Is it just me or is the facebook app lagging really bad?
On older versions it was a little faster.
I'm using fasty rom.

Yep I do like the older versions the new one sucks.
I believe it has a memory leak. I've seen it climb up to 44mb of ram. I emailed the dev but never got a reply.

It's an absolutely terribly coded app. It's basically the web interface with terribly memory management issues. It's hit as high as 55MB of RAM usage on my phone. I recommend just making a bookmark to the mobile sit and using that through the browser. It's essentially the same experience until we can get a decent Facebook app

Yeah the Facebook App has always been extremely slow for me. Takes upwards of 30+ seconds to sometimes refresh news feeds or to change sections. I've opted to use the mobile site version instead now... and guess I'll give friend caster a try!

It rarely notifies you, which is extremely annoying.
Facebook app is one SORRY A$$ excuse for an app...i really don't understand how they have that many people working and the updates just kept getting worse and worse...now it's just a huge battery hog and doesn't even do what it's supposed to properly...all those negative comments in the reviews and they just lie complacent as if nothing's going on....i swear it's a ruse by Zuckerberg showing favoritism to Apple probably...a-holes
Thanks for the TIP on the Friendcaster. that works very fast. now adding to my tablet as well.
One other tip I'd offer is looking into Tinfoil for Facebook. It's essentially just a cached, Sandbox'd version of the mobile site, but there's a dedicated app for it, and it does run fairly fast on my phone!
Friendcaster is lightyears faster and more efficient than the Official Facebook App.
The facebook app is utter crap. Way too slow!! Better off using the browser.

I feel it smoother too and they said they will catch up with the desktop version in early next year. Yay!
It is still a slow rendering resource pig.

Still no plugin support and that's most disappointing. If they really do make a full desktop browser experience it will be welcome with open arms. As it sits now, I want nothing more than to filter the crap ads that permeate every part of the internet, without the need of a separate app that may or may not work without rooting.

Still the only Android browser that doesn't have an easy to access History option. Utterly bizarre that they hide it away and you need to enter an url to get to it.

I'd just be happy if they fixed the thumbnails on the bookmarks widget not showing up. its been like that from the beginning. How do they not notice that? Sometimes i wonder whether Google employees actually use android devices.
Although to give them their dues, page rendering seems a lot faster on the new update. really noticeable for me.
For me, the chrome update has made a world of difference in loading times. I was using opera mobile because chrome was so slow, but now chrome is flying past opera. Don't get me wrong, it's not flawless, but the loading speeds are what matter most for me.

Still giant rendering issue ..when using some heavier sites scrool faster and you will see onlu white background ..that does not happen with ASOP ,mahton or Naked browser..And no flash just makes chrome for me no go..there are lot of sites that i use that are in flash..like online picture editors that are much better then any app on android and with bluettoth mouse is so much easier ..also most of video sites are still i flash and that wont change soon.

Weird issue for me with the new Chrome: Tried opening a website last night on it and it told me I needed to set a proxy server, then provided instructions on how to do that but only applicable to the desktop Chrome. Opened the same website via Firefox Nightly and it was fine.
Chrome update has been a lot better for me. It used to be very slow and calculated. Now I can zip around pages.
Do we know yet if htc has fixed the multitasking in the one. I had an x and x+ and the thing could not have more than a couple apps open at one time. It was quite annoying going into your mail app from the browser and having your browser reload when you go back into it. This drove me nuts.
If htc fixed that on the one I will be first in line to get one. If not then i will take a pass.
I read some article (hands-on) and it said multitasking is great, the phone just flew between apps
This is one thing I am looking for as well. I can't stand the multi tasking on my one x. It is completely useless. Couldn't even switch between two apps without having to reload them. I had also heard in one of the hands on videos I believe that they said the multi tasking had been fixed as well. But I'm still waiting for a thorough review.

