Bricked girlfriends phone - HTC Sensation XL

Hi developers,
I don't really know if it's inappropriate or this is the right place to post this post but forgive me if I'm wrong. I'm litterly stuck I think i broke something on my girlfriends phone I literally tried everything in order to get a rom running on this phone again. Here is what I have done
First i relocked bootloader tried install RUU got error 170 Updated usb drivers
> Run Ruu again Error 120 battery to low
> Charged battery w a fastboot script that restarts phone every time Still error 120 battery <30%
> Unlocked bootloader again flashed recovery twrp and i looked in recovery battery >85% :S why error 120 then? > relocked bootloader run RUU error 155
> Tried 5 RUU's for sensation xl i have cid htc_102. all eror 155 occasionally 120 what makes no sense i have full charged battery.
>Tried other method unlock bootloader extracted rom from all RUU's tried to flash through fastboot none worked. Tried flash system.img didn't work also
>Tried flash OTA every containing .img file seperately didn't work.
>Flashed Hboot 6.28 S-OFF Oem locked said already locked but it just said JuopunutBear.
>Relock tried flash RUU again didn't work error 155 occasionly 120
>Flashed hboot 1.28 again and locked still didn't work.
>Unlocked flashed cmw and after that twrp from sanders again wipe data/factoryreset wipe cache wipe dalvik. Tried to flash extracted roms form RUU's but couldn't mount sdcard also couldn't mount usb in recovery pc tells me to format disk didn't do that sanders posted that it will brick your phone..
>Edited volstab file 33 to 34 didn't work back to 33 didn't work couldn't mount sd card. Formated SD card through recovery didn't work tried editing Volstab again didn't work.
>Flashed sanders sdcardfix.zip tried the one for 1.28 then 1.25 both didn't work
>Tried rickey310711 tool with fix sd card option didn't work
Now I'm literally stuck relocked bootloader again trying to get the stock rom through ruu but keep getting error 155 occasionly error 120 and sd card won't mount. I tried all the europe and even a UK rom I live in the Netherlands but they all give the same error.
I just want to get the stock HTC rom again but I think I'm stuck here forever Can anybody help me pls?

And also i just managed to fix the SD card issue haven't found this fix anywhere around so I thought I share. By trail and error i noticed that this problem accures when you select factory reset in the bootloader menu.To fix this i also found out by trail and error i flashed all the containing .img and the hboot.nb0 files in a OTA_RUNNYMEDE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_2.31.401.2-1.05.401.4_R2_release_258338d2wzjl71eps0s2e6.zip file so one of the containing .img files fixes these problems. I'm now able to flash custom roms again luckely pfffeeewh, but still no RUU.

How did you flash them? I'm having issues with mine and in stuck without an os at the moment. What adb commands did you use and what order?

Where are you exactly stuck?
Can you acces or flash a Recovery?
If in recovery do you have acces to SD card?
I think you asking which commands i used to flash the containments of the OTA update that fix the SD card error right?
If that's the case I just used
Fastboot flash hboot (nameofHboot.nb0)
Fasboot flash image (nameofhboot.img)
Fastboot flash system (nameofsystem.img)
and so on i don't precisely know which file does fix the SD card in the recovery but one of them does, cause fixing this SD card error with Sanders sdcard.fix didn't work also changing hboot to 1.25 didn't work and changing the volstab file to 33 also didn't work for me.

try s-off, then transfer a rom to internal sdcard/, wipe all partitions besides internel sdcard, then flash a rom, if that doesnt work try
booting into bootloader
then
fastboot getvar cid

check the cid no.
search for an RUU file that matches your device and CID no.
then flash it!

