I'm building a new ROM for my new Xperia Z right now mainly for even better audio quality. However, it'll take a while as I plan to try rebuilding audio driver library file for lower latency. Right now I'm on vacation staying at my parents' house so I decided to build this sound mod for Samsung WM8994 devices instead since I have good chance to reunite with all of them right now.
FidelityXAudio is based from PureXAudio for Xperia Z/ZL made by ZeroInfinity. I asked him for permission to derive his works with mine for all-in-one sound mod I plan to release for various devices that support Alsa driver. For this first release, it'll support Nexus S, Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Tab 10.1 and all variants. Installing this mod will give you the following features below.
Features:
Rooted & Busyboxed - This will replace current root and Busybox with latest SuperSu and Busybox. Since most root access for Xperia Z I tested are so unreliable getting bootloop after mounting system rw, I'll force better ones in this package to avoid that problem.
exFAT support - If you're using Android JellyBean ROM but still not have exFAT support yet, this may help you getting one. It works for Xperia Z/ZL but haven't tested for others yet.
init.d support - This isn't cheap recovery flash init.d script. It'll execute init.d script with root access from hardware boot script level so it works far better than conventional ones for locked bootloader running stock kernel.
Xperia Fidelity script - It's ultimate sound quality mod script I've been developing for years. Not only get you better sound reproduction but also make your system smoother as well.
PureXAudio engine - As FidelityXAudio is based on PureXAudio mod, most PureXAudio features are availble except audio effects and specific sound card stuff. I may consider adding them back later though.
Low latency tweaks - My tweaks inside PureXAudio for lower latency Alsa configuration. Not sure how much of it works though as real measured hardware latency won't change without modifying driver.
Mastering 64-bit quantization - The most accurate 64-bit floating point quantization in Android. I usually end it with 32-bit integer mode but this sounds better for crazy upsampling level.
DSD128 audio processing at 5.6MHz - This will give you high resolution audio simulation. The real sampling rate will still be 44.1KHz but with 128x upsampling for audio processing before downmixing is really something.
Fidelity nVIDIA audio configuration - Optimized for more direct bitstream with lower latency. Only for Tegra devices though.
Removed DSPManager for more solid audio performance - This mod breaks DSPManager in CM ROM so no point in keeping it and you probably won't need it anyway after hearing sound with this mod.
Download: PureXAudio v1
You can't flash this on other devices as it can break audio with incompatible sound card configuration. I tested on my Nexus S, Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Tab 10.1 and they're all working fine. Guess not many people still use them nowadays but they're great ones for sound quality wise. I'll update again for APQ8064 based devices in next version after releasing new Xperia Z ROM.
Thanks for this. If I'm not mistaken, you were the one who made the xperia fidelity mod right?

I haven't used it tons, but the volume is enhanced and the music is much clearer, IMHO. Also the sound is more distinguishable when coming through the units speakers....in other words it is noticeable which speaker the sound is coming through. Not sure if that helps you or not. Not sure if I'm just repeating the OP...as in I heard better sound and flashed on a recommendation...I didn't even read the OP...oops LOL

Hey I've flashed this great mod 3 days ago and it's really a recognizable improvment to the sound that I had with the stock driver that came with the rom I use (Ganbarou-GT v3.10 wich is a great one! )
But i have one little problem, my tablet shuts down it self now....
To explain a little more, the hole story:
After i flashed you'r mod, I've used my Tab like normal (mostly surfin' the web, checking emails, g+ app and youtube) then I switched off the screen, put my Tab to the table and left the house for work. When I came back after about 9 hours, throin' my stuff in the corner and my a** on the couch and grabed my Tab - and is was down...same thing has happend over night (I just switched off the screen and put it on the table when I went to bed) after I get up in the Morning I found my Tab off .... I have this scenario since 3 days and today I left it with 13% and charging (stock charger) while I was at work and it acted the same way.
Each time I left, the Battery was about 40 - 50%
And each time i came back it was at 25 - 35%
Does anyone has an idea for a solution?
Ok... thx for nothin...
So i reflashed my rom and this mod now it seems to be fine

