So I'm having this problem with my HTC One developer edition that it's running really slow on wifi from time to time. Sometimes it will be so bad it even times out trying to load store, websites or even the speedtest gave me a "network error".
And no, it's not caused by someone hogging my internet, running speedtest from the computer or ipad right before or after gives me the advertised speeds for my internet.
I would be interested to see if anyone else is experiencing this.
Here's the comparison, HTC and then iPad mini.

Pretty same problem. I bought at the end of May. After use two days, I found out the wifi problem. Have you update the system or install other Roms?
No problem here if you check the top result
I am having the same problems my phone it's no the developers , but my wifi t's so slow well the upload speed is up 20mps and the download is only 5 mps witch does not make any sense y tried my other devices and they are fine 20 up 20 down i dont know if it is due to the aluminum cover that the radio its weak or what
I am having the same issues on mine it is pretty ridiculous how slow it is no matter what WiFi router I am connected to. I haven't found a fix either, in fact many of the problems I have in my stock unrooted HTC Ones (yes I have been through 2 of them) have been something not many people experience and people keep saying it is my fault. Will keep searching for a fix but if anyone else finds one it will help!

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if any one is currently, or has in the past, had connection issues with their g1. I believe I read there was an issue when RC29 came out, but I'm not totally sure. Anyways, here is my problem. I am running a rooted and unlocked g1 with dwangs 1.6 on it. I have AT&T so I only have edge as well. I've noticed that I started getting a lot of "Network Connection Errors" a few days ago. I'm pretty sure it started before I rooted, but it seems to be worse now. I upgraded to 2.1, and then downgraded again in the past two or three days. My downloads from the Market are constantly stopping and being unbelievably slow (yes, I know EDGE is slow, but they are significantly slower than normal). When trying to search the market, and/or use apps that access the network I'm constantly having to click retry to gain a good network connection. Hopefully you guys have some insight. Thanks!
nope... not really, not on any of my 7-8 G1's, all broken for diff reasons (never signal issues). but im on T-Mo
Hi all,
Within the past week or so, I've noticed a fairly large drop in the signal strength from both my wireless lan and 3g signals. With the cell signal, it was even dropping to edge sometimes when I was outside in an area which used to give me full bars. Wireless isn't much better, and it seems to be fluctuating between 4/5 signal and 2/5 signal even though I'm close to my router. Again, I used to have full signal in the same location. Nothing really would have changed.
Yesterday I tried flashing Continuum (2.3.4) instead of running the stock 2.2 that I had before. The 3g signal seems to be *slightly* more consistent, although I'm still not at full bars, whereas I always was before.
Is this a common occurrence? Is it my hardware, and can I fix it myself, or do I need to send it in to Rogers? I've only had the phone for about 6 months now. I wonder if it's under warranty still (assuming I flash back the original ROM and bootloader).
If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated. It's odd, but the wifi signal almost gets boosted when I'm trying to use the internet, but not to full bars even when I'm near the router.
Bump. Is this the wrong place to ask this question?
Cheers
My AT&T Captivate has similar issues. Mine started about a month ago. I haven't put any effort into figuring out the root cause.
Yeah, I'd really like to figure out what's up though. Does the hardware just crap out after a few months of use? Thanks samsung!

This trend happened with my HTC Aria as well. I don't believe its anything related to Samsung hardware crapping out.
So, if it's software, what would be consistent across a ROM and kernel flash?
I recently fixed a network error effecting call quality by flashing a new modem. I know our issues are different, but since you did flash new ROM i dont think it could hurt.

Stumbled across this article on Toms Hardware today and felt like it was a good read for this thread.

Unfortunately it's not just my wifi that has issues, but 3g as well.

