[Q] Removing the Beats Audio logo - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone tried to remove the Beats Audio logo from the back of the handset? I read that on previous HTC models, the Beats logo is slowly worn away during a couple of months usage, but I'd like it gone sooner as I'm not too keen on branding cluttering up an otherwise beautiful design.

OP of this thread had the One for 5 days and reported that their logo is starting to rub off.

[Q] Incredible S or Nexus S (I DID RESEARCH BEFORE POSTING)

Ok i already look onto many many post on this and i still have some question left to decide either im gonna buy the nexus s for 300 or the Incredible s for 300.
1) Comparing the Screen S-LCD (IS) to Super Amoled (NS) which one do you prefer? and is the multitouch better in one or another? I am hesitant on the pentile structure of the S-AMOLED....
2) Battery life which one is better? base on current custom roms/kernel for IS and NS
3) Audio quality from the headphone jack?
4) State any problems with either one.
5) Call quality?
I had a nexus one in the past i loved it but i , for fun, overpriced the phone on a selling site and someone actually wanted to buy it. I couldn't pass up the offer.
oh and will the IS ever have a strong community behind it?
Marginal difference between s lcd and s amoled...... Believe me u won't know unless u actually hold them side by side
Then both have gingerbread now,
HTC IS had a premium build whereas Samsung is plastic, then depends whether u like HTC sense or stock, and also HTC IS has more RAM both are equally fast ,
No root for IS atm , again a personal choice I don't prefer to root my device and void my warranty, HTC has better camera and better sound no comment about headphones though u can always buy a Sony or skull candy earphones for that matter

Both have a strong backing behind them but nexus being a Google phone it will have more development going on

Thank you very much, but i am more interested in the audio jack, as in the quality output of the device. For example my nexus one audio jack would always have a hissing sound similar to my ipodtouch 1gen. Someone mentioned this is due to the hardware. The update fixes it i think by turning the audio jack off whenever it doesn't play anything or switch between songs, i may be wrong but that what i notice when i pause my music it would hiss for 0.5-1 second and then shuts off. Does the IS have this problem?
Oh and hows the battery life of your IS?
The Nexus S has a 1500 mAh battery and the IS has a 1450 mAh. Also, the super amoled consumes quite less battery than the SLCD. So statistically, the Nexus should have better battery life.
If you don't want to ROOT your phone, the IS (with HTC Sense) is definitely the way to go. If you really want updates and/or ROOT, then you shud get NEXUS S (it's a google phone so it'll get a lot more and fast updates than the IS - sad, but true)
having your android buttons (home back menu search) rotate to match the orientation of the phone is reason enough to choose the IS.
it also feels great, its kinda rubbery, so you wont see fingerprints on it and the back has a very interesting shape which i love too.
i was stuck between the same 2 phones before i chose, but ultimately i went for the IS and i dont regret it.
hopefully we will have root for IS very soon.
its the little things

The hiss is probably due to androids internal media service still running.
I have experienced it on all my android devices. (hero, sgs and is)
I think it has to shut off completely first, before it shuts the power to the speaker/jack off.
When power is still being fed, you will always have some noise from the device's internals.
Battery life is OK for me, but this varies per user ofcourse.
I do try to charge wherever possible, I always have my usb cable with me.
Cheers

What internal storage it shipped with ?? in specs they said its 1.1 GB ??
Ya its 1.1 gig buy dude the quality of incredible s is way better than plastic Samsung..... Seriously trust me....HTC quality is impeccable..... Flawless....buy it u won't regret it... I love the HTC sense a lot.... It's very useful and cool too....