It doesn't look like a problem with the battery, because - if u look at my first post - there was enough power at every time.
My tablet just switched off it self if I had turned the screen off just long enough, can't tell how long exactly but when i came back from work it was off ...
And when I think back it wasn't complete off, it seems that it was just the screen that won't turn on again because I had to press power button for a few seconds and then press it again and the Tab was booting
But now, after i reflashed, it works
Btw thx for ur reply

No worries... and, it seems like I may have spoken too soon. Just reached for my freshly charged tab (haven't touched it all morning) - it appeared to be powered down... I tapped the power button a few times, had to hold it until it rebooted, and the battery's only at 60%. Must have heard me singing its praises... no good deed goes unpunished, they say. Shame - it's a great mod... still not 100% sure it's the mod's fault, but the timing seems more than coincidental.

Jep me too... just came back from work and got that problem again. But I'm not shure about that - after my tab booted it was at 13% and imidiantly shut down, so I will gave it another try tomorrow after I have reloaded it...
Edit: Jep to soon.... let my tab on and charging over night, in the morning it was down again... but i really think it's just the screen that wont turn on.....
Hey is this mod compatible with stock ics? I'm asking because I flashed this on the XperiaZTablet ROM(which is ics) and I had the same problem that several users had while on ics. The navigation bar went missing and I had a few FCs upon reboot. Previously while on JB I had no such issues.

So.. I flashed this mod on the latest android 4.2.2 cm, in the past year i thought i destroyed my woofer in my car because of the bad bass and considered about buying a new one, but never had the time for it... I flashed this soundmod this morning and the sound was all good again! (Plugging my tablet in via AUX in my car) i got a little to excited and turned up the volume, went to the store and came back... And noticed that my woofer cracked my windshield... Lol that's what i call a good sound quality! and all working well on it! Thanks!

Hi Guys,
My last phone was an HTC HD2. In the car I could place it in a holder, connect an audio lead from the phone to my car auxiliary input and a charging lead via the cigarette lighter.
This setup allowed me to use the sat nav function and answer calls with incoming voice over the auxiliary input of the in car stereo and my voice picked up via the mic on the phone.
While not quite a full handsfree, this setup was perfectly satisfactory for my requirements.
However when I try the same setup with the note I find that I can hear incoming calls but they can't hear me. I assume this is because the note sees a plug in the audio jack socket and assumes that a handsfree kit has been plugged in so it mutes the built in mic in favour of the headset one.
Is there any way round this? Or do I have to buy a handsfree kit?
That's odd, I have exactly the same setup on my Note and have had no issues with calls.

I had the exact same issue. I talked about it here, and got zero responses.

But, after trying an *expletive* load of different roms/kernels/patches I found something that works! Assuming you are comfortable with rooting and ROMing the only thing that corrected it was updating to the newest ROM LA6 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416192
I chose the "tweaked" version, and quite honestly it is the fastest most stable firmware I have tried (I've tried all the most popular e.g. rocketrom, cassies, speedmod etc) and it has the added bonus of correcting what I deemed as a manufacturer bug.
I hope this helps!

Many thanks k1ng617, at least there is hope for me .
I did look at the ROM by substancer that you are using but settled on the checkrom which is brilliant in every other respect and the kitchen app is awesome.
I'll have a play with different kernels on checkrom, and probably ask in that thread as well, before I jump ship as it is a truly excellent ROM.
At least I know there is a solution so many thanks for that.
Cliver, using the stock rom. I came from the SGS2 LTE which had exactly the same problem you described, and was pleasantly surprised that the Note didn't. Didn't tweak anything, worked right out of the box. I do have a white version, not sure if that makes any difference. See screenshot below for my Note's Kernel and Build details. Hope this helps!

