I would like to know to owner who have DHD and O2X..which one is your most favourite smartphone? and why you choose it?
I had both phone, and i get confusing which one is better. My O2X is better in term of speed, but i dislike its interface software, i prefer more on htc sense.
so what do you think?

of curse the 2X
i rooted the device and deleted the lg software - using Lauchner Pro and its more than smooth...
i prefer the 2X display, 'cause it is not so big and much better/more beautiful !
only the battery drain makes the angry i got a bug - app '0' causes the drain... hope lg will fix it in the next update
all in all the 2X is the best device for me, currently
Compared the 2 today, the screen on the O2X is way better, and although the dhd has a very nice unibody, both phones feel very sturdy. I don't really like sense but it's definitely better than the lg UI. Personally i always install adw/ launcherpro. Where the O2X really shines though is gaming, it just destroys the dhd. One thing i really like about the dhd is the music player, not sure if you can install it on the O2X..

Pros of the O2X vs DHD
*The screen is so much more colorful.
*Battery life is just as good or better.
*Touch screen is better(Try slowly drawing a straight line fron the upper right corner to the lower left corner on DHD. You cant, it will be wavy).
*No HTCsense.com that still doesnt work after 6 month!!(This would be a minus if it had worked).
*Gestures! Instead of those silly arrows in the bottom of the HTC stock keyboard, the tapping on the side of the O2X works great, without taking up keyboard space. Great for curser moving if you want it to be accurate.
*The curved edges of the glass screen.
*Speed in the every day use neither phones lag. Games run more smooth though. Never experienced frame drops on O2X as I sometimes did on DHD.
*Front Camera: For when ever skype comes out with video chat for android..
Better on DHD:
*Weather widget and better widgets(didnt know the setup widgets was from HTC, but LG doesnt have it)
*Disable mobile view funtion in browser settings
*Previous/next page function in browser
*Notification/Charging LED
*Native flashlight/torch app!
*15 minutes delay on the password screen(Have to do it EVERY time on the LG, or none at all).
*Very good "Auto" brightness setting on the screen!(O2X is just like the Desire, too bright when its dark).
*OTA Updated via Mobile Data also(not just wifi like O2X)
I went back and read my initial reactions from when I just got it, and they are listed here too. A funny thing that I just noticed after reading through my post is that most of the stuff I like about my O2X is hardware, and most of the stuff I miss from my DHD is software related(and most of them can be solved by downloading free apps/widgets from the market).
Im not going to count software bugs and stuff, while in the daily day life the DHD was more "stable", htcsence.com never worked and sometimes I lost ALL my text messages, so it wasnt that perfect. Between HTC and LG´s software I would reccomend HTC to newbies and people that dont like messing around with settings, trying out new apps and such.
Oh and any user interface(Sense or whatever) is inferior to Go Launcher EX imo(and other launchers). That is why I only count widgets and menu points as something that adds value. Before I tried anything else than Sense, I thought the UI was good, but in reality is not all that.
Maybe i already get use to DHD after 6 month use it and not familier to ui of lg. Anyway, thank you guys for all your review. Keep it coming.
Thanks.

most things you find better on the dhd can also be changed or made working on the o2x
allthough the software widgets made by htc are native on the phone when you buy it there are lots of good alternatives for people that dont have a htc like there is a free backlight led app in the market, and beatiful widgets has the same clock/weather widget htc has if you find a propper skin for it.
the browser issue can be fixed with a 3rd party browser(dolphin w/e) allthough native non mobile page viewing would be really nice to have in the stock browser...
there isa custom made notification light for the o2x now which can be downloaded from somehwere here aswell.
the lockscreen can be changed with 3rd party software and there is a feature to change the pw refresh rate with this aswell.
so most of the things that were better on the dhd can be good on the o2x aswell but you just need to digg around a bit and it doesnt come native once you open the freshly bought phone but it can be tuned and tweaked to have the best of 2 worlds
just like to add that my previous phone was a dhd and i made the move to the o2x the second it came out and i never missed my htc since i got my o2x.