got the Incredible S
So yea i ended up buying the incredible s over the nexus s, i am in love with this phone! the incredible s build quality is awesome only problem is the back cover squeak but not that big of a problem since i use a case and it disappears completely. I thought i needed root for custom rom and stuff because the only reason i root my phone is for a better battery life and less bugs. However, trust me this phone last much longer than my previous nexus one. Not sure how it compare to the nexus s but it is enough for me since im rarely away from a computer for more than 10 hours lol.... First day i got it, probably 36 min of modern combat 2, 1 1/2 hours of scrubs(video), surfing the internet for 3 hours , phone 15 min, other little stuff and the rest of the time was on idle. A total of 9 hour and still 56% left.
My friend has a nexus s and comparing it to mine, mines sexier on the outisde, but once this phone is software s-off or xtc clip, we'll be almost even on the inside. The call quality on the nexus s is worse than my IS, even my friend admits it. The audio jack however is better output on the nexus s.
I do miss the customization, different kernels and roms but it not worth choosing the nexus s over just for it that in my opinion. Even in the long run we might miss out or be the one of the last to get on the update but im guessing the future software will start being opt for dual-core phone like the ios4 performance on iphone 4 vs iphone 3g.
Thank you everyone for helping me choose
Good choice mate..... Have fun....

Even me and my friend were in a dilemma which one to go for. Nexus s or IS...
I decided for RED IS available around here and my friends sayin Nexus S is better...
Any way or the other, I jus LOOOOOOVE HTC SENSE!!!!
SENSE FTW!!!

Pixels, dead or alive ?

Today i have noticed something about the pixels on the screen.
I have 3 white one's which are visible only on pure black background.
And a black wich is visible on any other color.
So my question is does anyone has same issue? And can that somehow spread sounds a little funny but i wanna know any oppinions
Frankly it does not bother me and i think to keep it....
White ones would indicate that thoes pixels are still alive, maybe there just stuck, black usually means the pixel is dead, but it still could be alive, just stuck
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using Tapatalk 2
Interesting i have been reading all about stuck and dead and nothing specific..... but seems that is a common problem for HTC.
I have 3 of them aswell but is ok im use to them all of my htc use to have at least 2-3 stuck or dead pixels it is ok for me
I contacted support and they wanted to repair it I didn't expect that from them. But until it get worse or else i will wait

[Q] ridiculous screen wake lag

This issue is present in both sony models (xperia Z & ZL). I put my ZL side by side with my old at&t branded DUAL CORE galaxy s3, a nexus 4 (same exact processor), an iphone 5, and an at&t branded htc one.... my brand new crazy expensive ZL takes WAY longer to wake up from sleep then ALL OF THEM. Every one of these phones had a BIG LEAD over my phone. How is there not a thread about this already? When I saw my old GS3 woke up way faster I was sad.... but when I saw how fast the htc one screen woke up I was straight up embarrassed. What are the odds this issue will be resolved? Developers on this forum are very capable and willing to work hard but to an extent. With so much stiff competition I have to ask how many developers will invest their time into even looking into this issue. I have tried every rom/kernel available to me at the moment to no avail. I have tried changing every setting and even eliminated the lock screen... no change. I tried raising the min. cpu speed... nothing.
To make matters worse every single one of the phones I compared my ZL to had better viewing angles and a brighter screen then the POS screen sony decided to cheap out on and stick in this phone. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HIGH PPI IF I CANT SEE ANYTHING ON THE SCREEN UNLESS I HAVE MY PROTRACTOR OUT TO MAKE SURE IM LOOKING AT THE EXACT RIGHT ANGLE. Sony should give you a free protractor key chain with the purchase of this phone I heard about this in reviews but never took it seriously because I didnt realize the extent of the issue. If I look at my phone just slightly off angle the colors are washed out and if its sitting on the table and im looking down on it from my desk the screen is 50% washed out and some colors are muted.
I hear the htc one x had the same wake lag issues and it was resolved via a software update. I wonder if we will be so lucky....
Anyone have any idea or solution to get rid of or at the very least lessen this extremely irritable wake lag?? Let me know !!

To be honest, I don't notice any wake lag on my device. I was using a Note 2 prior to this phone, and there were complaints about the wake lag which I too noticed. Coming to this phone, my screen is quick to wake up. I have no complaints regarding this.
Screen angle, this is something many have been complaining about but I view my device at the normal viewing angle and so far it doesn't bother me. Yes, when I look at my phone while it being on a table, the color do look washed out, but again, nothing too bad. You're complaining about the lack of brightness on the device, however where are you facing such an issue? Indoors or outdoors? I use my device at the lowest brightness and yet it is brighter than my Note 2. I have no complains over the brightness of this device.
My only issue with it is the battery life and the vividness of the color reproduced by the screen, however I am sure it can be improved by software updates.

