[Q] My gt p1000 died, why ? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello,
the last time I used my gt p1000, it was flashed with an overcome rom, and it worked fine.
But I didn't use much my galaxy tab , so I've forgot it for a long time.
Once, I wanted to use it again, to read some book on my bed, but the battery was empty.
I tried to charge it, and I pressed the power button because I wanted to see at least some indicator.
I saw a small progress bar, but immediately after it was shutdown .... forever.:crying:
I tried to charge it for a long time but it changed nothing.
Unresponsive to any "hard reset".
I went to a kind of "popular market", and asked a guy to see if there was a problem with my battery.
The guy said me that there was no problem with my battery, and that I should reflash my tablet.
So he sent me to another guy who explained me that my galaxy tab cannot be flashed, if it doesn't boot.
So basically my galaxy tab is "hard bricked".
So I'm not sure what I've made wrong.
If I buy an other tablet, should I avoid custom roms ?
Is there some tablets that resist more than other to bricking ?
It's a bit frustrating , that my galaxy tab got a short life, I want a tablet for at least 3 year !

Hmm, seems the tablet is rest for awhile, just connect the charger and let it charge for 3 hours , and then slowly HOLD VOLUME UP button and POWER button for 5 secs .. Let it access to factory setting mode, but do not use factory setting .. Just choose REBOOT ....Try it

I tried this before. At least how I would avoid bricking of my next tablet ?
Perhaps I shouldn't have buy my tablet in "black market", or used a custom rom.
Or perhaps it's a virus, too many hypothesis.

Help Me!!! Black Window in Galaxy Tab P7510

i´ve got my brand new galaxy tab P7510 and after two day and swiching it down, black screen appears. Cant get it to start and i tried to charge it and wait for several hour but nothing happens. When i connect it to the pc it ask me for atx drivers wich ive already installed, but now i dont know what to do.
First i know i have to wait for samfirware to release the firmware for my tab i suppose and then flash it win odin i guess.
Is this the correct way or should i send it inmeately to samsung´s support service.
The main problem for me is that i live abroad and it would be very difficult to send it to usa.
thank you.

Have u tried recovery mode? On the 7" you press and hold in vol-up while pressing and holding in power, release the buttons when you se Samsung logo...but maybe you don't se that at all? But if you can enter recovery try a factory reset, it will be wiped.
Are you sure its off? maybe it has hanged and stopped responding to input. Try to hold in power button several secounds to force power off.
btw you should post questions in q&a...

why do people keep on posting at the wrong thread? we need moderators intervention here.
all of these done, no signal from the table, with power + volume nothing at all, and holding power does nothing, no logo appears, always blackscreened. Sorry to post in this forum but as i saw how to unbrick tutorial here i though it was the correct place. Beg administrator to move to correct one
thank you

If you have provided this info in the first post i wouldn't have bother to suggest things that you already have tried.
I guess there is no battery animation when you put the changer in?
If so i believe you have a genuine brick.
But it is a bit strange your pc reacts when you plug it in tho...
Did all this happen without you flashing anything thru odin or cwm?
You just turned it off and then i won't start anymore?
One thing i would try is to remove the battery and put it in again, but will for sure void any warranty.
Read this "coma brick" did you charge with ac for several hours?

Never tried to do anything with the tab. Just load apk and nothing more. I charged it for several hours with two different charges and Pluged into Pc. Nothing works. I suppose it is really broken but what its strange is that Pc recognizes it
i think the nearest Samsung service Center will solve this for you . i advice you to check with them
note : they will think that you flashed something , even though you didn't . but its ok if you still under the warranty , maybe it takes 3 weeks to 4 though
if you hold vol down and power, can you get into download mode? it's an android dude with a shovel. if you can do that, then search the forums for your specific hardware files, and use heimdall or odin to flash them.
No way it doesnt start anything only black window. No logo no shovel nothing at all. Tried all the combinations and the only thing I can do is connect it to the Pc and it ask me for apx drivers which I've already installed but nothing to do with it. Also the firmware at samfirmware won't be available till next week, then I'll try to reflash if it is possible. About the service here in Spain they don't want even touch it, told me to send it to USA cos they say they can't get usa firmware and they only take care of product bought in Spain it stinks. And I offered the guy to pay for it even out of warranty but they don't want to mess with it. There's another guy in other forum that has the same problem with same tab. But still find no solution. I should have bought a ****... iPad at least if it crashes can be recovered easily. If this is a software problem I would have to send it there several times which is very expensive
How long have you held the power button? I had a similar issue this morning on my p1010 and I just held the.power button for maybe a minute and it restarted. It takes a long time when holding the button.
I'm new to the tab so don't shoot me if this is something you already tried.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574
Can anyone one expert tell me if the solution on this post will work for me
I think you have a dead screen or lcd inverter, or dead back light. Definetely a warranty issue.
Take the tab out in bright sun and try the power buttons - maybe you can see the screen change?
Same Thing
I had the same thing happen.
No combination of buttons seems to bring life to the tablet. i'm going to download the driver now and see if I can get into adb to try to reset it.
I was watching a video, the video got really fuzzy, then the tablet froze up. I held down power to power it down and that is the last time it was on. Never flashed or rooted.

