Yes. You can get rid of them without installing CM as well, but you do need to be rooted.
What's the easiest way to restore back to stock.. I just did my kindle he 8.9 and need to unroot.

There are so many sticky threads like this on XDA, but I just wanted to personally say THANK YOU to you Sir! Like many of us on XDA I get to play the "Holiday Tech Guy" for my family, and with this tablet being older I was dreadful when my Sister dropped it in my lap at Thanksgiving dinner. But, because of your awesome organization it was actually bearable, Man!
I started off with the fire 7in first gen. Now I just inherited a hd 8.9 from my father in law. I'm impressed with the continued development of the Kindle devices and this thread for keeping it all together in one comprehensive repository. Thank you to the OP!

It's just me or file is corrupted? Tried to unzip it (just to test it) on windows and mac with several programs, it doesn't work.
Thanks I will try and download in a few see what is going on

Just Downloaded on my windows pc can open zip file with winrar and builtin zip for windows no corruption here possibly just your download
Anyone running this? Feedback? Love this rom so I'm definitely jumping. . Thanks for the work
I have it downloaded but have been way to busy with life to commit proper time to work through it. I hope to install it over this weekend. Any experience with it yet for you?
I've been running into a weird rendering issue with this rom, but the original and new. During screen rotation, there seems to be a delay and the screen content is compress or expanded...
I belive this is a known issue as the pa devs have started to make changes to the launcher app removing stretching hope this will be resolved soon thanks for your feedback I don't have a 8.9 to test with I only have a 7" but I build for both just seems logical any other feedback is always welcome
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I noticed that when you switch orientation a few times the entire system slows to a crawl. However if you keep the orientation locked things run pretty smoothly.
If you lock landscape you can move icons on the launcher =)
Nice Rom very good job!! Seems to have a volume enhancement which really comes in handy with Netflix and Youtube, that`s one key thing that has been bumming me out making good use of the devices beautiful audio quality.

No comments about the display rotation bug so i'm under the impression it still exists? Hashcode's build rotates just fine.
I downloaded it straight to my kindle and did a dirty flash over the old version and its working fine. The rotation still looks glitchy but it worked a few times.
Is there a changelog for the latest build?

Yep, I'm holding off on it until they appear on the CM Updater.
I need some feedback on this ROM. I'm looking to enable CM 10.2 nightlies but I want to make sure there's no blockers.
Only issue I came across seemed to be an issue with sdcard paths somewhere.
Titanium backup and rom toolbox had issues finding and restoring any backups. Might just be user error but since you asked.......

Been using your 4.3 on my KF1 since release. Haven't had big issues. I'll install this one on my KF2 and let you know how it goes after a couple days.
Been wanting to try out the KFHD 7" version too, but I think my wife has officially stolen my HD

I've been having random reboots, but that's it thus far.
Only issue I've had is being unable to delete bloat. Have r/w permissions but keep getting "such-and-such app cannot be deleted." Works fine on 10.1.
To round up the whole thing.
Bugs that o noticed:
1. Bootanimation is broken/looks crazy xD
2. Random hot boots, so Rom related and not kernel related
3. Random bsods'
4.sometimes realy laggy animation.memory leak?
5. Battery is loading and suddenly it stops. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature to prevent battery damage.
Thats my bugs sofar.
And btw hashcode keep up your amazing work!

Works well for me, dirty flashed even. Haven't run into any issues at all. Possible faster battery drain but that could be my usage gone up, I don't have any metrics to back that up.
Great work as usual! Much thanks.

