Can somebody test it on s730? Share your exprerience! Seems to me that it could bring more free RAM, more battery life, speedy reaction
Many new features, f.e.:
* smartphones support
* new black skin
* battery saving
* bluetooth switching on/off during call (also battery saving)
* speed increasing
http://pointui.com
Works well..sometimes a little bit slowly.
I'd locked my S730 by this tool.
Can anyone tell me how to unlock this?
New Features:
Lock screen can now be used on smartphones - you press up then down on dpad.
Yea, I have been using this SW for some hours and i love it!
Has some minor bugs. I cannot keylock the unit as ususal.
Then the home program shuts down. So I have to use the keylock that is built inn to this SW..
But now that I am used to this, it is actually better that the standard.
It also bugs up some times when using Comm Manager, I have not yet figured out when exactly this problem accures,
but Home then sometimes shuts down, and I have to restart the program..
But other than that its perfect. Fast, smooth fading menues, and looks great!

Thanks for your opinion, this SW little bit change the behavior of the HW, but according the programmer´s goal. The previous member contribution is typical, people does not like to read the manuals, sometimes problem is not problem it is a purpose how to use the HW effectively and users are lazy to read the changelogs .

I know what you mean
A little "Tip" if anyone wants to try this program on the S730.
I had to change the HTC Home settings "Time Out" to Never. Or else the it would go back to the original HTC Home after
10 minutes. (Depending on the settings)
Looks nice but too limited for my liking just yet.
Like, I want to be able to see the time AND appointments on the home screen, without having to scroll.
It should have more user-definable input, without having to get out a registry editor. It also needs some work to make it suitable for smartphones, like being able to add stuff to the icon bar on the home screen. Also, the application bar only shows icons in the Start Menu/Programs folder by default. I couldn't see any options to change it, or even a button to move back up the directory tree to where my icons actually are.
A working uninstall procedure would be good too!!
I agree with the mad ferret.
the customization is missing. for example where is the option to create a "favorite apps list"?
i really like its fast responsiveness!!! i wish windows mobile could develop something like that as native windows mobile software. so smooth and with such neat design. why cant they? are they ****ing retarded? instead we get slow menues and ugly lists like on phones of 1998. cant windows work with people wh o can create such amazing software and integrate it natively? cant they develop something like this themselfes? WTF
anyway, pointui is a very amazing piece of software. however, whenever i press "running programs" it freezes.... the update function doesnt work.
i prefer smarttoolkit!!
http://smarttoolkit.softonic.de/windowsmobile
Everything that's supposed to work with PointUI, works for me on my HTC S710/Vox. I do hope for more features and I am sure the developers are hard at work, but what it is now - it can only get better since it's amazing. I hope for it to run at system level, apart from that it's superb so far!
I've been using it for about a week now. I love the clean look, but I'm having one major issue. My number keys and my green key do nothing so I can't call any number that is not in my contacts without going back to the WM Home screen.
Anyone else have this problem? Or better yet, know how I can fix it?
But, yeah other than that I really like pointui. Hopefully the next release comes soon.
I've had a Wing for about a year now (t-mobile). During this time I never really read much about modding the phone and such. However, it is a bit plain and very slow if anything is open.
I've been reading a lot and recently changed the pagepool size and am now working on using PocketMechanic to move stuff to the flash card. I do however have a couple questions:
Should I flash my wing or just optimize how it is now? What is a good home screen I can download that doesn't kill my battery life? What will I be losing if I flash? Do all the ROMs kill my battery life? How can I choose the right ROM for me? I can't decide after reading over a lot of them.
I know someone is going to say use the search. I have and have been reading for hours lastnight. If someone can just help a bit I'd be much appreciated.
i would definatly flash your rom, i would use one of the open touch roms they all have good battery life. flashing your wing is like optimizing without having to take the time to find the programs and do the registry tweaks. a good homescreen i think is spb mobile shell, just make sure you disable smart gestures, i usuall can go around 2.5 days without charging.
Downside?
Are there any downsides to doing this?
Cant think of any downsides, its all for a good cause, oh one downside, you might lose your applications you've downloaded if any. Other than that its WAY better that the original T-Mo ROM
You've been wasting your time using the original stock rom. Flash a new rom (I reccommend ITJE or ASERGs) and you're going to see a 2 fold improvement on your phone immediately.
the one downside is that if you dont follow the directions you could brick your phone
So I tried a number of ROMs today:
-Papa
-Multiple versions of the Open Touch ROMs
Here is my conclusion and thoughts. Perhaps you guys can guide me a bit to a final solution.
They all look beautiful without a doubt. I didn't have any initial problems loading or using any of them except the lock program wasn't locking the volume control. However, just do perform quick tasks like I normally do to lock the phone or go to the comm manager felt like a chore to do. They looked nice, but I had to go through a lot to do anything. The Open Touch ROMs with Throttle Launcher were annoying when viewing mail because you could only quickly see 1 at a time with the large mail that pops up when you click the icon.
I really like the look of the SPG Shell Theme they have right on their homepage, but it's not free. Any of you guys have advice? I use this for work a lot so the mail / calendar / tasks view are really beneficial for me to be viewable at all times like the default theme. This is why I was saying SPG looked nice with whatever theme it is they have on their site.
I will try an Aserg on my phone tomorrow as it looks similar to the default.
Anyways, thanks in advanced for all of the help so far. I really appreciate it.
You'll be very satisfied with Aserg's rom. I look foward to hearing what you think.
Keep in mind, any rom you flash, you'll have to set up a couple of things ... such as the device lock today plugin .. settings, etc ... don't expect a rom to fulfill ALL of your needs from the moment its flashed. When you get into a new car, you still have to adjust the seat, mirrors, steering wheel ..etc.. You can't decide to scrap one car because the mirrors weren't in the position you wanted them to be.
Everything is quiet like the grave... I haven't heard or read a single word if there is anything new in this rom except the tiny bug fixes announced by HTC...
Anybody who already upgraded, have you noticed something new???
Hey
Apart from the official line heres what ive noticed (in twelve hours)
1. Sliding Bar answer on incoming calls
2. Text input keys are smaller so that you can actually see whats on the screen when youre writing (sic)
3. Ever so slight speed improvement on finger sliding
4. Video Call re-replaced with contacts (life saver)
5. Might just be me but the fonts seem sharper and slightly smaller.
6. Add a word in text messaging for example now gives a tick and a cross instead of "add"
Just random little things Ive noticed but as they say, its the little things that count eh!
no more flipping envelope when going to mail it's just there...
and some speed improvements, but in winmo only (not touchflo).
hey just a couple more
7. When connecting to PC via USB you get a 3rd choice - internet sharing (as well as active sync and disk drive)
8. HTC flo text message section now has a forward option as well as reply and delete - no need to view all messages to forward
ill keep you posted (or not if no one is interested)
Thanks for the replies
I feel like the Sliding Bar on answering calls helped me decide to upgrade, even though I'll loose the flipping envelopes
Sliding Bar is good
Ability to forward text message from Touch flo is good
The rest are the icing on the cake!!!
Good luck - I had a bit of a scare with my upgrade last night - it stopped on 60% and told me the image file was corrupt. Worked second time though from the same file???
First bug: if you have activated a security PIN (like me) you can't block the phone keeping pressed the phone down button. The screen goes black for a fraction of second but the phone doesn't block.
Another thing I didn't notice before (so I'm not sure if it was the same in previous versions): you can add only 15 persons to your favorite contacts (the "Add to Favorites" buttons just disappears). BTW, is there any tweak to increase this limit?
its always been 15
I use speed dials - easier and possibly limited to 100 (not sure)
The favourites has always annoyed me - you cant seem to change the order in which they appear and they look boring without a picture (IMO)!
There's also a new Java engine, better than the old one. At least better for Opera Mini 4.2, fonts are now bigger and easier to read.
A recommended update.

