No matter what I do, my G1 stays stuck in Recovery (ClockwordMod v2.5.0.7). I reset everything and nothing. My SD Card is good and formatted correctly. I cant even flash anything. When I take battery out or try to reboot it goes back into Recovery. HELP!!!!
Hopefully you just have a sticky home button, forcing you to always boot to recovery
Try finding the proper flashable zips for radio and bootloader, normally I would say never flash firmware in recovery, but if its not hardware fault this will be your only other options

I have searched other posts and not found my same problem, so excuse me if I repeat another thread.
I have a rooted g1 running superfly v1.2 D/S. I tried to use Rom Manager to flash another ROM, but upon reboot it never flashed, it just stayed at the T-mobile/G1 boot screen.
I then took out the battery, and tried to do a manual reboot to recovery (power+home) and I never got into recovery mode, it just stayed at the G1 screen again.
I then tried fastboot (power+camera) but that took me no where. My only options were to shutdown, go back to hboot, reset data, and one other thing I can't remember.
When I take out the battery and then power back on again, it boots up the superfly ROM and starts up normally.
My Question is how can I get into recovery mode to flash a different ROM, and why doesn't it work through ROM Manager?
Looks like your recovery got erased...you have two options....
1. Setup fastboot on you PC, flash a new recovery from fastboot. this is the best and safe method...
2. flash a recovery from terminal...you might have to do this step multiple times...flash recovery...power off the phone, power on holding home button and see if you have working recovery...if not restart the phone and flash again...
I would go with 1st option.

Most likely your recovery is corrupted. Flashing a recovery from within CM5/CM6 is not working well, so you need to flash a new recovery using fastboot.
When in fastboot mode, you can "control" your phone from your pc using the fastboot command. For this you need to connect your phone to your pc by USB.
Search here for the ADB/Fastboot threat, where you will find further information.

Hi Folks,
I had a CyanogenMod-6.1 for Nexus One :: V6.1.0-RC1 (10/28/2010) installed on my Nexus 1.
Prior to that i was using CM6.0 RC1 stable release. Did an upgrade (with full void and nandroid backup) to try out the new features.
However this afternoon, out of nowhere, my volume buttons and trackball started to malfunction.
i.e to say : I cannot adjust volumes in any part of the apps/phone and i can't select/click stuffs with the Trackball.
Hence, I thought of removing CM6.1. Here's the problem started.
#1. I can't boot into recovery. The phone itself will be stuck at the big "X" screen. After 5mins, it will boot into CM6.1
- Using ROM Manager i tried to reflash Clockwork Mod 2.5.1.0 for a couple of times but i still cannot get into Recovery.
Be it powering up with trackball held down, booting into recovery up via Rom Manager. Surprisingly, volume down was working together with power down was able to go into Bootloader
for me to select "Recovery", however, i still can't access Recovery.
#2. I tried using ./fastboot-mac flash recovery updatedclockwork.img also can't.
#3. I tried using Amon-RA. ./fastboot-mac flash recovery Amon-RA.img also to no avail.
#4. i used ./fastboot-mac update to load a StockFRF91 Froyo also can't get into recovery.
As of now, my phone is stuck continuously in bootloop, cannot access Recovery. I've tried almost 30+ fixes on XDA and other Android Forums but i still can't fix it.
Is there anyway, i can wipe everything inclusive of the "Corrupted Recovery" files and restore back my Nexus One?
Thank you all please save my phone! :'(
Dude I feel your pain. I have the exact same problem. I wonder if it is a CM6 issue?
Hello everyone!
I just got a nexus one with cyanogenmod 7 mod on it. i tried to remove it from my phone, but when i tried it took me to the start up menu with the blue, red, yello, green (x that is formed...) ive tried clearning stoarge, fast boot, and recovery mode. However, each time it has failed to fix it..
Please help me!
What was the process that you try to remove CM7 from your phone?
passimg? flash new rom ect?

idk.. iwatched a youtube video regarding it. and now im stuck at the boot menu with all the choices and when i try to do any tasks it says that the process has failed..
really if you want help you'll have to figure out what you did.
peoples can't help if they don't know what you did or how you got there.
only thing I can recommend is to use fastboot and install recovery image (that's if your bootloader is unlocked).
can you at least turn the phone off even by battery pull method and power it back on, see if there's a "lock" symbol that's unlock when you boot up
Passimg back to stock...
there is that lock that is unlocked..
see i deleted some stuff that was hooked to the phone like blackmarket, and folders with nothing in them.. and then i tried to reboot the phone. i cleared cache, wipe data/factpry reset, apply update from sd card, clear storage.. and it continues sending me to the main screen
Go read the wiki, you can use passimg method to go back to stock or you can fastboot a custom recovry and flash a new rom.
The wiki will have more informations for you.

how owuld i get a new rom onto the phone if im stuck at the boot menu?
Flash a custom recovery such as amon ra or cwm using fastboot.
Put rom file on your sd card
Boot into recovery
Flash the rom
Reboot
Pray

Read the Wiki, "unroot/restore" guide. It's all there.
I apologize in advance if this same issue has been replied to elsewhere. I'm in kind of a unique situation and couldn't find an answer anywhere.
I'm got an N1 with 2.3.6 stock ROM, rooted. Recently I downloaded Titanium Backup PRO and while attempting to integrate dalvik cache to ROM, my phone rebooted into a bootloop. I'm assuming this is a bootloop. I get the colorful splash screen, it freezes for a second of two, then continues on, and on, and on....
Is there a way to get me out of this loopwithout having to wipe all my data, so I can backup all my stuff before I flash a custom ROM?
Everything I see about bootloops, mentions unlocking the bootloader and wiping all your data. I've seen downgrading using PASSIMG and loading stock rom. I'd really just like a simple way to get out of this loop hell and get my phone back up. It's in teh ship now getting it's power button fixed.
Thanks in advance
first thing i do on bootloops is pull battery
if no go pull battery and then pwr on by pressing pwr and trackball at same time--you can then get to recovery and maybe wipe dalvik and cache and reboot
i have never used TB for anything other than backup/restores, so can't help with dalvik integration
You might be able to fix it by wiping your cache from recovery.