Thanks shirazs. I'm sure the white hardware is exactly the same so can't be that..
I didn't try it before flashing a new ROM so don't know if mine would have worked out the box but guess it probably would have.
I have asked on the ROM thread to see if anyone else is having or has cured the same problem. If all else fails I'll try out the available kernels to see if they cure it.

Yah, that was a huge relief for me too. I actually bought a dongle w/ a microphone and connected it to my aux cable and it was a TERRIBLE solution, because everyone was telling me how hollow and distant I sounded. It was a real deal breaker for me and essentially ruined the positive experience I had with the phone.
CheckROM was actually the last ROM i used before I switched to Substancer's and I enjoyed it very much. I loved his Kitchen concept, but after switching to LA6 and found that it fixed the microphone issue, I can't go to any other ROM unless I know it works. BTW it didn't work on CheckRom tho YMMV.
Also, it's not the kernel that fixes it, it is something inside the firmware that corrects it, because I've switched kernels and it doesn't affect it. Weird thing that it works for Shirazs, because I was on LA4 (newer than LA2) but it does seem like it was from another region because his is ZSLA and the one I had was XXLA (Europe)

Hmmm,, interesting point on the ZSLA vs XXLA. I'm on EU XXLA.
I'm going to see if I can get it working with Checkrom before I jump ship. I'll let you know how I get on.

Update
Just a quick update to say I'v got pretty much nowhere.
Tried every combination I could on checkrom but can't get it working. Didn't get any responce from devs on their thread either which pissed me off a bit. Love the rom but not impressed by the lack of support. I know the devs are busy but a quck reply to let me know I exist would be nice .
Tried Cassie's XtraLight which takes my fancy but couldn't get anywhere with that.
Now, although I'm not into stock roms with all the bloatware that comes with them I have tried to download substancers rom to give it a bash but the download keeps hanging on me. I have downloaded from other lonks no problem so not a problem my end.
Is anyone else having trouble with the downloads from RapidShare?
At the moment I'm back on checkrom as apart from the mic mute problem I love it. Just wish I could get it working in the car
Cliver, have you tried using a different aux cable, again I'm using stock Rom with no issues of the mic muting per my earlier response. Aldo, have you tried turning the Noise Cancellation feature on and off. Let me know if I can help out in any way. I feel your pain having gone through the same problem with my SGS2 Skyrocket.

I seem to have cracked it
Well, would you beleive it?
Having flashed a few roms to try and get this working I have now gone back to my much loved CheckROM V5. Did a clean install and re installed everything from scratch.
Then following your thoughts shirasz, I tried a couple of cables in the house to see if they could "hear" me through Voice Talk. Low and behold it worked.
So out to the car with the "new" cable and it worked. I then tried the old cable and it also worked???
No idea what's going on. I haven't installed anything different and setting are the same as far as I can tell, but it's working now so I'll leave well alone.
Happy bunnny
Thanks for all the assistance guys, much appreciated

This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, they change two lines in your build.prop file which you could easily edit yourself in seconds and maybe throw a keyboard in there to make it work better. It's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank. Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. we're calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.

How often will this ROM be updated?
I will stay updated with the CM9 nightlies as well as the Paranoid Android releases. This means that if there is a significant update to the CM9 nightlies I will rebase the ROM so that it is current. If there is also an update to PA then I will incorporate those fixes AND rebase the ROM to the CM9 nightly.
Something went wrong! Can you help me?
I'd love to help you, but I need a little more information about your issue. You should provide us with information regarding what your issue causes and what you did before the issue started. However, before asking me and the community, ask yourself two simple questions:
Can I reproduce the error?
Have I looked for a solution?
If you answered "yes" to both of these questions and came up empty handed, then post it in the thread and it will be addressed.
Can you add *this* to the ROM?
Although we are not obligated to add anything and everything to the ROM, we will do our best to supply your desires and live up to your expectations. Do not mistake this for a guarantee. We would like to do everything, but we may not be able to.
I'm experiencing some force closes, what gives?
Boot into recovery and fix permissions. Then reboot.
I love this ROM, can you do more projects like this?
Yes, I can do more porting projects. If you find any other AOSP ICS ROMs that you want ported, let me know.
My battery life sucks. What gives?
HWA (hardware acceleration) is sucking the battery life out of the ROM.
Where can I go for information about the latest updates?
You can follow me on Twitter

Sounds like it just gives you tablet access with sizing?

