Chances of Losing My SIM Unlock - Motorola Atrix HD

OK hi guys, I've done a couple of searches and didn't come up with anything so I wanted to be safe than sorry. I have an AT&T atrix HD and love it but I did the JB update and waited for the bootloader unlock and root 1 click methods. Well when I got the phone it was ICS and I want to revert it to back to ICS for lapdock support and I just kinda liked the feel of it. Now my major question is if I do the downgrade am I gonna lose my SIM unlock because I currently do not have the money to get me an unlock code. Thanks for your help guys it is very much appreciated

If it was locked in the first place then , yes there is a good chance.
SENT BY POST...

Yeah when I got it I was told it had been unlocked, guess I shouldn't have upgraded it but then again I was new to the Atrix scene. The last Motorola I had was the Droid 1

I if you are talking about sim unlock then it will never relock once it is unlocked.

Yeah we're talking Sim unlocked I have my Atrix unlocked for T-Mobile. So if I won't lose it I want to revert to ICS which is what it was when I bought it
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app

The sim unlock is like unlocking the bootloader... it cannot be reverted. Years ago, many Motorola firmwares could really sim lock again the phone... but i'm talking about the old V3, Z1 and every P2K, P2K05 and MotoMagx phones. But that was on 2004/08!!! Today this is not an issue anymore.

I have a ATT unlocked phone I use on Bell/Telus in Canada.
I downgraded to ICS (yes, for the lapdock correct hdmi support; and by the way, **** you Motorola )
and the phone is still SIM unlocked
So no you will not loose the SIM unlock by downgrading.

Fantastic, question answered and I can't wait to get my lapdock for my birthday and enjoy my Atrix HD even more than I already do.

Unlocked phone and updating software

Hi guys, im new here and I just got my phone having switched from a 9700. I work for Rogers so im not stupid when it comes to phones yet im a virgin when it comes to android...
My question is, if I have unlocked my captivate so that it works with Telus, will any type of sw update relock my phone forcing me to purchase unlock code again?
Would some relock it and some wont?
Im aware this is probably a very basic question but I would appreciate it if you humored me and enlightened me

Well if you have unlocked using the free unlock method you should already have your unlock code so you can write it down somewhere and if it happens to lock the phone after the update you can just enter the same unlock code. I believe the code does not change after an update.
Yes, I kept the code, I asked because I was worried somehow the code would change. Thanks, I guess I got my answer.

Unfortunately att has a policy for unlocking their phones. If you give them a call they can give you the details. Other than that though you're gonna have to pay.

Att should unlock it, since they are not the exclusive carrier, that's what I was told when I called about the Pantech crossover, its exclusive and can't be until December.

This, and carrier unlocking are two different things. Carrier unlocking requires a code.

Yea while the Thrill may have a couple Identical Twin sister phones out there, ATT is going to say they have exclusive rights the P925 Thrill 4G all day.

Not exactly when you install CWM you can do a G-Free and a Radio OFF to unlock the radio baseband so whenever you flash a rom some of them run this commands

[Q] Ultimate Question - Unlocked Bootloader?

So to help us determine future mod capabilities such as custom recovery's and rom's any word if the at&t note 3 has an unlocked bootloader?... Only those with it in hand would be able to answer this question with the proper tools.
I don't have one in my hand but I can promise you the bootloader is locked.
Is there a way to unlock the bootloader?
As of right now, no one knows.

Look at the S4, still no bootloader unlock. If you want a GN3 unlocked bootloader your best option is to buy it unlocked.

Just for my clarification, how are people installing a custom recovery and roms on the AT&T S4 if bootloader is locked? Couldn't we do the same on the AT&T N3? Thanks
The bootloader is unlocked on all Canadian versions...... Sorry to the Americans out there.. Lol. I love Canada

Eventually, someone will figure out an exploit. The S4 uses and exploit called Loki. Since the Note 3 was just release it will be a while before anyone figure out an exploit.
I have one in hand but I dont know what tools to use to see if the bootloader is locked. Tell how to check and I will as long as it doesnt brick my device.

Safestrqap is the newest exploit for the s4, but Someone will figure out an exploit for the locked bootlaoder for this Note 3. I am due for an upgrade, I just trying to decide on the Note 3 or S4.
What do you have now? I have htc One and I'm getting Note 3 for a change. I'm going to sell my Nexus 7 tablet too since I'm hoping with Note it won't be needed.

I suggest Note 3 because of the bigger battery, snapdragon 800 and the bigger screen.
With this locked bootloader you can still root the phone right? I don't really care about anything else except for 1. Root, and 2. Adaway. These are the only 2 things I need on my phone. Thanks

[Q] Need and official T-Mobile Rom for AT&T Moto X

I have a friend with an AT&T Moto X. He is selling it and offered me a good deal on it. It is already unlocked (I know I may need to unlock it again if I change roms and such but I assume his code may carry over and I don't mind buying an unlock code if needed). I am very interested in the phone but would prefer to have the official stock T-Mobile rom on the phone. I can install a custom bootloader if necessary, but I cannot find an official T-Mobile rom for the phone. Does anyone know where I could find the official stock T-Mobile rom or know how I can switch it to the T-Mobile rom from the AT&T rom? Thanks
If it's an AT&T Moto x, then you can't bootloader unlock it. If it is SIM unlocked once, then it'll stay that way forever. If it has a locked bootloader, then you can't really install a rom on it.

I thought I should stay unlocked. I had read a few posts from people suggesting it might have to be redone though, so I wasn't sure. So It is stuck with the AT&T rom for good then I presume? The only reason I would have a desire to change the rom would be to take advantage of a perticular T-Mobile app, which I can get on the phone anyways. Would there be any notable problems that anyone knows of with using an unlocked AT&T Moto X on T-mobile?
I am using one right now and it works fine. The only possible issue is if you're in an area that hasn't had a network refarm. In those areas, you can only get 2g instead of 3g. It has the same LTE coverage either way.

My AT&T Moto X is bootloader unlocked. Cost me $40 to get the code. There's quite a few threads being posted about it. I'm using it on T-Mobile right now. Once it is carrier unlocked, it stays that way. Same with the bootloader. I get LTE on T-Mobile.
It's well worth the $40 to unlock the bootloader. You can root, install roms, and pretty much do whatever you want to your phone.
Side note: I don't think there is an official T-Mobile rom since the T-Mobile version is the unlocked GSM version.

Okay? I was answering the OP's inquiry about a stock T-Mobile rom, and like I said, there isn't a T-Mobile rom since it's a gsm unlocked version. I don't know why you quoted me with dev images?

If it is not on 4.4.2 already, you can root it and use a SafeStrap ROM. If it's on 4.4.2 already, you're out of luck. I don't think AT&T has sent out the update already, so it probably doesn't have 4.4.2.

Flash stock firmware via RSD or Mythtools. http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=7
FYI, you can sell with custom ROM, I've picked up 2 AHDs from amazon this yr (I fried one and cracked the screen on another) and both times I ran across phones with custom ROMs.
Yeah, but I heard that the unlocking method only works on stock roms, plus I don't want disgruntled people blaming me for bugs found in Custom Roms.
