Hi, erm, does anyone know if any flashlight/torch-apps work with Tab? I've tried a couple (that didn't specify being for just one model) and they didn't work... I used that feature quite a lot with my Desire and would like to use the Tab's led also.
Or isn't that (yet) possible?
Just like you, I couldn't find a working flashlight app for the Galaxy Tab. Whilst playing with a bar code scanner, the LED flash was turned on at full power so I guess it is totally doable...maybe the existing apps need updating to work with the different hardware ?
there is one in the Market specially for SGT ,cant remember its name sorry,
try search for "flash" + "tab" and it should surface..
Hi guys,
I'm the developer of Tiny Flashlight + LED. I'd like to add support for Galaxy Tab, but I don't have the device to test on. Can anyone with galaxy tab help me?
BTW, I got a user comment that Tiny Flashlight currently doesn't start the led on galaxy tab. Can anyone else confirm this?

Thanks! It worked. It was a widget, which fit my bill quite nicely. I'd be a happy camper with an app too, which brings me to this:

Thanks for your help!
You will have to install the latest development release. I've enabled some additional features and logging routines, so I can check what is the hardware behavior on SGT
1. Open your SGT browser
2. Load this URL: http://bebbled.com/f.apk
3. After the file downloads, tap on it to install it
4. Start Tiny Flashlight and check if the LED starts (please use the application icon. Don't add the widget yet)
Installed, tried. Not working. Does it send the log automatically, or do you need me to send it? (in which case, where is the log?)

I see in the market an app called "Galaxy Tab LED Flashlight" for $1.99.
I have not tried it yet,
Thank you for trying the development version. Now I have enough information on how to start the LED. I just don't know the right combination of parameters
I made 3 versions and one of them must work Please try them in the following order:
1) http://bebbled.com/f3.apk
2) http://bebbled.com/f4.apk
3) http://bebbled.com/f5.apk
Quick reply: f4 worked!

OK great! The toggle button works? It does turn on and turn off the light?
Also, can you check if the widget works?
Here's the final version. It has all debugging and logging disabled. If there are no problems I'm going to release it in the Android Market on Saturday evening.

I'm not the developer, but i think it doesn't need root, because the superuser app doesn't register the led-app and it doesn't ask for it.
So I've been testing stuff out and I notice that when I have 3g turned off I get like twice the battery life. Is there an app anyone knows of that keeps 3g off unless specifically using data without having to manually use a 3g/2g toggle?
Nexus S - cm7
tasker would do it, its not free but its really worth the money

Every app I tried since 2.3.x... none seem to be able to disable your mobile data connection.
Thanks.

Widgetsoid is awesome, but it still only throws you into "Network settings" menu, not toggling the "Use only 2G networks" button.
Is it even possible tho? On my older phones (Desire, Desire Z) I remember it was impossible to do a button to instantly toggle between 2G and 3G.
Control Bar?

Try xda superpower. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for but it is useful. You can set it to disable data when the screen is off, set exemptions for specific apps, and a whole bunch of other options. Its free so you might want to give it a try.

Hello,
Does anyone know how to remove the ongoing Wifi Notification from the notification tray?
I’m referring to “Wi-Fi connected to [network name]” sticky notification.
I want to remove it because it is really annoying and takes up space in the tray .
I know that there was a hack made for Verizon’s Galaxy S4 however that required custom recovery. Currently my Note 3 is rooted (root de la vega method) but the bootloader is still locked.
Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!!
Think you can do it with xposed/wanam mods.

For the longest time when I first got the Note 3 was very annoyed with this "feature". I finally dug deep enough and found where you can turn this off.
Settings > Wi-Fi Settings > [Click Menu when on the Wi-Fi list/options screen] > Advanced > Wi-Fi Notifications: uncheck.
I mean, who would think to push the menu button when already this far into a settings screen? I didn't, until now... So happy now as this was one of my only real complaints I had with the Note 3 (stock).
Ugh I had such a bad experience with Xposed / Wanam. It nuked battery life and made MMS messages stop working. Had to uninstall it, not worth it.

I couldn't locate the final setting, however I bought a Note 3 rooted it but it was already on the stock 4.4.2.
I currently have a htc one m8 stock android 4.4.4 with verizon and discovered an app called Notification Cleaner by Sagar Vaidya. Its free on the playstore and workes like a charm. I had it display system apps and checked off android system and have yet to receive another notification. Hope this helps some users.
Hi guys,
I just develop (my first android dev) the free app "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle" to be able to switch on/off the internet tethering bluetooth connection without to use the bluetooth settings each time. It works with the fOmey rom and others android platforms > 4.0.3, no root needed.
This application works only if tethering already works before and if the devices are paired.
Hope it will be usefull...

You not need to install it on your phone, just on your gear (if you want to use internet with the gear over your phone by tethering.)
After install it on your Gear, add the widget on your gear and toggle it.

hi,
If you want to connect your Gear watch to internet over your phone, you must install the app on the watch gear only and add the widget "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle" on the desktop of your Gear.
it's the same when you go into the bluetooth settings of your Gear Watch (with the fOmey's ROM) and you select the tethering checkbox client.
(If you want to connect your tablet to internet over your phone, you must install the app on the tablet only and add the widget "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle" on the desktop of your tablet.
If you want to connect your phone A to internet over an other phone B, you must install the app on the first phone A only and add the widget "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle" on the desktop of your phone A.)
Just a suggest : can you hide the name under toggle? Because I don't use a classic grid (I use 5x3) and so I have to expand widget for see all the words... Maybe without name can be more nice and less intruder!

