware provided with the phone, which would be eclair as opposed to the froyo build he received on a rooted second hand phone.
The option is in settings-> privacy-> factory data reset
You can't get Froyo without flash to a froyo ' factory' firmware. In this case, A beta firmware. Whenever you flash to a new firmware, you lost your old firmware completely.

yeah i guessed it wouldnt be that simple.
guys can you give me a clue?
im thinking this: see if im anywhere near.
download odin
connect phone to pc
restart holding the volume down, power and home
flash with original files - im having trouble finding these
will my samsung be 2.1 and non rooted after that?
will i be able to re-root if i need to? ie to apply lagfix

1. Download odin,
2. Download the needed firmware files from Samsung firmwares,
3. Phone off. Vol down, menu, power
4. Add pit512/513 (can't remember which), pda, modem, csc in odin
5. Tick re-partition
6. Connect phone to pc
7. Click start and wait for your phone to restart
All done, This is just a quick and rough guide how to do it, there's a much better guide on this forum what to do and how
do you kno where the firmware files are exactly? i cant search the forums for the guide.. search function is down.
A quick look and you'll find 'forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596'
For firmwares, a quick Google 'samfirmware' you'll need to sign up to access the files in the firmware section That's if there not in the above link
the first one you must to do is download the firmware file through the internet,
then download the drives and odin and pit512 file,
and then install the drives ,then run the odin, select the re-partition,in pit, select the pit512,in pda, select the firmware which named with pda,in modem and csc is also select the firmware named with modem and csc,
shut down your phone then press vol- ,home ,power at the same time, you will see a android ,
connect your phone with the pc,
when the com is turn green ,press start.and wait..after you flash the firmware, you should format the sdcard and wipe your data..
thanks guys
i think ive sorted it, but still seem rooted somehow
is this the right firmware?
2.1-update1
basedband version I9000XXJM4
Kernel version
[email protected]#
Build number
ECLAIR.XWJM8
If thats all good! then thanks very much guys.. but root still looks iffy to me.
will this stop me from receiving updates from samsung? ie propper froyo when its out.
damn i just read that i think i should have used the 803pit and not the 512. is that right?

You can get the firmware here http://www.samfirmware.com/home.htm
Depending on what country you are in, there are diferent firmwares.
Download odin from that page aswell.
They also have a how to guide on how to flash with odin.
From my understanding you won't be getting Froyo OTA, you will be getting it via KIES. But with all the modding going on I doubt KIES will let you so you like everyone else here will have to get it installed via ODIN, no big deal at all . Just check back xda when froyo is in news for sgs

Will this also be applicable to me ? I have only rooted my phone. It's unrooted now... And I've not deviated from the stock firmware.
I advice you to check if the 3 Button Combo works on your Phone. If not, apply the 3 Button SBL Fix before messing with ROMs to help recover the device in case of a brick.

[ROM][DDJPA][Gingerbread] Get Indian galaxy tab 7 to stock DDJPA

Hello
i have an Indian galaxy tab 7 p1000
recently i flashed it with gingerbread unoficially
now i need to flash it with stock rom for gingerbread in India
edit 1: It had p1000ddjm2
edit 2: Multiupload is dead so all links are too
edit 3: DDJPA You can download it from http://db.tt/E5bdK66R
edit 4: due to generating excessive traffic dropbox has disabled my public links. post your mail ids if you want it i will add it to shared dropbox folder
Same problem here.
Anybody please help.
TIA
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
CHECK, you will get your 'p1000ddjm2', flash with 'Odin', try rooting and change to Indian CSC (search..!) and Kies should update automatically...
Samsung galaxy tab 7" in India gets Gingerbread.
after installing DDJM2 kies goes into connecting loop
new firmware DDJPA 2.3.3 has to be manually flashed

Does your phone get recognized by Kies you should be able to do it
Only if you have flashed another rom do you have to do it manually
First know how to use odin.

there's another thing I need to know before i flash. it looks like the modem.bin and CSC files are contained in a single file in the DDJPA flash file you posted above. does this mean i do not need to specify the 'CSC' and 'phone' files in ODIN? I mean, specifying only the 'PDA' file on ODIN will be sufficient, right?

