lol, don't waste your time.....there's no coeds to be had for this, its predominantly locked to O2 or Vodafone, so cannot be Sim Unlocked. I've tried many times since this phone was released.
thanks. looks like no choice but to pay for it. are those paid codes via supplying your imei in the internet reliable?

Nope. You can't trust people now a days, don't risk it and waste your time.
i wouldn't even think about unlocking it. These days most people don't need to unlock them, last person i spoke to about unlocking my salsa didn't even know what it was let alone have software for them....
Internet unlocks will rip you off. I did it once on an old Nokia 5000, got the code...same as the free sites, didn't work. Couldn't get a refund either.....my advice is, want the phone sim unlocked, buy a phone on the network your on!
Problem is the fone is from a relative from abroad. Its lock to vodafone. The only carrier here in the philippines are globe, sun and smart. Thats why i need to unlock the fone. Its was recently given to me.

Heya all, well i just menage to finally buy a new g1 off ebay been trying for awhile now but finally got one for the right price but the thing is.. being new its locked to t-mobile now from what i have found there are only two way's of unlocking both are via unlock codes and from what I've read i can get it free from t-mobile but i also believe you have to of been a t-mobile customer for 2 months plus or something any you guys know if this is true?
The other option is to get one of these websites that give you unlock codes has anyone used these could you if possible tell me what sites are genuine and safe to use?
Another thing is there any other way's of unlocking the phone?? that i have missed? i haven't actually got it yet but its being posted as we speak..
Hope this is the right place to post this and cheers for you input ;D

T-mobile will give it free if your a longstanding customer. If you want to buy it, buy it from ebay. There is another thread in this section (actually more like 20, one of which has a link)
Yea they wont give you the code unless you have been a customer for 90 days or more. The site I used was http://www.unlock-tmobileg1.com it took about 10 hours for the code to arrive, they have detailed instructions on how to register an ATT APN so you can do the initial google setup too. I think they offer codes in 2 hours now, but either way its a good site and I think its just over 20 bucks, like 22 or 23. I looked on ebay but it didn't have a good feel to it, for me anyway.
edit: One great thing about using it on att is that they wont know its a smartphone because its not in there system so you can use the $15/month dumb phone unlimited data plan and it works great, I have been using it for about 3 months now, only downside is att and tmobile use different 3G bands so it is impossible to get 3G with att.
Only use unlock sites who people here say they have used. Don't be fooled by some of them which are *very* cheap (as in, a quater or the cost of most), these will normally tell you *how* to unlock your phone (call t-mobile or buy a code, but they dont give you the code).
I bought my code of eBay, that way you can look at there feed back and you know that the testimonies on their flashy website aren't fake.
Cool cheers guys thought that'd be the case phone still hasn't arrived yet so until then...

Some unlocks can be done for free using a custom ROM flash. The operating system is only setup to bar off any non-TMobile sims, so do a flash, and bang, that SIM restriction should be gone.
I have never heard of any rom unlocking the phone, the carrier lock is much deeper in the phone, hence why you dont lose your unlock status when you switch rom's. I did a ton of searching before I unlocked my G1 and never saw anything like what you speak of, I had already rooted and flashed 3 or 4 different roms when my phone was still locked and it never made a difference, so could you please provide a link to this type of rom? And just so you know, in your sig you list phone OS's but what you are talking about is rom's as the only OS for the G1 is Android.

I don't think that's right either. I've heard quite a few people say that after rooting and flashing a non-tmo ROM their SIM was still locked...

He might be confused with something else because of all the smartphones I have had I've never heard a rom to unlock your sim/carrier. I wish there was though but if you think about it you would never be able to change your rom because you would lose the unlock status.
How do I check to see if my Vivid is unlocked?
I know I can use a non AT&T card (it's unlocked)but I want to use the keypad method where you enter a string of numbers and the network lock on off screen shows.
If your an att customer you can call care and request an unlock code. If not search online for an unlock site there are many.

This may or may not work. ive been on the phone with att 4 times in the past week for periods of up to 2 hours and i kept getting told that "the system shows that your device doesnt currently have a unlock code available. And, the system shows there is no date for when that unlock code will be available."
i thought this was att giving me the run around...over and over again... but apparently, after taking to three managers, and getting 2 call backs from dropped calls, theyre serious..
I am ofcourse talking about the sim unlock and not the bootloader unlock.
Carriers Put Delays on Unlock Codes
When I had my HD2 on T-Mobile, their stated policy was to require a minimum of 90 days on the account before they would provide an unlock code. After that time, I was able to get one from T-Mobile with no problem. AT&T probably has a similar policy. You might could get it early if you wanted to use the phone overseas with a local SIM.

thats the exact reason i gave them. I am going overseas and i need it unlocked. i have found that it is possible to get it sim unlocked though. just have to pay between 25-45 dollars at any site offering it. just be careful which site you want, as alot of them look.. less than dependable.
If someone successfully unlocked their Vivid from one of these website, please post the URL. Thank you.
cellunlocker.net I'm in the Army and i spoke to att and they told me the same thing about that they cant give me the unlock code or some BS. google'd and found this site and in like 20 minutes i got the email with the code. But you have to have a non att sim card to do it. thankfully my cousin has tmobile and i used his sim card.

