I'm sure others have had problems with thier sd cards. I have just had this online chat with a sony agent in the uk and I thought I'd share the joke!
You have now been connected to an agent.
Hayley: Hi Arif, thank you for contacting Sony Xperia UK Chat Support. My name is Hayley, please could I take your full name and email address?
Arif: arif munshi
Arif:
Hayley: Thank you for providing me with this information, Please could you confirm which model of phone you have and which network it is on?
Arif: i am with t mobile and its the 4g version
Hayley: Thank you, how can I help you today?
Arif: my 32 gb sd card worked fine for the first 2 weeks of having my phone
Arif: but now is not being recognised by the phone
Arif: but can be read by all other devices i have
Hayley: Ok, I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with the handset. What class is the memory card you are using?
Arif: sandisk class 10
Hayley: If the card is class 10 this may be the problem as the phone has only been tested with up to class 4 so higher ones can cause unpredictable results. You can try formatting the memory card then using it again in the phone, but it may not work correctly.
Arif: i have tried that
Arif: and what sort of rubbish are you talking about- being test upto class 4
Arif: sony would test all classes of sd card
Hayley: The highest we have tested as compatible is 4 so if you are using one higher than this then we can't guarantee it would work. I would suggest using a card of class 4 or lower as this should work in the phone.
Arif: show me on your website where it says that
Arif: otherwise i want my money back
Arif: it says cards upto 32gb on the website nothing about what class
Arif: i am going to save this converstion and post it on xda developers
Arif: they are all going to have a good laugh
Arif: so are you going to show me where it says class 4 certified
Arif: ?????????????
Hayley: This isn't listed on our website, but it is going to be added in future. We have not listed this as we do not manufacture the SD cards. If you have bought a memory card that is not compatible with your phone you would need to speak with your retailer regarding a refund.
Arif: no! the memory card did work perfectly for the first 2 weeks though
Arif: how do you explain that
Arif: you have no technical knowlege from the looks of it
Hayley: Using an incompatible memory card will cause unpredictable results so there isn't one specific symptom you will see if you use too high a class of card in it.
Arif: and my nintendo 3ds reads it perfectly
Arif: my pc reads it fine
Arif: my old htc phone reads it fine
Arif: you are going to get poor feedback from me love
Hayley: The phones will have different specifications to other consoles and devices, as I have advised this isn't confirmd as compatible so we can't guarantee this will work with your phone.
Arif: so why wasn't i advised of this before buying the phone
Arif: i would like my money back
Arif: so who do i need to talk to
Arif: i paid for a high end device
Arif: not some incompatible device
Hayley: If you would like your money back for the SD vcard you have purchased you would need to speak with your retailer about this, compatible memory cards are provided with the phones if you get one, but if customers do choose to buy another then we advise them to use up to class 4.
Arif: i want my money back for the phone, stupid person
Hayley: Where did you buy the phone from?
Arif: t mobile
Hayley: You would need to request a refund from tmobile if you are not happy with the handset.
Arif: ok thats fine
Hayley: I hope the information I have given answers your query Arif. Is there anything else I can help you with?
Arif: stop making crap phones please
Arif: incompatible my "£$£$£%
Hayley: If you have no further Sony Xperia related queries, I will be ending this session.
Arif: thanks bye
Hayley: No problem. Thanks for using Sony Xperia Chat Support today. Goodbye.
Can't say I have mate. Been using a 32gb class 10 SanDisk Ultra for 6 weeks. Flawlessly so far. Bad luck with that.

i have my sandisk 32 class 10 in for over a month and its perfectly fine im not the right person to be talking about the compatibility of an sd card but im pretty sure class has nothing to do with it lol.
I think the sd card is faulty I have a usb memory stick that refuses to be read by my asus laptop but its perfectly fine with my acer and has no issue with hp at work. my asus has no problem with any other usb memory stick so im sure it has something to do with the usb and not the laptop who knows

Hmm, rather than a laugh it makes me question your mental age, what a disrespectful way of talking to another person. Poor manners for no reason, that person is none to blame, if your device is faulty get a replacement, what is the point of talking like that? There is much better ways of handling the situation than that.
I have a SanDisk Mobile Ultra 32gb class 6 and I haven't had any problems so far.
Did you try a different one?