Well, we can safely say that the IPS screen beats the Super Lcd, and hardware wise the O2x wins as well, in design too, but not in software though.
IMO: Desire HD's screen was ghosting, and it was too heavy and big.
Also i didn't like holding the O2x, badly designed by LG.

i like the way the phone is in my hands ...
untill i get sweaty hands
the dhd metal feel feels like a tank but it's big ... like a tank
the lg feels like it's made for humans untill it gets hot and sweaty .. unlike a tank

Yes, you were right my friend, interm of display O2X way better than DHD. I like DHD size 4.3“. Oh why oh why lg did not apply using 4.3“ screen. IPS screen 4.3“. WOW!!

Here a few point why i dislike my LGO2X..
1) its sms font is too big, difficult for me to see one long sms in single page. Its sms ui also too fancy to me..not suitable for corporate person like me.
2) its weather can not set update freq and location. I have to go to setting to update manually get current location.
3) its does not have restart option. Although many software in market, but all required to root. I dont want to root my phone since i dont want to lost my warranty, especially with reboot problem i face on O2X.
4) its camera sound during taking picture is ugly same like my old N95 phone (cheap phone).
5) its dont have data connection short cut. I have to go to
setting to activate it manually. There is software from market, but i already try all and it sometime function and not. I check setting, but data connection nothing change either i activate or deactivate the shortcut software download from market. Its look like its over write or something.
6) OTA update only available through wifi. Not mobile connection. How about if i dont have wifi in my house? But i have mobile connection data plan with my provider. Meaning this data plan is useless!! No meaning i pay my bil monthly to my provider if i can not use it to the limit!!
Thats all until now..i will edit more when i found others thing that i though. ;P

1) Just use another SMS program then, I use handcent on all my android devices anyway.
2) I agree
3) I use LG 2X recovery boot from the market to reboot my phone.
4) just goto settings/shutter sound and CHANGE it for one you like then.
5)I use apn droid to turn on/off my data.
6)OTA update is working over the air for some networks, this is just network dependent not device dependent.
My mate has the DHD and is a bit of a noob, so when I have to use his phone to find things on the web for hime I actually cringe at the speed or should I say the slowwwwwnessss of the web surfing on it. We tried miren that I use on my O2X on his DHD but it was still as slow as hell, and thats even before flash sites kick in.

+1 I'd rather prefer blinkfeed over facebook. At least I get to have alot more choice with it. And I maybe a facebook user but I don't want it being shove in my face everytime I open my phone lol!
doesnt hurt to try out facebook home? maybe thats the solution to the horrid facebook app!

I, personally, will be trying it out. I don't think there is any harm in giving it a go, if it's fluid and fast I don't see the problem. The only thing I can say in regards to it not being released on the One, is possibly HTC's secrecy over the device. I highly doubt HTC would want to risk a full-device leak, though we had plenty during development probably just doesn't support 1080P, as it's not on the DNA either.

Facebook have teamed up with Qualcomm to optimize and make the launcher much more power efficient. It should use minimum RAM and minimum battery when operating on a Qualcomm device, which is the HTC One .
Stop hating people, you have a choice weather you get it or not. This is Android, not iOS.
@jaaystott I totally agree with you
I dont understand whats with this hate of FB apps: ok i get you dont use FB, you dont like being ''spied'' by the FBI etc but i am talking about a new development here
is hybrid between an app and a OS..it could bring improvements or not, thats to find out
also im pretty sure 90% of the one's yelling they dont use fb or will download, will at a point download it and try it....lets face it, and stop being so precious
There has been a lot of work involved in developing this hybrid and the fact that they choose HTC to deploy it, should mean we will get the best of it
of course no one is forcing you to use it or try it, but dont make everyone who is curios or wants to try it - feel like they are somewhat weird
I am very interested to try to lockscreen, because lockscreens on android are horrible. yes there are so many themes and cool looking ones.. but functionality wise, they alls suck! why iOS shows all notifications from all apps i choose and then i can just open the ones i like. on android its a mixed experience. some apps shows. some dont.. (gmail doesnt for example). Facebook seems to solved this problem by merging all notification on their homescreen and make it more useful.
I really want to try it, and like the idea, although, in the downloadable version, it will block android notifications (sms, email, apps), which i personally think is a stupid idea, so in order to get it at any realistically usable level, we'd need a port of the first's rom.
http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2013/04/facebook-home-download-ignores-androids-notifications/
Blinkfeed surely is enough. It's bad enough on there
'Just ate a curry yum yum'
Or watch this it's hillarious type crap

This is my second "Try" at the android world. I tried out that HTC one X+ last year and had nothing but problems and switched to an Iphone 5.
I am having an issue receiving texts from iphone users (working on that now). Other than that i'm pretty happy with the phone. Speaker quality is a little worse however I expected that. Audio quality while playing through play music was better than iphone IMO (big suprise there).
The otterbox seems well built, however the one for the Iphone 5 is a nicer product, any recommendations for a similar case? I'm a big fisherman and clumsy guy so who knows what will happen.
I still have the crappy camera update (ATT) so I will post some side by side pics there. Any tips on apps other than the normal fb/reddit?
Thanks!

