If you are running a custom kernel that is likely the cause. I have the same problem with using a controller on my HTC One. The Sprint One is known to have issues with bluetooth. However one developer is working to resolve the issue soon (hopefully).

Bluetooth source is botched from HTC just for the Sprint variant. So on stock kernel you'll be fine but until fixed (which I'm working on) all custom kernels you won't be able to use bluetooth for calls. Streaming works fine.

Apparently HTC will be releasing the source for the new kernel soon.

[Android] Wired Headset Mic Not Working On Calls

I know this was an known issue on the cupcake build, but I was hoping that it would be fixed in eclair. I've just installed 1.6 on my vogue. The microphone on my HTC OEM wired headset seems to work for voice activated calling and searching, but not when I'm in a phone call. the person on the other end can't hear a thing unless I unplug the headset. Is this still a known issue? I can't find an official list anywhere. Can anyone suggest a fix? Could another build work? Or is there some kind of patch? Thanks in advance for any help. I'll be one step closer to being WM free!

Can anybody confirm that they are also seeing this problem, or counter that they are not? What build are you using? Anybody out there?
Oh maybe I need to move this to the new Android forum? OK here goes.

[Q] EspressoEnergyHeroC & Bluetooth

Anyone else have issues getting Bluetooth audio to work on this ROM? My device will pair just fine, but audio is not transmitted. I love the ROM and hate to switch back to a non-Sense one, but I really need the audio.
Lynne
That's an issue with all 2.2 sense roms, along with a broken camera and Mobile Network settings FCing. If you need bluetooth, you can't use sense on 2.2.
That's so sad! I've tried several ROMs over the last few years and some have great features, but I always miss the Sense UI. Currently, I had a number of issues flashing some of the 2.3 ROMs so I've put the rooted Sprint final release on my Hero. I guess I'll stay there for awhile and keep a lookout for new ROMS.

[Q] Bluetooth Car Audio Issues

Hello fellow HTC One members/XDA enthusiasts!
I have owned many phones in the past few years and never had any issues pairing with bluetooth devices until now.
I have a Pioneer X910 in dash head unit in my car and briefly had the audio working (no on screen information) but then it stopped and when I hit play it started playing out of the phones speakers.
It does say that the phone is connected and on the phone itself it sees Pioneer Navi and also in the settings it shows audio enabled.
Now for the life of me I cannot get any music playing over BT in my car. I have yet to try phone calls with it.
BTW I have my phone rooted with OrDroid on it.
Has anyone had this problem or know the solution? I can play music on my BT speaker in my house but not on my Pioneer X910
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
No one is having this issue?
I may have to return this phone if this feature doesn't work...
Also my work email is not being "Pushed" through EAS....really frustrated with such a beautiful phone...
Which ordroid version are you working on?
HTC tweaked some bluetooth things during 1.29.401.5, and every Update some problems disappear...

I'm on OrDroid 3.0.0
I un-paired the device today and re-paired, started to work for a few seconds, shut the screen off, it stopped working and now won't play through the speakers anymore.
BTW I'm using N7 music player

I had a similar issue pairing my old EVO 4G with my Ford Sync system via blue tooth. Don't know if this is related but the issue I had was when Sync tried to download my contacts/address book it would choke. Turned out Sync couldn't handle merged contacts. If your Pioneer is trying to download your contacts try disabling it.
still not working. i am now using trickdroid 5.1.0 and it does the same thing.
very frustrating
anyone else having these issues?

Works fine with my Pioneer AVH 2400BT, even displays the Track Info on the head unit. I did notice the audio breaking up when using Tom Tom and listening to music at the same time.

Revolution HD ROM might be worth a try, maybe it has a more up to date version of Blue Tooth. Is your Pioneer on the latest firmware? If not it might be worth updating it too.

[Q] 8-bitty Controller

Anyone on here used the iCade 8-Bitty Bluetooth controller with any emulators on the HTC One yet? I was able get one cheap but I know how buggy this stuff can be with different phone manufacturers. I really wish Android supported Bluetooth controllers without having to use an app. I play a lot of emulation on my phone and the on screen touch controls just aren't the same. I have read that some custom phone Rom's have capabilities of supporting devices like Wii-motes and PS3 controllers. But it seems neither work on HTC devices with Stock Roms. I hope it works when it finally arrives! :fingers-crossed:
Actually, the Wiimote does work on the Sense rooms with BluezIME. You have to download the separate file as per the instructions in the app, but works fine. It emulates an HID device so I don't believe the joysticks work on a classic controller, but good enough for SNES games. Hope this helps - maybe I should post a separate thread so people know about this method.
Btw I checked BluezIME and with the hid enabler, it has a setting for iCade. Even better!