My envelopes are flipping fine.... just as they always have!
And for anyone's who's interested; if you've been using any of the cooked ROM's which have been released recently, you won't notice any difference with this official release because the ROM cookers have been using v2.03 for weeks!
9. Agenda from home screen works correct now. Choose the view u'd like to see, (day, week, month whatever) and it will open up correctly right now, when opening Agenda from home screen.
10. When u select agenda or calls on the home screen, it will be selected by green. When u finished looking agenda or calls, and return to the home screen, the green selected option is gone, a clear screen with no green. (before the thing was always green when u turned back, it frustrated me )
Just 2 things i recognized!
I saw it at Singapore web site http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=483&news_id=44

They do indeed, but thanks to Facebook I have pictures for all of my favorite friends...
I'll give a look to speed dial too
with this new rom, i have a problem:
when i receive a message and open it with tf3d i can't type prompt.
i have to move down the text to see the last message and then i have to put the cursor on the correct place.
Its a rom update but is it aswell a radio update?

Noobie question,
As The HTC website won't accept my Orange UK Diamond S/N, would it be okay to download from another source, or do I have to wait until Orange to approve the newer ROM, and publish on their website confused
many thanks

As far I now Orange use a own brand rom and when you start using a other rom you will lose your waranty, ofcoarse you can get a other rom just ask someone here to upload it, but you can use than aswell a coocked rom.