Thanks for the advice! I'll give it a try as soon as I get my phone back from being fixed.
Hey guys, I hope you can help. I got my phone back with new power button, Yay! When I try to boot into recovery, teh Nexus X logo comes on for a moment and then I get a white triangle with an orange exclamation point. Do I need to use ADB to try and go to recovery and wipe my cache? I've never installed a recovery image. Do I need to do that or should there be a stock image already on my phone? Am I SOL?
One more thing that might help. I notice that when I go into HBOOT, the phone searching for 4 images from my SD card and can't find them. They go by too fast to write them all down but I think some are PASSIMG, PASSDIAG, etc. Again, do I need to load a recovery like clockworkmod on my phone first and then go into recovery to attempt to wipe my cache?
I get the same passimg all the time--no problem
If your phone came back from repair, you are probably unrooted and hence the triangle. At least that is the way I remember it, but has been two years since I rooted
If that is comfirmed by someone else, you wil need to reroot and install a recovery
A good time, if you haven't, to install android sdk and root/install recovery the right way and have full adb/fastboot features
there other ways I am not familiar with
does the lock show unlocked on the screen, they could have relocked bootloader
the wiki has the instructions, just have to navigate to the htc smartphones and N1
jus to make sure that if u still got root. install su checker app from play store and confirm.
if not root using SUPER ONE CLICK ROOT.
flash recovery (4EXT is good) www.4ext.net
do a backup and then flash the rom u want

Thanks I'll check. I only had teh power button fixed and not by HTC so I doubt they unrooted it. I'm still in a bootloop but I can use superoneclick still, so I'll give that a try.
so what I'm trying to do is wipe my cache without wiping my data. I don't think my bootloader is unlocked. Am I screwed?I'm in a bootloop, so I can 't install anything to the phone. I probably could put a recovery image on the SD card, but if my bootloader is locked, I'm guessing that won't work. I'm rooted. When I go to HBOOT, the phone looks for passim files and doesn't find them, then when I choose recovery I get the white triangle. I've try to flash a recovery image through ADB but I get an error, failed to load image. Again, is that a bootloader issue?
I'm almost at the point of just wiping my data and hoping I can get it all back somehow.

You really know nothing huh. The triangle is the recovery. Press power button and volume up at the same time, it will the show you some options like wipe cache.

Did you miss the "stuck in boot loop" part?
sorry,
meant that the triangle is your stock recovery--
you install recovery thru fastboot not adb
i would still, if you haven't, install android sdk on pc-unlock bootloader (fastboot oem unlock) and fastboot recovery--all in wiki
i think it was mentioned--holding down pwr and tb will get you into fastboot mode--phone connected and usb debugging selected on phone
you'll just have more flexibility with flashing roms etc and getting out of trouble
Bootloop, can get to "firmware update screen", fastboot commands not working
Out of nowhere my phone rebooted and started bootlooping. Eventually it came on but within minutes it did it again. After about an hour of pulling the battery abd trying to boot it, it finally came on. I went to use some app (I cant remember the title) to boot into twrp but it froze and started to bootloop again. I had never granted SU permissions to the app and it hadnt come up. Now that i have my computer I was able to boot into download mode (Firmware update screen) but my fastboot boot twrp.img command is stuck on waiting for device. Im guessing a malicious app caused the bootloop as i granted some app SU permissions only to later realize that it never needed it. All it did was download apk files for pentesting and diagnosis apps. It may be one of those apps however. I was on a custom ROM with an unlocked bootloader and twrp (although i cant seem to boot to it). LG Bridge couldnt find the device. Any help would be appreciated as this is my only device and I'm waiting for a call back for a speeding ticket and don't want to be screwed over :crying:
Since you have twrp and unlocked bootloader you should be able to access twrp still. This happened to me but from wiping internal storage by accident. Make sure you have your custom rom of choice on your sd card or the one you were running. Power off your G4 completely and while its off enter recovery mode manually. You may need to do this a few times for your G4 to enter recovery but it will boot to twrp. I believe its hold power button and volume down button then release for a sec both buttons when you see the lg logo then continue to hold them again. Do the factory reset option and after that it will boot to twrp and flash your rom again. Hope this works.

I tried that and it doesnt take me to twrp or the factory reset screen
Did you try it a few times? I had to do it like 5 times before I got the factory reset option. Maybe you have the dreaded hardware failure bootloop.

Happened to me. Every time I would use the hardware keys to get into TWRP it would go back to the bootloop. Most likely is hardware issue like he said ^^ I contacted LG and they told me to send it. It's on its way back to me

My phone started bootlooping on Saturday so i called T-mobile and i just received my replacement phone today. Now im afraid that they're going to find out that my phone was rooted because when u turn the phone on it says bootloader unlocked and if they even get into recovery mode it will have twrp installed