Yeah. It's a CM9 based ROM that allows you to switch between phone and tablet mode which gives you the opportunity to use tablet apps and view apps as how a tablet would display them. It also gives you the possibility of adding customizable onscreen buttons like the GNex. And a lot more...
Hmm.. sounds interesting.
Might it come with your battery mod?
Using clutch right now because I needed battery.

I put it in there, though HWA might take a toll on the battery life. So far the battery life seems decent.

Glad you like it (though it's the ParanoidAndroid team's work) I'm going to try and fix tablet mode (optimized) in the next update so it shows the status bar at the bottom.
Since I'm waiting to sell this phone, I might as well help a phenomenal Dev out...
Flashing soon. Thanks PureMotive.
can anyone comment on the speed of this rom and what doesn't work? and lag/smoothness? last time i installed a CM9 rom it wasn't ready for prime time. have things changed?
Lol I asked about this in CM9 thread the other day and BAM! Awesome job getting this working for us.

Wow!!!
Trying it out now as we speak and it seems very fast. How long does it stay in tablet mode? I kind of like Tablet mode but would be nice if the lettering and such were normal size but in tablet mode
Maybe this will work Pure? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23275045

The phone stays in tablet mode for as long as you want it to. You can change the font size to your preference. Personally, I like tablet mode (small).

For those of you who are experiencing issues with the phone, boot into recovery and fix permissions. That should work.

Great, looking forward to it.
Also just so everyone knows, this is beyond dpi.. you can manage a super small sleek look while your apps can be set at different dpi sizes.
You won't find this in the market my friends, this is the real deal.
On a side note.. is there a good working kernel? Flashed Invisibleks kernel and its draining fast.
Edit: looks like jelly bean is all the Rage right now, almost every front topic is saying jelly bean.
Curious how well it will work on our phone, I've read it included various tweaks to certain parts of ICS.

Hello one and all, this is Paranoid Android for the P7510! If you've seen any of the other PA threads, they're a bit swankier than this. That'll come in time, no worries! This is still very much my first build - both personally and in the case of the ROM. Things might be a bit squiffy, but that's to be expected, I went into this completely dumb and learnt as I went
Still. It works. My tab hasn't exploded. Give it a try, tell me what works and what doesn't. I'm learning PA settings as much as any of you guys will be
What doesn't work:
Everything non-functional in CM10.
Can't find the button to enable MTP. That might be a problem with me and the button being moved?
Download here!
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/23306362/pa_p4wifi-2.00-27AUG2012-2325.zip
Installation instructions:
As normal, make sure to install GApps. Any plain old jb ones will do, which is awesome.
Once booted (a black screen after the boot animation seems usual) you'll need to enable the navigation bar. To get it you have to go to settings>system>navigation bar and then turn the option on in there. If anyone can tell me how to have this enabled by default, that'll be awesome.
I've been strongly considering selling my tab to get the n7, but with cm10 quickly catching up and now Paranoid being here I may have to rethink the move. Thanks for this! Downloading now..

I use it on my phone too. Between the Optimus 2X and the Tab 10.1, it does seem more sensible to be using PA on the big screen. Apps scale up better than they do down, if you see what I mean.
Ok so I flashed it and it works pretty nicely, but I think it doesn't scale very well in some areas or functions as well as cm10, such as with multitasking. Nonetheless, I'm excited to see where this ROM will go.

