[Q] Security 'Feature' - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Set the pattern lock on an Xperia Z, works fine. Restart phone, now not pattern locked but PIN locked. Not a problem as PIN is known but it completely forgets the pattern, which needs to be set up again. Which it then forgets when restarted. Repeat.
Anyone else notice this 'feature' and is there a fix ?

I did, it just repeats the same 'feature'. It doesn't remember that a pattern lock was set (or the pattern) and decides to switch to PIN lock.
I've been through that cycle 4 times.
How many times did you set it before it remembered ?

[Q] Screen lock to start - how to enable/disable?

A few weeks/months back I did some setting in my Nexus 6 that sets the screen unlock pattern whenever the phone boots.
i.e. when the phone boots, it asks you to enter you screen unlock pattern in order to boot.
Now I want to disable that so that I don't have to unlock my screen in order to boot. But I am not able to find that setting... I don't remember where it was. I looked under Security...Smart Lock...etc... can't find it. Where is that setting?
I haven't rooted or unlocked the phone. So it must be some default setting (which I am not able to find now).
In security- Change Screen Lock to None or Swipe.. This'll release your problem..
Then check in pattern lock again. There is the option available, which you mentioned..

Lock Screen Fingerprint Unlock

I have my lock screen set for fingerprint. If the device is shutdown or restarted, the lockscreen asks for a fingerprint. After that if the power button is pressed to shut off and lock the screen, the next time it is turned on the lockscreen asks for just a swipe. It wont ask for a fingerpring again until the system is restarted again. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions?
You have to go into settings and set the power button to lock device. Or you can change the settings to lock device after a certain period of time.
It's under Lockscreen/Secure Lock Settings
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
You can also set it to not lock if it's connected to a certain device, like a Bluetooth.
This is a god sent because it's always been a pain to unlock the phone in a car after it's gone to sleep and you are streaming music from it.
Thanks! That was driving me crazy. I knew it was there, but couldn't find it.
I know what you mean! It was confusing the heck out of me in the beginning but then caught on.
How do one wish to switch back to just a simple swipe after choosing fingerprint unlock
The SWIPE option is now greyed out ??

Problem with fingerprint scanner

Lately the fingerprint scanner won't unlock the phone. There's no vibration indicating wrong fingerprint, it just does nothing. When I unlock the phone using PIN it works fine opening top notification panel or scrolling through photos. When I go to settings and fingerprints manager it recognizes my fingerprints without a problem. Even when I lock the phone it works well for couple of times but after a while it stops working again.
Have anyone had an issue like that?
I already switched the phone off and on again but it changed nothong.
Any advice besides resetting to factory settings?
Thanks for any help
Hey, I have the same problem with my Honor 7. Did you find any solution?

Are u using something like double tap to lock.
If so, disable it.
Otherwise, go to backup and reset, and reset only settings.

Note 9 sudden shutdown after rebooting

I have never encountered this problem before, until today.
My note 9 has been shutting down on its own moments after I turn it on, even when I'm not doing anything with it.
I need help. Thank you.
Does it reach the lock screen at all? If yes, do you happen to have fingerprint lock enabled? Try disabling it and see what happens.
I could get through the lock screen, but then the phone would turn off afterwards.
P/s: I disabled the fingerprint lock and remove all of the added fingerprints, and everything seems to work again. However, when I try to setup a different method for lock screen, the phone would turn off after I draw my pattern.

So I actually just factory reset the phone, and the problem would occur again if I use anything related to fingerprint sensor. I tried rubbing alcohol, but that didn't work. Maybe I'll try putting the phone into rice.
P/s: The crashing issus upon trying to changing security method happens again after factory reset.

Change Screen Lock Type

So I have set a PIN and also recorded biometric data (Fingerprints and Face). The
PIN seems to be the default method. Is there any way to make either my fingerprint
or face recognition the default (w/PIN as backup)? It's not obvious
TIA
it will always want your pin at bootup. after that biometrics should take over if they're stil turned on.

Does not behave like that. For example if I turn screen off using a double tap, then when I touch the screen to turn it on it still wants the PIN after I swipe up???? It says "Enter your PIN as required by the security policy" ??