[Q] HTC Incredible S stuck in limbo :(

Well here's the story, someone gave me their phone to root (i'm the official rooter in my city ) and i accidently skipped over a major step, infact a few of them.
1: I unlocked the phone and flashed clockwork touch recovery
2: Did not backup the original non rooted rom
3: Did not S-off the phone
4: Flashed Android Revolution HD
Now No rom is working, IT gets stuck on the white HTC logo. At least tried 2-3 of them. Cyanogen and ARHD to start with. Tried a few RUU but those aren't going through too. Tried extracting rom.zip from the RUU and flashing manually but they dont work.
Attached is an image with the details of the Firmware on the phone and radio atm
I checked the HTC CID and it's 044 ... Any sort of help would be appreciated.
I feel bad for your city where did you get cwm touch recovery?
Have you flashed the boot.img in fastboot?
If flashing the boot doesn't work. Couldn't you just attempt to s-off through fast boot and flash the RUU etc?
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
I feel sorry for them too, now that i screwed up, for the first time though
Well my hboot version is 2.01 and it wasn't supported in revolutionary.io 's s-off method. Didnt think it would work any other way. I dont know how to downgrade it to 1.13.
I got my clockwork recovery from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680 this post. If only i can find the original rom/RUU which i can flash and just reset it to the original factory rom. :| i tried 3-4 of the RUU in the filefactory folder that's listed in the incredible s shipped rom section but none of them work.
Can i change the CID in teh android_info text file in the rom.zip of the RUU ? would that work ? apparently the zip is claimed to be corrupt when i try adding the same file back.

I'll ask again, have you flashed the boot.img in fastboot? The link you provided has no touch recovery in the OP or am I required to read all 29 pages?
If you're using cwm from the OP, you should update. Here's the newest version I know of http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
To your question about flashing an ruu with a modified android_info on an s-on device: no.
You can find what ruu you need by entering the command
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
the number returned corresponds to the ruu that you should be looking for.
As you are an experienced rooter you probably already know to wipe cache and usually data when you flash a new Rom.
@vizzy how would you gain s-off in fastboot mode?

Because the phone is s-on, the way you need to flash a custom rom is as follows:
Install zip from sdcard in cwm, then extract the boot.img file from the zip file and flash it in fastboot I.e
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
these steps are included in the newbs guide sticky
THANKS !!!

Again, thanks !!!!

in serious need of help for the phone!!!!

