Hey fellow LG P990 users,
I've one question and I couldn't find it on the forums,
which rom is better ?
CM9 from hei called Nova HD.
CM9 form Owain.
I'm using the Nova HD mod 58 now for a week and I like it,
But it seems that Owain is updating it much more and so his community seems to be a bit bigger,
maybe some one can tell me the difference between the 2 roms ?
Nova HD Rom based on Owain's Rom, Nova HD can be customize a lot with Aroma Installer, but atm owain updates his rom very often, so if you want an ever up to date rom, use Owain's, if you want more customization, and Nova HD is working for you, stay at Nova HD.

Normally just flashing the new rom should work, ´cause ye come from a cm9-based rom.
But making a full-wipe is also useful sometimes. The phone runs a lil faster ( at least it seems so to me =D) when an OS is installed completely new.
Thanks for the help I've completely whiped my phone and installed owains MOD and it's great,
sadly I haven't reached my 10 posts yet but I want to thank him greatly.
For me, owain's, rom is the best.
I've been using owain rom since #1 and i must say it's the best ics rom i've tried so far, hands down.

Nova HD Caught
Hi friends.
I Installed Nova HD in my O2x p990, but after a 5 or 10 minutes the system caught. I can't do anything and i need to remove the battery to reboot.
Anyone knows what is it?
Sorry about my english
Tks
For what i understand your phone freezes, that could be due to overheating or numerous other things. Try latest harsh kernel #2205 and see if it works for you.

Yes man. I did sometimes the same sequence of instalation.
The Harsh Kernel and HP Kernel Doesn't work to me. The Harsh causes a broken in instalation (a android toy with a sickle in screen) and HP extreme freezes device when i connect the usb cable. I flashed the supernova Kernel and this working for me. But SN has problem with root access.
Now i'm with Nova HD and SN RC4 (ril 725), but some apps that needs root access doesn't work.
Try to full wipe, that's factory reset and dalvik (advanced- wipe dalvik), then flash owain #73 rom, then wipe dalvik again, then reboot.
That should work flawless. If you like you can install any kernel later by wiping cache and dalvik, flashing the kernel, then dalvik again and reboot. I advise for the harsh kernel ou the new nova kernel.
Good luck,
Rz

I installed Original Rom again. I did have problems with this rom. The work of the devman is nice but i use my cellphone for work and i can´t use a rom with some problems..
I don´t undestand how to install Owain's rom because the link just have an update. Can you tell me how to do this?
Many tks
Regards
I'm actually from Portugal
Well to install it you go to owain's thread, on the first page and first post are the links for download (i recomend opto).
After dowbloading the latest kang, boot into recovery, wipe to factory reset, advanced-wipe dalvik cache, then install zip from external sd card, search for it and install, then reboot and you're done
I recomend using titanium backup so u can have a backup of your apps

Hi everybody
in my case Nova HD looks much stable than Owain mod. i'm using 2 differents optimus 2x and there is same situation
dont be angry on me guys, each optimus2x has own whim
i use the new nova version. and i like it. its a great rom/mod.
I am rooting the phone for the first time so I want to know which is the best available ICS rom which has least bugs. I need basic things to work such as wifi and bluetooth. I want all the steps to complete the procedure. It will be really helpful if any one could give me some links. I could have searched but I have no idea which one is the best so please help me.
Hello
What tutorial you used to root your phone? i didin't saw a one updated , to have all the links

I have not yet started I need links to begin the process right from the scratch.
All ICS roms have bugs. Look in Dev thread for CM9 or AOKP.
Spend at least 4 hours reading how to prepare and install, 2 hours reading what to do when unexpected things happen during/after flash, and 1 hour being sorry wasting your and others time on such impossible question usually followed by biased opinions.
Don't flash ICS. wait for stable JB rom

In terms of which ROM is best, unfortunately there is no answer.
Each rom is different (obviously) so people prefer different roms that fit their different needs.
I'd personally recommend something like SlimICS, TiramiSLIM, or DarkyROM Black Edition.
Slim ICS is a cut down version, no extravagant features.
TiramiSLIM has an easy installation process (if already rooted) and has lots of customization options.
DarkyROM is one of my favourites, but I just upgraded to Jellybean.
You want to know all the steps to installation?
One of the best guides I've found is for the Team 3xtr3me ICS333 rom.
Link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25722239#post25722239
It goes through installation of a rooted Gingerbead (2.3) rom via odin, which is the part most ROM installation guides assume you have already done.
From there you should be able to follow almost any ROM's guide for installation.
Hope this helped.
Don't flash another thing than Cyanogenmod nightlies.
Maybe AOKP. But prefer cyanogenmod. Accelerometer still broken on AOKP. No point of it. (Please don't comment temple runners.)
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
As kernel, flash latest devil kernel. Don't think another choice. Every kernel is nice. Semaphore is as nice as decil. But devil has more customization choices.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
When you're a bit into the flashing thing you coult try RemICS, which has best design for me and is very smoothe and fast as well.
CYANOGENMOD 9 !!! The best of all no bug no problem very fast and I use it for months with devil3.99 kernel
Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592131
Hmm... to lazy to find out how to root, what's the difference (if significant) between roms, what to do when that pesky bootloop happen,.... so just start yet another thread for the bragging hordes?
"...... rom is smooth, bugfree, snapping fast, will make you breakfast? , has looongest bat. life,... "
Advice you to spend your time more wisely and enjoy the vast amount of knowledge already posted here at your disposal.
I prefer a plain vanilla ice cream
sandwich with maple syrup, the rum is an acquired taste, but captain Morgan is great for starters.
Using GT-I9000 my sent Tapatalk 2 from.
I use DarkKnight 5.5 with DevilKernel and I found it very stable and smooth. For me it is the best ICS ROM for SGS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510940&highlight=dark+knight
You can try AOKP. I've been using it since a month and I can say that it's quite smooth and well developed. Try it and u won't regret.
My personal favourite. Slim ICS
But look at this benchmark thread and decide for yourself.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554621
SlimIcs. Smooth and stable. But an advice , I personally hate lightning launcher so as soon as I get it I uninstall it and installed N.o.v.a. launcher

