Hello Folks,
I have a Droid Bionic Running 98.72.22XT875.Verizon.en.US (The stock JB update rooted)
I FXZ'd this onto the phone, so there are no files from the ICS install.
With SafeStrap 3.11 installed, including recovery I see the option to choose Menu to boot into the recovery, but when I press it the device just boots like normal.
I'm not sure if it is misreading my press, or if the recovery is not bootable.
IS there a new version, or is there a way I can boot into SS without using the button?
Can anyone help me out?
Thank You,
-Dacooter
Why haven't you removed & reinstalled Safestrap yet? Safestrap 3.11 works fine with JB on my phone, and I put JB on my phone with an FXZ.
I have tried re-installing SafeStrap.
I've even tried Differend APK downloads.. no luck.
Hey Folks,
I got this all figured out.
I flashed Via RSD one more time, then rooted without modifying the stock ROM at all. now it is working.
Thanks,
-Dakotah
Same problem as starter
So I'm having the same problem as the person who started this thread. I've tried SafeStrap 3.11 about 5 times and no luck. I've reflashed it using the RSD Lite tool about 5 times flashing it with http : // sbf. droid-developers. org/cdma_targa/list.php and still had no luck (of course i'm using the JB edition named "9.8.2O-72_VZW-22 Blur_Version.98.72.22.XT875.Verizon.en.US" )
Every time I press the Menu button when SafeStrap pops up it boots like normal. I can't seem to get this fixed. I tried CWR twice, made a backup, and both times the OS said "Encryption" was bad and I needed to factory reset. Only fix was using RSD Lite.
Any ideas? Should I try to manually flash recover.img?

Hi,
I have a rooted XT862 - right now with stock rom rooted.
Safestrap v2.1 is installed.
I can boot into safestrape, wipe all data / flash the rom ( CM10 ) but if I select after flashing reboot, I end up in the stock rom, still rooted o0
Even with wiping all data / settings - nothing is deleted ?
Thats a bit strange maybe someone can tell me how to fix it.

Thx
I did and flashed it - worked - but than phone crashed and now stuck at boot logo ( Motorola Dual core whatever... )
Trying now to figure out how to get it back to live again :?
Sometimes even the logo don't show up.
unbrik with m+ power does nothing.
can't get past the logo
Flashed my TPT and Note like 1000 times all worked well easy and never had any trouble but this motorola :/
Might have to SBF, reroot, install Safestrap, boot into Safestrap, create ROM slot, and wipe and install. But first try the power+M key, BP tools, and see if it will get you to Safestrap.

without sim and micro SD I can get in the m + powerbutton menu.
Doesen't I select in the fast boot menu, it simply does nothing and after a few seconds it will end up at the logo again stuck
nvm after severals tries it is now flashing back to stock verizon.
So in a few min. I'll have the OTA 5.6.890 on it.
So whats the way to get in non crashing / briking to the CM10 mod for it?
Hey all,
I've been searching all over for the solution to this problem and I haven't been able to find any sort of solution and all my attempts to google have been in vain. I've been having problems installing any rom from clockworkmod. I have a droid bionic with the system version, 98.72.22.XT875 the android version is 4.1.2. So I was originally trying to get the pacman rom on my phone. I flashed a clean jellybean rom from RSD and then I used bootstrap and rom manager to flash clockworkmod recovery. However every time I tried to install the pacman rom I get an error that says something similar to E: system cant find *blank* file. When I reboot my system after this the phone says that I've lost encryption and it wont allow me to access the phone anymore. So I tried downloading the cryogen mod off of rom manager and I had the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
You cannot use bootstrap with the jellybean firmware on a bionic, you must use safestrap. It is the only currently working recovery.
Clockworkmod doesn't work either (as far as I know.. Is there even a build for the bionic?)
Clean again with an fxz, root, install safestrap app, install recovery through the app, reboot to safestrap, create a ROM slot, install your ROM to that slot, and all should be good.
(The reason your attempts were in vain is because the boot loader is locked, thus some boot-time patching and workarounds must be done)

