So ive never really used bluetooth before....for anything....on anydevice...ever lol. So the other day i bought this nifty little bluetooth controller for my phone (you know...to sneak games in at work ;D btw its a Nyko Gamepad and its awesomesauce). So I found myself looking over at the touchpad on my desk thinking...hmmmm this could be awesome to use with the gamepad! But a quick XDA search seems to report back that Touchpad + android + Bluetooth=Nope.
Heh so my question is, is there any roms out there that support bluetooth (like is it pre cm10 or something?) and if so can I get some opinion on which one I should try ( I suppose that it would be cool to use a cm9 based rom cause then i could use SGA's GamerZ kernel ). Any info would be cool, If you feel like flamin just keep on walkin buddy .
The only ROMs that dont have bluetooth working are the newest 4.2.2 based ROMs (CM10.1). Anything before that should work fine. I used to use my PS3 controller with it all the time.

Development for the TouchPad isn't as fast pace as it used to be. The CM10 ROMs are probably as good as they are going to get. Most devs are working on CM10.1.

When I used my PS3 controller, it was mostly with emulators. PS1, Sega, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, etc. Some Android games worked really well with it though like Shadowgun. The Sixaxis Controller app also lets you create your own button mapping which makes it useful for any android game. I used it with the amazing spiderman, the dark knight, Dead Trigger, Max Payne and others.

i love first person shooters and will sooooo drain a battery if they get games like this on our android os!
Just donated five dollars, I'll post up a quick run down once I get my grubby paws on an apk
I won't risk donating for this one
The guy is the infamous Valdimir Silva - with the worst and sloppiest ports of games like Doom and Quake. I seriously doubt this one will be an exception, but we'll see. Please give us feedback if you get the app. I hope he actually sends you an apk and doesn't take donations for some vaporware or a doom WAD for Quake 2, which I remember exists. I bet his next "port" will be CS 1.6 - there's a doom WAD for De dust too

i want quake3 arena so i can play some instaunlagged on my phone
Force closing after one one run, however, during that one run, it's pretty smooth.
where do i get the pak0.pak? i'm having trouble downloaing in my area and it tells me to get the pak0.pak and move it over using cpu?
Unreal Tournament being ported to Linux is almost impossible because it uses the Unreal Game Engine, which is created by Epic Games and is NOT open source... I mean, you could get the code off some shady torrent site, but there's no possible legal way of porting Unreal Engine to anything other than Windows, Mac OS X, PSP, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Gamecube, Wii, etc...
The Quake engine's source code was released, so it is possible to run Quake now on a PSP, iPhone, ANDROID, etc.
P.S.
If there was an HTC Android phone with a full keyboard, a VERY FAST CPU, a high-res display, 512 MB RAM and some really good GPU, we'd be running Quake 3 and going to WLAN parties by now
Back to evaluating the game.
Pretty choppy on my phone. Not surprised, though.

what ROM are you on? and what phone? i'm on the HTC dream xROM 1.5r4 with about 40 apps (apps2sd of course) and my sdcard specs are in my sig. things runs smooth as hell with NO sound. WITH sound it runs a bit choppy.
G1 with the latest CM rom. I'll try it with no sound and see if that helps.
Thanks.
How do you enable sound
How do you huys enable sound. I saw there was a setting toggle while you are in game and use the menu of the application - toggle sound and toggle onscreen controls and I toggle the sound but nothing happens. Do you have to restart the game to get sound to work? A pretty damn good port btw - I regret saying bad things about the dev...

UT is probably not the best example for a difficult linux port. "Porting" Unreal Tournament to Linux consists of installing it with the Linux installer provided by Epic themselves.

What are some good games Aria ppl are trying? I know its small screen will deter some from playing games but it can handle alot.
I've been playing the Sims 3 for a while but I think there are some better graphic ones that it could do as well. The emulators are retro but has anyone tried psx4droid? Id like some feedback on that. MT3GS ppl say some psx games are laggy!

yea, unfortunately... the bluetooth stack used in our phones are not compatible with the wiimote. So unless that changes, you're not going to have any luck using that particular remote.