Have you tried flashing a different modem? The one that came with your current rom may be different than you had before which would account for your weaker signals. Different modems work better in different areas. Try something else and see if it doesn't help, such as JK4 or JL3.
I haven't yet, but I actually had the problem before I flashed the ROM.
Where are you located. I have absolutely ATROCIOUS reception in Atlanta, and ATT says they have some 50 towers down. Your area might be the same. In my basement where I used to have 3 bars consistently, i know have to run around the basement struggling to get one bar to send a text. ATT needs to get their act together or everyone might start switching to Verizon.
In Toronto, Canada. We usually have good reception. It's only recently that I have had issues.
check with other people such as your family and see if they have bad service too, if so call your service provider, there may be an issue on their end. Other than that all I can suggest would be a full reset to factory and a master clear and then restart from there. While that is annoying, it might be worth it to solve the problem.
Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm S-OFF and am all up to date (ran the latest RUU). (Was on stock ICS until a week or so ago, when I ran rumrunner).
On some roms, I have pretty severe data connection issues. For example, on ViperOne 3.5, 3g/4g drops out a ton, and is very unstable while tethering. I also notice issues when just using data on the phone, without tethering going. I can have full signal, then the data connection will just drop, and sometimes take several tries to reestablish. Sometimes I get a 'failed to establish wireless data connection' notification briefly until it reconnects. Sometimes it will randomly drop to 1X or the signal bars will flash to empty and back again before crapping out. It's very bizarre.
With the stock rom, I don't have it set up to tether, but I did stress test it a bit with Netflix and some data usage and didn't notice any issues. With CM11, I did tether for a while and it seemed rock solid as well. With the GE 4.4 rom, same issue with data dropping. I also did NOT notice this issue at all before unlocking/s-off.
It really seems to be a software issue, but I'm at a loss here. I really have been liking ViperOne aside from this issue, and would love advice on getting my data connection stable.
I have always had these issues too. Very annoying. I don't know if it was good before I s-offed and unlocked because that was the first thing I did when I got the phone. I cant get through a showtime or Netflix TV epside without it disconnecting at least 3 times during the 45 minute show. Matter of fact it even does it on WiFi. I don't tether so never noticed that situation. Every Rom I have used I had this problem. Just a little note I have not tried an ruu yet.

It's making me seriously consider grabbing a Nexus 5 or something (but then I'd miss the IR blaster, which comes in handy at bars, haha). But, I'm really thinking (at least for me) that it's some sort of software issue. Rage One and CM11 both seem rock solid, I flashed to both of those and streamed Netflix over the tether for a good 20+ minutes with no problem. Restore ViperOne and repeat the same thing, and connection drops several times within the first few minutes.
I've never gotten data to work for me consistently on cm10.1 or 10.2, haven't tried 11 yet.
I noticed this on the newest radio.. I switch back to the previous radio and my data drops (specifically while tethered) went down a lot.
Odd issue with my Droid Turbo. Google services and certain apps, including Reddit Sync, facebook and youtube, all lag/hang over wifi. Over LTE there is no lag.
I have a 6th gen (newest) Airport Extreme with firmware 7.7.3 (latest) and notice the same slow, laggy performance on the 2.4ghz and 5ghz network. Passowrd is a WPA2 Personal (AES).
I've seen reports so far on a lot of newer android devices (4.4.4 and lolipop) with slow wifi performance, not just the turbo. Curious if any of the other owners here have laggy wifi? Sometimes it will start to load and hang, hit refresh and it'll load 50% of the way, refresh it again and it will finally load.
I've tried a factory reset, clearing problematic apps cache, uninstalling and re-installing problematic apps, resetting router/modem, changed my phones wifi profile dhcp to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4, no change in the wireless performance.
Only thing I haven't tried is a new wireless channel on my router. But since both 2.4ghz and 5ghz display the same problem, I ruled that out.
Funny thing is a speedtest over wifi gives me my full 100 down. Once it loads it's fast, just takes 20-30 seconds of lag before loading.
Thanks all!
I started a thread on reddit about it. Other Droid Turbo owners are experiencing the same exact issues. Posting a link for reference.

Thanks for the reply. I was waiting to see if anyone else experienced these problems before I posted back.
At least for me, this slow and lag filled wifi experience is ruining the droid turbo. Fingers crossed issues are resolved with lolipop

I chatted with moto last night about the laggy and poor ranged wifi and a couple other issues. I have a screen flicker when using google messenger and capacitive buttons stop working at times. They had me factory reset last night (which I really didn't want to do). They said if it doesn't help they will send me a new device.
I've had a weird half-load the page, stall, then finish loading thing going on for awhile (droid turbo).
Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin, all behave the same. Speed tests are fine, I've had zero wifi
connectivity problems other than the antenna is weak on these phones, IM/SMS works fine,
I seem to get the stalls in youtube but not netflix that I can tell but that's some pretty
iffy observation. The page loading behavior is steady.
I think that it loads fine on LTE, I can click wifi OFF when a page is stalled and it loads.
I can follow the same link and open in a different browser and it'll load right up if I leave it on LTE.
Something is up, I can't tell what but it's been there awhile now. It's really, really, really annoying.
Factory reset didn't fix it, and it did it with no apps installed.
If L don't pop up soon and fix this, bye bye Turbo, will miss your battery..
I'm getting a replacement device for the screen flicker. Let you know if it helps any of the page loading problems but I doubt it.