Flashed it two days ago, wiped Dalvik/Cache, everything fine. Previous ROM was nightly build 2013-07-31 on my KindleFire2.
No strange behaviour. Antutu benchmark result raised 150 points.
Been running this since release on a fresh install. No issues other than some app incompatibility in the play store. Getting "unknown error code". But that was expected. Looking forward to nightlies.
Reinstalled and realized all the issues I had were with app compatibility and not the ROM.
Rom is 100%

Which of these models is gsm so i can try flashing this on atrix hd?
Awesome awesome!! Been waiting in anticipation for this will try as soon as possible!
EDIT: Ok, I have only had limited time to test. But briefly put things looks promising here:
Installed without any problems (using latest TWRP in my case). The same bugs that exist in CM 11 are also present here, which is it to be expected (e.g. broken video playback). This is perfectly natural for such an early release and no doubt these will get sorted out as development progress. I am glad to try out this early build. For an alpha it seems very stable and definitely looks promising! I initially tried the official Slim Gapps (as linked to). They seemed fine. Since then I have installed ART compatible Gapps from the CM thread (13/11 i believe). Now running in ART runtime mode. Yes this does introduce some problems and not all apps are compatible, however from my experience ART also introduce a previously unseen level of smoothness. Will continue to use this the next days and of cause eagerly follow development.
@darkspadez (and all other other involved devs of cause): Congrazt on this first public SlimKat build for our phones!

I am using latest twrp recovery found here in the RAZR development forum. I can't say if this the best option though. I can only say that in my case it worked fine (install, backup and restore).
I'm one of the devices running the buggy EMMC.
Error is the same as all the others (I wish there were a kernel fix for it):
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed

I was flashing fine with cwm 6.0.3.6 for the epinter build. I did finally update, but I had to use a .bat file in conjunction with a special fastboot.exe file to actually upgrade the recovery, because otherwise it would just fail to upload. I was having backup issues with TWRP, so I just stick with CWM now. Haven't had any issues. If you want to try that .bat .exe combo I found, let me know.

update: did wipe, installed cm12 clean with no errors, installed gapps clean with no errors! this maybe normal but progress bar in TWRP did not move after "swipe to install" until file 3 of 3 gapps was installing and it was almost complete (had my heart beating a little faster than normal) : ) but then all was good! first boot took about 6 to 7 minutes i would say (meant to time it but forgot) have went through all settings and all seems good, wireless good, all gapps seem good, not a single bug/glitch/crash SO FAR! thanks a million Hashcode! continuing to test out everything right now but all seems good!
Mike
OK I noticed one major thing....I lost root. Why did that happen? I did not lose root after I flashed cm11. Is this because its alpha unofficial release? Thanks in advance for any input!
Mike
Pretty dang good for a first build. I think a new TWRP and f2fs is going to bring the life back to this device. Its been pretty laggy ever sense the Kit Kat builds. I don't remember Jelly Bean being this slow. Maybe I'm just used to faster devices now, but I've always adored my Amazon Jem. Only thing I've seen thus far is Chrome Browser crashes after a minute or two, a bit laggy overall, a battery whore, and Google Launcher flat out doesn't work. Could be the gapps package though. Awesome work so far my friend, real treat. Thanks Hash'

Just flash a SuperSU zip and root is back. I think it's a CM issue because I lost root on other CM12 devices as well recently.

There was two download tabs in the gapps link. Top one was junk as you described, I grabbed that one first also. But the bottom download tab was correct gapps for LP with matching md5.

Flash a zip as in with adb install or just doing regular apk install will work? Thanks
Mike
I installed cm12 and gapps clean with no errors, no problems so far. No root when tried to install apps with root access...the solution was easy: in Configuration, Developer Options, Root Access tab.
Thanks Hashcode!

Try using PA GAPPS located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56832776. Both Chrome Browser and Google Now Launcher work. I flashed the Full Modular package (clean flash with the ROM).
@Hashcode another great job - can't thank you enough.