Wow I will have to check that out. I did a lot of searching online the other night and downloaded an app for Wiimotes but it wouldn't connect to my controller. It came out with some error saying it had known issues with Sense Roms. I also tried the PS3 one and it also had issues. SNES games is exactly what I wanted a controller for. Thanks!
Newer Wiimotes won't connect. To any Rom You'll have to find an older one. Theres literally no way sense could cause a Bluetooth controller to not work.

Granted I have a limited understanding of this, but it seems to me the blue tooth stack is integrated in to Sense (or Touch with for Samsung phones)
My relatively new Wiimote (the new motion plus) and classic works fine in BluezIME. And the wiimote/sixaxis apps both say they usually don't work with sense roms. BluezIME works because it emulates HID mode, natively supported. Fwiw.

I should reword. Newer Wiimotes won't work. Wiimotes with motion plus do. It has something to do with the Bluetooth key in the wiimotes themselves. They won't even work on pc.
I don't see how a bluetooth lib would be changed to the point it breaks functionality(or at all really) but I suppose sense could be an issue.

I believe the old ones I have are from a launch system, so I can't speak for new ones. But they never worked on my Evo 3D (I don't recall if I tried BluezIME, only the Wiimote app. Once Cyanogenmod was ported, they worked without a hitch. So it seems to be some issue with how HTC implements Bluetooth, beyond that I can't say. Oddly, I believe One X users were able to use them, I'm not sure, but if so that's very unusual that it's back to not working. Oh well. BluezIME works fine for my purposes, usb-otg cable is in the mail and I'm hoping that works, if not no big deal
I have an original launch Wii controller and I was able to get it to connect. It took a couple tries it kept asking for a passkey. But eventually it took. So it does work which is great. But when I plugged in the classic controller it got a little crazy. Setting up the button mapping in SuperGNES didn't go very well. It was almost like a button was auto pressing everytime I selected a button to map. I'm a little too tired to figure it out tonight but will probably dig into it a little more tomorrow.

So bad news - I bought a USB-OTG cable. Keyboard, mouse, thumbdrive, all plug and play. Works fine. But PS3 remote and an old off-brand I had lying around do not. Why do they insist on removing gamepad support? It works fine in stock Android - has since, what, ICS? Guess I'll probably jump to MIUI, supposing we see it. Maybe I'll take a stab at the kernel source and see what I can find. Doubt I'm skilled enough for that sort of thing, though.
My iCade 8Bitty controller finally came in today. It works great with the emulators I use. Didn't have to do anything fancy to get it to work, pretty smooth sailing. Simple set up. Looks like it will work with any app/game that says it supports it. :good:
Too lazy to look for the info at 4AM, but yes, Sense is a major issue that breaks Bluetooth functionality. Something in Sense was causing a conflict in the Bluetooth driver, so HTC disabled certain functions in the driver. As a result, Wiimotes, as well as some other devices, won't work. Apparently HTC finally got around to fixing the issue rather than just sweeping it under the rug. Good for them. And us.

Bluetooth to car no track ID

Just got my pixel 5. When connecting to the car via Bluetooth it's not coming up in the car display what track it is and I'm unable to skip to next track using steering wheel controls. Worked perfectly fine on my Mate 20 pro. Any ideas please? It's driving me mad.
Have yours all connected correctly those that are trying it in cars? This is a deal breaker for me so if not a simple fix it's going back.
Same thing happened here, using Spotify. Weirdly it works on my Pixel 2 XL but not on my Pixel 5.
I've reached out to Google to try find out why. Glad it's not just mine at least.
I have just come across this thread before I posted my own. thank God I'm not the only one who is annoyed as I started to think I was going crazy.
This is an absolute deal breaker for me as well. OP what have you done in the meantime? Have you found a workaround? I have even tried downloading 3rd party bluetooth "manager" apps from the play store but had no luck.
Skip, restart, steering wheel functions don't work and options are greyed out on cars infotainment touch screen.
Didn't have this issue on Pixel 2 Android 10.
Yes i found a work around today after reading through many other forums about other phones.
Basically enable developer mode and then change the AVRCP Bluetooth version to 1.3. Turn off Bluetooth then back on again and hopefully yours will work like mine.
I'm not sure what this does or the disadvantage to doing this but I've found connection better this way also. Let me know how you get in.
You can thank android 11 for that.
I think that what is happening here is that some apps haven't yet caught up with changes and advances in the underlying subsystems in Android 11. One that has is VLC. It is working perfectly for me. (I've tried others that didn't so I'm sure this isn't a bug per se)
It's a little disappointing that more effort wasn't put into maintaining backwards compatibility. However, that can often be very difficult, and sometimes impossible, to achieve.
Personally, I don't think that reaching out to Google about this will do any good.

Thank you for this info. I'm not sure it's necessary, but I'd also recommend after changing this setting, reboot your phone and delete and re-pair the phone to your radio.