[Q] Soft bricked P1000?

I've had a hunt around the forum and the net in general to look for solutions, but haven't come across the same issue.
The tab was running Overcome 4.10 just fine, but I decided I'd wipe everything in CWM and go for some ICS action instead. I used every wipe option.
In retrospect, I should have RTFM, but I used every wipe option in CWM.
After I did this I rebooted the tab and it went back to CWM. I decided I didn't want to do anything there and then, so I turned the tab off and came back to it later.
Hit the power button - no joy. Plugged in my charger cable and after a few seconds it came to life showing the battery charging screen, but it did not change from the first few seconds where there is a spinning/loading icon over the battery. I've left it plugged in for well over 4 hours in total now and still no joy - the battery screen comes on and goes off of it's own accord.
Now, I'm hoping I just have a dodgy charger cable and I'm going to resolder it just now while I wait for responses.
Any suggestions if that doesn't sort it out?
EDIT -
I've resoldered the cable and it's made no difference.
Also, a bit obvious, but I didn't mention that it will not go into download or recovery mode. The turning it on whilst touching the screen trick doesn't do anything either.
EDIT 2 -
I opened the tab up, disconnected the battery for a few minutes and reconnected. No difference.
adb, Kies and one-click unbrick don't see the tab. Win7 has seen the 2 sd card directories, but couldn't mount/access them. This isn't consistent, though.
Any ideas? I don't know what else I can do

I think I'll practice my soldering and try AdamOutler's UnbrickableMod.
I'm curious what exactly bricked it :-/ Wiping the battery stats with no ROM in place?
Oh well

Hmmm... this looks more like you messed up CWM. Normally, if one chooses to shut down his phone while in CWM, after reboot it gets back into CWM on auto. Try getting into CWM or download-mode by holding the buttons untill you see something happening on the screen.
If that fails, I guess you have a new goodlooking paperweight...
Any idea how CWM might have been messed up? No battery stats maybe confusing things? I find it strange that it did reboot into CWM after I wiped that stuff and then after being powered off it did not turn back on.
A mystery, but you're right - it is a very pretty paperweight

[Q] Streak 7 keeps powering off and rebooting (even at full charge and after reset)

Hello
I've got a used Streak 7 with the official Dell Honeycomb update. I made a master reset while driving home, then connected it to my WIFI network and worked very well! until it suddenly rebooted while browsing the web. After turning it on again and using the youtube app, the same thing happened even at full charge with the cable still plugged. Annoyed as hell, did another master reset... seemed to work well but after an hour it rebooted again... and does it every 10 minutes or so.
I am pretty sure it is software related because seconds before each reboot, the screen goes black and I am able to read: "Android System" with a weird icon on the top left corner... then It displays the Power Off/Shutting Down dialog (like when you power it off the right way pressing the power button) but then instead of pwering off it reboots itself.
I have noticed that if I leave it alone without opening any applications, it stays on. So far I have done 6 master resets and the issue is still there.
Any help please!!?
anyone?
I'm no expert on this but it seems about all you can do is to NVflash some other ROM since that will wipe your internal memory and repartition it. Then go back to HC again. If you have anything important on your device, back it up somehow as all data will be erased. There are lots of Guides and How To's here, some are good but some aren't! You'll have to read, read and reread till you go blind.