@jaramosparra thanks for the reminder! have been so excited about trying this out i did not even think about enabling those options.!
Mike
Root Works Fine
Root is now enabled through developer options.
Been running this since release and I have to say that it is functioning remarkably well. Almost a DD.
Does anyone know if Philz Touch 6.48 (the latest) has F2FS support?
think you for you working!
Didn't think that I would have Lollipop on my old KFHD before my HTC One M8!!
I have been running this for 3 or 4 days and all seems to be running great for me. I have found with the previous KitKat builds that it would only start to slow down if I installed too many apps. So far I just installed what I need (I just generally use it to browse the internet, read news and run any apps that cast to my chromecast) and it is certainly not any slower than Kitkat. One thing I did do a bit different was to install the "Micro Modular Package" from the PA Gapps Package in the link that BobJayJr posted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56832776) to keep as much space available as I could.
Thanks very much for your time and effort Hashcode. Has kept my old Tablet going so much longer than I expected when I bought it
Been running for 2 days without issue. Is there any plans for an LTE version for working Bluetooth ?
Quick question: Has anybody done a backup from TWRP of the DATA partition and restored it after installing CM12 + Gapps?
I've done it, and it's been stuck on the CM boot logo for 5-10 minutes.
I've tried without restoring data and although it was a long boot but it did eventually boot. Any suggestions?
UPDATE: It booted so just ignore me
It was a little too slow with restoring the DATA partition so I just started from scratch - anyway so far so good. ROM is wicked. Thanks for the work

Would it be safe to perform a dirty flash from CM11, or would I need to do a clean wipe?

Please thank scott.hart.bti who is the creator of Beanstalk ROM and the Cyanogenmod Team whose work is the base of this ROM!
**About
Beanstalk is a CM based ROM with a few minor tweaks here and there to make a pretty smooth android experience.
**Install
WIPE (data, cache, and Dalvik)...you aint coming from CM12 so this will have to be a fresh and clean install
Install ROM...download available here
Install GAPPS if you so choose...available here or what ever variation you so choose
OPTIONAL install SuperSU...available here. (there is a slight bug where it may not install on its own)
OPTIONAL wipe chaches before reboot
Reboot
Enjoy!
**Download
Jan 31, 2015 here
**Change Log
Jan 31, 2015 - Initial build
**Known Issues
SuperSU is supposed to install after the ROM installs by default...for the KF2 it seems a little buggy. If thats the case you can flash after 1st boot.
Overall the system seems a little choppy not super smooth yet.
I'll get some screen shots up sometime...so there is none at the moment.
Lollipop at LAST!

Okay maybe I was little early on its release...I'm starting to get a lot of force closes
You're still awesome
Your into says: "Please thank scott.hart.bti who is the creator of Beanstalk ROM and the Cyanogenmod Team whose work is the base of this ROM!" First, thank you scott.hart.bte and Cyanogenmod Team for all of your work, as well as you Obsolete1. Question: I have a STOCK KF2d Gen. I assume I will need to root first, then set up twrp, 2nd bootloader and other files as though I'm loading Otter2's android 4.4.4? I also assume I pick up with your Lolipop rom, gapps and SU at the same point in the process where I would be installing CM11.0 + 3.0.50 Kernel for Kindle Fire 2 and the gapps for it? Are my assumptions correct? Thank you again for your work on this project.
First root access then use fastboot to flash boot.img recovery 2nd bootloader then you upgrade twrp to 2.6.3.1 then you can flash this rom just don't flash anything from cm 11
Works for me. Thanks for the additional info because I would have missed the twrp upgrade to 2.6.3.1.

Are there any plans to update this "unofficial" version? I'd like to try nightlys and ultimately the "official" version. Thanks.
Ikr its like he gave up or he is secretly working on it
I'm interested in this too, would love to see some screenshots. If this becomes reasonably stable I will def give it a try.

Yes and no....busy home life at the moment plus I'm in to process of chaning distros so things are kind of a mess. This is my "other" project that does not get as much attention. My phone which runs the same thing gets more attention because I use it everyday unlike my KF. Give me a couple more days and I should have another build.
Again sorry for not responding, I didnt get any notifications that there where posts here I assumed most people had moved on so it went to way "back-burner" on the things to do. But now that I see some interest I will try to make it a little more important. Thanks again for the interest. :good:

Great work man. My SuperSU is not opening up and after it freezes the whole system starts to force close, I already reinstalled it using TWRP but no luck, I updated to the latest version using an apk I downloaded but it still won't open up and.
Can you help me root it?
Also very excited about lollipop for KF2! Let me know if I can test anything.

I have TWRP on there, can't I just download the rom, reboot into twrp, wipe properly and install?

Yes if you have the minimum required version to install Lollipop. Because you already have CM installed it means you already have performed all the necessary bootstrap tricks.
