Bricked p990HN

Hey everyone I bricked my brand new optimus 2x I got from fido because I thought it would use the same themes as the p990 on this forum. Is there any way I can recover this?
Bricked ??? With just a theme ???? I think the sentence "bricked" is just too strong !!!!
Whatever... Which ROM do you use ? Just reflash it, and averything should be okay.
Don't you have a cwm backup ???
it's still on the stock rom, I just need someone to give me a stock rom file I believe to reflash. I don't have a backup....
You'll find original O2X firmwares here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
And... May I ask why you don't want to install some custom ROM ? (just curiosity)
O I just didn't feel comfortable doing anything major to my phone yet so I wanted to try a basic theme for now.
I don't see a p990hn there yet so I guess I have to wait till the stock rom gets released?
Well...
If u'r about to flash an original firmware, it's already an high level action.
Moreover, if your phone is actually unusable, you'd better flash a firmware, even if this one is older than your's.
I must confess I switched to custom ROM as soon as I received my O2X, so I'm not confident with original firmwares.
You'll find many tutorials all around the net, or even here (also have a look at modaco's forum).
If I can give you an advice, switch to an alternate rom. Tutorials are clear, and they brings so much power.
As an example, I'm actually running Cyanogenmod, latest nightly build.
Android version is 2.3.5 which the latest one available. You won't find it on officials firmwares.
You can't theme a stock ROM, that's where you went wrong.
ahh that makes sense, I got a replacement phone from fido today since it's only been a day.
I think I'm going to wait until people confirm that the p990HN is the same as the normal p990 before I do anything else.

I've a tutorial to repair a brick p990 and i think that work for p990hn, but it's in italian. Try to translate it with google translate or something like that.. i can't translate it 'cause i'm going to work. Search with google "brick lg dual come riportarlo in vita"
Remember that the tutorial is made for italian firmware, so u must search a firmware for your country.
I hope it helps, tell me if it works.
I have the O2X from Fido. I flashed FR19 and I haven't had any issues.
yea you cannot brick a phone just with a theme! .. install a custom rom like cyanogen or you can download the stock rom too from somewhere in the net!
P990HN and P990 are one and the same.
I have a P990HN from Fido and have been running custom GB roms for months now.

[Q] Galaxy S+ I9001 Problem

Hi Guys
I am hoping that someone might be able to help me.
I have a Galaxy S+ that just randomly reboots. It is running 2.3.3 i believe (Friend is using the phone atm)
I got the phone on contract and actually went through 5 phones (and entire stores stock) only to find that all of them have this issue.
No i believe that its a software problem and not hardware as Samsung themselves have said nothing about it and the Samsung Specialist @ Vodacom (my cellular provide) has said that there isn't anything that they have heard or that they know of.
I have already rooted the phone, obviously the problem was happening before the rooting of it.
So my question is that does anyone think if i updated the rom to 2.3.6 or whatever else is available it might fix the problem?
I would prefer to keep the rom stock but will go with idea's that anyone would have.
Secondly where would i be able to get updated stock Samsung i9001 roms?
O really wanna give me gf this phone at the end of the month so please if someone could help me i would appreciate it!
Many thanks in advance

i'm not sure about the rebooting problem, but 2.3.3 had other problems in my country, u couldn't send an sms if u had 3G ON , so t-mobile updated all the devices to 2.3.5 , it might be a sign that 2.3.3 has some bugs. my opinion would be to flash one of the stock roms out there , or check if u have an update through kies (although i don't recommend updating with kies as there's a big chance it will freeze during instalation - ya , another crappy samsung software).
Thanks mate i think i will def but i am looking for a uk stock rom?
All i can find is german and polish and balkin.

it depends on what u're looking for, i personally prefer stock with a few tweaks here and there. u can check the custom roms available in our dev section, it's not a big choice ,but u can see if any of them suit ur needs.
sudden restart
i am new around here,i got a i9001 and it sudden restarts on every rom i installed, costom or stock. first i taught that it restarts because of its ram, like the memory dump on pc, but then i saw, that i rebooted it and after 10-15 min it sudden restarted. i've been to my carrier for warranty, and what they did it was only a flash of rom version 2.3.6 and they gave it back to me. after about 2 hours since i got it back, it did the sudden restart again. srry for my english.

i have tryed all the brood roms, non oc version. at warranty they told me they know that i9001 has problems, but not the one described by me. which rom resolved your problem? now i got the kq1
I tried xxkpu and xxkq1, no problem so far.
If your phone is under warranty, ask for replacing new one.