Hi guys,
I'm new to the android world. I was playing around with my mum's HTC(was on ICS) and tried to root it, but im not sure if its rooted now, but i have ****ed the phone up hardcore
The problem is phone stuck on HTC Logo and won't boot. It's possible to get it in bootloader and it looks like this: I have unlocked it HTCdev.com
*UNLOCKED*
S-ON
HBoot: 1.28.0004
RADIO-3831.15.00.20_M
eMMC-boot
I dont get a connection to the PC, but after first time plug-in it installed the drivers.
So now my question is how can I get an new Ruu on this phone. Would it be fixed by me installing the ICS RUU.exe file?
I can't seem to find it i do have the code from the HTCdev, but i do not have ANY clue what to do..... Please help me out
To get the correct drivers that are needed for the phone you either should install htc sync then uninistall it again or you should go download my tool, it has an installer for drivers for windows, just not windows 8.
About the code from htcdev, that part you have used correctly. That is a bin file you used to get bootloader *UNLOCKED* and since its saying unlocked you should be good to go.
After unlocking the bootloader you can go to bootloader and flash a custom recovery. To do that you can simple install my runnymede aio tool and press either twrp or cwm recovery button. It will pop up with a box that says "Press Ok when in bootloader" and since you are already in bootloader you can just skip that part and press ok.
after it has flashed recovery it will try to boot to the system just go to bootloader again
When you are in bootloader you can go into recovery.
After that you can flash any custom rom but if you want to stay on a custom rom i will recommed you to flash to specific roms first, found in the "guide" in my Runnymede AIO Tool. And then after that flash any rom for our phone. I know it sounds a little stupid and is is also not cofirmed giving any diffrence but it looks like the htc sensation xl is much more hard to brick if these two roms have been flashed.
If you just want to go back to stock , then flash a custom rom and boot it up.
Then use the function in my tool from fully booted to s-off just remeber to use the one that says your hboot version.
A note here: Hboot version 1.25 = 6.25 and 1.28 = 6.28
after that is done boot the phone up normally and run a ruu.exe file and you will end up in a stock locked rom after that.
Thanks Anders3408 i have followed your instructions and have downloaded your tool(which works like wonders).
Now i am facing another problem. My current rom is a custom one (1.56.401.2), but it tells me there are no hard disk spaces and i keep getting Contacts Storage stopped message (even after i press send report to HTC or even if i declined it....)
I have a similar problem....i'm S-ON UNLOACKED....hboot 1.28.0006 ....i can only have fastboot connection...i even tryed an RUU (RUU_RUNNYMEDE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_2.31.401.2_Radio_20.70.30.0832U_3831.16.00.16_M_release_258303_signed) but still bootloop! :/ I'm driving crazy!!!
ps: tried to flash a custom recovery but doesn't work!!! (during flash i was on s-on because i couldn't flash hboot s-off )...The phone has no root.
It you have EUROPE CID then flash this
http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.ph...odel=Runnymede
If link doesnt work then here the same
http://hotfile.com/dl/145704399/e91...822.10.10.12_M_release_222101_signed.exe.html
Install that Europe Version of GingerBread.
When finish let it boot and when setup is finish update via OTA to ICS..
If this still doesn´t work then S-off with this. ----->
http://unlimited.io/runnymede.htm
You will change your hboot version. Use that 4445 version in download. Its unsecure hboot.
Follow the ADB steps carefully and when done reboot into bootloader again. Flash custom recovery like TWRP
Wipe cache,dalvik,system
Then reboot into bootloader again
FastbootADB and run the RUU from PC

[SOLVED] I think I have a serious problem..

SOLVED - check post 35
..and I don't know how to solve it. So, I would really need and appreciate your help!
Device:
m7ul s-off, currently unlocked, running cm 10.1 nightly
The problem:
I experienced reboots and fc's on various aosp roms as pa, cm and pac. cm is running best so far, on pa i lost data connection from time to time.
I tryed everything. I flashed sense roms, I flashed stock, I did a nandroid restore of stock ruu, relocked my bootloader, flashed stock recovery and everything possible to fix my device.
If I was lucky, it booted, but it shut down after a few seconds and kept bootlooping.
I can't get it back to stock and that really worries me. I did everything as explained but nothing worked.
Now to what I did with my device:
unlocked, flashed cwm, perm root
flashed cm, but coming from the nexus4 i was looking forward for pa rom
flashed a pa dev build, which was made for m7tmo. this might be the point where my troubles started. build was a bit buggy so
flashed trickdroid 6.0.0, flashed some tweaks and had major issues as no status bar and frequent reboots
went back to cm and from then on I just flashed pa or cm roms (gave pac a try but had even more issues)
everything else is already explained (the problem).
If there is any further information I have to provide you, just tell me. I don't really know much about logcat, but I could upload a log if that would help. All I see is hundreds of errors with QC-DS-LIB, LocSvc, kickstart and others..
I spent days on trying to fix my phone. I'm also afraid of bricking it with all the **** I try... Maybe someone here can help me find a solution. Please
Do you have the appropriate radio for your ROM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245615
That might be the root of all evil...
I did flash 1.29.401.12 WWE OTA - 4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01L while running the stable pa rom. currently I'm on 4A.13.3221.27_10.31.1131.05L (I guess stock?)
edit: it's from RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe
I am not sure but all the stuff you did it is likely that something got messed up.
Which recovery do you use? Please flash that again with
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (*recovery.img = the exact name of the recovery as it is in your platform-tools folder) followed by
fastboot erase cache
Use only the USB cable that came with the One, and don't use a USB 3.0 under Windows 8. Maybe try a different computer as well.
Flash a Sense ROM that is close to stock, and a matching radio based.
Before flashing a ROM.zip, wipe cache/factory reset and dalvik cache within the recovery first.
Hope you get it all sorted

