[Q] One is making a random chiming noise - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone else having this issue or know how to correct it? My phone will chime randomly throughout the day. Sometimes it will do it several times an hour and sometimes maybe once an hour. Any ideas?

I was getting a really annoying notification chime with some apps. The weird thing was I would turn notifications for that app on silent and that weird chime would still happen. I have no idea what I did to fix it but it eventually stopped.

That's odd. Never thought about it being an app. I will try to uninstall them and reinstall and see what happens. Thanks.

[Q] Captivate starts randomly playing a song??

Anyone else had this?? A couple of times a day it just starts playing a song off the SD card... it's always the same song... It's not while getting an email, text, or phone call... Anyone else experienced this? It's a brand new phone that's just rooted and sideloading enabled... Still on stock firmware, 3 days old...
Which song? LOL
Never heard of that, if it keeps up you're within your 30 days, return it.

That's just it, this IS the replacement The old one is sitting on the table for an issue where it always thought the USB was plugged in even when it wasn't. It did the music thing as well, was hoping it was due to the same USB issue but I guess not... It's got to be one of the installed apps... Going to start uninstalling stuff, but most of the apps are various google apps (goggles, etc)
It happened to me the first time I flashed. Even though my alert notification settings were reloaded and set for the same sounds, and those sounds were on the same place on my sd card, I got the alphabetically first mp3 that was on my phone for every alert. I had to go in and re-select each notification tone and everything was fine after that.
My guess is that you restored something with settings that has an alert sound. Obviously, not anything that you mentioned (email, sms) but something through maybe you forgot about?

!!!!!!!! HMMM now this is a possibility... Facebook was set to notify with a tone, but no tone was selected in the menu. I selected one and we'll see if that fixes it

This happened to me once. Funny thing was the mp3 that it started to play was a chapter in the bible calling for repentance. I thought god was calling me out. Turns out it was just the first mp3 in my list.

Hahaha that's amazing
This is a job for "Ghost Hunters."
Ah, this is the thread I need. Yes, this is happening to me as well. What I found is that the music seems to play when switching network connections. For example, if I'm in a poor reception area and the phone switches from 3G to wireless, the music might start playing.
The way to stop the music is to pull down the notification drawer. Weird.
This seemed to happen a lot more when I flashed Cognition 2.3b8 / 3.04.
Sound familiar to anyone else?
Sounds like you guys have the option turned on to notify you when switching towers or whatever that setting is called. I know it's there, just haven't used it on this phone. I use it when I travel so if I change towers it alerts me and I can see if I'm roaming.
Look for this in the settings, and turn that notification off.
Is that an option in 2.2? Couldn't find it, but perhaps I'm missing something. What I am hoping is that it's one of the apps I have installed, like NoBars. I'm turning other notifications off to see if that helps. The odd part is this only happens maybe once a day, so to me it doesn't appear consistent.
Mine is doign the same thing as described by the OP. Seems to be playing the first mp3 located in the "Music" folder I created on my internal 16gb SD-card randomly throughout the day. Not sure if it coincides with the battery full notification or not.
The started happening a couple days ago, before I switched to official froyo, and now it's doing the same thing after the upgrade. I have never rooted or flashed my Cappy, other than from official 2.1 -> official 2.2 yesterday.

[Q] LED Notifications

Just recently got my HTC Vivid and I like the device. Quick question about the notification LED in the upper left corner. It seems to only flash for a few minutes indicating I have received an SMS or email, etc. Should it only flash for a few minutes? I would prefer it continue to flash until I check.
I don't know that it flashing for only 5 or 10 or 15 minutes (however long it is, I haven't timed it) will help me much as I check the phone every 5 minutes to see if it's blinking. For example, at work I often leave my phone on silent (as in not vibrate but completely silent) and rely on LED notification (or on my Captivate, BLN control pro) to tell me I have something waiting. But I may be away from my desk for 30 minutes or an hour. If the notification LED on this device only flashes for a few minutes upon receipt of something new (text, email, missed call, vm, etc.) then I could potentially miss events if I don't turn the screen on to look for notification bar icons.
It seems these apps on the market that are supposed to expand the functionality of the notification LED may not work for HTC devices such as this one.
All of that to ask...is this normal behavior or is there somewhere on the device I can control how long it will blink? If there is I have't found it so someone pointing me to it would be greatly appreciated!
It's normal, mine does it too actually. It's really annoying though, haven't tried any apps for it yet.