Though you are running Dell's official rom, I'm not sure which rom it is. Anyway, I suggest you follow the instructions here and update it to the newest 514 rom. This will wipe your ds7 and give you a clean start.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's a known bug that hasn't been been able to be repaired and/or addressed. The only version that didn't have this problem was the stock Froyo and DJSteve's custom Froyo builds.
The Honeycomb builds, even the stock ones on my Streak did the same thing, and once in a while the ICS beta I'm currently using will randomly reboot if I'm using the browser.
NOW if I remember correctly, DJ Steve's Honeycomb builds R2 through R6 weren't plagued with this that I can remember. I used them all and don't recall random reboots of any kind.
Hope this helps. I know it's frustrating and I used to pull my hair out thinking it was something I installed. It may be my Streak, but down here in Costa Rica there are a group of about 20 of us that have one and I service them all and they were all plagued with the random reboots in the Honeycomb builds

I am running stock 514 rom and found it to be less prone to the reboot. Before this update my ds7 would reboot at least 2-3 times a week. Now it would be 2-3 times a month. I noticed that some apps do trigger the reboot, specially poor written apps and non-honeycomb apps. So don't go installling every apps under the sun.
But back to the OP problem, you seem to have an excessive amount of reboot. I would update to the 514 rom first because it is simple and easily done before you nvflash to other roms.
After upgrading to 514, I cant say I've ever gotten a reboot on it since it came out.
Had a fair amount of them on 506 though.
Cant speak for HS as I dont use them.

I wish I had your luck... On all HC roms... Stock or Steven's I had reboots so bad that my 7 was almost unusable... Not much without root but after root it got real bad... I even quit using it for a while... But mine is the 4G version so that may have had something to do with the instability
SGS II I9100 from TapaTalk
ok, this sucks
thanks... I have been playing with it for more than a week and I've discovered that if I tap on the back of it lightly, it immediately reboots!
The reboot also occurs if I hold it horizontally twisting it a bit (being gentle of course).
So, even if it seems like a software issue (because it reboots instead of suddenly loosing power completely)... it is actually a hardware issue.
I've been reading a lot regarding this problem and learned this also happens on the Dell Streak 5. Some users say that when Android detects an unstable voltage it auto reboots... and the problem with those ds5 is the battery not sitting completely still and it can be solved just by putting a piece of paper under the battery, great for them with a detachable battery! but not for us with a sealed system.
Do any of you have a service manual? I am willing to take it apart to try to solve this problem. My streak is unusable.

Oh wow this sucks... I mean cool guide but it is so extremely difficult to take it apart without damaging it! It is basically being held together with glue :S

[Q] Hard briked S3 mini out of nowhere

I have the feeling I'm going to get repetitive here guys, but I've been reading the troubleshooting threads for over an hour and couldn't find an answer to help me.
Last saturday I was to lazy to move from the couch, so I watched as my S3 Mini ran out of battery. I got the "phone is turning off" screen as usual. Later I went to bed, but as I needed my alarm to go off in the morning I tried turning it on again, and nothing* happened. Plugged it on the wall, nothing*. Replaced the battery, nothing*. Gave it a good half hour plugged, and as you can guess, nothing*.
* when I say nothing, I mean it won't light up, won't vibrate, won't wink for me, won't load any kind of error, it's actually just like if you were trying to turn on a phone without any battery connected, no grasp of life comes from its poor soul.
The only moment I could see some action on the device is when I tried connecting it on the PC a few hours ago, as it installed drivers to Windows. Right after installing the drivers however, it won't show in the file explorer. I've tried to detect it with a few development tools such as ORT and Odin and there was no sucess either. Download or Recover mode will not work as well.
One thing I think worth mentioning, is that ever since I rooted it a couple of years ago, whenever I tried to recharge it while it was off, the standard "green charging battery" would never appear. What would appear on the screen was a freezed loading icon (the one that keeps roling again and again, but frozen). This particular issue never came off, even reseting it or installing new ROMs.
I always used Maclaw's, some of the latest 4.x, because I tought the 5.x was to heavy for the s3 minis.
I've read some about USB JIGs and stuff, but what makes me very curious is what the heck?! The phone was working just fine, the battery runs out and I have a brick? Is this possible? Can anyone tell me any work around?
I apologize for possible grammar mistakes.

try to plug in the phone into charger & leave it there like 20 mins or more. battery loads then.
then try access samsung download mode, if you cant the phone is probably useless (brick for ever) because itslike mthe last standing thing.
& sorry i say that but thats typically samsung behaviuor. there allways this kind of threads in the samsung forums of xda... other manufacturer can mostly be restored or atleast you know what make it dead.
Exactly the same problems happening to me.