I'm not holding my breath but I bought this the day it came out. Unless the early ones had a problem I expect to see no difference. The lack of replies here either means no one has the problem or just lack of commenting.
I have the slow loading also. I did the factory reset but it seems as I put more apps on it's getting slow again and stalls at times. would a new device fix this?

I got a new one today but didn't have a lot of time to play with it. It came late due to the snow then I had to go snow blow. Google+ is definitely way better but Chrome pages still stall during loading. I'll update when I have more time to play with it. Any apps you want me to compare?

Hey, glad you got the replacement! The play store always stalls, along with reddit sync. If you could test either of those, that's be great
Thanks much man!

After really playing with it I don't think its any better especially on Chrome. Google+ is the only thing that seems improved. I have tried it on all of the newest ac3200 routers as well.
On the plus side my battery life has been awesome. But still the wifi sucks. My old device had a build date of 9/28. The new one is 11/8.
I still kinda think there is a router chipset that the Turbo doesn't like. I have this problem at work, despite it being a 100/100 connection. At home on 50/5, its just fine, be it 5ghz or 2.4.

I feel the same way, but am beyond the return period. I started a broader search and it seems like the Moto X has similar wifi issues. Maybe it's more of a Motorola issue.
I'm using a 6th gen airport extreme, how about you?

I started off with a Netgear D6230 , Then I bought a ASUS RT-AC87U and saw no difference so I returned that and kept my D6230 . I had no problem buying a new router but it was only 6 months old and made no sense. My ipads ran fine on both routers along with two xbox's, GS4, GS3, Samsung TV Roku. BTW I ordered a Nexus 6 , I will miss the battery life.
Same issues here. Hope to get some traction!
Here 's the thread on the Motorola forum about the turbo app data lag over wifi.

Thought I'd pass it along.
I have a netgear r7000 and r8000. I've noticed if upnp, usb features are enabled, or dhcp is used, these erroneous issues tend to occur. Since disabling, i haven't had any of these issues. Also comcast turned up ipv6, which was also an issue...disabled in the routers and in my switch, and issues disappeared. Turbo wifi works excellenet
I've got a Question, I have the Mi 11 Ultra China variant with 8 GB RAM, unlocked bootloader and the official EU Stock Rom.
I noticed that in games even if they are low quality games with low graphics, they are some random Sound Lags.
They appear also with headphones so I suggest this is a Software problem.
I also had that problem with locked bootloader and the official China ROM, so does anyone have or noticed this lag too or I'am the only one?
Edit:
I found the Problem, If I play any games with WiFi turned on, the Sound starts lagging after some seconds , but with mobile data, everthing works perfectly.
Any solutions for that? I tried different WiFi connections and it only happens with WiFi turned on.

I dont think so, every app uses mobile data or WiFi, depending on what if have turned on
This seems for me like a Bad connection, but my Phone is the only device atm and I had never such problems like this in the past with my Phones

Okay so it only happens when you play online? Like with other people on a server? If that's the case i would guess you have a bad internet or wifi connection. So the phone wouldn't be the problem.

Even in Games that have no online play, just Serversided, I got those Lags and in offline games too.
And I know that I have got a very good connection in my country so that wouldn't be the case.
The phone itself is also new so the phone is not the problem, Software I would say
The thing is, my mobile data Connection is worse than my wifi connection.
It is not really the best, just for WhatsApp and so on
I'm out of ideas. I googled a little and other people who had such problems had either bad net latency or something running in the background. I agree that it seems to be some software problem but it's strange that it only happens with active WiFi.
I think it's Software related because my gf got the Mi10 and she has no Problems with WiFi connection turned on.
Let's hope that this will be fixed in the future.
I will Report that to xiaomi.
If someone finds a solutions, they can share them here.
So little Update from me,
Some of my Games that I play had an Update and all of them which had that Sound Problem with WiFi turned on have been fixed.
So NOW I would say it's a third Party App Problem or maybe a Android 11 compatibility Problem with some newer Devices.
