[Q] Home Button Doesn't Go Home - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Whenever I click my home button, it'll take me to my app drawer if I left it open. Otherwise, it takes me home. Any way to get around that without a ROM? Is this even the default behavior?
Also, the back button doesn't close the app drawer, only the home button does. Once again, is this normal?
Thanks!

Its normal. I'm not sure but one of the ROMs changes this behavior I believe. Read through the features.

This has to do with the launcher
On custom launchers like nova, it let's you choose what action the home button performs

Froyo screenshot does not work on xda app

So we know that you can do a native screenshot on froyo holding down back and then pressing home. Some apps work but not all apps do. For example this xda app if I were to hold down back, it would just pop back out to the main page and when I push the home button it would just go out to the home screen. Is that xda app or is that froyo?
I know that we can use external apps to get screen shots but I was just wondering if hold back and home not working on some apps is because those apps hasn't not been updated or is it just froyo?i guess the other thing could be my spaz fingers?

[Q] ADW launcher home button behaviour?

well this is really interesting (to me )
I'm using CM nightly, so it comes with ADW launcher
When I slide the home button (when in drawer) or drawer button (when at home screen) upward, the dock disappears, and even restarting ADW launcher doesn't help to bring it back...
Could someone please suggest how to bring the dock back again?
And also I'd like to know, what advantage does that function do..
thanks a lot
Go to where the app button is supposed to be and swipe down. I had the same problem.
Wow that works
Thanks a lot

This is a secondary application dock that you are seeing. Only there are no apps there so it just looks blank. Slide up on the home icon and the quick launch dock/panel appears, you can then drag an app icon to that area and it will stick to the quick launch dock. This is a good spot to keep a calculator, quickboot, titanium back-up; whatever you want.

Home button

Hi, this is my first post, i've been following some of your tutorials and everything as been running smoothly, but now mto home button goes back to the first screen instead ir opening the menu that allowed me to open tudo launcher pro apps, mto question is how can i restore the previous function. Thanks in advance.

What is tudo?
So you're saying you want the home button to open the app drawer instead of taking you to the first home page in launcher pro ?
No, i want it to allow me to select the home i want to use, either launcher pro, or panda home, or normal home, instead of going back to first screen, this appened after i uninstalled ahome i think.

Settings > Applications > {find your current default home} - there should be a button saying clear defaults. It will then prompt you next time you hit home.
Why would you want that though, unless if you are using multple launchers at the same time, which is a little odd.

[SOLVED] Accessing the CM9 taskmanager through shortcut??

To close my recent apps I have a widget of"android assistant" which closes all the apps at one touch.
And to view the open apps through the default task manager in CM9 I have to press and hold the home button for a few seconds. I was wondering is there any way to access this task manager through a one tap on the scren .considering the times I have to press the home button.. it might get spoilt or loose over time.
Have you guys got any tips to do this?? I also tried "simple text " app but there is no action as to access the task manager.
I did take a look at "tasker" and it had a way to kill all apps or selective apps. I think that could be helpful in a way ..

Don't know of anyway to do that, it's very possible though to make such a shortcut in my opinion.
However the button is of high quality and you don't have to worry about it.
Or you could always flash the on screen keys mod and use that instead.
Cheers.

I think that the on screen keys are a bit waste of space. I have used some iphones in my past, and the main button often got loose (shakey)

Install Nova Launcher from market and Configure the home button in Settings.
Now Just press home button one time and its done
Or apex launcher, you can reconfigure the home button for a 1 press & the task mngr should show in now time, or put an action icon on home screen.

I would prefer using the action shortcut. Will i be able to do that with Apex launcher.
Thanks for the launcher ideas, if i can't get a shortcut made, ill reconfigure the home button to open the task manager on one tap, but then won't it conflict with the actual 1tap idea of the home button? :S to get to the homescreen?

If you are rooted the back button long hold menu
Is long-pressing home very much preferable to the default way of doing this (double-tapping home)?

I my self would definitely prefer a long press rather than having to double tap. Sometimes I miss the second two and just go home but would have no problems with a long press.

Any solution to this? I'd like to make long-press home as the multi-tasking view and disable double-press home entirely (don't care about google now).
On the new 4.2.2 long press is now the menu button, double tap home is the recent apps like before and press, hold, and swipe up is the Google now

Yea I just saw this when I flashed to a 4.2.2 ROM. The thing I want to disable is the double-tap home button as it makes the single-press home a bit laggy since it has to wait to see if the second button press of home is registered or not. I would rather the phone just instantly goes home when I press home which requires the double-tap home function to be disabled which is why I'd like to rebind the task-switcher to something else like long-press home.

It doesn't make it laggy, as it doesn't wait for the second tap. You can still do the second tap once it gets to the homescreen. If you think it's slow, you should see the Samsung Galaxy phones with their REAL homebutton lag

It does... this is exactly what I'm relating it to. On my S3 it had double-press home to go to the S-Voice app. Once I disabled that feature, the home button would be instant on the S3. Otherwise, it would be "waiting" for the 2nd press. It's the same thing with the HTC One... at least it feels like it.
And no, I can't still do the 2nd tap when I get to the home screen...

I can some people store more electrical charge in their fingers, guess you are lacking that 'zap'
In all seriousness, I don't have any lag and you can disable the double tap by editing the framework.jar

Lol... well I feel the vibration feedback of the 2nd tap but it just acts as me pressing the home screen again, not part of the 2nd press from the 1st. I've tried timing it very closely but I still can't get it to go home and then bring up the task switcher. I can just get it to go home, then go home again, or get the task switcher.
Disabling it is only half the battle... I still want to bind the task-switcher to long press but I lack the know-how to do it lol. Thought there would be something built into modaco's framework to do it but I don't see that level of button customization there yet.

Well you have to do it by placing your finger in the HTC logo on the bottom, and slide it up on the screen. Did you do that correctly perhaps?