Forgive me for this but what the point of paranoid Android on a tablet? On a phone it's pretty useful since I can enable the tablet side of apps without going full tablet UI, but what about on a tablet? Most horribly scaled apps can already be rescaled using that arrow thing in the combined bar.
Also, I'll try to look into that MTP issue for ya (don't totally rely on me though). I feel like I've forgetten everything so I want to brush up.

Thanks good sir. The best way I can put it is manipulation of the system ui. In that I mean you can have the device running at stock dpi, but get the style of the Nexus 7. People may think I'm crazy for that, but i like the notification shade instead of a button, and the launcher in phone mode is just so much better, especially when done right. Of course it's subjective preference, but it's an option and I find that some aspects are far better than stock tablet ui.
In other news, yes, the multitasking is completely wrong, I'm fiddling around with settings now, but will have to ask more knowledgeable peeps if I can't solve it.
What did you port this ROM from? There's a hitload of problems that have to be worked out.. Plus Android seems to be trolling me, this is what logcat puts out when I enable / disable the navigation bar;
Code:
D/WifiService( 283): setWifiEnabled: true pid=1051, uid=1000
As to how the hell that can even happen, no idea.
Anyway I hear default settings are in SettingsProvider.apk but I didn't see the ones I was looking for. Multitasking isn't exactly broken, it's trying to use the phone UI. If you look at the power menu you'll see it's stupidly oversized because of the the phone Ui. In fact that can all probably be changed or fixed in Paranoid Settings.
On the sad side, launchers are extremely laggy. What gives? I hate lag
EDIT: Super smooth in the tablet mode. Something is up, making the Phablet UI super laggy.
Downloading... i know this is in development but i want to see what to expect seems promising
If I read right, one of the main features of this will be a Nexus 7/phone styled launcher in portrait mode?

Yep, that's right. You have to enable navigation buttons manually though.
EDIT: Ninja'd.
Hi friends...all the project is great,I've not tested it though...
don't think I've lost my mind but for the MTP, I think you must:go to settings-->storage-->the menu button in the upper right corner of the screen-->USB PC connection -->connect as a media device(MTP) may this help...
I have the p7500 but am used to flashing all useful 10.1 ROMs
again I say:I've not lost my mind...

If one long press the current apps icon in statusbar you will get menu options for the app your in. I have not installed this on my tab only on my S3.
Please try if it works

Forgott one thing, in settings/system/hardware keys theres an option for action overflow wich brings the three dotted menu in apps back. Dont know if it apply to settings.apk but it wurth a try.

Yeah...the WiFi is odd. I grabbed some files from maple syrup to actually make WiFi work. I'll look into it later on.
Anyway, the source should be pretty clean. All of it was from Pershoots github for the tab and PA's for their stuff. The only niggle is that I have the Paranoidpreferences apk from the Gnexus in there. It's closed source and the N7 one doesn't give us phablet mode (because it is one already)
Edit: How odd, the MTP option just suddenly appeared after a reboot. Going to have to figure out why...

Can Apktool be used to bring it in the Nexus 7 apk?
Also, is anyone getting bad lag in the Phablet mode? The launcher lag is crazy' but as soon as I go to tablet mode, its smooth.