[Q] Few questions about HTC One

Hello everyone!
I want to buy a new phone, but I can't decide which one: HTC One or SGS 4 (I9505).
Right now I've got HTC One X, and to be honest I'm not really satisfied with the way it works. I just want to know if HTC fixed all the annoying issues they made with HOX. So let's start:
1. Multitasking. Does it work as it should? Or same as on HOX? It's really annoying, when I move from one app to another, and after few minutes when I want to go back to the previous app it reloads and all my progress is lost.
2. Screen Any brighter/darker points on the screen? Backlight flickering?
3. Speaker volume? Probably it's great, but just wanna be sure
4. Build-in connectors Anything similar to the wifi / gps antena connector issue in HOX?
5. Overheating I know that One gets warm, but does it get as hot as HOX was before the Jelly Bean update?
Those are the main issues I've discovered in HOX. I love the HTC One design, but the look is only a small detail, and if I intend to buy it, I must be sure HTC got rid of all the issues they made with HOX.
Also if there are any other problems with HTC One, please write here about them
Thanks for your help!

Multitasking - there doesn't seem to be any interruption of during multiple uses of apps everything is paused when left and is the same when you return to it. The only time I have noticed it is the reloading of webpages in the native browser which can be avoided by using chrome.
Screen - it can't get any better atm
Speaker volume - this thing is loud with sterio output using 2 speakers with bass boost.
Build in connectors - null
Overheating - I have yet to see this thing heat up to the point of being hot. However it's factory set to run at 1700 I have not tested above that freq.
Coming from the incs my opinions may be biased but using this phone for over a month and I can't seem to find any faults you just have to make sure you enjoy sense (which doesn't suck the way it did at version 3). I can't find any lag either which is something sense used to provide for free in previous versions.

I would agree with your answers whole heartedly with the exception being overheating. Particularly whilst streaming HD video content or playing HD games the device does get very hot. Far hotter than any other device I have ever owned. It doesn't impact its performance however there have been a couple of occasions where my One has got so hot I've had to put it down and leave it for a while to cool down as it was too hot to hold.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
multitasking - sometimes you lose the progress you had in apps, especially if you have a lot of them. If you only have 2-3 apps running, it usually keeps the progress. Swipe away the apps you don't use, and you should have no problems
overheating - I use my phone's navigation a lot. If it is plugged in into a cheap aftermarket car charger, the GPS, mobile data, and the screen is on, it can overheat massively. If you unplug it from the charger, it cools down in a few minutes. I have yet to try an HTC car charger though.
screen - no errors, although the black is not as good as it is on an AMOLED
connection issues - none so far
speaker volume - generally good for a phone, but when more people are talking, it is not too loud. If you use an external speaker, it blows anything away.
also, as a sidenote: if you decide to buy the One, get S-OFF before upgrading to 4.2. If your HBOOT is updated, you cannot get S-OFF.

[Q] Moving from HTC One to Z1 (Questions!)

Let me start by saying that I am an avid HTC fan. Been using all HTC flagship devices..but now I feel its time for a change. I love the One, especially the speakers and the feel of the device, but the camera is really bad. So now I was thinking of moving to the Z1...but before I do..I have couple of queries
1. Custom ROM: I ALWAYS use custom ROMS and I am not too impressed with the choices. Either way, since I have no control over which ROM version I am going to get, I was wondering if there are bootloader lock issues, or other things I should be concerned about? Do I really need to unlock boot loader before I install a custom ROM?
2. I read that the camera doesnt work if the bootloader is unlocked..is this still true? If yes, then how do you guys manage?
3. I read the speakers arent that great (and no comparison to the HTC one), but how is the headphone sound? I read that these devices use the same audio chipset and I know PureX audio (or something like that is great) is available. What is the general view?
4. Do I really need to get a case? (I HATE cases...just kills the beauty of the device!)
Appreciate your comments/remarks.