Your receiving texts from iPhone users is probably them being sent to your iMessage account by default... but seems like you might already be aware of this.

Give it time for the cases to come out. Welcome to android. I'm using qmadix case which is a pretty good build but it doesn't have the rugged otter box protection. Also, if you take the time to learn about everything your new phone can do over the iphone you don't ever switch back. Not that iphones aren't amazing because their product is great but if you like making your phone the way you like it, android is the way to go. Most of the apps are pretty similar unless you root your phone and start tweaking it. Maybe someone else knows more android only type apps.

came here to say this. When my gf's mom switched she had the same issues and Apple didn't even want to help her. She kept telling them her msgs won't come through because they are going to imsg and now she has a galaxy. Apple basically told her it's an android phone and blew her off.
When my gf updated I turned imsg off before had and she hasn't had a single issue. May be a PITA but either get apple customer service to turn that feature off in your acct or get an iOS device on wifi and enable/disable it.

Swype is the main reason I switched from an iphone 5 back to android lol. That, and Moto X is a beautiful piece of hardware.
I type like a handicap without swype. It's the original way I learned how to type on a smartphone lol. I can also swype a lot faster with one hand then most people type with two.
I don't like Android at all, but being able to type fast is more important to me for the time being.
Android itself is a flawed OS. If it wasn't for XDA I would have never owned an Android device. A lot of the developers on here create tweaks, ROM's, hacks that enhance the device in simple intuitive ways, so much that it puts Google to shame (yea I said it). I mean how in the bloody hell has volume button longpress to change track NOT been implemented in all official ROM's yet? It's so intuitive, easy to implement, test and apply. They built a trillion dollar empire selling the only mobile operating system that still lags in 2013 on EPIC hardware - mind you. I'm sure 99% of people on XDA will disagree with me because MOST people don't notice these things. But for me it drives me absolutely bananas when any 6-$700 Android device in 2013 has less GUI fluidity (in both OS and third party apps) then my first generation dual core Athlon64 PC with 1GB single channel ddr1 memory. I built that system in 2005. Comparing any Android device to any WP7.5, WP8 or ios4+ device in terms of transition animation fluidity and vertical scrolling fluidity is downright embarrassing.
I suppose that's what happens when you build an empire on top of a a landfill
Given, the Moto X is definitely the best Android device released to date IMHO.

apple builds one os for one phone with one set of hardware for a pretty similar customer base generally. google builds one OS to send to 100s of phone companies for thousands of phones with millions of different piece of hardware. Those phone companies then implement their own layers of software over it. The way the process is just makes it more difficult. While I agree on some points with you, I think they do a pretty good job considering what they are up against. If google makes an os with all of the tweaks gismos and gadgets then trys to send it to the phone companeis and deal with making what they want to do work with what google's OS does, there would probably be way more issues than we currently have.
edit: I made many generalizations so feel free not to pick and choose little tid bits of info to say how I'm wrong because it was more of just a general synopsis as opposed to an exact layout of how things are.