Not true. I have hooked up my wiimote to play game boy advance games.
Things you will need:
1. Rooted phone.
2. CyanogenMod rom. Nothing with HTC Sense. Again if you are using Stock, Stock w/Root, or Liberated Stock it will not work.
3. Goto market, download "Wiimote Controller" by C.C.P. [email protected]
4. Follow Setup on the app. It will set up as another keyboard. Only useful for a handful of other apps, but like I said I use it for GBA
thanks for replying, i've been trying to find out if the cyanogen rom made changes to the bluetooth stack. Asked it twice and no resonce in that thread. Figures that I'd get an answer here lol.
This is good to know that it works when i make the switch from liberated to cyanogen

Thanks. It is awesome. I'm gonna try Gameboid later and see if I can get Advance Wars for it.
Guns 'n' Glory FREE is a great tower defense like game with a Western cowboys and indians twist. even the free version is hard enough to keep anyone entertained for a good while.
I like the games My Paper Plane 2, and Home run Battle 3D... The touch screen controls on the aria such too much for proper emulator gaming

Since not many people talked about the emulators, I guess I shall write a bit.
So I've been playing around with the emulators for the past week or so. I have the SNESoid, Gameboid, and PSX4droid emulators. Anyway first the SNES emulator. For the most part, games play pretty well. There is some occasional slowdown but not much. There is a bit lag though on games that use the SA-I processor (mario rpg and kirby super star). Sound on a few games are a little choppy but for the most part, it's decent. Just have to tinker with the settings. Games like super mario world (i have all stars) plays very well. Chrono trigger plays nicely too. I have close to 20 roms right now.
Next is the Gameboid emulator. I have a few roms for the gba emulator (FFI and FFII, and a gundam game, have tried a few others but decided to delete them lol..). I must say, the gba emulator runs the best. It's seems like the Aria hardware was made to play gba games lol. There's no lag whatsoever and the sound is great! I find it ironic because the gba had better hardware than the snes so you would think the snes roms would play better. I think later I'll try more roms like advanced wars or something.
Last is the PSX4droid emulator. Well let's just say it can play the games. First game I tried was chocobo racing. It was a little slow and the sound was bad. Then I tried digimon world 3. The game played well but a little slow and the sound was also bad lol. I'm going to try brave fencer musashi and warcraft II next. Both are currently being downloaded.
Oh btw...I suppose it would make a difference but during my gaming, I only had around 30-40mb of ram. Maybe I should've killed the other apps to gain more memory. I suppose it would run a bit better?
Angry birds beta is the funnest game i've played on the aria yet!

I used to use a wiimote, since I had a wii already. I believe it was called "Wiimote Controller" but the app didn't work with stock sense ui, but it worked with CM6 and I am sure it will work with CM7 but I havn't tested it out.
it should work with most roms that don't base off sense. Sense has a seperate framework than stock android, that is why it doesn't work.

I play emulators on mine every day one mine and they work great. I mainly use SuperGNES and Mupen64. I've heard there are PS1 emulators and Game cube/GBA that also work. I'll try GTA on mine later.
You need to sideload the games to it using EFS but its really easy to do. Also PS4 controllers do work from what I've seen. You can head over the the Nexus Player forum to see more because I haven't checked recently.

OK so I've been really busy with finals coning up next week, but I tested GTA San Andreas and it works great on my Nexus Player. I used the controller from the play store and it functions perfectly. You can install it directly without needing to sideload it. Just goto the play store in chrome and hit install then choose Nexus Player.

So, i'm excited and so close in getting this phone, as you've convinced me this is a great phone with great things to offer, but my main reason for purchasing it would be playing (old, yet demanding) games.
I'm afraid there would be some compatibility issues, or not enough speed in the phone for the little games i'd love to play. So i 'm asking you guys if anyone could test in Retroarch emulator, the games Espgaluda 2 and maybe Mushihimesama (i can provide them if nevessary), using Mame2014 core, Mame2016 and Mame cores. I'd love to have confirmation they are working and are full speed.
Thanks do much guys!!
No problem for me. Espgaluda 2 work flawlessly on my Mi 9 EEA.
However, Mushihime sama does not seam to work. Retroarch crash on both Mame2014, Mame2016 and Mame cores.
I'll try with an other rom, may be it's a bad rom I have found.
Hey man, thanks so much for testing! I sent you a link with a version that works for me of Mushihime.
anyone else have more input in this small request? It's really a deal breaker for me :fingers-crossed:
Thank you so much and sorry for being so specific, i guess we all have our little quirks