Safe strap works great. Boot manager is supposed to work also, haven't tried it yet.
I've been modding androids, iphones, and windows phones for years now but I somehow ended up to finally brick a phone.
So I was running stock 4.3 rooted on my N900A and decided to install SafeStrap 3.71 in order to upgrade to Knoxraid. I followed this guide (kind of):
http://galaxynote3root.com/att-galaxy-note-3-roms/knoxraid-kitkat-rom-for-att-galaxy-note-3/
Everything went well and I got SafeStrap but I installed the rom to Rom Slot 1 instead of the Stock Rom slot., I rebooted into the regular download mode. Everything went okay with the install but after flashing the ODIN files I noticed that SafeStrap no longer booted to the recovery menu (of course). Knoxraid installed just fine but after booting into the rom I noticed that it would soft-reboot every 20-30 seconds. I couldn't get into Settings>General>Security. I couldn't load any apps because it rebooted too fast. It was basically useless. I booted into recovery mode to try and reload the rom there. Now I just get a black screen on bootup.
I think my saving grace might be that I took a backup of my phone using SafeStrap before I made any changes. However, how can I apply that backup without SafeStrap?
HELP!!
I've done this before and I'm wondering if I can do it again
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
Okay I've made some progress. After restoring the original MJ5 ODIN files in the above link, SafeStrap came up after the reboot!!!!!! Now I'm doing a restore.in SafeStrap. I should be all set but I'll update in case anyone else has the same issue in the future.
It worked flawlessly after that. I followed the instructions to the letter and now everything is working perfectly!
Hi Guys,
My 900A was running with S5 (Update 4) ROM and Safetrap 3.72 but I decided to try Biggins ROM. I didn't like the interface so I tried another one, RenMar's ROM 1.22.
Wiped my data as usual, loaded the ROM. Successfully updated. Restart the phone and... nothing. I don't see the usual screen from Safestrap but instead, Android recovery with the little android on its back.
It's giving me choice only to apply updates or to wipe data/cache. Odin doesn't work. I can connect to it for about 5~6 seconds by pressing Volume Up at startup but then, it restart and goes back to the little android.
At the top of the screen, I have :
Android system recovery <3e>
KOT49H.N900AUCUCNC2
What I did wrong? Reading the posts, should it be because I tried to "downgrade"? I tried to upload back the S5 (Update 4) ROM. But, of course, it didn't work since you are reading this.
I still have my backup from Safestrap but... can load to Safestrap. Is there a genius who can help me asap. You know what it's like without your phone.
Thanks for any help.
Your on nc2 so that mean your on kit Kat rom n you should install safe trap 3.75 which is for kit Kat rom
FireKat V14 infuse with MegaPower
Knowing that, what should I do to reactivate my phone?

If you had read through the posts in the renmar thread then you would have noticed that there was an issue with the ROM and that many other people ended up in the same boat as you are in now (including me).
You will need to ODIN NC2, then root with towelroot and install safestrap (and busybox I believe). Then you can reboot to safestrap recovery and use your backup.
Here is the link to get to ODIN NC2.
Happy flashing.
Thanks A LOT SAPPS to get me back on track. Those files made the trick. Really appreciated.
I was trying to upgrade safestrap from 3.73 to 3.75 so that I could install CM12. I did not remove 3.73 before installing 3.75, causing major boot problems. I was able to boot into Fastboot, and using the DROID 4 Utility XT894 Jellybean, I flashed the official jellybean firmware. Now my phone will get as far as the Droid Eye logo boot animation, but will not finish the boot. Are there any other utilities or methods that I can try to get the phone back up and running? I have access to another Droid 4, so if there's a way to copy the ROM from it to mine with adb, or some other method, I'd be open to that. Any help would be appreciated.
No idea about that utility. Without Safestrap or a working O/S, ADB is only available from stock recovery (I think), and stock recovery is almost completely useless on this phone.
If you still had access to SS, then you could restore a backup made on another phone, but in stock form the phone has no way to make/restore system backups.
At a guess, the DROID 4 Utility flashes one of the two newest XMLs depending on whether you want to keep data or not. If you chose 2, it could be that the boot process is getting hung up on something you have installed. Since you're using stock, did you try safe mode?
Failing that, or if you already chose a complete wipe in the Droid 4 Utility and got stuck anyway...for each of the several times I've managed to brick my phone, I've always used RSDLite and manually flashed the appropriate XML via Fastboot, have never had any problems.
RSDLite: http://rsdlite.com/rsd-lite-download/
Newest stock JB 4.1.2 XML (VRZ_XT894_9.8.2O-72_VZW-18-8_CFC.xml.zip): via Mega (probably fastest, in Firmwares), Motofirmware or AFH, links courtesy of @sd_shadow's big document of Droid 4 stuff
Note that the above XML will wipe data and internal storage (SD card is unaffected). If you need to keep those, use cdma_maserati_9.8.2O-72_VZW-18-2_1ff.xml.zip instead (also in the Mega Firmwares folder, or get other links from the above document), it should keep everything. Probably. I hope you made a backup before trying to upgrade SS : \
Connect your phone via USB, get into Fastboot
Start up RSDLite
Click the "..." next to the Filename box, select the XML zip
Click "Decompress And Start Flashing"
Give it a while to complete
Hopefully, bootable ROM. Note that RSDLite will probably get "stuck" on the last reboot, waiting for the phone; it's safe to close once the flash is completely complete (e.g. you're at the boot animation)
I'd imagine that the Droid 4 Utility does much the same as RSDLite, just in a somewhat more automated fashion, but it never hurts to try something slightly different.
RSD Lite is more complex than the utility, slightly different methods, if one failed try the other.
Stock recovery is really only good for factory reset and wiping cache, if you haven't already done so, wipe them now.

I was able to get it up and running with the Mfastboot method:
