Hidden Menu | Device Test | Full Access | Root Not Required

Well this one isn't so difficult but I though I'd share for those that have not worked it out yet.
The LG Device Test "HiddenMenu" is apparently on all shipping phones and it's simply disabled via removing the menu entry.
To activate you need to create a shortcut to this hidden menu. You can do this with most replacement launchers and apps like BetterCut.
Example using LauncherPro (others will use a similar method):
Long press on home screen
Select Shortcuts
Select Activities
Scroll down to and expand com.lge.hiddenmenu
Select HiddenMenu (first entry)
Enter Shortcut name
Click on shortcut to launch
Hit 'Thanks' below
Also now Logcat app:
As above
Scroll down to and expand LG Debug
Select LG Debug (first entry)
Enter Shortcut name
Click on shortcut to launch
Hit 'Thanks' below
Enjoy the vast amount of options and tests in there, and be careful as some are destructive.

Wtf I just dimmed my touch buttons nice.
The brightess of the buttons was to bright for using the phone as a ebook reader at night the setting stays avyive even after exiting the test.
Btw is the thanks button only displayed on the site and not in tge xda app?

Thx buttons pressed!!
The phone is getting better and better.
Only thing for me left to do is Root, No adds and delete couple of apps.
And try to fix the Lock screen lag when you power on screen.

What specifically is that? I use WidgetLocker and don't experience lag... does it taker a while with the stock one to become responsive? I can't recall that.

Sometimes it goes to homescreen and then the lockscreen, when it's been idle for some time.
It also happens with widget locker for me.

I experience the same issue, but even more annoying, it keeps displaying unread messages on the lockscreen until i reboot.
I'm using Handcent, guess the lockscreen gets the unread count from the original messaging app. If anyone know of a fix, please do share.

No, rooted stock froyo 2.2.2 in my case.

Probably the free version of Launcher Pro does it I think.

I don't think I get the former, but certainly dodgy behaviour immediately after boot.
I have started getting the message count now when the stock screen flashes up. It seems to count all messages, read or otherwise.
Perhaps somebody can start a confirmed & common bugs thread in General for a good collection of them.
Some more:
I can't use a long complex password to connect to a WiFi-G AP, but a simple password works just fine.
Music controls return to notification shade sometimes after a reboot, box in Music app is still unchecked.

No problems with the above and lock screen, I'm using Launcher pro and Pattern lock.
These are bugs i'm experiencing:
[Not realy a bug but a LG feature]Multiple exchange accounts disabled in LGemail app. Resolved by using the Android mail client and freezing LGemail (thanks for that ).
Camera brightness not listening to "auto" brightness, but uses the manual settings. Maybe it`s just me, but can somebody check the brightness of the camera app after setting the brightness to minimal and then check "Auto".

Launchers (SHUTTING OFF SCREEN RANDOMLY)

I have tried several launchers, SPB 3D, Rigina 3D, Go, and all have giving issue with turning off the screen when I touch our and some times not. M gt screen time out is set to 2 mins. So that's not it. Anybody else having this issue? I issue seems to go away after returning back to stock launcher.

All I've used so far is the stock launcher but I"m getting fed up with it and thinking of trying something else. I'm kind of leaning toward Go but sounds like you've had issues with it.
The stock launcher has been shutting off on me for no reason at random times.

Ok this is what I have observed as well. I didn't observe this on stock, but noticed it on ADW, GO, SBC 3D, And Regina 3D. Sounds like a bug that not many are talking about yet.

A bit anoying. I am trying to use stock ROM too and I am having issues with shutting off screen add well. Very difficult to touch left side center of screen without the screen shutting down. I've done system restore as well, with no luck.hard to believe Moto missed this.
Seems if you touch screen longer than a second on left side, screen shuts of as well. Sometimes even without touching within seconds of a screen opening.

I'm using Go and I personally haven't seen this issue.
However, are you absolutely sure you're not accidentally covering the light sensor between the earpiece and the front camera? If you cover that, AND have the in-pocket detection set to "yes", you'll accidentally trigger the screen-off.
Of course that doesn't make sense if it's only happening on custom homescreens, and not stock. But I figure I should throw it out there just in case. In-pocket detection is the last option in Menu > Settings > Display.

it's happening to me on the stock launcher. I just saw that setting is turned on. I'll turn it off and see if that fixes it.

Well I know im not covering the light senser because I hold the botom with my left and tap with my right. I did tutn of pocket senser I will see what happens now.
And it was happening on stock.

screen issue
I noticed this happening on stock even with a different launcher layered over. As long as the original stock launcher is there/installed it happens.
I know this is not for everyone, but I have GO Launcher EX installed (which is my preferred launcher, everyone has there own) and after rooting I uninstalled the stock launcher.
I did this on my Droid 2 and noticed not only significant battery increase (as for some reason both launchers were running layered) but also no issues with the screen shutting off on its own as with the stock launcher.
If anyone wishes to also try this, do so at your own risk, but it is a suggestion that I have personally used and it has helped my phone.

that's weird because when I deleted it off my phone I found it as launcher.apk . is it possible that there are different apks for the launcher with the same phone?

I use launcher pro plus and have had no issues with it shutting off on its own. However, I have had problems unlocking my phone. Might be the screen protector, but when i drag my finger over the screen for the unlock pattern it thinks i lift it up halfway through the pattern and causes me to fail at unlocking. this is highly annoying, but i need lock on my phone. might move to a pin instead. All in all though, Launcher Pro is working like a charm. I use to use ADW Ex, but I wanted to try something new.

I was using launcher pro (free edition) and had similar problems. Mostly whenever my screen timed out and I would open it back up. Annoying enough to uninstall and go back to stock

I've been using Apex launcher forever now, and I've never had any problem like that. I have also tried out all the launchers you mentioned. And I always go back to Apex Pro. :good:

1. Gallery
Much much faster than earlier.
Used QuickPic earlier but now no need
2. Browser
Amazingly fast loading over 3G / Wifi..
Roughly 10 times faster processing.
New neater look.
3.Contacts
Upper 5 icons are only four. Phone/Groups/Contacts/Favourites. The logs feature used to be there is gone now
4. Gmail
Amazing appearance.
Downloading attachment shows % downloaded. Very good.
30 days sync instead of custom.
Swipe to see next or previous emails.
5. Snote S memo Splanner
Everybody knows the new features
6. Task manager
Thumbnail view of recent tasks plus sliding close of the same.
7. Notification bar
6 icons now: Power saver profile added.
Individual notifications can be closed by sliding.
8. SETTINGS: SOOO MANY MAJOR CHANGES
Wifi Bluetooth can be on off using sliders.
Data usage can be controlled per month or similarly.
Bluetooth internet tethering.
Display battery percentage remaining.
Face unlock.
9. MISC
Youtube: Better interface
Applications can be disabled individually without rooting.
This will be updated regularly.
Any more additions are welcome.

You can show your current battery percentage on the upper notification bar beside the clock. For those who dont know how, check settings > display > show battery percentage.
Its a good feature compared in gingerbread as we have to use another app to show the percentage

as far as i have seen it with the new task manager (or more the screen you get when you hold the home button) is that you not only see applications that are open but also applications that are closed but were recently used.
Sliding them just removes them from the quick list as there isn't anything to close
i know you kinda wrote that too, i just wanted to clarify it for the people that might have misunderstood you with that

3 dot menu as far as i know is with non TW launchers only and aosp roms

How are the on screen navigation buttons? (Home, search, back, menu buttons)
Do they work well? Are they too small to input?

no ,this ICS version is made specially for phones with hardware buttons, so you don't have the screen buttons like with the nexus

I read in some of the forum that some didn't get the premium suite and sadly that include me.

The premium suite is just the s note and other ics features. Thats all.

But if you have any saved certificates (VPN logins, for example), you will have to clear them before you can enable Face Lock. After that you can re-enter them and it'll still work.

Yeah... I did factory reset and i got all the things ics for Gnote supposed to get. Yeah! I love my Gnote even more.
FYI... Previously my ics update for Gnote didnt get the premium suit... And after factory reset its all came out

Becareful. U still can brick ur Note if u wipe in CMW in new offical ICS.

I dont know what the heck is CMW, what i do know is i never root my device or install other firmwere. Thats why im confident enough to factory reset my device.

There are some kernal bug triggered after system factory restore. The effect is your sd card wouldn't be detect. In serious case it will brick your phone.

Wow, camera shortcut in lock screen? Are you sure? I never had those, hope none had. Can open camera from lockscreen but i think shortcuts can be placed. Are you using stock launcher?

Does not work on pin, only on swipe to unlock. (So no code has to be entered to gain acces to the device.)
Music and Camera will be present there.
Sadly I could not find a way to remove or add things to help the OP.

The camera shortcut won't show up if you have a security lock screen on. Only if you have the swipe lock screen.
Is that your issue?

Not shortcut, as in a shortcut like you place on your home screen. It's part of Sony sleep-to-snap feature. There is a camera icon on the lock screen (on the right of the time display) that you can swipe left to directly launch camera (without unlocking your phone and accessing it from the menu/home screens). This makes it possible to capture those shots that only last a moment.
On the left side of the time display is the music icon. You drag that to the right to access music controls.
Checkout the screenshots below (they are Xperia V, but thanks to Sony's unified UI, looks the same). Hope this helps. If it does, hit thanks.

oops! so sorry. my phone is LT15i , i am looking for the option to change this lock slide. But ARC has no choice about this.
I googled for this issue, and directly go to last message i think.
is anyone know / if possible Please let me know how to change LT15i 's lock screen reverse sliding option
(right-to-left sliding is launchgin the camera application)

I had the same. I have found that when I upgraded the software it came back again and then disappeared again after a few days (I think this had to do with utilizing an 'Exchange' email account. I have now deleted the Exchange account (which has various security conditions attached to it) and then basically messed around in the security settings for setting to swipe (with quick launch activated in the camera) and then back to PIN and the camera in the lock screen is back again!!! Its been there and stable for several weeks now... give it a go!

Does anybody know how to add some shortcuts to the 'Home Button'? When you longpress the 'Home Button' you have a shorcut to Google Search, can you add more shortcut to that ring?

[Q] Missing "Setup" App

Am running the galaxy gear with null rom. I installed the nova launcher and sort of gave up on that, and went back to touchwiz.
Something strange happened recently - my Setup app on the gear itself is missing. It doesnt show in the gear manager on the phone. I tried clearing the gear manager cache on the phone - but it wont show up. It used to show up as one of those black+white big icons on the main screen if you side scroll. I had reordered a few of the main icons - but setup is totally missing.
Actually - I may even be confused. Sometimes if i double-finger tap - I can get a google-style setup screen (starts with a blank screen and a funny icon on the top right). From here I can see "settings" menu - tiny font - rather than the very unfunctional original Samsung setup - which had Display/Sound/etc.
I'm confused what I am seeing really because of the launcher confusion. (I can occasionally see the wifi/BT/battery status at the top).
Its really annoying because I cant easily see the battery status (despite having set this on the setup menu to display - when I could access the setup menu); and the note in the previous paragraph - that I can see the battery status is erratic - sometimes I can see the tiny status line but never when I want to see it - to check battery status).
I have rebooted the device.

Just tried to double tap my home screen - its so erratic - no joy. I succeeded 5 mins ago.

You need to re flash null rom and select the gear set up wizard to be installed. It is one of the options you can select when flashing the rom. There may be an easier fix but worst case scenario that should solve your problem. Also if you don't want Nova you can deselect it during flashing. That screen you are seeing is like on your phone when you slide down from the top of the screen (notifications, settings, etc)

Thank you - let me try that. I remember fiddling with the options on install - so this could be the magic clue.
Cant think why one would not want setup to be installed!

I had the same issue. Ended up flashing the latest null rom which included the set up wizard. Hope this works for you too.
