Update: 2010.11.29
This issue appears to affect all unlocked Froyo devices on the Rogers network. It MAY affect all Froyo devices, regardless of network lock status, but we have been unable to confirm this (yet) on the only Froyo device locked to Rogers - The Acer Liquid e.
There are currently 4 threads (that I am aware of) scattered around XDA. As this problem affects multiple devices I will start posting updates in the General Discussion/Q&A thread, and will stop posting updates here. If you are looking for more information, please refer to:

--------------------------------------------------
Greetings.
Sometime about two weeks ago my i9000m began to fail to find my location using the Rogers network. WiFi and GPS location both still work.
The phone is able to find my location using the network for a brief time after flashing a ROM, but then, sometimes after one restart, sometimes after an hour, and sometimes after approx. 24 hours, it is unable to find the location any more. If I am a little vague about the precise events after which the phone ceases to find locations it is because:
1. As long as I don't change location, the phone reports that it has found the location, so I have to move some distance to diagnose failure.
2. Some time or event has to elapse/occur before failure. I don't think that it's app installation, and I know that it's not system modification (deletion of apps in /system/app or adding/deleting files in /system/media/audio). It MIGHT be phone restart.
3. This is my primary phone, so I can't afford to take it out of service for extended periods of time for testing.
I don't have a logcat yet, but one is included in this thread (in a place where it likely isn't getting much attention):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845152
I THINK that Bell SIM cards work (it worked first time when i popped it in my unlocked i9000M - after Rogers failed), but I haven't been able to conduct a long trial.
Rogers SIM cards do not work: not the old one, and not the one that I got an hour ago.
I haven't yet been able to try the new Rogers SIM in the phone after a flashing a clean OS.
Is anyone else experiencing network location problems (on Rogers or another network)?
Does anyone have any idea how to correct the problem?
Not sure what it can be
but I'm on FIDO and network location still works fine.
try wiping the phone in Recovery Mode
both data and cache (factory reset format)
Here's an update:
i9000M + Rogers SIM + wipe (cache, factory, dalvik) = fail to find location
i9000M + Rogers SIM + wipe + flash Doc_V1.1_Bell I9000UGJK3 = finds and tracks location
BUT... fails (network location temporarily unavailable) after first restart (absolutely nothing else changed)
Bold 9000 + Rogers SIM = success
i9000M + Bell SIM = success, every time (app installs, restarts, etc.)
Colour me baffled. It's as if the phone itself doesn't want to work with Rogers (or vice versa).
logcat(s) attached for a failed Rogers attempt and a successful Bell attempt. I think that there's a key entry in the Bell logcat at line 9651, but I couldn't find anything obvious in the Rogers output. Does anyone know how to use this stuff to diagnose the problem? I'm almost ready to ditch this phone.
And one more bit of information...
For some reason, when I flash back to UGJG8 or UGJH2 I lose the ability to connect to ANY network, no matter what SIM card I use.
*#*#4636#*#* indicates that the radio is on, though the network type is usually set to unknown.
None of the other service menus seem to work properly - black screen, or data fields are empty.
Unless someone helpful has a bright idea, it looks like I'm taking this phone back to Bell for service (or to the garbage).
Bumping and updating.
This may be important to others. It appears that the network location failure is related to the combination of Rogers' network and either (or both) Froyo and network unlocked phones. There is a functional workaround (stopping google framework services and clearing data and caches), but it's really kinda crappy if you have to repeat it frequently.
Anyway, anyone thinking to use an unlocked or Froyo android device on Rogers' network beware; if you want to use network location, anyway.
Well, I know there is a fair-sized community of i9000m users using Rogers on these forums. No one else currently has this issue?
Can we get anyone to confirm that they are using an unlocked Froyo phone on Rogers and do have network location capability?
Really all we need to confirm is:
Network?, OS?, Problem?
Rogers Tech support indicated that they have Froyo devices running without reported problems, but I have my doubts. As far as I know Rogers hasn't carried a device that will have an official Froyo build until the recent introduction of the Captivate and, as far as I know (again) none of the north american samsung galaxy S devices have an official Froyo build yet.
So, no official Froyo on Rogers, and until this month no high-end android devices. SO, any device with tis problem is likely to be unlocked.
I found a post on the following site regarding this issue. Can people with the issue make a post on that thread.

Hopefully Google will see it and take action on their side.

The Tab is out and it runs froyo...
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Huh... I didn't think of that. I may have to eat my words.
Apparently the Acer Liquid e also runs Froyo. I guess that I now have two devices (locked to Rogers and running Froyo) I need to get my hands on.
Does anyone out there have access to either of those devices on Rogers? Can you test the network location?
Repost from another thread:
Someone from Rogers stated they have not blocked any location services on unbranded devices. In addition, some one stated their friend has problems on their Liquid E
http://communityforums.rogers.com/t5...message-id/342
Not just Rogers guys... using unbranded version in the US on AT&T. Location is absolutely hosed!
Will try the fix and report back.
Hi,
I got s advance for my wife 2 weeks ago thinking its the best sub 20k handset in india at the moment. First 2 weeks all was well. But since last 3 days she has been complaining about network loss issues as reported by all here. I even tested it yesterday and put it to gsm only mode. But it seems its still there.
Any body here facing this issue? I googled this and it seems there are a lot of people complaining about the same.

Yes all facing the same problem with galaxy s advance in India. The issue diminishes if you switch to GSM only mode by disabling 3G..
All of us should call and flood samsung with complaints. As of now they are pretending that no issue exists with the phone, despite numerous complaints on their own offiicial website.
Yup today I'm also having this problem ....what the hell...the basic feature of phone connectivity is hampered....
Guys there's new kernel version for those having network and battery issues kindly update your device from settings software update ...new kernel 6mb....kindly enjoy the beast now...who couldn't due to batteryy network and lag issues
Ok guys..what I'm writing plz copy and paste to every blog you know of s advance so that people come to know the reality of network error...first of all...there's no network error on this phone...no come to the topic why we get network error than...ok..in India we have 2 types of network one Gsm and one cdma...and those guys who used Android before..and flashed different countries baseband.remember we had new options in network...not cdma or Gsm we had use 2g only...but this phone with Indian baseband has cdma or Gsm...now we all know cdma service like reliance tata indicom and all..if you use that than put phone on cdma mode...otherwise put on Gsm mode..if you using 3g on Gsm or cdma doesn't matter...add some guy asked me that he using 3g so he put it on auto mode...in auto mode your phone connects to Gsm and calls again after call it's search for both cdma and Gsm network but your sin doesn't support cdma bands so network error again now your phone tries for Gsm and locks your phone...but after some time again it searches for cdma...and of you want to check your phone than put your phone only on cdma mode and try to call...you'll get error msg...network not found...guys relax there's no bug..it's just we were confused...and there's lack of communication between the Korean company with real developers and Samsung care..idiots...actually not there fault...they are just dummies ...they've been told to format flash and of world good otherwise send to head office...do guys all doubts clear..and the who sold there phones...the phone wasn't meant for you and kindly mail to that guy who's signing the refund in Samsung that he should communicate with Korean devs and try to learn what's the real problem and we're it is....guys I guess I I've cleared all doubts...regarding network error...which wasn't there...keep smiling keep enjoying the beautiful gift of life...
This is something happens with almost all android devices with 3G... Maybe.... Because even i face this problem on my galaxy ace plus...
Sent from my GT-S7500 using xda premium
it's true... one thing that might help is to turn network on/off a few times in order to get it working properly again... that's what i do... it doesnt work everytime but it's better than nothing, right?
The problem is not there in the stock jellybean update!

Hi SAdvance, can you please tell me which stock JB update did you use? I used Stock JB for Russia and since then whenever I turn on my data network (Airtel, KA) it loses connectivity to the network and toggles in and out of network every 5 seconds. Any suggestions?

