Xperia Z in the bathroom - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can the Xperia Z last in the bathroom for like 20 minutes every day? Not under the shower, just sitting in the bathtub. Can it last all the moisture produced by a hot shower for 20 minutes every day?

No. Don't expose the phone to excessive moisture (steam) or hot water unless you want to damage it. Does nobody read the manual any more

I've used mine in the shower a couple of times. Keep the ports closed and it's all good.
Sony can't market the phone the way it does without expecting the users to try it out.
Having said that, I probably wouldn't put it in the washing machine.

LOL. Who cares about the marketing? If steam gets in the ports and wets the water ingress tape, then your warranty is gone. Period. It doesn't matter what the marketing materials say about water protection; steam is a whole different matter.
Plus, why do people feel the need to take their phone into the shower? You can't be away from it for 10 whole minutes?

LOL. I know what you mean! Just think how long a repair takes though. No phone for at least 14 days! Water resistance is not an excuse to ignore the manual and abuse the phone
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2

To be honest I used my LG optimus 2x to play music while having a shower during 2 years approx and I never had any problem. If this phone is supposed to be water resistant I think I'll be even safer. Obviously don't go mad and put it in a sauna.

BTW the thoughest phone i know is the nokia 6070 and i have a story for it also
So a year ago a friend of mine had a nokia 6070 and he was desperate to destroy it to get a new phone. So everyday at school he tried to get rid of it:
He threw it to the walls, ground etc but still no succes. We actually played football with it(no succes)
And my friend still have it and its fully functional(altough it's very scratched)
This is what I call a brick-phone

Turn off all the lights in your house make it as dark as possible. Then ring your phone and look for the flash when it lights up. If it doesn't work go to another room and try again. This is always my last resort strategy before messing up the house looking for it. It's normally in my pants or shirt pocket.

Here's a new scenario. How much battery did it have when you lost it x hours ago? May be dead and that means you'll have to find it the old fashioned way.

You're on a development forum. There's so many people here that carry 2 phones. I'm one of them since my iPhone 5 is a work phone. I figured it wasn't your phone though that's why I said "she" knows to put a case on it.

A few weeks ago i was getting changed after football and forgot my phone was in my jeans, so after picking them up it fell out and dropped to the concrete. Those few seconds where time stops and you dread looking at it, then reaching down in what feels like slow motion...
Turns out it landed on the corner and just a slight unnoticeable scratch on the edge. Phew.

My Nexus 5 is warped!

So I just noticed with my phone on a flat table...my phone is warped, like two diagonal corners touch the table and the opposite diagonal corners are raised. I tried it on multiple level tables and even looking at it by my eyeballs without the case on it looks warped like a piece of hot metal!
I don't know how or when it happened...the screen isn't cracked or anything, nothing looks or acts strange even.
Check you phone...is it warped?
Are you sure it's not the camera?

I'm not sure I understand....laying it flat on the table, screen side down, the entire physical phone itself is warped
Placed my facing downwards, and there's no warping. Have you been leaving your phone exposed to the sun maybe?
That sucks to hear. I just tried it with mines and its perfectly flat.

How waterproof is the GWR?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering how waterproof the GWR actually is. What kind of stuff have you done with it? Shower? Swim? Dive?
I try to not wet it at all! I have splashed it a few times and got concerned so was wondering if I'm being a bit pedantic...
PS, I know its ip67...
I been on the swimming Pool for a few times and its still working. I can say that its waterproof from experience. Notice that when i was swimming the water would cause virtual touches to the watch.
Enviado do meu A0001 através de Tapatalk
I have forgotten to remove it in the shower a heap of times. You remember when it gives you a buzz as the screen gets wet. I also went snorkeling in the ocean once with it on. Went about 1 metre down before realising. Watch is still good. I would not be too worried about splashes or rain to be honest.

What about the standard leather band? Can it survive a shower?
I think that the standard leather band will quite quickly start looking a bit ratty. Mine looked old after about a month so I replaced it.

Any tips about a nice replacement band?
I got that one in the photos off ebay. Rubber with clasp. Very cheap and the quality is what you would expect from the price. I'm not unhappy with it though. I now want a nice stainless steel band to go with the polished watch.

I take it into my shower everyday and i've had no problems but one thing, your watch will turn on and go to app menu and things like that, but a little dry after shower will make it fine. no damage whatsoever received.

You can also use an app like showear to quickly lock your screen when you take it to shower with. That way it prevents the water from opening up random apps
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I try in shower, pool, sauna, lake and sea. Still works I use lock screen or "theater mode"
Went to cancun with mine on. Went swimming in the pool and ocean. Had one scare one night at the pool where the screen turned off but came back on when I powered it back up
I'm also very careful not to splash my smartwatch, but I have a friend who take shower with his G watch every day for more than 1 year, and no problem at all so far.

You don't need an app like showear; clicking the power button twice puts the watch in theater mode, so the only way to wake the device up is by pushing the button, i.e. the water won't do anything to the screen at all.