But, yeah, I have the SGS3 now and it's nice to actually have multitasking compared to my HOX. I miss the non-pentile screen so much and I will definitely be pre-ordering one of these.
Lol hey I knew that post looked familiar! he was just quoting without the quotes heh. Yea I have the hox and my buddy has the s3 and it absolutely drives me nuts that he can actually multi task...I almost stopped using the button on this phone as it is near useless.

i read that it is limited to the last 9 apps you have used (which is more than enough i think)
so hopefully that means they have sorted it but could only get the last 9 working.
I'm fine with the last 9 working, as long as they are truly staying in some sort of saved state and pull back up to where you were at without reloading I'll be ecstatic.

9 apps only? With 2GB of RAM? A complete TRAGEDY!
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
The problem is if those 9 apps are actually held in RAM or not. The HOX showed plenty of apps in the recent app list, it's just that they had all been killed already so it re-loaded from scratch.
Hopefully HTC have learnt, and if not then 2Gb RAM should make a difference too
M.
very nice
Any one get the ONE already can give some view on the mulitask performance?
If you you open several APP, like web browser and other APPs, when you switch back to web browser will it reload the pages?
Seems to work flawlessly none of the nine apps refresh

The phone will not have any multitasking problems with 2 gigs of RAM.
One X had only 1 gb, that's why it sucked with more than 2 apps open.

1g shall work fine for multitask, but one x has special handling to deal with multitask that cause it a problem. It killed app when memory still very much.
So we need ONE user to give their feedback on how good it is now.
Can someone with the One make a video and post it up please.
Go to Youtube Desktop version, play the video to 1 min in, Press home, go into email app, Press home then go to task Switcher app, Click on Youtube and see if the video is still at 1 min mark or it refreshed.
Its a deal-breaker for me

Firefox vs chrome vs Dilphin ..
Addons vs speed vs gestures, which is better in ur experience ?
I periodically try the others, but keep going back to Maxthon. Not much in the way of add-ons, but then I don't need much. The built-in "reader" mode works for most sites and gives an easy-to-read, clutter-free experience.
Boat browser, by far.

Tried a lot of browsers but stock browser is still my favourite by far. Its Quick Controls feature is something I can't live without.
I was actually getting fed up last night with chrome and chrome beta crashing every 2 seconds so i jumped on play store and grabbed a random browser just for fun, i found UC Browser HD and so far i absolutely love it! It works great in portrait and landscape and it feels like it loads pages really quick. Also, i almost forget to mention two finger swipe for adding and closing tabs and a handy little toolbar on the bottom right that you can add shortcuts to, right under where your right thumb usually rests.

I'd like to mention that for me UC browser was horrible because it spammed my devices. I complained directly in their forum and asked for ad free version but they don't have a pay version. So for me UC was out of the game.

Well, I use ad blocker, too. When using UC Browser the first page/start screen showed always ads. To be true, if you're willing you can ignore it... but I am very sensitive to ads. They annoy me.
For all fans of Dolphin browser ->
read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319529
Right now I'm using stock CM browser.
The AOSP browser by a long mile, IMHO... Sure, the other browsers (Dolphin, Opera, Maxthon) might have more options (lots of bells and whistles), but AOSP has the edge in terms of speed and smoothness.
For anybody not rooted or unwilling to flash a custom ROM, then Lightning Browser is the next best thing to the AOSP browser... (IMHO, of course).

But on my n7, I use Firefox because of f-sync, add-ons and flash...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Tried almost all browsers in market and my favorite browser is AOSP browser love that speed and flash support. But sometime using Chrome because of browser sync feature is really useful.
How do I get firefox to work with flash ?
I tried installing the archived android flash from adobe website and nothing ?
I've recently switched to AOSP browser, and I'm happy with it.
I used chrome before, but got annoyed by those popup bubbles when clicking links, because it ended up showing a bubble EVERY time I'd click something.
And also I can't stand their text scaling, most signatures on XDA were MASSIVE while actual posts were tiny.
I tried other browsers as well, every one had something that bugged me (like swiping from one side would bring up a menu or such...)
I still use Firefox occasionally when chrome or AOSP won't download something or for very rare flash.
