Hello everyone,
I've got a weird issue where I can recovery/fastboot/adb just fine.
But no matter what rom I install on my HTC One it boots up to a certain point (past the HTC logo to a midpoint of google boot up logo, sometimes into the os)
I had GPE 4.3
I tried to install 4.4 with the new radios. (S-Off)
It messed up once, I re-flashed cwm (had twrp) through fast boot - tried GPE 4.3 again .. still rebooting
re-flashed through fast new twrp again (just in case) - did advanced wipe - tried both roms still the same thing.
I've tried adb push and sideload.
Am I overlooking something here ? Any help or point to some reading material would be greatly appreciated.
I've been searching and searching and it seems most in similar situations can adb sideload roms when internal storage is not accessible and be right back up. I m stil stuck in the boot loop.
Currently downloading htc one sense 4.4. if I could get GPE 4.4 to work it'd be great.
Thank You in advance.

Phone is HTC ONE Rogers (Canadian)

are you flashing the required version of TWRP ? TWRP_2.6.3.3_m7
also flashing rom's doesn't update radios .. flashing radios or firmware updates radios

are you doing fastboot erase cache after updating the recovery ?
As you are S-off, run a full RUU to remove any problematic flashes.
Thank you for the replys.
I've tried this fastboot cache erase .. didnt work
ruu is quite hard to find for Rogers HTC one (so far no luck ../ found some old ones links broken ... will keep looking)
I also got a chance to try and flash htc stock sense 5.5 with 4.4 kitkat from here:
(durm it .. can't post outside links yet sorry ..)
Phone still reboots before fully getting to os.
Weirdly enough, if I turn it off during this cycle. It turns back on by itself too.
So far to stop the loop, I have to boot to recovery (TWRP currently) and lock it.
I am guessing I should find a way to S-ON then flash an older rom.
Anything else I could try? :fingers-crossed:
Thank You everyone.

try this TWRP Nandroid Backup
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/m7-twrp-nandroid-backup-cid-roger001-3-22-631-1-zip/
To use – download the latest version of the needed recovery and install it via fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
or
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
Then enter recovery either by holding power and vol down button until bootloader displays and then select recovery or if device is booted into the OS use this adb command:
adb reboot recovery
Now perform a test backup and allow it to complete. Then make a note of the folder in which the backup was created. Now copy the downloaded stock Nandroid into that same folder so that recovery will see the backup and allow you to restore it.

That nandroid backup method did take me the furthest so far.
(did wipe before doing it also)
The phone went into the os ... but only to reboot about 30 seconds later.
On the second reboot .. it said an app is asking for super user permission, before i could select allow or anything,
the phone has been boot looping again.
Weird.

try wiping everything and try again
hi clsA,
thank you for replying.
I did try that, still bootloops. I also further tried:
install teaMseven - sense55 - kk - v2.3.6 with the new stock sense 5.5 rom flashed first.
I forgot to mention earlier, I did flash a radio after initially trying to upgrade to GPE 4.4.
The radio flashed was: RadioUpdate_4T.21.3218.21_10.16.1718.01L.zip
only because it was mentioned i'd get a boot loop going to GPE 4.4 without that update.
Theres no sim in the tray, could this radio update be causing this ? I tried re-downloading this radio for a fresh copy of the file also.
IF the radio is/could be causing this, is there a way to determine which radio to try?
I found: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325564
Out of any further ideas for now

Hello everyone,
After so many days of trying, I finally found a way to fix my phone.
I noticed a lot of requests all over the web of a Rogers RUU. This is how I was able to bring my Rogers HTC back to life and stock.
I found this guide:
http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/return-stock-guide/
(Same website, that has the nandroid backup posted earlier by clsA)
follow ... that guide. Should be good.
I flashed 4.4 GP afterwards (as originally intended) and then OTA'd to 4.4.2. Everything seems to be running perfectly.
Thank You for the nandroid backup and leading me to that website clsA.
Hello.
I was in the process of upgrading my HTC One from 4.2 and successfully unlocked the bootloader. But thereafter my phone just constantly reboots. It shows the HTC splash screen for about 10 seconds and the reboots again.
I am able to go into the fastboot screen (see screen shot). But when I select Recovery, the phone gors to the next screen - displays "Entering Recovery" - and nothing else happens thereafter.
Can anyone please help? Have looked at other such questions and tried but nothing has helped.
Thanks