Android 4.3.1 - ParanoidAndroid 3.99 RC2
I just wanted unaltered Paranoid Android for my tablet like I have on my phone, but it wasn't available. So, after some hair pulling, and some very gracious guidance from HumberOS and Androguide.fr I built it from source. I've been running it for 3 days now, and haven't noticed anything except the menu soft-button doesn't appear on some apps, but that is an app issue not the ROM, so without further Ado:
Screenshots Attached
And here is are the download links for both devices (make sure to download your device):
AOSPA 3.99-RC2 FW:4.3.1
-MIRROR-
older build: AOSPA 3.69 FW:4.2.2 no GT-N8000 - MIRROR
GApps - MIRROR 1 - MIRROR 2
GApps are not my work, I am merely listing them here for convenience.
WHAT WORKS:
Everything so Far including the S-pen (hence the use of the word Everything).:silly:
BUGS:
NONE:cyclops:
MANY MANY THANKS got to:
ParanoidAndroid Team
CyanogenMOD Team
HumberOS
Androguide.fr
(hopefully thats all if I forgot anybody whose work got rolled in, PM me and I'll add you)
..and of course thanks to anybody who chooses to hit the donate button!!!:highfive:
my source code is here
ParanoidAndroid source code
I am also building for th GT-N8000 before anyone asks it will be at the above link in a few days.
If you like to play with "developer options", go to "About Tablet" in settings and tap build number 7 times to unhide the option,
but it is not necessary for any normal function.
ALL SOUND ISSUES FIXED!!! Now compatible with Awesome Beats v5+
I will be updating ONLY for security updates and version updates. There will be NO NIGHTLY builds. I want to stay married! LOL
Updated to latest version as of 10/27/2013
PLEASE!!!!!! NO PM's ABOUT COMPATIBILITY OR QUESTIONS!
THIS FORUM IS FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS and the other users can and often will answer your questions faster than I will. Also I ONLY have the GT-N8013 so asking me if it works on any other version of the note 10.1 is futile. I support the N8013 and N8000 because there is official support at Cyanogenmod for them which is what most of PA is based on. any other N80xx device may or may not work. Try if you want it is your risk. If it works I am glad I could give you PA as well and others would love to know SO POST.
Most things seem to work fine but I had no sound.

What flashing process did you use, so that others might follow? Did you do a complete wipe, or just flash over an existing ROM. Several people are telling me they have no sound. I am checking the source code now to find the bug, but a work around would be nice in the meantime.

Sound issue
@Tattoo_Paul,
Sorry for delay.
I will check the sound issue today later.
Btw, nice work dude!
Congras!
------------------
Edited:
I saw that you solved it!
Nice!
Sound IS working on all build!
Sound is working on all n8013 builds now! Redownload the rom. If you have no sound you have an old copy of the rom.
As for the n8000 builds showing a question mark for the battery, its a kernel issue, that should be resolved shortly.
As for n8010 compatibility, I DON'T KNOW! Usually n8013 and n8010 roms are mostly compatible, but I take know responsibility for your device should you choose to flash this rom.
Just for the knoeledge base, the sound issue was caused by a misnamed file. system/etc/sound should contain a file named n8013 (or n8000) when compiled it was named GT-N8013. Rename it to n8013 (with lowercase n) and all sound turns on. If that doesn't turn on all your sound, you have other issues not caused by this rom.
Paul
I hope that clears things up, Because people keep PMing me asking sound works now. I thought the big bold red letters saying sound works would do it.
Halo is a pain if you accidently turn it on

I am experiencing the same issue with the display of the battery..
As you mentioned that this is a kernel issue, will it be a workaround to flash another kernel or am I wrong ?

My issue with the new build is that nav bar at the bottom is like a centimeter big, no joke. Also the keyboard fcs on boot. Idk if I installed wrong or what, some input would be awesome. Also, question. When installing, it says "installing update". Does that mean we can flash the new builds over the previous ones?

Don't know if this is related, but on my GS3 I installed a 4.2 gapps on a 4.3 CM 10.2 rom and had wonky problems like that. Make sure you are using a 4.3 gapps. Especially F/C keyboard issues. Only problem I am having with this rom is the battery percentage not working.
Hello I was given a used Galaxy Tab as a gift last year. It didn't come with any Headphones though.
I tried to use the Ones that came with my Galaxy S (GT-I9000), but it doesn't seem to work with it though.
I'm sure there are those here that have both the GT-P1000 (or its nearest relations), and the stock Headset.
If that's the case I'd like to ask you if it were possible to post a picture of the Headset, and the Mic / Answer Button and or Volume +/-.
So I might be better able to have an idea of which version I need to get.
Thanks.