Did exactly what you said, phone got stuck on boot (with beatsaudio) for over 10 mins (this actually happened every time i tried flashing arhd). rebooted, was able to do a first setup after 3 mins. downloaded catlog, havent had the errors mentioned above so far. running smooth for now. will post again if some crazy **** happens.
Thanks!
And again, after installing some apps I got reboots. The only difference to aosp is, that I have to do a reboot by holding the home button, hence this rom gets stuck on the bootlogo. The aosp roms rebootet after 15 secs.

Download the RUU for your device. boot to fastboot and relock bootloader, then install ruu.exe from PC. That will fix you up. Nandroid restore of stock ruu is different. The ruu will replace all partitions.. U have something wrong somewhere that roms dont touch i bet. The ruu should do it. If s-off and supercid you dont even need your exact ruu. Any ruu will do.

I have actually tried that. I also think it does not depend on the rom I use. Since I can't remember wether I relocked my bootloader before trying the ruu.exe I will try again.

Just do the ruu again, it should fix you up. Boot.img is no big deal, it gets flashed with all roms. If ruu doesnt work please let us know if it successfully installed or not. If it will be like first time you powered it on (minus the s-off, that will stay) if it installed correctly. It will install correct radio and boot.img.
Have you changed your MID? i think you should just installl the latest ruu for your CID and MID.
Also have you installed different hboot? like the modded one or the eng hboot? If so have you flashed the original back? The RUU will install the correct hboot.
Sorry top say but If completed ruu doesnt fix it, its broke. Nothing software can do.

edit: omg just checked md5sum of the ruu I used earlier... there should be a tool automatically checking every md5sum. no wonder it bootlooped..
Stuck on bootscreen after installing the ruu.exe
no fastboot usb, no custom recovery
what can i do now?

pc said it finished successfully
turned it off to not kill the battery
waited for over 10 minutes.
currently talking to htc support usa since the german support is asleep..

If you wish you can unlock again, install custom recovery and then side load a rom. I'm afraid HTC will just have you try the ruu again. Or tell you it's broke.
How long did the ruu install take? Did it restart phone a few times? If it was me, I'd unlock again and install a custom rom. If that doesn't work I don't know what else to try..tried everything. Most likely Something wrong with the hardware

I don't think so, my pc does not recognize my phone because usb debugging is not enabled.. any solution?
in stock recovery it says MounT SDCARD failed, so I will try fixing that by performing a few factory resets lol

When in fastboot it doesn't matter if debugging is enabled. It must say fastboot USB . If not select fastboot and press power
What hboot do you have now? Since you r s off I don't know if boot loader needs to be unlocked. If you can get to fastboot and be seen by pc,download twrp recovery and put it in your adb folder. Then "fastboot flash recovery filename.img" then u can side load.

Well I've been through this (ruu>stuck on boot>unlock>flash cwm>sideload rom) twice.
The problems are still reboots from time to time and app shut downs or fcs. It happens with every rom i tryed. on sense roms its stuck on bootscreen until i reboot with power button, on aosp it just reboots within 15 secs
I'll have to admit, I did the ruu on win8 with usb 3.0
When does it reboot? Sometimes upon installing apps, accessing play store, on landscape mode, on unlocking sim. Much to often to just live with it..
just sideloaded cm10.1, it's alive..

was the RUU signed or decrypted? have you checked MD5 value before flashing?
Try this one
MD5: 9ad4111ce86981e3dffcce6d9ee80551

Before i relock i can load a cwm recovery.
In the recovery i try everything: cache, data, system wipe - factory reset (failed and reload everytime) - try via sideload to install a custom rom (loading the file to device but cannot install...)
After that i read more about the device and i want back to clean stock......but now the only working is fastboot mode to managed the device via PC.
One thing i wont to try was the install a nandroid backup via OTG cable....but this works only in a recovery - right?
It would be nice to unlock the bootloader again so that i came back to recovery...but how?
The fastboot command " fastboot oem unlock" wont work...command error???!!!!!