Hmm...well, I looked up a couple apps on the Market that I saw suggested elsewhere but it seems the comments/reviews were saying it didn't work on various HTC phones. It would be nice to be able to tell it to not blink as frequently (i.e. longer between blinks) but blink until cleared.
Also had a weird occurrence earlier where I got a text, light was blinking, I read and replied to the text but the light was still blinking. A restart cleared it. Hope this isn't a continual problem; I want the LED to work as I think it is very useful.
SMS pop up in market lets you adjust the blink rate.

That happens to me occasionally. All you need to do is pull down the notification tray and it will stop. At least, that's been working for me.

Can you confirm that this feature in SMS Pop up works on the Vivid? I ask because I tried Lightflow, I think it was, from the Market and all it did was make the LED stay on steady and not blink (or I couldn't get it to blink). Also, can you disable the pop ups using the SMS Pop up app? Sorry, just wondering if you or anyone know from experience...

SMS Popup has the option but I don't think it works for the Vivid. I vaguely remember trying it.

Tested it out and it does work on the vivid. You can change the color, speed and how long it flashes. Yes you can also disable the pop up.
EDIT: After playing with it some more the LED color change doesn't work on the vivid. It is always green.

[Q] I9070 "beep-beep" sound every night at 24.00! How to disable?

Hi,
I have a very strange and ANNOYING problem with my I9070: It has started to beep-beep once @ midnight.
It started after flashing Chucky's New Future ROM. I went back to stock LQB and then flashed SlimJB (With data/factory reset). The beep still occurs.
There's no warning message or anything. The phone is not in charger and it has enough battery left.
Last night I put the phone on silent, but still BEEP-BEEP!
The beep is not quite the same as the low battery beep.
Does anybody have and idea what this could be? Or how I could trace the origin of the beep?
It could be an alarm?
Or some app running in background???
Anyways does it display any message or something when it beeps?

No alarm set at that time.
It doesn't display any message or anything. Strange as f***.
I reflashed the deodexed LQB. Let's see if that helps..
Sounds like an app to me.... reverting to stock should work, if not then you are dealing with black magic
The beep is gone! I don't know what it was but it's fixed now. Reflashing helped I guess.

Most probably someone instaled you some alarm app, and set alarm at 00:00.:laugh::laugh:

Phone call Speaker problem

Recently.. Whenever there is a received phone call.. When I answer it, the loud speaker is activated by it's own.. I don't know why.. It didn't do that before.. And it does that only with received calls.. Simple as it is, but it's really annoying and quite embarrassing.. especially when I'm in public transport.. So, any one knows how to fix that.. Or what is the problem??

It seems that the latest Chrome update causes that glitch, so try to uninstall the updates for it and if it still doesn't work, disable Chrome, restart phone and then use another browser till this is solved another way (another Chrome update that restores functionality).

We have 2 other threads about this issue, looks like is happening with almos everyone, so like our friend above said, deactivate chrome and clear you phone app data and cache, doing this your problem will be solved.
For what it's worth I deleted Chrome using TB and the problem persists, so it might not work for everyone.

You might be right, for instance, I still didn't disable Chrome, and got three calls today, everything was normal.
What I have disabled though, is Socialife and Smart Connect. Some users mentioned that after a phone restart, only the first incoming call goes to external speaker, the others are fine, after the first call.
Only thing we're sure of, this seems to have started happening to most of us at the same time.

Messages sound won't stop?

When I get an email/text message the sound selected doesn't matter which I choose won't stop playing till I click it.
I'm rooted but it didn't matter which rom or stock it still does it. It's annoying when it does it at night while trying to sleep. Or when I'm away from my phone.
Is there a way to stop it/fix it to only play once like every other phone I've ever owned. I've searched on xda and Google with no luck.
Please if anyone knows how to fix this, thanks
