I really liked the quick view seeing for messenger and contacts in ICS ROM for AtrixHD. However this feature disappeared after the update. Is there a way to enable this?
I'm looking forward for some developers can figure out a way to mod it into JellyBean ROM :silly:
It must be something inside framework_res and systemUI. This quickview has been removed on all Motorolas since JB update.
The most logic reason why it was removed because that feature was not part of the "stock android features", and the JB was part of the NEW MOTOROLA, and so they tough "Why we had this? Let's remove it!" and Puff!! It disappeared! The JB updates for all Motorolas came with serious changes for us, the users, and that was good! But anyway, why do you want the Quick View on the icons when you can do the same function just scrolling the Jelly Bean Notification Bar? Just asking, is the same function... In ICS it was useful, but on JB is a repetitive feature.
Yes, maybe it looks quite the same, however quickview is a unique feature built for us, I like that difference
There is still quick view but Motorola disabled it and made as quick settings but quick view is unique

For everyone who just can’t seem to wait, the developer that brought you the Honeycomb launcher for your non-tablet devices, has also chosen to deliver the Ice Cream Sandwich launcher. Now technically, no one in the community knows exactly how ICS will look, but there was some leaked images shared via the interwebz a while ago that gave everyone a “taste” of what ‘Tha Sandwich’ might look like.
The launcher itself has a definite Honeycomb feel to it, but you will notice the icon that shows multiple apps (which everyone was buzzing over) in the dock area. There is a “running apps” feature, but this is complete hogwash seeing as how I have never opened the stock email app on this device, so there is no way it is actually running. They seem to just be apps pinned there by the developer. Looks neat though.
If you’re into trying the newest of the new, then give the launcher a go – don’t expect ADW/LPP type results though. The app has a ways to go to become our daily home app.

I like the layout a lot, super buggy but not bad for an alpha release...

That's what I was thinking, it could really have some potential as long as the Dev keeps working on it.
I didn't install this, so forgive me if this is a stupid question...But based on the screenshots, this looks basically the same as previous launchers, aside from the running apps bit. It seems the only change that gets made is the choice of 3D effect used on the app drawer lol.
Again, sorry if this is a question deserving of an "RTFM" response.

Basically it's just another launcher but themed as his vision of what ICS would look like on a phone. As far as the running apps go, that's just an icon... it looks good but doesn't actually represent any apps that may be running on your phone. The 3D looking drawer is pretty much just a scrollable list of icons that only open those specific apps. I didn't notice any difference between the actual app drawer and any other vanilla app drawer aside from the ability to access your widget menu directly within it.

it cannot be done in android as every manufacture use different method for their systemui.apk like Samsung give toggles in notification but HTC do not and like this there are so many difference so universally it is not possible but can be done for a set of custom rom, apple is the single manufacturer for iPhone and uses same method for building everything.
also there is one for cm9 roms which lets you do some modification in statusbar(don't remember the name though)
okay thanks anyways for reply.
I wonder if it would be possible to port quick settings from a Rom like CM to the standard Rom. I remember doing similar things with my Kindle fire (imported jelly bean background picture picker ans htcs live picture picker.)
PS: Don't be offended if this question is stupid somehow, i'm still an android noob, only used to ios modification

the standard rom has quick settings too, on 4.2.2
I'd like to know, too. TrickDroid has great QuickSettings and it would be awesome if it could be flashed to other 4.2.2 sense-based ROMs.
There are a couple of applications on the Play Store that install QuickSettings for you, like Widgetsoid which was my main one when I had the HTC One X.

Yeah, but it's nice to have it in the notification pulldown as well. It's 'quicker' that way.

If you swipe down with 2 fingers you get extended settings.... just as quick!
I know, but I always hold the device with one hand and use my thumb to tap, so it's not very practical for me.
Is there any mods to use AOSP style multitasking? I would just try an AOSP rom but i'm a bit worried about the bricking problems.

I think there are some ROMs with that as an option, but I'm not sure which ones off the top of my head. Check the OPs.

theres an App called Swapps that allows you to kind of do the whole multitasking thing, check it out i believe its in the play store and i used it on my E3D and actually liked it a lot and just havent actually re installed it. check it out and let us know what you think.
Hi guys, like all of you guys i just recently got the 4.3 MJA onto my device. The first thing i noticed was the 4g LTE signal was different, the next thing was that they added the equalizer thing on your volume control when listening to music. The font was also slightly different, other than that. not much else changed. the biggest thing for me is that i can now use full features on my galaxy gear.
Tell me what you guys think samsung should do with the 4.4 kitkat update? i want to hear your thoughts. Me personally i want to see a theme change for once instead of the green battery icon etc, also i'd like to see a new touchwiz version. kinda like aosp. Lastly maybe a theme change in the notification bar. i like how it's set up but it'll be really bad ass if they added some more cool features.

they have a wide audience, and mostly likely radical change is not gonna work for a portion of that audience, so I highly doubt you will see that happen on this phone. a possibility with the next, but definitly not until a future phone comes out with it first.
Not really a 4.4 thing but wish Samsung had optional TW themes while keeping their TW features. AOSP, seasonal, sports, tech, etc... TW based themes would be refreshing.

Samsung updated Google Maps.
Used Titanium Backup to go back to 6.x.

That would be fantastic! At the very least Samsung and Google should put in a theme engine like wanam where you can change the colors of the notification icons, area and pull down panel.

That would be so sick.... I would almost consider not rooting.... but I still deff would
First thing they should do is get rid of the ugly gingerbread green in the status bar. They never adopted holo blue so at least adopt the kitkat gray.
I still have yet to receive my 4.3 update

Either clear data on Google services apk or just manually update to 4.3.
