Micro HDMI - HDMI+Audio or VGA+audio? - Nexus 10 Accessories

Hi all
i was wondering if anyone was using their nexus with a monitor/PC display?
i've got a perfectly nice 21" dell LCD sitting opposite me and i'd like to hook that up to my nexus
however, it obviously doesnt have speakers!
is it possible to use a splitter of some sort that splits the hdmi to hdmi and audio or a programme that lets me output the video from hdmi but the audio from the 3.5mm?
many thanks

I just now hooked my hdmi to my TV and hooked some ear buds to the tablet... When I hook the buds in it reroutes the audio to the buds... So it should work for you with speakers that have a 3.5mm jack

Has anybody found an adaptor to attach normal stereo headphones or other headphones that will work with the XDA apart from those that come with it?

I got an adapter from expansys.com. It works great with my headset, About £10 I think.

Bluetooth Stereo adapter

I tried plugging in my Note 2 through my car stereo and it doesn't recognize the device. It's a cheaper stereo so it doesn't have bluetooth. So, I'm looking for a bluetooth adapter, any suggestions?

I have this one and I'm pretty happy with it...
Plantronics K100 works best of allnive tested. This is an FM Modulated device so youll need to use the FM radio stations.

I have the HTC Car A200 that is about the size of a flash drive and I love mine. It hangs off your AUX in port and has a built in battery. I leave mine plugged in to the USB port all the time for power and I actually picked up a right angle adapter so it hangs down, but other than that I love it.
The best part is that it uses aptX so you get better quality than regular A2DP streaming.
I'm a cheap. I have and use this when needed. I've recommended it to coworkers as well and they use it all the time: Coby CA-745. It's an FM transmitter, but uses a 3.5mm jack. It also has another cigarette port so you can use, say, your car charger for your phone.

Chromecast no sound from HDMI to VGA adapter with audio ouput

I am trying to use chromecast with my old projector which only got VGA input. I purchase a HDMI to VGA adapter which also has a audio output.
The audio works with my xbox360 and Patriot box office (the PBO needs to be set to HDMI LPCM Stereo). However, I could not get any audio using the same adapter from Chromecast. Is anything special about the audio output in Chromecast since the adapter is working with other devices?
VGA is only for display. It doesn't have the capability to transfer sound.

I'm going to start off with the possible stupid reasons so please don't get insulted by the question! LOL
Are you sure your in the right Audio In? Most of the time VGA in will have it's own Audio Input which in most cases is a Mini Phone (headphone) Jack. Hard to see sometimes unless your looking for it.
If thats not the issue, Check the Menu on the Projector to see if there is a setting for which Audio source to use when on VGA.
I'm guessing you have a bunch of connectors (I'm betting 10, 3 for Analog/Composite, 5 for Component, 1 VGA and one for VGA Audio.)
But sometimes both the Component and VGA use the Analog Audio inputs for their audio, Depends on the Manf.

I am connect the audio jack on the adapter directly to a set of earphone. That works at least for xbox 360.

Well it may not be enough power to drive headphones but enough to drive the XBox which is probably line level in.
Headphones require a higher power signal than Line Level...You might hear something but it will be too low and possibly not at all.
If you can send me a link to the device you have I can take a look to see what it puts out.
In most cases they only put out Line Level not Speaker Level.

Given that the device seems to be powered by the HDMI connection, almost certain it does not have an audio amplifier.
As a whole the device seems a bit scary to me, especially since it claims to support HDMI 1.2 (not sure where the chips are coming from at a $10 price tag), the support mail address is gmail, and support number is in Mountain View, CA - so just might be someone importing stuff. selle reviews on Newegg are spotty at best, but who knows these days...

He would have been better off getting an HDMI to component breakout box. Or a new Projector that has an HDMI in! LOL
The Boxes I use cost around the same as a Projector would! LOL

I'm quite happy with my HDfury2 output from Chromecast.
If the $10 solution works, great, but unless it's using recycled HDCP chips from a major manufacturer, it's likely to get blacklisted.

USB-C Audio

I just ordered this phone and am waiting for it to come in, but was wondering if USB-C Audio works. I'm moving from an iPhone 7 to this and was hoping it would so that I can use it the same way with my in-car head unit as I did with just connecting the lightning cable

My brother bought the Huawei P20 and I just plugged in the USB-C headphones and they work. And that very well.
Yes. I have simple USB-C CDLA earphones and they work.
Anyone using a DAC with it?

Oh awesome, any idea if that would apply to being used with an in-car head unit? Kinda like how you can plug an iPhone into a lightning cable and it'll route the audio that way I assume it would if it works with earphones

Yes: Moto X4 => USB-C OTG cable => USB-A cable => Musical Fidelity V-DAC => Schiit Magni 3 headphone amplifier => Sennheiser HD 700 headphones.

Is there a certain standard I should be looking for? I tried using a Creative sound card / DAC with my old phone and it detected it as a keyboard.

Type C to 3.5mm possible?

Is that possible to use the type c to 3.5mm converter for 7 plus?
why?! you have 3,5 mm jack
I have a HTC Usb to 3.5mm adaptor that I used on my HTC U ultra and it works great with the Nokia 7 plus as well.
I think the audio is louder using the adaptor and better quality.

because the sound quality from the 3.5mm is so poor
I have huawei p20 headphones also with usb-c and these are better than anything else.

Want to know does it worths to buy the adaptor just for sound quality improvement?
That's a difficult question as I always find audio a very personal thing.
I have just tried my Akg K451 headphones with both the audio jack on the phone and the HTC adaptor.
The HTC 3.5 mm adaptor is significantly louder than the audio jack at full volume. I notice some distortion in the audio jack that is absent on the HTC adaptor. I think the audio from the adaptor is fuller and far more pleasing to my ear.
I have no idea how these things work, for instance does the HTC adaptor have its own DAC or is it simply a pass through device? The difference in audio level would suggest to me the presence of its own DAC so maybe that would account for the difference in audio .
Maybe it's worth buying the adaptor just to drive certain headphones better. I have a pair of status audio headphones at home that I normally use with a headphone amp to drive them I will try them on the 7 plus later to see how they sound with the audio jack and the adaptor.
Sorry I can't be more definitive.
By the way the HTC adaptor is around £10 in the UK direct from HTC.
Is the sound quality and volume really that bad or is it just some specific/batch units?
I listen to a lot of audiobooks on the go and it would be a shame if this was a dealbreaker.
No I don't find the audio particularly bad and most of the time it is loud enough.
Most of the time I use the 3.5 jack and don't have a problem but when I'm sitting listening to music and doing nothing else I prefer the audio from my HTC adapter.
The volume will depend on the impeadence of the headphones used, my AKG headphones are always much louder than my status audio ones when used in the same device.

I think it can,I used a Xiaomi's type-c headset that can be used
Quite strangely, My Mi A2's USB-C to 3.5 adapter DOES NOT WORK with my Nokia 7+