I'm not sure you did ever flash a custom recovery!
1. Put your phone in fastboot from the bootloader meny. You already did this while rooting, so you got it already!
2. In your "SDK-tools" folder that you used while unlocking the device, put [nameofyourrecovery].img I recommend you to install TWRP 2.6.3.3, as it is the best one for flashing kitkat and lets you do this if you wish I cannot give you a link as I am a new member, but search google for TWRP 2.6.3.3 and you will find it. Make sure it is .img and not .zip!
3. While in fastboot, open a command prompt in the ADB folder.
4. To flash your custom recovery, type
fastboot flash recovery [nameofyourrecovery].img

You have an M7CDWG, twrp is for M7_U & M7_UL models, if i'm not mistaken. Start googling for M7CDWG, it's a completely different phone than the U / UL phones.
and you need to "fastboot erase cache" after flashing recovery

Many thanks. I used your suggestion and rooted as per #9 in this post:

I installed Chinese recovery followed by TWRP recovery. I was abe to Recover and reach TWRP manager 2.6.0.0.
Can you please suggest what next to instal?
If I reboot I still go into reboot loop, but can now reach TWRP manager.
Thanks

Not really, don't know much about your model. You'll need to find a ROM compatible with your device; if it doesnt specifically say it's for your device, then most likely it isn't!!
I think there's a Maximus HD ROM for your version, but i have no idea where.
Did you..
Aside from flashing a recovery and rooting your phone, did you make any other modifications or flash any other partitions?
If no, then wipe Dalvek cache from TWRP. Boot into TWRP and select Wipe. Select advanced. Select Dalvek and Cache. Wipe power down. then power on and see if it will boot.

i had a similar problem last week with a One, a friend bricked his One by flashing "???" Dont know exactly whar he has done.
The phone had boot loops all the time.
my solution was:
- connecting the phone with the usb cable to my pc.
- started the phone into fastboot usb mode
- started cmd at my notebook
- change to the directory which contains adb and fastboot
- execute: fastboot erase cache
- restarted the phone
the phone starts normally into ARHD 40.3
perhaps it works ...
Hey guys,
Terribly sorry if this is a common question, but after two days of searching and being unable to use my phone, I decided to post instead.
I have previously succesfully installed Cyanogen on my HTC One, using CWM. After talking to some family and friends, I decided to try out ARHD instead, as it seemed more fitting to my needs.
I download the zip, flash it from CWM, but I constantly get the error "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed" at end of installation. I am able to continue and install seems succesful, but I can never boot past the inital white screen HTC logo. I searched for info on this, and some reported it might be due to outdated recovery. However, I have tried with CWM 6.0.4.8 and I am currently running 6.0.4.6 Touch, but no luck with either version.
At one point, I also soft-bricked my phone. I were able to flash new recovery, but had to reset my SD card and I also lost all backups. Somehow the phone booted up in Cyanogen after this, and I were able to download a zip for ARHD 81. I tried flashing this, got "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed" and I am now unable to boot my phone again.
I have tried pushing and sideloading, however neither seems to work. Since there's no progress bar for pushing, I had to be patient, but after two hours without result I have to assume it's not working. Sideloading always gets stuck at either 3% or 8%, I can't seem to find a cause for this.
I really hope you guys might be able to work out a fix for this issue with me, as I've reached a dead end.
Unlock
I have also unlocked the phone with HTCDev unlock tool, so that should be fine.

ARHD requires TWRP Recovery
download TWRP 2.6.3.3
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
then flash it
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
now your rom will install without error
Alright. I have tried installing TWRP, but I always came up with errors booting into TWRP. I got it working once, but at that point in time I didn't have the ROM zip on my phone... I'll try it out asap and get back. Thanks.
That did it. Honestly I feel a little silly at this point, but I wish it were mentioned in the main ARHD thread that you needed TWRP, since in the "You Need" section, it simply requires a custom recovery.
I'd never seen the fastboot erase cache command before, so that helped out a lot getting TWRP working
Thank you so much!