thanx man ......It worked for me.....
DISCLAIMER:
I'm from Belgium and English is not my native language, I am aware that my English is not great so please forgive me.
Hello,
I recieved my HTC One two weeks ago after waiting 2 months. It was a pain in the ass to get the phone.
Here in Belgium the phone is still not for sale so I had to buy the phone on a site from the Netherlands (algebeld.nl).
Now, here is the problem:
I wasn't aware that I was able to recieve 4G LTE in my region until a few days ago, I didn't know this because I never recieved 4G on my phone. Aparently I should recieve 4G and looked into the settings and everything is set to recieve 4G, so my settings are not the problem.
Another thing I noticed was that I am still on older software and didn't recieve the latest update, I'm still on 1.29.111.11.
This concerned me so I did some research and it turns out (not 100% sure though) that my device is branded to T-mobile, even though it is an unlocked device.
So the reason I can't connect to 4G is (I think) the radio module is clocked at a different frequency so I can't recieve 4G.
I was under the impression that I was buying an unbranded device so this kinda blows...
No 4G isn't the only problem, I will also have to wait for OTA's a lot longer.
So my question is:
Is there a way to solve this? I could root my phone in order to get the latest software but still if there comes an update which updates the hboot, it will check my cid and there will be a chance I won't be able to update my hboot and install the update.
If I could just solve the cid problem it would be awesome because 4G isn't THAT big of a deal, but it would be even better if there was a way to recieve 4G or totally debrand my device. I don't know if there is a way to solve this through software since it's the radio module that has a different frequency and that's a hardware problem :s
Anyway, thanks in advance!
Misterthomas32.
Sorry if this has already been posted, I try to search as much as possible before making a new thread.
New N910T owner here, upgraded from N900T but got it second-hand from someone who I assume used JTAG to repair the IMEI. Haven't been able to get LTE at all, no matter what ROM I'm using. (CM based ROMs display H/H+, TW based ROMs display 4G) I odin'd by using the latest NK4 full firmware (found here) and still no avail.
I don't have an old sim card so I ruled that out. I used it with my old N900T and it gets LTE here no problem. For some reason this phone just will NOT connect to LTE. Trying to find a network will lead to a 5-15 minute search eventually leading to "No service."
Attached is a picture of the ServiceMode menu. Not sure what other screenshots or information I need but I'd be willing to provide anything if it can help diagnose my problem. (If it IS a JTAG issue I'm screwed, the person who I got the phone from was shady to begin with, couldn't say no to such a low priced Note 4 though.)
Currently running NK4 on Hyperdrive ROM RLS3 with stock kernel.
Fixed by going into *#0808#, selecting DM + MODEM + ADB and then used QPST/QXDM to fix the target port.
same issue
I was wondering if any fixed the issue, I'm getting the same issue..
Can you be more detailed?
I'm having the same issues a ls the first post diacribes. I bought a phone finding out the one I number was changed, well the phone register but I have issues connecting to the network, and I can't connect to the 4G lte. The second post states that something need to updated but no instructions.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
That doesn't work for my phone, had tried it and no go.
I was wondering how you fix your phone port just like in post 2
I know this is an old post, but did you ever get it resolve?
Hi member Ohmygaa. Accidentally I found your post here and I found it very interesting since I have exactly the same problems with my note 4 tmobile sm-n910t as you described. My phone which I bought on ebay shows no lte only 4g doesn't matter what rom I'm using. Even though Internet shows 4g but it works very slow, can't practically download anything, even websites don't work. Searching for signal every 20 minutes so I'm practically unable to use it. The imei *#06# is different than that on the sticker under battery. So my question is could you be more specific with this fixing of target port ,please? I could try your method maybe it would help to fix my phone? Best regards from NY
Hello friends,
I have the Z for almost two years now, and have had a issue for a long time; here goes:
A long time ago, I started flashing roms, and everything was all right. After a few months I noticed that I had no H+ any more.
Because I thought that the TELE-2 service was horrible I left it. Eventually I thought I was shut off, and because I'm more of a WiFi user, I left the issue.
Now, after a year, I decided to call TELE-2 and they tried to help me restoring my APN settings. Everything was all right but I still can't use 3g.
I can make calls, but as soon as I turn off WiFi, my network connectivity disappears and shows a exclamation mark.
entering *#*#4636#*#* gives me some information, but I'm not sure what to make of it. Roaming is enabled, HTTP client test gives:
FAIL: IOexeption.
I'm thinking this has something to do with my modem/ baseband?
Can someone point me to a correct thread because I'm not even sure what this issue is called.
Or perhaps teach me how to treat network connectivity issues in the future?
If further information is needed I'll fill it in. Remember, I have some knowledge, but I'm still pretty much a noob!
Bump?

Well, I would think you have either unlocked bootloader wrongly (usually slight chance) or flashed wrong FTF/ROM for your device.
Now I would suggest you go to STOCK ROM for your device first. You can flash it via flashtool
You would need FTF from general section and also flashtool which you can get from here
http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
You can search xda for how to use it. If you still have questions, quote me and I would be glad to help

Yes, I tried it already, I found a Dutch Generic FTF, flashed it but it didn't work. If I remember correctly there was a option to only flash the Baseband/Radio.
I expected that something like that was broken and that reflashing the original might fix it. But alas, bad luck. Would it be a good idea to learn how to logcat?
Would it be helpful if I provided these?
Thanks in advance.