Yeah, correct. Orange will distribute their own ROM's.
11. AKU version has been updated to allow synchronisation to two PC's (fixing the Activesync error 0x86000107).
Hey
A little bug that I found last night - I installed nadavvi-nadavvi-call-history cab - which installs an extra call history tab to the touchflo menu
Afterwards everytime i tried to access sms through touchflo i kept getting unexpected errors in manila.exe.
As soon as i uninstalled the call history tab sms started working again. Shame as i had this installed with the older rom with no probs and it is quite handy.
I've decided to do the upgrade tonight but I have a question:
All my apps are installed in the 4GB Internal Storage (Not the phone memory). Will the Internal Storage be viped out aswell during the upgrade?
If not, I guess all apps will be useless anyway since the registry is viped. Do you recommend uninstalling all the apps before the rom upgrade???
Hi all! I've just acquired a X2 last week in Singapore & i'm struggling to comprehend it. I've also printed out the online manual which helped me abit. Other than that, I'm really stuck.. Here are the following questions.
1. Does it support Chinese characters? I hope it does because I do need to sms Chinese characters
2. Am I able to change my sms alert tone? I cant find it & the default tone is nearly inaudible. I have to check once a while.
3. Does it have a battery indicator? Probably my favorite theme is Tilewave but theres no indicator at the top right. I have to change to the theme where the background shows the ocean.
4, I realized that the ringtones are soft. My previous phone, G900's ringtone was very loud
5. Is there a short cut key where I can customize my most used programs?
6. I cannot store or edit my contacts. It kept appearing SIM full when my SIM is on 3/5 full.
Thanks for your help.

+1 me too (>_<)
1. Have no idea.
2. Yeah you can change the tone. Its in the settings, in sound and notfications and then in notifications open the drop menu saying event and check out 'messaging:text message' and change your tone. You can add new ones by putting them in the windows folder, might have to be .wav
3. Not sure, it might be cos you put the clock on so it won't show the battery, on some 6.5s they only have one at a time. You can change it by deselecting Display clock in taskbar in the clocks and alarms menu.
4. Thats not a question, but other than turning in up, you can just change to a louder ringtone. Or use some hacks like audiopara, but not sure if it works on X2.
Not sure about the other two questions cos im a bit lazy, but for sure there are answers
do you have the spb panel on your X2?? i use that to custome the layout and have all my favorite programs where i want them. its free so should already be on your phone. if it isnt then check that you have the latest firmware. you can download more panels from the panel screen options.
with the spb layout theres a nice large green battery icon showing the exact charge of the battery an alternative is to download "ArielBattery" a free utility that sits in top left of the screen. it shows the percentage of the battery at all times. you just copy the .exe into the startup folder on your phone and thats that. you can get it here
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-ariel-battery-monitor-v1-6-2.html
with the spb panel you can extensively customize all the screens with themes and theres a built in contacts program too. should cover all your needs.
As for favourite programs:
Without any 3rd party software
it's all accessible via SE Panels.
You can set up to 50 favourite programs there.
Thanks for all your replies. I've contacted Sony Ericsson Singapore
I can go to the service center to install my Chinese characters
He also taught me a small trick. I realized the batt drains very quickly. So he taught to take out the batt & charge the 'internal batt' for about an hr or 2. Then insert the batt & give it a full charge. That should fix the problem.
um theres an internal battery?? lol.

Thats what the customer service, a so called 'internal batt'. Im not sure though. I just send in my hp yesterday for an update firmware, Chinese characters installation.
If it still does not do the magic for me, I'll wait till x10 is launched, I'll get that.
i think its unlikely it has an internal battery.... doesnt really make sense. if it did have one then its probably just for keeping basic information like time and date etc. shouldnt affect the power of the main battery. worth a try though, if it improves battery life then let us know
Alright...
But my mind seems to lean towards X10. Kinds regretted getting the X2. But I'll keep my fingers crossed at the moment.
I believe If I were to get X10, X2's trade-in value is still there
X2s still fetch a good price. but maybe hold on until the first firmware update and see what you think then. its meant to be arriving in march.
I've decided to pass my X2 to to my wife when X10 is launched. She will take over it & give me some money to top up for X10. Im just not a win mobile man...
I've received it from my service center. Now Its not as lag as previously.
Theres no way that I can use the stylus to write chinese characters. I have to use 3rd party software. W T F!!!!!!!!
Hi,
Could you tell me if there is any hack (not TP application like, for example Full Screen Caller ID) to replace the call screen of 2.3 firmware based devices? Like replacing the .apk or something..
I really like the ICS call screen, but that's actually one of the only things I'd like to change on my CM7 ROM. The incredible speed can't be replaced with any features list or graphical tweaks in my personal opinion.
So, one more time, to make myself clear:
I want to have the ICS call screen instead of the old 2.x.x FW one, but I don't want another program to overlap/interact/slow down/bug the call screen.
Thanks
so I guess it can't be done.
can you at least tell me if I'm posting in the right area? thanks.
cool. looks like I have my own space here. no one cares what I'm saying, no one watches, no one intervenes.

very helpful.
not a waste of time at all.
no sarcasm either.