hi i am also htc fan had htc one replaced it for z1 due to purple tint issue
1)at the moment unlocking bootloader causes camera to break and sony might solve this issue in future
2)at this moment happy with the stock and some roms which can be flashed with locked bootloader
3)as compared to htc one not that much great
4)it depends on u r use i found no need of case
I can't comment on any of the ROM questions as I haven't gone in to that yet, but for the others...
Headphone sound is excellent. I bluetooth mine to some Sony MDR1BT's and the quality is very good. Very negligible difference between BT and cable operation. I have a few sets of high end cans and the quality is right up there. Can't say what the cheap earbuds are like that you get with the phone as I haven't taken them out of the packaging!
With the case, I'm 100% with you on that one, I hate cases on phones. However, the anti shatter film that they put on the front and back scratches ridiculously easy. Easier than most screen protectors I've used (also not a big fan of those either). The glass is meant to be very durable, but the film on top is not. I'd recommend a tempered glass set, pretty sure you can get them for the front and back.
Camera will break if you try to unlock, rooting and installing Xperia roms however are fine
Also I am really mad about the camera quality...
You should also know that you won't be having a lot of choices in rom and mode department, if you come from HTC (like me) you will feel a giant hole in Z1 threads...
Speaker is not going to be pleasing in anyway but you should know that this is a waterproof phone, so shouldn't be having high expectations, and finally I don't use cases and this phone really doesn't need one so no worries there

Hi mate
1. We have, for now, just a few custom ROMs, based on CM (PAC) or based on stock which is better solution for now - because we still have camera problem when we unlock bootloader.
And, yes, if you want custom ROM based on CM or anything else except stock you have to unlock bootloader because you have to flash custom kernel and it's possible to flash kernels only when you unlock bootloader.
2. Yes, camera will broke if you unlock bootloader, for now.
But, as you could see, few guys claims that have informations that Sony is already working on it.
Also, what's important is to backup TA numbers before you unlock bootloader.
On custom ROM you can't use X-Reality and you'll lost any chance to get it back even when you go nack to stock - if you haven't backup TA.
You have great tutorials for that.
3. Speaker is good enough.
You have MODs and you don't have to unlock bootloader to flash that MOD.
But headphones that you get with your phone are great - sound is deep and the base is strong and clear.
If you are using professional headphones you'll get even better sound.
4 Absolutely agree with that statement.
Z1 is beautiful device and it would be shame to put "condom" over it.
I bought front and back screen protectors (follies) and just ordered rubber frame for it.
You can buy rubber or metal frame that looks awesome and protect device but your device isn't covered with case and it's perfectly visible.
I would definitely recommed Z1.
I had few Xperia devices (I still have them) and I can say Z1 is the best device I ever had.
Elegant, fast and beautiful.
And....as we are on 4.2.2 and are very, very satisfied, you can just imagine how happy we will be when we get Kitkat for it

Also coming from the HTC One to the Z1 and this is my first Sony, it seemed like the logical choice and it's certainly the best phone for me at the moment anyway, it beats the competition in my eyes.
As for my reaction to the Z1 and it's performance, well i couldn't be happier, i'm not knocking the One, i think it's a fantastic phone and I would still recommend it to anyone.
I'm running a custom rom on my Z1 at the moment, Monx rom and it's superb, i've got CRT off animation and various tweaks by using xposed mod, i'm also running the google launcher from the Nexus 5 and all in all it's a great combination.
Audio, screen, camera, build quality, battery life, functionality and performance are all top notch, well worth the upgrade.
The bootloader isn't an issue as you can still flash custom rom's.

I wasn't very happy with my xperia x10 because of the updates, so I decided to give sony one more try, I come from HTC One to Z1 (Bell C6906), all I can say is very disappointed, the phone is heavy and more bulkier for a 5" screen hard to operate with one hand, speaker is lousy even compared to my old S3, camera is okay but not what it seems to be 20mp, the whites on website is yellowish even with brightness to high compare to the htc with auto brightness (but I don't have the yellow tint on the device) viewing angles are bad I just tilt the phone 10 degress and the color is washed out, I have to look at the device straight on, I keep my htc one any day over the z1, waterproof is just another gimmick, the phone software/hardware is buggy, it reboots randomly and I was on my 2 DOA replacement, finally sold the Z1 I hope sony can learn from their mistakes and make a better device on their next flagship but for now im staying away from their device because all those problems