Ya..But yesterday I finally got the notification and got my Tab updated to Gingerbread.. Had to root it again for making some apps like ROM Manager, Root Explorer work..(used ODIN 1.7 and help from Google }
Observations : NFS Shift does not work..the screen goes off after EA logo..
The RAM utilized is always more than 300MB even in Flight mode,..(using ADW launcher) Even if try to kill running apps, the max i get is 290 MB utilized RAM..
E-book and Daily Briefing - Missing !!
I updated the firmware with odin 1.7.
But later i found "E-book" and "Daily Briefing" go missing !!
Additionally i see "Music Hub" added in the menu.
Can anyone confirm if the missing apps are absent in firmware or just in my tab as i flashed it over "DXJPI" and didn't flash/reset the device to retain the data.

any fix for this ???

It was not that easy for me. The device was originally from Arab region on which i had managed to load Indian ROM.
GB loaded and Odin gave pass, but again went back to download mode. On a hunch i tried using the old CSC and Modem file and voila it restarted. But then went and got stuck with invalid certificate. Cleared up the cache and hurrah! restarted to Indian GB
Many thanks for the ROM file.

[Q] Galaxy Note from China (GT-I9228G), change to western ROM?

Hello all,
During my travels in China, I picked up a GT-I9228G galaxy note.
Back in the UK now, and hoping I could change the rom to the english varient of GT-N7000? I am assuming GT-I9228G and GT-N7000 is the same device, just different regional roms(?).
The boot screen is chinese. It has chinese apps on it which I cant remove and no app store amongst other things. Ideally, would like to make the phone all english. Is this possible?
Just a bit of background on me:
I used to own a HTC PDA which I swap roms from developers here and very familair with jail breaking on apple products. Andriod however is new to me. I am a quick learner, so any pointers would be great please guys/gals.

I guess you could... Lots of other people bought their galaxy note from Hong Kong and also from china and they all changed their ROM for a same reason of yours.
Does not the 9220 using a snapdragons and not exynos? I not sure but I thing I have read it somewhere so carefully before flashing.

So, potentially I could just change to the one below?
N7000XXKKA ## 2.3.6 2011 November N7000CPWKK3 United Kingdom (Carphone Warehouse) Download
The box says 1.4 + <insert chinese characters here>
From wiki -A dual-core 1.4Ghz Exynos processor or a 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S3 processor (AT&T, SK Telecom, KT, LG U+)
So my guess is Exynos. Anyway to double check?
ok, so I have downloaded the above rom and Odin3 v1.83 from sammobile.
I have opened Odin3 and specified the PIT file (Q1_20110914_16GB)
I have also ticket re-partition, auto reboot and F.reset timer.
I have loaded the rom under PDA (N7000XXKKA_N7000CPWKK3_N7000XXKK5_HOME.tar), everything else is unticked.
I have the phone in download mode ready.
I just need to know if the above is ok or am I missing anything before I click START and brick my phone?
Thanks,
Chris.
well I tried anyway.
That didnt work.
Now the phone says "software update fail"
I can still get into download mode, buts thats about it.
tried with and without the PIT file.
Anyone know what I should do now please?
I'd say you'll have to find a rom for that model
maybe http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9220&r=2#regiona
You might have bricked your phone by checking repartition in odin. You should not have. Now you probably need to find a pit file for your model.

If you could enter download mode then try these steps
1. Open Odin and flash Pit file only and Re-partition ticked. (do not attach any ROM)
2. After this again flash ROM without pit file and re-partition un-ticked
This should work.

Thanks,
The first part seemed to work ok, so then went onto flashing again without the PIT file. Failed
Back to square one (software update fail message).
Going to try the original ROM, but takes about 6 hours to download from china!.
Ideally, really dont want to use the original ROM though! I'm guessing the original ROM isnt going to work now anyway since ODIN3 has re-partitioned the device(?).

Oh, I forgot to mention. I read somewhere (forgot where) that I should root the device prior to changing the ROM. Is that true? If so, I dont think thats something I can do in current state

but everyone has got there n7000 updated to ics
i havent rooted it nor plan to what should i do....is there a problem with my phone???