Better to use TWRP 2.6.3.3 not CWM, some roms can't be flashed correctly with CWM.

normal, only fastboot from bootloader, and ADB from recovery or from booted OS.

THis might be an option if you find a anandroid backup for your version.

right, if you use a twrp nandroid, restore it using twrp. If you use a CWM nandroid, restore using CWM.

fastboot oem unlock can't be used on your phone version, you must use HTCdev.com if you want to unlock the bootloader.
Have you finally checked MD5 value of your ruu?
Many many thanks for your detailed reply!!!!
The MD5 of the first RUU was okay.
It still does not work. Wrong imaging ....
Meanwhile, I have downloaded another: "RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.11.31.05_release_310878_signed".
I try to install but during the prozess comes a message: wrong bootloader........ grrrrrr
Now i will dowload your recommendation on post two today or tomorrow and give that a try....i hope this RUU work...

1.28.401.7 is a downgrade and you can't downgrade with S-ON, you must use a ruu same or higher version installed on your phone (1.29.401.10 +)
So,
i downloaded your recommendation:
"RUU M7 UL K44 SENSE55 MR HTC Europe 4.19.401.9 R Radio 4A.23.3263.28 10.38r.1157.04L Release 353069 Signed 2-1"
and try to install but i get imaging error.
The phone shows the silver htc logo and aborted during pushing the files to the device with this imaging error message.....
MD5 matched!
Is this also the wrong RUU??
Somehow I can not get to the target Very disappointing ...
Any ideas?
I get the unlock code from htcdev.com.
Better work with unlocked device (recovery, sideload, nandroid backup option via OTG cable)???
I have solved the problem:
That's what I did:
Unlock the bootloader via htcdev.com.
Get the cwm recovery back .
Flash the current cwm recovery via fastboot (my recovery was a little bit outdated).
Flash via sideload cm11 Rom.
Device booting until the bootanimation :victory:
Back to recovery do all the wipe stuff.
And yes i have fully working device now
Great!
But unfortunately I have not a RUU to get back to the factory defaults ....
But there are still a few RUU or nandroid backups that I can try ...

You have the newest software version their is no RUU
only older RUU and you need s-off to use them
If you want your phone back to stock just boot to recovery and do a factory reset

Hi Cls,,,,i did reset factory default many times, but its still restarting automatically, and the software still that newest one (reset factory doesnt work),
so i just want the original stock RUU for HTC one, cuz i tried many RUUs and faced Error:155
desciprtion:
ERROR [155~159]: IMAGE ERROR
One of these error messages will appear when you use the incorrect RUU to update and the image file size is larger than the Flash ROM size. In this case, download the correct RUU version and try again

Their is no 6.xx.401.x RUU
You need to unlock the bootloader / Flash custom Recovery / and Flash a Stock Rom.
Unlock the bootloader at HTCDEV
then from fastboot USB
Flash recovery TWRP 2.6.3.3
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then sideload this Rom to your phone
http://www.androidrevolution.org/downloader/download.php?file=One_5.11.401.10_odexed.zip
TWRP / Advanced / ADB Sideload - swipe to sideload
From PC adb / fastboot folder
you use
adb sideload name-of-rom.zip
make sure the rom is in the same folder as adb / fastboot

hi Cls,,, i did all the steps and passed successfully, since the adb sideload command sent the stock ROM 100% and its loaded properly,
but the software still 6.09.401.x version and its still restarting despite i clear and wipe the cash, the only difference its now tempered and unlocked :crying: ,,,any other solution for this restarting issue??
May be a hardware problem