Hi there,
Thank you for your interest but I have passed this point already. Tried a brand new battery I had laying down in the drawer (which was fully charged with an universal charger) and there is no answer to any attempt of turning it on. Via recovery, download or normal boot.

Hello there,
I'm sorry to hear I'm not the only one affected by this bug (lets call it a bug). This shows there is a lack of concern from Samsung on dealing with this issues, and thus we see that old programmed obsolescence.
I will try that later on the weekend, and I come back here with an report.
Cheers

this guide useless for you. how u want flash things with odin if u cant enter download mode at all??
im really sorry for you that this phone is dead. just can give you 1 advice, dont buy samsung in future.
I have been repaired my phone successfully!!!
I just needed to change two capacitors on its motherboard, and that's it.
Here the video where I have found the info and how to do that. It's in Spanish but easy to understand for you I think. But if you need some help, send me a PM.
can you take a picture from the location of the 2 capasitors and the types of it
Hi everyone.
I have some news. It took me a while but I followed CrashOverride93's advice on that video. It actually solved one issue, as I now can turn it on, but now I have a second problem, I'm stuck on a boot loop, with acess to Download mode ONLY. No recovery.
Considering where my issue started, and where I am now, I have tried the following:
- Flashed via Odin stock ROM, kernel;
- flashed Wipe;
- flashed PARAM;
- three button combo.
So far I couldn't get it pass the boot loop. Any thoughts?

Samsung Galaxy A71 died after updating to Android 11

Ok, so here is to explain what happened, so you can have a clue what am I talking about.
I bought Galaxy A71 a month ago (give or take), so out of the box it had Android 10. The phone was working flawlessly. Battery life awesome, pictures from camera great, etc. So, few days ago on March 26, 2021, an update to Android 11 came in. I am a tech nerd, I know about phones, rooting, flashing, etc.
So, I saw that I have around 78-80% of the battery so it was enough to download and install Android 11.
Downloading and installing and optimizing apps after went smooth as silk. I usually soft restarting my device after any software update, so I did that after the installation of Android 11 was entirely finished.
But, this is what happen when I restart my phone the normal way. I press and hold the power button, the dialog of Power off, Reset and Airplane mode came out, tapped twice the reset button and phone went restarting and just.... died. I remember that when I soft restarted my phone, the battery was on 72%. So I tried any trick in the books to turn on my phone again like combinations of pressing buttons, then with USB cable, charger, etc, but nothing was responsive. It's like the phone was clinically dead.
My phone is still under warranty and I will probably end up taking it to the T-mobile store, but the point of this thread is to inform others of the situation like mine and see if someone else had the same problem?
Maybe someone will post a solution what to do in situations like this?
If I find any solution, I will update this post with all the details.
You probably done it.But have you plugged it into A computer to see if the computer can detected it?

Yes i did, nothing shows in Device Manager. As I said, I tried every possible trick to wake the phone up, but it was unsuccessful.
I end up taking it to the carrier store cuz it is still under warranty. They told me if they can't fix it, they'll probably give me a new one or to wait for Galaxy A72 To arrive in 2 weeks. We'll see what happens.

Least you still have A warranty to help you.
Good luck with it.Hope you don't lose your data if it's still on the phone.

They fix it, it said it was software problem, got stuck on rebooting. I get it today (2 weeks later) and it worked. They managed to turn it on but without a factory reset, every app was there, every picture, video, contacts, call history, etc. I don't know how they did it, but they did. So when I got my phone back I tried to restart it normal way, long press of the power button, then tap Restart and again restart. The phone restart it without a problem. I was happy. Then later that day (2 hours ago when I'm writing this, I notice that always on display when i touch the phone screen will show up but doesn't switch off after 10 seconds (I set it up like that), instead it started to blink in intervals like i was touching the screen continuously. Then I did a deep soft reset. You know, when you press Volume down and Power button at the same time and.... got the same problem again. Phone is non functional, none combination of pressing buttons worked, just like i describe it in the OP. Just for information, I did the same on my previous phone Galaxy A7 2018 and never had this problem. I did it on this phone too, never had a problem. Then I remember it that on both phones when i do that and not having problems were running on Android 10. this phone now update it to Android 11 and that buttons combination is probably bricking the phone. It's just a thing I notice. So I am planning to call the official service that fixed the phone how did they do it, so maybe I can do it myself too. I don't want to wait for another 2 and a half weeks.
I am facing the same issue. And I think my warranty is out. Did you get to ask them how can you turn it on yourself!!
I would really appreciate some help here!