The Z1 is a stellar phone, the only problem at the moment is development, however once the camera / bootlock issue is fixed i believe that will turn around, don't get me wrong i loved my HTC, but you really can't compare a last gen phone to a next gen phone and that's what these two are, regardless of how old they are, the 800 is the newest hardware available and if you want to compare it to another device then you should only compare it to another 800 (note 3 and G2) pitting it against the HTC One is a little like bringing a knife to a gun fight, it's going to lose.
As for the screen, I have to agree with you in terms of visibility, but then again i don't hold my phone on a slant when i use it so hardly anything to write home about.
As for the Camera, there is a manual mode so I suggest you look into using that properly before you judge it, simply using the automatic option is going to give you an 8MP picture with lots of features turned on to make it look as good as possible, hardly something a person with knowledge of a decent camera would do.
The bugs you mentioned are literally software issues which will be ironed out with further updates and as i said before once the camera / bootlock issue is sorted i have every confidence that they will be rectified.
As for the bulkiness, i actually like the size, i do have quite big hands so i guess it fits me, I did use the phone in the shop before i bought it so i knew it would work ok, i guess you should have done the same before commiting, bit of a rookie mistake in all fairness.
The speaker is a bit of a come down from the HTC One's boom sound speakers but in terms of loudness and with active equalizers on both, i think you'll find that the Z1's speaker isn't half bad and with them both playing infront of me you could hear both, the HTC didn't exactly drown out the sound of the Z1 so again I believe you should spend a little time tweaking your phone to get the most out of it.
The yellowish tint you describe I actually can't say that I have noticed it, but it's possible that your eyes are playing tricks on you as you've come from one screen to another entirely, check out an s3 compared to the HTC One and you'll see that the One appears to be washed out, but this is just a different screen, not worse or better, different people like different things.
Anyway, none of this matters because by all accounts you've sold your phone now, I just find it strange that you would go out and buy one and then find out all the things that you could have summarized in a shop ?
Either way, good luck with whatever phone you pick next, for me and a lot of others, the Z1 is the best of the bunch at the moment, so it's either Samsung's note 3 or the G2, and I do believe that both of those phones aren't without issues and definitely a pair of large phones if using it with one hand was an issue on the Z1.
PS: Lastly, the water proof casing for me is superb, I can use the phone in the rain (i live in the UK) for me it's a great feature and not a gimmick as you say, the last thing you need is something going wrong with your phone, only for the company to tell you it's water damaged even though you have never got the bugger wet before.
Just my two cents.

In real life everyday use you don't notice a huge difference between snapdragon 800 to 600 speed unless you are a benchmark freak, The HTC One doesn't washed out compared to the S3, you can notice the display on the HTC one a lot whiter and more sharper than the S3, I still have both devices maybe u are a defective One? I have tried the camera in 20mp manual mode play around w the ISO and EV setting I still think its not a 20mp camera phone more of a 13, i was able to test the g2 is felt nicely in a single hand use but is the power and volume key in the back is just not so good, I wish I could try the Z1 device here in Canada I went to many shops they don't even have a demo display if they did I would've tested it before I commited buy. As you can read in the forum not everyone z1 device is waterproof when its submerged in water and why a company dont cover water damage on their warranty, if a device is certified waterproof why not warranty it, I'm not saying Z1 is a bad device but the viewing angle is just deal breaker for me since my phone mostly on a table at work I don't always hold the device dead on
I'm personally using a One and bought my wife a Z1. The Z1 is pretty snappy but the screen viewing angles (while sharing video with someone) and sound is a disappointment compared to the One. The water proofing is top notch (tested thoroughly because of the 6 month accidental damage warranty). Anyone invested in the HTC Sense experience will face a few issues initially especially with migrating from the excellent contacts/ phone application in Sense phones. My wife is now using a purchased app to manage her contacts, ex-dialer or something. Z1's running stock rooted with Xposed.
And like others have already pointed out, ROM dev is pretty scarce on the Z1.
Try the 4.4 launcher and other apps on the z1, simply brilliant.
The OK Google voice activation is quality, works perfect an i've even got a scouse accent.