I have the same opinion. I currently use CM9 latest nightlies. Best kernels are Devil and Semaphore. I prefer CM9 + Devil kernel. But you could really wait for stable JB...
I've tried several ICS roms and, for me, the better one is Remics. Version 1.3 is already out, but I'm in 1.2 and I don't feel any need of upgrading it!
Goodmorning everybody.
I've followed the Costum-ROMs' development with many devices in XDA. I don't have a Galaxy S Advance, but i'm here for my girlfriend's one.
I updated it to stock Jelly Bean, than flashed last Cocore, and finally maked all suggested wipes. Moreover I deodexed it to install Ink effect MOD.
Sadly the phone is really really laggy. Apps take more then 15 seconds to open, and on messages names are not loaded.
Now I'm asking the best combination you can suggest.
1) What's the fastest ROM? I don't need any heavy Samsung app as Touchwitz, then I'd prefer an AOSP or CM based ROM. But the phone is not mine; my girlfriend don't care about wifi-direct or wifi-teathering, but she wants to take videos.
Then, is there an Original Android based ROM with working video-recording?
However I'm in your hands, just tell my the smoothest one.
2) Which kernel should i use? And if Cocore, which version?
3) Are there some other useful tweaks?
Very much thanks to everybody will answer
CM10/10.1
Smoothness CM10
Functionalities CM10.1
Btw, isn't it against the rules posting a "Best-ROM" thread?

Hi,
Can someone please recommend a stable ROM for the I8190N? It needs to be light, customisable, stable and preferably 4.2.2 or above....
I would really appreciate it if replies address the following:
Please only suggest a ROM if you have had random reboots on another ROM, then flashed a ROM and the random reboots stop....
Already flashed and have had issues with:
CyanogenMod 11.0 (maclaw and AOKP)
CyanogenMod 10.2 (maclaw and OliverG)
Light by somin
Chameleon OS 0.8
Anything "golden"
A deodexed stock ROM and custom kernel would be fine.....
Thanks!!

I meant to say in my OP that Dmodv6 was excellent - started flashing others because I'm a serial flasher (have four android devices) and wanted a newer android version.... if you kitkat Dmod, I'll consider you a living god!!
I've got stock AMJ2 from sammobile and plan to deodex, root and de-bloat.
The stock rooted XXAMJ3 - isn't for the 8190N - would I expect issues if i flashed it? Ignore me, i know it would NOT be a good idea!
Thanks!!
stock rom is the best.

try one of these, they are fast, stable, debloated and smooth Virginity V2 or somin.n ROM
if you flash somin ROM, search baseband xxam... and kernel xxam... on the forum and flash it.
Maclaw's cm10.2 no longer suffers from random reboots and is completely stable (in my experience anyway).

Well, that depends on which governor you used and how many apps which sync every minute you had.
Luckily on custom roms you can change the governor.
You can change the behaviour or disable background processes as well. (I recommend the application ''Greenify'' for that).
If I didn't convince you now I'm afraid I have to tell you that there are no stable custom roms except stock based..
Hey all,
since my last Thread was closes due to some rule that didn´t even apply i am trying again:
I am looking for some advice for a very stable rom, TW, AOSP, AOKP, CM doesn´t matter,, i am just looking for some really stable rom advice.
NO i am not asking for the BEST or MOST stable ROM
I am just looking for some reccomendations for a really stable rom, since it is IMPOSSIBLE to try out ALL the roms out there and do some long time stability checking
Thanks in advance

GALAXY NOTE N7000 // KITKAT 4.4.2 // OMNI
As stated i am not asking for the best or most stable rom
i just want a recommendation of a very stable rom
i hope all the mods and users too will understand that it is impossible to to judge a roms stability by reading their threads, as much as it is impossible to try out all the roms just to find a very stable one...
This would take hundrets of hours reading and stability testing - or as i hope a 1 line response of a user that has the exp. and knowledge of a real stable rom
So plz show some common sense and just point me in the right direction for some very stable rom
Greetings
frea
edit:
I am not looking for any special features, i dont care for the android version or distribution - i just need it to run as a surveilance camera and some sms forwarding, so the only feature the ROM i am looking for is STABILITY
Sorry, but this is extremely lazy. It took all other users also hours of reading and flashing to find out which ROM suits them best.
As you don't even specify your special usecase (=usage pattern), which Rom you're currently running, it will turn into a "most stable = best ROM" thread.
Good luck anyway and a happy new year.
Edit SMS and surveillance camera > why don't you try out a stock Samsung ROM?

If you are calling this lazy you maybe havent read my requirements...
When i get a new phone i invest days of time to find the ROM that suits me best and i participated in dev. thread since this board was founded, i just cant get the Data of my old acount.
It can´t be prophibited to just ask for a very stable ROM when the alternative is wasting countless hours just to find a ROM that doesn´t need to feature anything but stability.
Nobody with a little bit of common sense would link this to the forum rule for Best ROM Threads...
No offense
but i find it interesting, that you take the time to post 2 answers instead of pointing me to a dev thread of a ROM that meets my requirements...
it is also interesting how every community is getting worse at growing user numbers - just think of this board in the beginning...

would suggest to try 4.3 first. try, experience and then move on with final 4.4 once released.