Funny those look almost... (If I do not dare say) like the exact pair I got with my Galaxy S (GT-I9000). It also only has the Answer & Hold Button on it, yet I don't know why these just don't work on my Tab, or my Fathers Tab, (both GT-P1000 GSMs BTW) either.
So I think I can rule out a Hardware fault. Seems unlikely that two different units would develop the exact same fault. And I can reproduce this with his set of i9000 Headphones on his P1000 as well.
The sound is generally monotone I'd guess the Left channel if I had to, and the Button is ignored. as well as the Mic.
I don't think I ever left the Tab in a "Stock" state for more then an Hour over the course that I've had it. But I'd like to ask you anyway just to rule the possibility out. Are you able to still use that Headset after installing a Custom ROM? I can't see how it would affect it, but, lesser things get broken in such ROMs all the time.
To describe my problem as such when I insert those Headphones into my P1000. I get a strong Left Channel monotone output. That make everything sound very tinny. The Call / Hold Button doesn't seem to be working either. Using normal Phones I'm able to enjoy better (i.e. normal sound). But of course it harder to take or make calls from the Tab.
I'm just guessing that somehow that this Headset is somehow incompatible with the Tab (P1000), and I'm trying to track down a pair that are.
But again thanks
I haven't used my tab for phone calls for years.
But the stereo works for music.
I listen to podcast on beyond pod, and music on Neutron player. Both sides of the earphones are equally strong.

Specifically those Phones (as pictured), or just a normal pair of Cans?
'Cause those (i.e. Cans), work just fine for me too. But, I'd like to be able to take a call with out having to take my Tab out, take the call, and have to press the Speakerphone Button TWICE so that I can hear who I am talking to, and to be heard myself. And yes my P1000 has pretty much kicked my Galaxy S to the Curb these days...
Specifically those in the picture.
It is the only pair I have on my bedside table
One of these days I should be trying out the phone/data function again. I have been using my tab purely as a wireless tablet so far.

Thank you very much for this info. Its been most helpful... I guess I really should just run an nandroid backup (to save myself from having to re-download everything again..., and restock this hunk'o junk back to factory gingerbread just to be sure. But as i've seen on another thread (I think it may have been the for OmniROM...), the Audio Out (on the Docking Station), also fails to work under it, and CM11 as well. Which I have also confirmed. It has since only lead me to question if these problems really are somehow related...
In any case I have ordered a pair of hard plastic White Phones that were also reportedly shipped with the P1000
I hope I have a bit more luck with these then I did with my stock Phones that came with my Galaxy S though....
They should be hopefully be here tomorrow, or Friday by the latest, given that Thursday is a National Holiday here in Germany.
So I'll report back with what findings as I can when they come in.
P.s. One last question are you on a Stock ROM or not?
In any case normal three pin Jacks work just fine on my P1000, its only the Headset that came with my Galaxy S (which has Four Pins (as pictured above), that doesn't. It has also been pointed out that you have to press a bit harder to get all Four Pins to connect. Which is kinda true if you weren't aware of the fact. Which I am, so I can't press the jack any deeper then it already is though.
I am on Omni. But prior to this I was on the last of Terenceng cm11. Before that I was on AOKP SGT and way before that I was in overcome.
The earphones has always been working in all those as far as music is concerned.
Regarding docking, I think it is an entirely different issue. The audio goes via the many pin connectors.

Again thank you very much for taking your time to respond. Its greatly appreciated!
In any case I decided to make a nandroid backup and restock.... Just to be sure.
And, I would like to state that I got this Tablet used as a birthday gift from my old man last October, it may have had stock Phones originally, but I never saw 'em. I've been trying to get it to work with my Galaxy S Phones, but these do not seem to work, even if I'm currently at the moment in a pure Samsung stock, and not rooted state.
I can only surmise that the Phones that came with the Galaxy S (GT-I9000), are somehow incompatible with the P1000. Which is on the whole odd given that they look just like the Ones in your Picture. I'm gonna guess its how the hold button part is wired up that makes it just different enough not to work. So I'll just have to wait and, see if those White Ones will somehow work better once the get here.
I also tried the Dock again as more of a goof then anything else, and Sound as well as HDMI-Out presumably works as well durr....
So thankfully I think I can rule out some kind of Software Bug as the cause of this. I just wish I knew the part number of your Headset so i could re-order it either from Samsung, or off Fleebay. As I much prefer those kind to the harder plastic White Ones. But, at this point I'd be happier if they just worked!