Can't you just ask them to unlock it for you? Usually almost all network operators unlock devices when you have a proper reason. I myself use the excuse of having to travel on another country for them to unlock it for me.

Always. There's usually a fee but it is still usually cheaper to pay to have it unlocked than to pay extortionate roaming fees in Europe/wherever.
Tried 4 online sites but no one that i have tried has the unlock codes. I am on 3 UK and have to wait 30 days for them to do it. Not much use when I am going to San Francisco very soon.

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini locked to Claro El Salvador, I'd like to buy an unlock code (since there is no fully working way to unlock it without one right now) but I don't know which one is the best and most trusted site to buy one, I had only purchased unlock codes for Blackberry through eBay but there is no eBay seller for this Claro company, any help please? thank you!!
EDIT: I found this one: http://www.cellunlocker.net/ but I don't know if it's safe to enter the IMEI code just to check if there's an unlock code avaibility for this model, any idea? thanks!
Any help? at least please tell me if this site cellunlocker is trustworthy, thanks!!

I might be biased (owning the site and all) but:
http://www.unlocksamsungonline.com
is 100% trustable I personally vouch for that .
We have been serving customers since 2006 and are the biggest remote unlocks by cable in the world, and we do also offer unlock by IMEI.
best regards,

cellunlocker.net worked excellent!! thanks!!

From my experience i can tell you that unlockcode4u.com is quite good web to unlock phones, i had some issues with my network provider trying to get the code for free from them (Vodafone UK) but finally i paid for unlocking code on this website and its great, quick, easy and my phone was unlocked within an hour form placing the order,:good:
why to buy an code if you cand download a official firmware for you region? That's how i did with my s3 mini gt-i8200 it was blocked on orange RO, and download official firmware Cosmote RO and it worked
Cell unlocker is a great website
yeah I went through a lot of trouble with a company named the unlock team. Didn't give me my money and wouldn't unlock my phone. Finally I found cell unlocker and it was great. Price various depending on what kind of phone you have. I have iPhone 5C and this cost me around 50$. Although it took a little longer than it said it would (by 1 hour) it worked perfect. They are reliable and trust worthy.
i used awalunlock twice. its also good and service is also fast.

Send me priavate message
I'd advise you not to deal with them at all. I have a post asking the same because I got ripped off three times and now they also have my visa numbers. The last one was advertised right here at my post. code-unlock-shop and its been 4 days and i'm still waiting.
I can also vouch for cellunlocker.net and say that I had excellent experience with them
Got all my samsung phones from Telus unlocked from them.
Good luck!
Cellunlocker.net worked for me, I havent tried any others. I only get one phone per year or two... lol
i'll give this a try
I'll give cellunlocker a try too then.
Anyone else know more information?
I have an experience with codes2unlock.com to unlock my samsung galaxy s5 and it works great, i found whole process is quite simple and easy.

First find out what your carriers settings are, like the APN settings. See if it's gsm cdma.. You can try going in the phones settings and checking them out open the dialing pad and *#*#4636#*#* and look around.
hi, thank you for your response, that menu was the first thing i tried lol, i put an o2 sim in and i got it to show the H symbol next to the signal bars which still had a cross on them, it also auto installed the apn settings other than that, no change

You cannot unlock the SIM card with a code from anywhere online it doesn't work that way because number one the SIM card in these phones is only to allow the phone to get LTE internet speeds number two the MEID is how the phone gets service not just the SIM card cause you can remove the SIM card and the entire phone will still work just without LTE number three you can't insert another carriers SIM card and then have the phone ask you to enter the unlock code because the phone will never ask for that code when you put another SIM in there it will just say invalid SIM card and nothing else and number four, the phone is unlocked via uicc and has to be done on the carriers side not some unlocking websites code....

It could be a legitimate unlocking site that he used and expected it to work with his 510 (which they probably don't say that they don't support it), in which case he can probably convince them to refund his money.
Or it could be a scam site, in which case he'll have to do a charge-back or something to get his money back.
Also, he could take it to his current carrier but given the evidence of previous users, they won't unlock and program it for their network because the likelihood of them being able to is slim to none.