I met the same problem with my new bought sandisk 16g card. I can't believe that Xperia Z isn't able to support Class 10, after returned the sandisk card, I bought a sony card, it's also Class 10. Up to now, the sony card works normally with my Xperia Z. Therefore, it can be seen that it's not the phone's problem, it's sandisk's problem. You can google it, you'll find the same problem appears on Samsung, HTC or another phones, which installed a SanDisk card. I recommend you using a sony card instead of sandisk.
SanDisk cards are plagued with problems. 32gb and, 64gb.
Mine broke down too, lost EVERYTHING.
Here's a thread from the s3 forum. I ordered a new one, Samsung 64gb. Shouldn't be a problem.
In my opinion you were fairly rude with her but it's valid either way. There's no chance they'd only test with Class 10. Go with Samsung cards, they're apparently more reliable, according to my tech buddies.
Seen this earlier. So think Sony are in the clear. You have been rude to the wrong person I'm afraid. The San Disk is the culprit as earlier advised in this thread... http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/samsung-galaxy-s3-fault-is-caused-by-sandisk-memory-cards-50010684/
Even Samsung's Galaxy's are in the same boat using them.

Just want to add my sandisk 32g after using it since I bought the Z has just gone to the land of dead. Nothing reads it, it is a piece of crap. I will never buy Sandisk again, it's not the money it's everything I lost on it.
I don't think sandisk is the only issue here. I know there have been issues with sandisk sd cards but there maybe another issue with the XZ and class 10 cards.
While most of us maybe using class 10 cards with no issues, if you google it, seems there are people reporting memory card card corruptions on the XZ with other cards as well.
I too just recently lost a ADATA 32gb class 10. Went totally corrupt and pc/cameras/other phones cant read the card. Was brand new when I used it, was good for about a week. A warning to others out there to make sure you back up your photos/data to the cloud just in case...
Seems people on sonymobile site are also reporting that they've been to told to not use cards class 10.
I have been using sandisk 64gb class 10 and I dont have any problems with it. I was using this about 2 months.
How old are you kid?
Please show respect if you are talking to the others.

so I am now part of this club. too bad I lost everything. I didnt back-up.
poor sandisk, so this class 10 cant be used on android device? i tought the complain is only for sony device, but looks like there are many others manufacture that cant use this sd card. i read on here : http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Mobile...d-unexpectedly-removed-in-Android/td-p/292793

Hi foks,
I've just read , that when you get your X1 and register it. You will get a free SDHC 4GB card with the movie Hancoc in it.
Is this true?? I don't know if the phone has been released.
I hear from many ppl that it has been released... so.....
My dad is now in Dubai, and planning to get one for me.
There's one store (NetOnNet) here in Sweden which states that X1 will be shipped with a 4GB memory card. So I guess it's true for some stores. I've also seen X1 bundled with the movie Hancock.
The X1 always come with an 4gb micro SDHC card. The first x thousands come with Hancock on the memmory card.. don't remember how many they said.
However, not all stores have versions with Hancock on. I didn't get Hancock on mine but there is a trailer for the new Bond movie on all phones.

I know, i've been there once.
It's better than Vegas!!!
I asked this question to SE reps on a live chat today.
All comes with 4GB memory card. First ones also comes with additional 1GB card with Hancock on it
So there should not be a video playback bug like the Kaiser??
I just received a card by mail. It is 4gb with Hancock movie and couple of trailers. Quality is amazing. Movie is only ~350MB. Some soft to auto play it is also on the card. Neat thing.
Of course I have allready 8GB so I figured I will copy this movie to my card. But, of course it is protected so it will not work on the other card (some .mo extension). Trailers are also protected, yep, this is something I do not get.
For me it is a fail. I would use this 4GB card if I wouldn not have to wait two weeks for it.
BTW: T-mobile NL.
My X1 didn't come with any SD card.
Do we need to register on the website with IMEI number in order to get the SD card?
Edit: I bought my X1 from handtec.
I was one of the first to get the X1 from my local Vodafone store and asked about any extras or SD cards but they said there isn't one.
Can any-one actually confirm if there is one given when you register phone - PLEASE
Mine's from the Philippines, sony ericsson sim free yep I got a transcend 4G microSD I dunno what SDHC stands for. no hancock only uh quantum of solace trailer on the phone memory.