As I had promised to do I shall write a quick review of the above Headset Model Number EHS61ASFWE(GH-59-11129H) F* (For the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000)... First off these unlike my Stock Phones that came with my Galaxy S (GT-I9000) DO INDEED WORK!! on my GT-P1000. alas their is always a "catch" though. This "Catch" it seems to only Work in Stock ROMs (As being currently tested on my GT-P1000 which has been re-stocked back to Gingerbread v2.3.3.
I have not tested CM10... (From 20130203), the only "Decent ROM" I know of against this "Headset" yet, but although Stereo out, and the Mic seem to be working in OmniROM the latest build (As of this Writing...), the Call & Hold Button is totally being ignored as if it weren't there. In a totally Stock Samsung ROM though they do work....
I'll try some other ROMs first with CM-11 SGT7 ROM (as I'm in love with KitKat at the Moment. If that fails... (As it likely will... I'll fall back on Jelly Bean and, hope that does the trick....)
*EDIT' I tried these on the most recent CM11 SGT7 -- [ROM]SGT7 CM11.0 UNOFFICIAL [4.4.2][P1/L/N][Kernel 3.0.x][2014-05-25] The Button works well here as a Play / Pause Button for Music. I can even Take incoming Calls by just pressing the Button. Though I can NOT seem to hang-up on calls though. Pressing the Button only seems to mute the Mic. on my end. I'm gonna post a bug report about this in the
[ROM][4.4.2] OmniROM Official Nightlies for p1ln, that the the Headset isn't working as expected under that ROM. Hopefully someone can fix it.
*FYI I was able to find these on Fleabay for 'round 5€'s if anyone else is in need of such a Headset. I'd have preferred the "Black In Ear" style myself. But I have no Model / Order Number upon which to work with. And these Headsets are NOT the same, as these, as wouldn't ya know it DO NOT work on the Galaxy S either.
Those headphones works for the p1l?

Yes the Ones I Pictured and named... EHS61ASFWE(GH59-11129H) F** work on stock Samsung Firmware!!*
I've noticed that these, and other "P1" (Wired) Headphones have White Bands where as the Phones that came with my Galaxy S (GT-I9000) have Black Bands. What I don't know, or can be sure of is if this ... Color Code, means anything. But these Phones such as they are DO NOT work on my Galaxy S (GT-I9000), in the exact same way as the Phones from that Phone DO NOT work on my Tablet GT-P1000.
Problem is I've just made the jump to a Bluetooth Headphone, and now my biggest complaint is on how to route System Alerts, and Ringtones to the Bluetooth Phones, without being channeled though the internal Speaker(s). (Come on Google FIX THIS!)
* As it is these Phones work as expected on the Stock ROMs. Call & Hang up, Play & Pause.
They do NOT work at all on the OmniROM.... Bar the Stereo out, which continues to work. But the Button is totally ignored.
On [ROM]SGT7 CM11.0 UNOFFICIAL [4.4.2][P1/L/N][Kernel 3.0.x] The Button is working for Play / Pause, and though you can take calls with it, it seems that pressing the Button again only mutes the Mic., and does NOT actually hang up the Call.
Its worth noting that YMMV, depending on which flavor of the P1 you have, and which ROM you find yourself on. But, if they work on Stock... (Which these do!), then they should work for most ROMs as well.
** You can find these on Fleabay by searching for EHS61ASFWE they generally go for ~5€ new.
Thx a lot!