I've got a problem with my HTC ONE m7
Tried to install ARHD 81.
So I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and then flashed the ROM.
Rebooted the phone and it stuck to the white HTC loading screen.
Waited for about 20mins. then rebooted the phone. tried flashing the ROM again but no luck there.
So then I did a recovery cache wipe, flashed the recovery, and flashed the ROM again but still stuck.
In desperation I did a wipe... and deleted the actual ROM.zip.
Now I've tried to Sideload the .zip (and original oexed) but get stuck/fail when nearly done.
I've tried to download all the "EU" RUU's and install them but get either error 170 (USB) or error 155 (unknown)
Also tried to download RUU.zip but that didn't work either.
So now i'm stuck! If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great!
Thanks!

Looks like you did not flashed arhd using twrp version 2.6.3.3.
flash twrp 2.6.3.3:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then boot in recovery and adb push arhd:
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
command prompt will be unresponsive for the duration of the push (5-15 min)
then in twrp 2.6.3.3 select "install" and browse to find arhd zip file, select it and swipe to flash then reboot phone.
forget about using a RUU because all RUU available for your phone require S-OFF. (downgrade)
Thank you so very much!
Works brilliantly now!!
Cheers mate! :highfive:
Waiting for device msg after recovery boot
Hi. Please, help me.
So I unlocked my M7 successfully. Then I've tried to make a recovery - I used CWM: recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.8-m7.
But something went wrong. Here's log:
C:\mini-sdk>fastboot boot recovery.img
downloading 'boot.img'... OKAY
booting... OKAY
But nothing happened, just screen with "root menu". I tried volume up and down - nothing. Power button - nothing. When I repeated command I got:
C:\mini-sdk>fastboot boot recovery.img
< waiting for device >
What can I do now? Why it went wrong?
In fact I don't even know what was my Android or Sense version after unlocking.

I rather ask than be sorry, so...
After my newbie recovery flashing I have now TWRP and CWM recoveries. How can I delete them (then I'd like to flash CWM once and proper)?
An second question: I'm not sure how to choose between recovery mode and standard. When I want to get to recovery I do it through fastboot. But is it enough to power down if in recovery and power up for standard mode?
Edit:
When in CW Manager I go to recovery mode I recover in TWRP recovery instead of CWM.

Clockwork ROM Manager. It showed both recoveries - TWRP and CWM. But then I flashed Stock Recovery, then TWRP 2.6.3.3, then ROM, then again... Well, after few hours of searching, trying, learning differences between flash and boot, and adrenaline kicks when my HTC One didn't boot or stuck somewhere I manage to flash ARHD ROM. I'm quite proud of myself. I wonder though how much trash I left on phone after all of this (yeah, we girls like to have everything in order...)
And if I can - few more questions
I noticed that battery drain is much faster - I probably should calibrate it. Is there a best-for-ARHD-app, or any should be ok?
And in some apps, like Goodreads, I have now additional menu bar at the bottom. I'm sure there is some mode for removing it (specially if stock can do that), but I can't find it.

the phone works with partitions. Only one thing can occupy the partition at a time. Whatever you flashed last is all that's their.

Yeah, they probably don't care about updating to Google changes. But it's not the same menu as 3 dot menu on Stock which was easy to hide. It's not really menu for an app, 3 dots button doesn't even work and rest of buttons is for phone navigation. Any ideas how to hide it?
Guys, I apologize in advance if this is wrong section for my question but it seems my searching powers are not as good as they used to be
I need help regarding HTC One M7_ul 801s PN0714000
This phone has problems with google processes being stopped and it has all kind of chinese apps and bloatware and I would like to install an european rom on it...Phone is s-offed, it has supercid and modelid is PN0711****
Now, I managed to find one kitkat zip file and tried to flash it with "fastboot flash zip" command but i keep getting remote:02 data length is too large...I tried renaming it to PN0714IMG.zip, it didn't help as well...
Is there anything else I should do(beside s-off and supercid) to be able to flash any rom on it, and should I rather go with RUU exe file...if so, can someone please point me out to a place where I can download official roms...I noticed that htc1gury is down...
One more thing, bootloader is locked, phone is not rooted and has no custom recovery installed, and I would like to keep it that way if possible...supercid and s-off were done with Java card, if it is an important info at all...
Please, let me know where I'm making a mistake and if you need any additional info....I apologize one more time if this is a wrong thread or if the answer was so obvious and I was so blind to find it
Tnx in advance....
will method 1 works on HTC one M8 ?
and if .. will i receive OTA update ?