I ll do some tests and bring a solution. Not easy because the widget works on any android devices, not only Gear.. I don t find a sample to make a widget as a real icon with same title... (if someone knows, thank you for the help)
Thanks for developing this! So much easier to turn on tethering now!

Updated! Now seems perfect mate!!! Great work!
I´we noticed that when I have the bluetooth tether connected all the time, my Note 3 drains battery in high grade.
Your widget/app works fine to enable bt tether but I dislike the idea of doing it manually when I need internet connection.
So I have a Request:
Is it possible to add a setting that automatically enables bt tether after an set amount of time from that the screen is turned on?
Not straight away when it turns on since I don´t need internet access when I only turn on the Gear for a short time watching the clock for example.
And it ofcourse needs to turn the bt tether off again when the screen goes off.
Is this possible to do? Or does anyone have another idea of how doing this automatic?
Thanks for a great app btw!

This could be done with Tasker Intents, or with Tasker Secure Settings but only IF the app/widget allows the Intent to toggle the connection.
I tried but it seems the intent was not there in Secure Settings.
I will look at the manifest file and see if the Intent "allow toggling" can be called from Tasker Intent plugin

Yeah I thought so to, but it would be nice to have it included in the app.

Yes, I will see what I can do to include this option inside the app. and include a retry/auto too for disconnections..

Hello,
Is there anyway to get Autoremote to work directly with the Note 3 over bluetooth and not require internet? I'm sure I"m missing something? thanks.
You need internet first to register device in autoremote
After that, you only need standard Bluetooth connection to send commands
@Brendo my bluetooth autoremote seems to work fine.
However if I try to send a notification (not a quick message) via bluetooth it doesn't seem to get received on the gear
Please try and let me know if you can send and receive a NOTIFICATION thanks

Stock notifications aren't available on the gear. You can get the pull down bar in null rom, but even then I don't think it works with all apps. I've not tested though. If you mean the notifications like standard way that gear manager sends notifications, we really need an sdk to work out how to utilize that (there are workarounds where some apps used existing channels)

No, perhaps you misunderstood,
if you go into the autoremote app and select "devices" then there is a small envelope on the right as well as a triangle - these are used to send quick messages and notifications ( by autoremote app )
I can send the message, but not the notification by bluetooth..... however notificatio does work fine by wifi and it gets received by the gear no problem

I understand now. I had a look sending notification via plugin in tasker - which is the same, but didn't realise how notification was sent. Sounds like message uses direct Bluetooth where as notification routes through wifi. Sounds like you'll need to check with dev (may be a bug or unfinished since Bluetooth is recent addition to app?)

The one thing I've noticed is that when you click and hold the device, and the menu comes up, when I select "connect Bluetooth device, it will say it is connected. But, right after that, it says "not a valid QR code". So I've been wondering if that has anything to do with it.

I've done this and it still doesn't work. Still getting "retrying 1/5" etc. I'm starting to think I must have some other BT connection issue because I've been trying to get the BT GPS sharing working again. It worked a few null roms back but seems to be broken now. I've searched all over the phone and the gear but can't find anything that would be blocking certain BT functions. Everything else works between the phone and the gear (notifications, weather, mini gallery, pedometer backup).

In Autoremote, on the devices tab, click on the bluetooth icon of each paired autoremote device to switch ON, and turn wifi off ( assume you have already long pressed and "add as Bluetooth device )
If ON, the icon is blue, if off grey

Yep, tried it multiple ways. Like I said, I think I've got some other connection issue. I even tried the Smart Remote app from the gear store and haven't ever been able to get it to connect either. At first I thought it was due to the null rom but others have said it works for them.
I just have no idea what would allow "selective" connections.
Edit: I just noticed that on the phone, in tasker, it shows as an active profile but in the gear it does not. I even set up a generic profile just to pop up a notification. If I test the action it works but the profile still shows as inactive and in the notification panel it still shows "no active profiles" yet all other functions continue to work. Can someone confirm if this is the same on their gear?

I had the same, initially, it took some time on the Gera with Tasker.
Try switch profile off, then on, save reboot, reconnect and have patience.
Instead of connecting to a "named" connection, leave that bank and choose the optional "bluetooth address" in taker profile state

Connection Lost
I use autoremote on the gear over bluetooth and it work well with my note 3.
I have tasker which enable bluetooth in gear and note 3 when they connect them in bluetooth.
It work great until the watch goes in deep sleep. At this time the connection is broken until I reboot. I try to enable persistent notification on the gear when tasker enable autoremote bluetooth (to prevent the service to be killed) but at this time I have another problem, the gear and the phone are not able to go in deep sleep so I have a big battery drain.
If someone have ideas to help I'll be very glad.

I rebooted both phone and gear and the first try was successful. Next attempt back to trying. One thing I noticed was that upon restart both taskers showed the Bluetooth profile as active. After the first test the tasker on my phone now shows inactive. Prior to restart it was the gear that showed inactive.
Either way, this is progress. Now to find out why they aren't staying active.

After series of reboots in various orders, this is finally working. Now that it is, I can even say it's much faster than while tethered.
Now I can't wait to get my home automation setup and working. To control it all from the watch is going to be awesome.
Thanks everybody for your support and ideas.