they said when the phone came back "the phone did not present the problem sent for" on the warranty paper. They know about this problem, but they dont wanna lose money with extra costs for i9001 owners, it was a mistake made by samsung on this model and they dont want to assume it. I read more about this snapdragon oc processor used on i9001 (1.4 Ghz) and it says that it overheats sometimes rarely in first months, but after some heavily daily use it enters a restart loop ( probably after your warranty expires) and the phone becomes useless. sorry to say that for i9001 owners.
"Recently, a growing number of smartphone users experience temperature-related CPU failures that seem to be inherent in Snapdragon-powered devices, and typically manifest only after several months of smartphone use. Symptoms of this hardware failure are unexpected reboots of the phone, especially in higher ambient temperatures and under high CPU load and/or Wifi use. The phone may then enter a "reboot-cycle", which can only be stopped by removing the battery and cooling the phone. Over the period of several weeks or months, this behavior becomes increasingly frequent and occurs at progressively lower ambient temperatures and CPU loads, until it reaches a point where the phone can only be used in refrigerated and/or air-conditioned environments. It is speculated that deteriorating solder bonds of the BGA matrix (i.e., a lost connection between the Snapdragon-CPU and its motherboard) due to thermal stresses occurring in normal operation is the underlying problem for these failures, and CPU re-heating procedures have been proposed to remedy this problem, but so far with mixed results.[23] These hardware issues have not yet been officially acknowledged by companies that use the Snapdragon processor in their smartphones, even though a very large number of devices (HD2, Desire, Evo, Droid Incredible, Xperia, Galaxy S, etc.) seem to be affected. "
this thing is copied from a romanian site, which was meant to be a review for the snapdragon processors.
Sorry for beeing that silly, but did you resetted your phone?
sure I did, like i said, i tryed everything possible, formattin' partions, hard reset, wipe dalvik cache..

[Q] SoD in Stock ROMs

Hey guys, as the title already says, I wanna find out, who has already been faced, with an SoD on the stock ROM.
I already read about some, but I dont exactly remember where they all where, so pls either help me out finding, or post yourself, if you experianced any.
This is to help Huexxx, cause maybe we can find a stock ROM without, since it seems, that some versions are less buggy, then others, but I dont yet know, which one is the least buggy.
And also post pls, if the phone has been rooted, or completely stock.
Thanks already guys

help neeeded!!! reception prob after updating to gingerbread

I have got a problem here.
I own a lg p990 and i live in India.
It was basically a froyo (android 2.2) phone but i recently updated it to gingerbread (android 2.3.4)
My phone's baseband version changed to 1035.21_20110725 and from then on i am experiencing a random network loss which is never recovered until reboot.
Sometimes, even reboot fails to bring back network and i am left with no network coverage for many hours or even days.
Any help will be appreciated.
Hi, Try to change the ril with getril (on market) try v20l. You have to root your phone to use this.
ps : you are not in good topic to post that. Here is Custom rom, dev etc.. be careful next time
You are not alone in this, this is a known issue.
I switched to CM7.2 RC0 because of this. It does not seem to be baseband related (since I use the same baseband on CM7.2), but I have had this issue in all stock firmwares v20l and higher, and also in Stock-based firmwares (Modaco Custrom Rom, Gueste etc.).
It seems to be some combination with the network and the rom or something. I have given up trying to figure this one out.
i also have the connection problem in all roms with every bb and ril... but this is pretty new, i did not have this pro lem a month ago. i will return this device for warranty repair.

Okay, that's something else then. I don't have this problem with every rom, so it is software related.
See my other two topics for more info on this software problem:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/348271-stock-20l-3g-disconnects-and-huge-battery-drain/
http://android.modaco.com/topic/351019-radio-crashing-on-gr6/
If you can, start with downloading GetRIL from the Play Store and downloading the suggested RIL. That worked fine for me, my BB was also changed to 0725.
If that doesn't work, than you should probably start trying different BB and flashing the approriate RILs for them. However, I would suggest that between BB flashing you let time for the BB to "sink in" and do a couple of reboots.
Hi.
This is wrong tread, you should post it in the right tread, this is for development
i also didnt experience this problem before... my phone gave an excellent reception quality... But after updating it to gingerbread, this happens so soon... even now i am on a constant network loss since two days... and sorry for posting it on the wrong thread...

So, have you tried downloading GetRIL from the store and flashing a matching RIL (after rooting your phone)?

Invert screen after cross-flashing stock rom

Hi guys, this is for a friend of mine, he doesn't have enough posts to create a thread.
So here it is. He cross-flashed T stock rom on his TX and now his phone has invert screen. Even though he went back to stock using flashtool, or even tried to flash a custom kernel (V!sk) the problem still persists.
If any of you had this problem before or know how to fix it please help him.
Thanks for reading.
