unfortunetaly i dont think so there will be any car holder available on the market unless you make a DIY car holder or fixing it by your own

Brodit makes passive and active car holders for the Xperia Z. There is already a thread in this forum. Link to products here:
http://www.brodit.com/productList.html?brand=Sony&model=Xperia+Z&pn=prod
Now you just have to figure out how to get one at your location, since brodit seems not to sell them directly.

Sugru is the perfect material for this. It will hold it fast, it won't stain and it'll remove easily when you want to switch phone. http://www.sugru.com
And no, I don't work there, I've just used it.

Try clingo holders. My dk26 sticks to it like a charm. Although, personally i just stick the phone to the clingo w/o the dock, as i prefer the dock to be used at home. But it should work perfectly.

Thanks for the pointer
I'm using a pdair case with the stud on the rear fitting into a pdair universal mount that suction fits onto the windshield. Check the pdair website for details.

Hello,

Bought it here: http://www.haid-services.de/kfz-hal...odit-halterung512246-htc-incredible-s-kfz.htm
Brodit it´s best i ever had!
Nice thanks for pointing that out. Looks like I then need to buy a separate windscreen mount as couldn't see any on the Brodit site, is that correct?
Many thanks
Ant
verizon seems to have released a decent looking one too, would provide link, but at work right now. edit for link later.

Now THAT'S more like the setup I would want!
Here is a ebay seller with a good amount of accessories. I just bought one of is windshield mount.

Windscreen mounts for Incredible S
Also consider Herbert Richter, a little expensive, but well worth extra pennies.
I just received Verizon's, and it's superb. It's more like a dock, where you plug your car charger into the back of the mount and the dock charges the phone.

Bump. Anyone tried out the official Verizon car dock for this? I heard that it defaults to launching the VZW navigator, but can that be changed?

Solutions to looseness in Car Dock with case-less D4's?

I like my phone naked, and I have the Moto/VZW D4 car dock that is made a bit larger so you can fit phones with cases in it. However, I hate that my case-less phone is loose (and perpetually at an angle) in the dock just cause I decided to not buy a case.
Has anyone come up with make-shift solutions to this?
Thanks!
There should have been an insert with your car dock that allows for using without or without a case.
*facepalm* Duh...
Thanks bro

Looking for decent car dock

Sony's car dock is a joke - it's a generic dock for all their phones, may as well just buy some equally crappy thing off ebay for a pittance.
I'm looking for a proper dock with charging and audio-out built in. Having to plug and unplug USB and headphone jacks every time you dock and undock your phone is ridiculous. In fact, I don't know if I can commit to buying the Xperia Z without one.
Yes I am with you need a car dock with charger.

Wonder if you could take the desktop cradle, glue it onto your dash, then re solder some wires to get the car plug 12v... Seriously, it might be a way if Sony doesn't release one
I've considered modding the desk dock, would also require adding some sort of clip to hold it through bumps/whatever. Far from ideal though, and a fair bit of effort I'd prefer not to go to... :-/

Yeah, they're better than nothing I guess, but they always seem to use power cords that are moulded into the unit, and none of their stuff supports audio out.
Take a look at Samsung's car docks for their flagship phones as an example of how to do it right - microUSB input for charging (means you can take your power from whatever source you like, useful for eliminating ground loops), and a 3.5mm phono socket in case you want to connect to an AUX port on your head unit (because BT sucks).
EDIT: Oh, and particularly for the Xperia Z, a car mount that uses the dock connector - rather than USB - is extremely useful, because otherwise you've got to fiddle around opening the USB socket cover to connect a charger.

They seem to be stopping their good work though, all they seem to have for the s3/note 2 is a universal passive dock. The way they did it for the galaxy s 2 (i9100 version at least) was how all manufacturers should, best car dock I've owned by far.
I have a Motorola Atrix and the official car dock. It work like a charm and you can even remove a bracket to fit a cased phone in it. Now my Atrix is dead so yeah ...
Wondering why manufacturers don't all just release official docks.
any news here? Still no official dock, afaik, so has anyone heard of a third party dock for the z?
Bump

The idea of modding a normal dock could be a good idea if a oem one doesn't surface.
From the pictures I've seen the desk dock takes a Micro USB input so wouldn't be that difficult to mod.
Brodit bracket to fix it to the car interior, NFC tag on the dock to toggle BT, screen brightness, volume up etc. Not sure quite how you'd get the phone to stay in the dock though, particularly portrait.
Hi-tech elastic band?
I suppose Brodit will release a holder for the Xperia Z similar to the one for the Xperia V. It will use the dock power connectors on the side.
I just wished they allow any micro-USB cable to the holder, not having their own soldered cable.

They swivel, you can put them in landscape, although they're most comfortable in landscape usually.
As others have said though, it's a shame they use soldered/molded cables, rather than allowing microusb.

Official xperia dock work with a case?

Quick question, does anyone with the Xperia dock know if the phone still fits with a case ?
(A thin case like the Nearly There case or the Nillkin hard case)
:good:
I remember seeing one video on youtube where they did put XZ with a case on dock - it needed a firm push, but went in without a problem so you'll be able to find a case that will work with official dock.
thats good to know! Krusell FrostCover seems to be the thinnest i have found so far
got a K frost and it does not fit in the dock properly.
Almost, so you will have to:
- cut the case for pins to make contact
- enlarge the dock just a bit with dremel
& hopefully the pins are aligned
Anyway cover is no pain to remove, an you can let it hang with lanyard while phones docked.

Is it possible to customize the case or the dock to fit this case. I'm not against using a dremmel to adapt the dock to fit but will find out more once that case arrives. I have two other cases both way to big.

Hi, was this site legit? I want to order a case that only them sell so I can give me a feedback about this site!
Has someone found a case that will fit the dock?
It is a shame to use a case on a device as beautiful and durable as the Xperia Z.

True enough, but in my opinion they never look good, and it makes the phone more difficult to put in or get out of your pocket. Add that to me very rarely dropping my phone and it just isn't worth it for me.

Car holder query

Has anyone found a car holder that works like the dock? That is, charges via the pogo pins and does away with the need for messing with the USB port?
Sony seems to have given up on car accessories of late.

I have the Brodit one and I really like it, worth the price in my opinion. It's hardly larger than the device itself, and it allows you to swivel it in any orientation you like.

I agree. I use it myself and it's great.

I use the official dock bolted to a universal screen mount. The dock rests on the dash so it doesn't wobble and if I make a manoeuvre strong enough to dislodge it then I'm probably looking at a big insurance claim anyway :silly:
