Have songs in dropbox, but when I download them only some of them show up in my music player... Why???

As long as they're in a compatible format, my initial thought would be they still need to be indexed. Try using the app Rescan Media and also try rebooting your phone after you've downloaded what you want.

I have installed cm10 and an enjoying using Google now. My problem is that I use n7 music player as my music app, and"listen to..." commands only throw up executing them with Tune in radio or last fm. How do I get it to allow me to control my music player?

Playing music files according to folder location is one way to avoid playing sounds you don't want to hear. It will only play music files inside the selected folder/s.
I use MIUI player from one of the ROMS on our I9001 section. It filters them away by first start and use..
Could just replace your system tones ie.. sms and ringtones to .ogg files using Format factory application HERE
And put them in system/media and which ever folder you wish ringtones etc.. and reboot phone
thats what i did and now music player doesnt play my tones

What cheesy said. Look in your players settings and make sure Lyrics is checked..Then once you are playing a song, tap the little music note thingy in the top corner and it will bring up a Windows Media type screen with background animations AND the lyrics to your songs. I also have my WiFi only UNchecked so it will find the lyrics to anything I add on the fly

No need to mods, just install tunnel bear. I set to UK server then open and connect it. Then open your music and let it update to grace note server.
Note:
After atleast one of your music liyrics comes out, you can dissconnect your tunnel bear from server, its only need once to connect. Then you dont need it anymore.
Here is the link

It doesn't upload anything from your phone. If your podcast is downloaded in a format that's playable using Play Music then it'll put it in the music library.

Is their a way to prevent that from happening?
Not a good way. Adding a (dot) nomedia file (autocorrect won't type the period with the word) to the folder you don't want scanned as media. This would mean you have to open the files through a file manager rather than an audio player.
Summary - create an empty file called (dot) nomedia in the folder you wish apps to ignore. The dot is a period and no spaces