mine is simfree as well. But i didn't get any SD
Mine is from UK with o2. I got a 4gb sdhc card with the bond trailers.
That is sooooo uncool My X1 also didn't come with an microSD card. How can we get them
ive not seen anything about anyone with a vfuk x1 having one..
My one came with a 4GB microSD with a Bond trailer as well.
It seems that the simlock free one's don't come with a microSD card...
Purchased mine in Germany, no card, only bond trailer on main memory
Mine's unlocked. Came with a 4 gig card. No movie though although not 100% on that one cards at work....
I got mine unlocked, came with a 4gb card and a Bond trailer.
german generic simfree version - no card.
I have a 32GB microsdhc card and when I format it with the Nexus it says there is a damaged sd card. When I put it in my computer, the nexus formatted the card to 2GBs and when I format it with my computer its back to 32GB.
This is a real 32GB card, I purchased it at Bestbuy and it worked perfectly in my Nokia.
Does the Nexus support this size card????
Do I have to update anything?? I'm running CM 5.8 or something like that. Should I update to CM6 then try it?
Please!! This really sucks!!
try to download a software to test it see if there's any hidden problems.
I heard that HD Tune can test SD cards (sounds like it is for hard disks =D)

hope it helps.
Good luck

I want to know this too, their website has no mention of it and the clerk laughed at me when i asked if they had any. (he didn't know 32gb cards existed yet)
yea seriously... far as i know they only have 16gig but hey if they are i know where im going when i get paid
32gb cards have been out for a while, they have just been really expensive until recently.
i know then been out for awhile but no store really carried them or had any, you can get a 16gig sd micro for 40 so im guess you get the 32 for 80 which is still high in my book, but still cool to get one...
as said before not really been seen or had many in stock for stores, maybe we see more soon
I actually picked up one from the verizon vendors for really cheap...They run about $200 retail but I got it for a half off.
I got it working when I updated to CM6. I was probably on a older version or something. Not sure but it worked. If you want to pick up a 32GB card, ebay is cheap, I wouldn't pick up anything under $100 since its probably fake.
Thanks.
I just saw an amazing tutorial from xda-developers how to upgrade HTC HD7's memory from 8GB to 32GB. I have SGS I9000 8GB version. THe only one I can get from Finland where I am studying now. I cannot help to think can we do it with our SGS? Does anyone know what kind of memory is used by SGS? Thanks in advance!
Dude all you need to do is buy a MicroSD card and insert into the slot.
Thank you for replying! I was aware of that. However from Finland I can only get 16G microSD. Andwhen I begin to fill flacs into the card. It's getting full easily. So I was wondering if I could upgrade the internel SD card as well?

Even though I am awaiting answer as well for this (if the internal SD is changeable) . Are you sure for example ebay doesnt deliver to Finland ?
And for real ? Only 16GB in a country like Finland?
Ebay not good for memory cards. Too many fakes. Find a reputable website and order. I use mymemory uk, I don't know if they ship international but I can't believe for a second that 16GB is the maximum micro sdhc card you can get online in Finland. I use a 16GB one, the 32GB still a little expensive for me.

Even if it were changeable, would you want to risk voiding the warranty on your phone? You'd be better off paying a bounty to hack the USB port to be able to accept a USB memory stick..
BIG THANKS to ALL are giving me good advices!