today I tried to install a Custom ROM on my M7 for the first time.
So I unlocked my device with htcdev.com. Btw: it wasn't possible to skip step 11 and I'm using Mac.
So my device is currently unlocked with S-ON (as it can be seen in bootloader).
I want to flash custom recovery and my problem is step 7. ("In the Command Prompt type following command: fastboot boot recovery.img (this command might not with newer hboots)").
When I try this command (on Mac: fastboot-mac), my phone freezes with both ClockworkMod Touch [OFFICIAL] and TWRP. My hboot version is 1.61, maybe that's the problem as mentioned. But I don't want to flash a recovery, maybe I can't use that device after doing that.
Any tips for me?
Best regards

"fastboot boot recovery.img" was only possible on hboot 1.44. Flash your recovery using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". Use latest TWRP recovery.
thx, it worked. phew
Hello guys,
im new to the HTC world, mostly familiar with Sony devices, have a friend who has given me their HTC which isn't booting up, it only boots to the start screen then goes blank, she told me the phone was charging and there was a power surge wherever she was and since then the device misbehaves and doesn't boot past the start screen.
how can I flash it back to stock, as from my experience it seems like its a software issue.
Hey Guys,
Really strange situation here with my HTC One:
It is originally from T-Mobile US although I have brought it to Europe now.
Basically, and I think this happened when implementing an OTA update from my rom, I have lost all access to recovery... any recovery
1) I have erased and re flashed recovery from fastboot, tried both TWRP and Clockwork.
2) I have tried different firmware versions, albeit I don't know which combination is most likely to work...
3) cannot access recovery from phone or via fastboot/adb command, cannot factory reset, cannot flash another rom...
4) Even with hboot locking unlocking and then reflashing of Recovery, still no access.
Funnily, the rom was working fine, but I could not upgrade or change it without recovery...
Phone details below, any help you can provide would be most welcome, I'm not a developer but I've been using custom android roms on phones and tablets for some years and have never encountered this.
Many Many thanks!
Phone Details:
- Carrier Unlocked with T-Mobile code
- Bootloader unlocked with HTC Dev method
- Super CID
- S-OFF
- HBOOT 1.54 (was also on 1.57 but have changed as part of trouble shooting)
- Radio 4T.29.3218.08
- OS 6.09.401.5 (have tried a couple of firmware versions)
- Rom MaximusHD 44.0.1 (now wiped due to troubleshooting with locked/unlocked hboot)

So what exactly is the problem, does the flash fail? Or successfully flashing but won't load? Does it bootloop or get stuck on a particular screen?

i guess your problem is you see that written " Entering Recovery " but it wont . right ? if it is the case then you have to lock the bootloader and unlock it again after you unlock it type fastboot erase cache in the fastboot mod and then flash the recovery and then clear cache again ( reboot bootloader maybe and then enter recovery )it will definitely work. Well worked for me Best of Luck

When you enter recovery, be it from reboot or from bootloader, it shows "entering recovery", then goes dark for a second (you'd expect TWRP screen next) and then goes back to "entering recovery" and doesn't move.

Try this one http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "name-of -recovery".img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then select recovery from the bootloader menu. :good:

Tried playguy1 method but with the 2.7 TWRP I was originally on. No luck, after relock/unlock/wipe cache/flash/rewipe Cache I was still stuck in entering recovery.
After that tried reboot/wipe cache/ flash Danny201281's suggested openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7 and erased cache / reboot...
WORKED!!!!! Many thanks to both guys!
Seems related to ROM/Firmware/Radio/TWRP version combination but it worked fine before.
Danny201281: Is there a particular reason you pointed towards openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7 ? Most stable version for HTC One?
Again, great help! Thank you both. :good:

It's not the first time I've come across this problem here on the forums, and in every case that is the version that always works. Unfortunately it doesn't necessarily mean an end to your problem you may find that is the only recovery that will successfully load.
You can try some different recoveries and see what happens but when all else fails use TWRP 2.6.3.3.