On a contract, but warranty doesn't matter. Unlocked Bootloader, Rooted, currently running 5.1 Resurrection.
All right, here goes:
- C6603
- GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900& UMTS/HSPA Bands 1/5/8 & LTE 1/3/5/7/8/20
- SI 1270-4181.6 NL
- S/N: CB5A1TNCA0
Let's hope this suffices. I presume that by flashing a ROM with wrong Baseband in the
past my phone can't communicate with the towers in my area; because every part of the world uses different frequencies?

Can you check which frequencies your network provider uses ?
Usually it's available on their websites. In the mean time I'll look for a ROM you can flash and see if that helps! We might be going to STOCK ROM !
Also check which model does your custom ROM shows!
In the pictures, you can clearly see the difference in basebands between C6602/03 models.

All right. I've tried to find out what frequenties my provider uses, asked around on the forum and it seems no one is willing to help me.
It seems they are not willing to disclose frequency information and keep changing subjects; also when other people ask this question.
This might make things a little harder. Also, you advised me to try out stock again, I'm willing to do this, but I have to say:
I hate Google. I hate them more than anything and would like to leave the stock experience as fast as possible.
Let us see what the steps are I should take now.
- Flash Stock ROM/Baseband
- ???
- Profit
As mentioned earlier, I tried this before, and it didn't work. So I must be missing something. Just in case I didn't explain my self well enough;
I can make calls, I can't use 3G/HSDPA. When using network monitor, everything fails, unless I reconnect with WiFi. My Bootloader is unlocked, and I
am rooted. Resurrection Team uses Evo kernel (Which I hate because it's pretty unstable.), However, My issues predate the kernel by far.
It seems I'm really failing in correctly flashing my device, because there always seems to be something wrong.
Either it gets extremely laggy, or it randomly reboots (2 to 3 times a day. Unable to reproduce.), No audio when calling unless on speaker and a plethora of other issues.
This could also explain why my internet doesn't work. But it seems unlikely for me to fail in correctly flashing my device for 2 years, don't you agree?
EDIT: Can't even use *#*#service#*#*, doesn't work like everything else.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. We love as much information we can have to answer your queries better.
I was trying to find out your network baseband because this would help me establish which STOCK ROM to flash. To inquire about your baseband, call your network provider from your phone and ask them these questions. Tell them you need to know for a phone you bought internationally and want to know if baseband matches or not. They would tell you in a moment.
I am sure you must know alot about flashing but sometimes, some roms are specific for certain models. Like it might be for a different baseband but not for other. Usually flashing roms doesnot play with your basebands but if you got some home brewed rom which is made over stock, this can actually mess up your device. Same goes for kernels if they are directed at a particular model, and it can act differently.
I am not sure why you blame Google as Sony is responsible for producing this phone so maybe enlighten me a bit ?? Sony has got custom UI , not actually Google.
What I would suggest is that flash an older FTF like KITKAT or Jeally Bean to your device and see if it works. Next if it doesnot, update your device using SONY COMPANION and not flashtool. Sometimes this also helps.
By the way do you have an official Sony care near your place ?

I blamed Google, because I genuinely hate them. They step on people, and violate human rights many people died defending. But that's a different story. Alas, I eventually flashed Stock 10.3.1.A.2.67; the first rom my phone came shipped with. It didn't work either. I'm starting to think that something might be broken because I don't have warranty any longer that would be a bummer. But let's continue. I can't use Sony update service because my bootloader is unlocked. And last time I checked it couldn't be relocked right? Also, there isn't anything like a Sony center near me.

Nope, saw a thread coming by this morning, also about TA partitions. I'm afraid that at the time I wasn't aware yet of the TA. Is this really bad or can it still be saved? When flashing
a rom, does it get overwritten?
Also, the SI number on my box says 1270-4181.6, yet the customization version on the phone states that I'm running 1270-4975_R3B. Even though I found a Dutch version.
Is this correct?

TA numbers are device specific and if lost, they can result in WIFI and Bluetooth problems for most users but it is rare. Sometimes relocking bootloader can fix these as well but you said you havenot been able to . Are you connecting in fastboot mode for that using flashtool?
I think you should look at this thread for SI number and try to change it accordingly. Remember only the first link is Xperia Z specific and other links for other devices which might work to change your SI

TA partitions have been successfully repaired by SONY service centres. you can mail them your phone and wait for them to return it back. Make sure you email/call before you dispatch your phone and make details accordingly!