Check your csc, then you will see ics is not out for your phone yet.
Dial *#06# that will show hour emei. Write it down, then dial *#272*yourimeinumberhere# that will show your csc, you can change it here, it will wipe your data thought.
Dependant on your rom, you will be able to change it. Then it is still no guarantee update is available thought kies or ota. You can then download rom from sammobile.com. Notice thought all current ics have bug for note, that when you do a factory reset, wipe data or wipe from cwm can brick your phone. So judge if its worth the risk. If I were you I would wait or download cm9, they build a kernel without the bug. Note thought either way you can get warrantee issues

well he said he`s just using stock, there`s really nothing us stock people can do? mines from saudi arabia, i find the rooting, and stuff kind of confusing for me so i dont wanna risk it
There are stock multicsc. Without root you can flash it throught pc odin. Then you can update after changing csc or flash the rom you want emediately
All at own risk

patience people, just follow what the dude above said. I am from the Philippines but my csc is from Poland (xeo).
same issue
I am also from Pakistan. The note that I bought is an Arabian distribution with jpla1 ROM. I am also not receiving the update. Though I got the previous update via it's from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6. What do we do now what do we do???

See my post above, only thing you can do is wait for csc arabian ics, or change csc.
Reposted steps, you will lose data.
Download stock gb rom from country which has csc and ics. Flash it throught pc odin. Perform factory reset from dialer. Change csc with steps I posted before. To make sure right one is selected.
Then update throught kies or if available ota. If no update is available, screw it and download ics rom, flash through pc odin, do not select repartition if you dont have pit file. Do not select clear efs.
Extra info:
I cs or gb rom stock roms, unzip them, should be single tar. Md5 file. In pc odin put these in pda. For flashing phone needs to be in download mode. Press volume down, power and home button simultaniously and keep pressed when phone is booting. Then when it shows download mode connect to pc and open odin. Sometimes takes couple tries press volume button up to confirm dowload mode. Now you can start
Flashing. It takes some time, do not disconnect phone. Wait till odin says passed.
Now you have lost warrantee, all at own risk, but upside you could have working ics. Note do not restore backups as they will most likely cause battery drain and errors.
Do not ever perform reset or factory reset from ics, with any app, not even samsung cause it could brick your phone.
If this helped you can donate to my favourife devs neobuddy, xplodwild and hardcore and Imilka
Find their details in stunner rom, cm9 rom and speedmod developers thread. And paranoid android

Guys, Im sorry you find rooting and such hard.
I installed ICS and I love it. Its very nice and havent found anything wrong with it.
Now, this method I am going to show you will put ICS ontop of your Gingerbread, so you will keep your settings, apps and other things. Its easy and only a few things to do, so, lets get started:
Download the ICS rom (hong kong): HERE
Then copy it to your phone
Now for rooting:
Download the Files first and put in your SDCARD CWM, SU-BusyBox
Reboot to recovery (hold vol up, power and home)
Choose and apply the CWM update.
Then do the same with SU.
Choose and Install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
You are now rooted.
Reboot.
Download and install Mobile Odin.
After installing this, open it and grant it superuser permissions.
Scroll down to open file, select your file and press ok.
Select inject enable everroot, and everything below it, then press flash firmware.
Do a MD5 check if you wish (dont have to, but it is best).
Then after 2-3mins, it should install and reboot.
After reboot, it will take ~5mins to startup as the applications need to be altered for ICS.
So, hopefully, you did that right and now you have ICS!
(Credit for these files go to dr.ketan)

How did you do that ? My CSC code shows its from Poland. Will changing the CSC code to Germany will make it get the update ?
Or if there is any other way please do tell.
Actually flashing a ROM is not that difficult. Just follow what the senior member's post. Follow step by step and you will lead to success. Try few more times and you will be used to it. Don't worry about the binary count as we can reset the binary count using Triangle away and binary reset.
I flash my SGN more than 15 times, keep flashing till I get the fastest ROM I wanted. From GB, German ICS, CM9, Rocket ROM, Criskelo, Litening ROM..
Now I stick to KingDriod. This ROM is damn fast.. Can give it a try..
Cheers..
No need to apply roms

Teletec the official distributor and service provider of samsung in Pakistan has no clue how to restore my phone!
So dont risk your phone.