I agree.
I'm not trying to be a **** but like... that explanation, that issue, that situation won't make my phone any faster. I understand there are reasons for this problem. But the problem is not fixed.
Come to think of it look at Windows Phones man. WP7.5 and 8 are pretty much the most fluid operating systems I've ever tried, regardless of device. You can find low, mid and high end WP devices. And they are all fluid, responsive and don't drop frames or stutter when scrolling vertically. Not always for the super low end models but you get my point. And I've tried the low end ones in the store as well. If there's one thing MS got right in the smartphone world, it's definitely the fluidity. I'm sorry but if MS can do it, Google could do it as well. But let's face it, you know as well as I do that companies won't change unless people stop buying. And most people don't seem to mind the lack of fluidity and if they do they are using iphones.
And another issue is the lack of...quality play store apps - even the popular ones with 10m+ downloads. Because that dev environment is not as restricted as ios, you see a lot of popular apps like the NOTORIOUS Facebook that takes us back to our windows 95 days where smooth scrolling was a rare phenomenon. In fact I can most likely count on one hand, the amount of times in a day that I have scrolled vertically in FB app without any lag/frame drop/stuttering. People want to say that this is not Google's fault. How is it not their fault if they ALLOWED these poorly done ios ports to make it on the Google Play Store by not posing that many restrictions.
You're absolutely right about the apps. Is really bad. There are some gorgeous android apps that conform to android design guidelines, but most of the main, most popular apps are nothing but iOS ports and look and run like sh*t on android.
As far as fluidity goes, I'm just not seeing it. I have zero lag on the moto x. I didn't have any lag on my nexus 4 either. If you're talking about scrolling in the browser, try dolphin or some other browser.

Yes the over all UI is fast. Google did a really good job in that but my concern is about the apps that i use on day to day basis like facebook and twitter. May be coming from an iphone 5 caused this issue as everything on it was buttery smooth not the same in the case of android. There is a third party app for twitter like echofon which is super smooth as in ios but official apps still suck. I hope this would change in coming days. Facebook in browser is smooth and app sucks with dropped framerate and lag.
I have some specific examples:
open dialer, stutters once halfway through the transition animation, regardless if it was running in the background or not
open email, stutters once near the end of the transition animation. opened email again, got a graphical glitch where it bypassed the transition animation completely
scrolling in gmail stutters sometime depending on scroll speed. mid to high speed scrolling stutters. only drops one frame it seems but I can notice it
the first time you start Settings, it skips a frame in the transition animation, after that it's smooth
in google drive if you click on an item and click back, it bypasses all transition and loading animation and roughly reverts to the previous screen
scrolling in sms app drops frames at certain points in scrolling. not as much as other apps, but it definitely does it
scrolling through my alarms slow to mid speed results in back to back stutters until the scrolling stops.
maps stutters when you press locate button while it speeds to your current location. also stutters during transition animation on first open. The ios app google maps is FLUID and butter smooth
gmail widget froze for 1 second while scrolling
Play store stutters consistently while scrolling.
The number of apps that stutter/lag on my iphone 5 (100+ apps) = 0 (zero)
I can't be the only one that notices these things.

I don't do Facebook anymore, but when I did, I used friendcaster... It was very very smooth and had more features.

I'm not kidding when I say I really don't notice but that is probably just because I don't care that much. Scrolling animation I do care about, but I just don't really notice that bad of scrolling animation for much. I mean I hate facebook but I don't use that. And chrome just launched recently so I'm actually pretty impressed with its fluidity at this stage in the development.
But for all that stuff I still think it goes back to my original post. I really don't know how many phones are running windows operating system but I don't feel like it is a lot. They also don't get android apps do they? aren't they getting windows base apps so they don't have to deal with all the issues that come with letting people create apps.
To the issue of google not moderating their app's in google play the way apple does. Apple has one or 5 phones with standard hardware. You will see apps that run perfectly on one android phone but not another. I don't believe google would be able to set criteria that would make all android apps work perfectly on all thousand of devices with thousands of different softwares on them. I'm not saying android are better, as much as I'm saying apple has it so easy. Google can't even control all the software phone companies overlay on their android OS or what hardware they use.
Finally, Ill take the bad with good. I prefer an open app market where someone can create something like better battery stats just because they felt like it and not have to jump through a million hoops. Turns out i has become extremely useful. And if the app sucks let it die. Don't use it. Capitalism lol.
But clearly no one can argue that apple products are not smoother and won't always be smoother than android products. Arguments can be made for nexus and other phones that are built purely for the android OS, but the apps being developed are being developed to work on all android products not just stock android Nexus's so they still will get lag from certain things.
Windows phone is different, closer to iOS. Remember Microsoft forces any manufacturer who makes a wp device to use a specific CPU, specific ram, etc. The OS is written for one device configuration, and just the screen tech can change. Same as Apple basically. I remember when all windows phones were forced to use the Qualcomm 1ghz snapdragon which let's the OS be perfectly optimized to the hardware.