At least I couldn't find them on the major supermarket. But I did check from a online eletronic store. They do have them with good 120+€ post cost extra 7€ xD
So for Christmas my wife got me a 64GB memory card. I had sent her links to places where it was on sale (amazon/radio shack) but she found one cheaper on eBay... I had not told her eBay was full of fakes. So thats where she got one from. It was a fake (4GB card formatted to look like it was 64GB). We filed a complaint w/ eBay after the seller was unresponsive and got our money back. But now all of the sales for the holiday are over :crying:
Does anybody know a good place to get a 64GB microSD card? Amazon has them for $60 but they where around $40 for Christmas.
I know its been said before but be careful of eBay and microSD cards. I knew better but she didnt. Make sure others know as well!

Radio Shack has them on sale here and there I got mine for $40 from them.

I recommend going with Samsung as your sd card...too many people are complaining about the SanDisk cards.

Darn it, I got mine last week for $59. Can't complain, it works great for less than $1/gigabyte.
I bought my
sandisk ultra 64gb from amazon like 2 months ago.
I think i paid 48$ (with shipping).
The card is excellent, no problems at all
The sandisk work fine for a few months then you'll get an error or too then it won't even be recognized in your phone or your computer. Luckily I made a backup onto my computer just before it crapped out. sandisk == never again
I've used sandisk for over 10 year not a single problem.
It's funny how so many people are having issues with SanDisk. Could it be possible that our devices are to blame as SanDisk is a big company that specializes in memory? :-$ I can't base this on anything but logic. Regardless, I have a SanDisk 32gb and I have yet to have an issue. :-\ in fact I have multiple 32 gig cards in different devices.

I'm curious to see how it goes with anyone who uses linux to format the sdcards. I would test, but I'm on vacation, and while I have my laptop, I do NOT have the sdcard (came the day after I left home for a month).
If anyone can test, it'd be great.
The free 128gb card, right?
I can't get mine to mount at all.
The phone says it's either empty or unformatted, asks to format it, tries, and fails. I don't have an SDXC reader to try to format it with the computer.
I just did a chat session with T-mobile, and they referred me to LG's support line...
I'm having a load of other issues as well that I'll put in a separate thread. I'm really not happy with this phone.
Have you tried contacting SanDisk for warranty exchange directly? It might be smoother going through manufacturer than retailers/partners. Maybe they will accept promotion status page as proof of purchase.

Wow mine works fine didn't have to format or anything. SanDisk is usually very reliable. I would most definitely be pissed and would contact both T-Mobile and LG. Especially since it took so long to get I really feel for ya.

I highly doubt that LG and T-Mobile are sending us fake products. Have SanDisk to forward your message to brand protection team. It could be OEM product that LG pulled from their warehouse.
Just like external HDD. Serial number on the case and the drive usually don't match. If you crack open and submit RMA on the drive alone, they won't see it as authentic.
I won't jump to the conclusion that we got fakes just yet.

if you go to your promotion web page where you submitted your form, there is FAQ
Where can I reach out to if I have any questions regarding this promotion?
You can send your inquiry via email to [email protected] or call
1-800-793-8896.
by the way, both of my 128GB SD card they gave me are superb.
Do not call 1-800-793-8896 as that's just LG's regular support line, they have no clue about the promo. The promo team is a contractor and not employed by LG. LG support will just put you on hold and then just tell you to email the promo team.
Email [email protected] and politely explain the issue. My promo battery arrived dented (since they threw it into a pouch with the charger that pressed into it during shipping), so I sent them a picture and an explanation and they shipped me another one for free, didn't even ask for the dented one back. Just be polite, it goes a long way.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you however the cards being used by you are OEM grade cards and do not look like Retail grade cards. As of now I would request you to try formatting the cards using SD Formatter and if that does not help you may get the cards replaced from the place of purchase as the process of replacement may be faster with the original seller or you can reply to this email and we will replace the cards with Retail Ultra 128 GB Micro SD cards. Please refer to the link mentioned below to download SD Formatter.
Got an RMA setup for both cards from SanDisk.

Doesn't SanDisk supply codes with their products that let you know if it's genuine or not? I bought a 16GB ultra 10 not so long back and it's been flawless, I'm sure it came with a little piece of paper with a genuine code thing on it? Or was that Spigen? I forget, lol.