You're not the only one, most Android users are in denial or have never given the iPhone a chance, I was one of those Android users until I picked up an iPhone 4 a few years ago to resell and decided to give it a try before getting rid of it. I have since had the 4S and the 5. All throughout, I tried going back to android with the GS2, GS3, GS4, Nexus 4, HTC One X, HTC One and now the Moto X. The full Samsung lineup was just terrible and laggy, couldn't stand using either of them for over a week, the HTC one was pretty smooth and the UI was bearable but the phone was physically awkward, the Nexus 4 lasted a day but only because it didn't have LTE, the Moto X is the best Android experience I have had all around, only complaints are attention to detail from Motorola like the wifi icon gap and the terrible AT&T logo (all can be fixed on a rooted device). I see myself hanging on to this phone for a while (I hope). Might just get a 5S for a second device though.

I actually find the inverse to be true. The vast majority of android users I know all started out on iOS, myself included... However few iOS users I know have ever tried Android... Perhaps for a day or two then reverted.
The plane fact is that Google/Android does not control the manufacturers desire for hardware, wherein, both wp and apple have a strict doctrine for hardware specs... Even with Windows phones, many have very similar specs or types of hardware technologies that wp7 are specifically designed for. Look what happened when wp7 launched... Nothing was supported, app wise, from previous os versions... This speaks to how much wp is compartmentalized, even though it appears to have a variety of device choices.
This is the trade off that we Android users accept, a truly vast array of device types, having virtually any pick and combination of hardware we want, with an endless supply of new devices, but this leads to fragmentation... Jb really targeted this issue and has done amazing things to close the software compatibility issues between devices from both ends of the spectrum... And I believe it will only get better with each new android version.
Personally, I'll take a little stutter hear and there ( haven't seen a touch of it with the moto x btw) than be told what hardware and what software I can have...

Hello all. Had the N6 for a couple of weeks now and love this phone like I loved my last Nexus (the N1).
Only problem I've got is that my progeny like the simplicity of their iOS devices. I work away from home for long periods so I like to message them when possible. I picked up an ipad a couple of years ago for this purpose but really dislike the whole fiasco of keep track of two devices that have completely incompatible OSs.
The wife doesn't want me to set up a Google+ profile for the kids either so I'm looking for a solution that would allow me to message them from my N6 to their imessage accounts...
I found http://imessageonandroid.com/ but I'm leery of the need to side load what I would think should just be on the play store if it's so wonderful. I don't see any justification for side loading on their site either.
Anyone ever used it or know of another solution that I can seek out that doesn't involve the young one's creating more online accounts?
Thanks in advance.
If they have a gmail account you could use hangouts. You don't need to make a G+ to go with it and hangouts seems to be good for most people.
You won't find an iMessage solution. You will need to stick with something else that is cross platform. A few are Hangouts, Telegram, Whatsapp (You might need a telephone # for this one), and plenty of others.
Both my 3 and my 5 year olds, both with iPads, call me through hangouts almost nightly. They haven't grasped the whole messaging feature yet, but I work nights so its how I say goodnight to them sometimes. I'd say hangouts is your best, most full featured option.
My better half also enjoys iOS with her iPhone 6, she, however, hates hangouts and will only download it on her phone if I ask her to for a quick video chat.

I know everyone's usage is going to be different, but just curious anyone else's thoughts on this.
Been using the S6 for a solid week now.
I'm in love with it. For now I'm even happy without root, with a few exceptions:
The video MMS: I can't send anything thats more than like, 3 seconds? I know, I can set the "limit for MMS" option but that sucks! The quality shoots wayyy down. My wife and I can send HD 2 minute clips of the kids, etc through each others iPhone 6 without a hitch. I'd like to be able to take a nice video and send it to someone!! Even emailing the vid it has to be less than like 8-10 seconds. And when a video is received from anyone the quality is horrendous. Pixelated junk that can hardly be made out. I don't want to have to upload to a drive service, send them a link to the video, etc. I just want to shoot and send!
Battery: Hasn't been that bad, but far from impressive. Ill charge to 100% around 11pm, go to bed, and wake up with it at 88%. that 88% runs down to 49-52% by lunchtime. I don't do much at work besides listening to a few podcasts (saved to device, not streaming), checking a few emails, and some light web surfing. I need to plug it up at lunch time to keep it up the rest of the day.
thats the main 2 things I'd like root for, optimization of battery and a workaround on that MMS limit, just a friendly discussion if anyone has thoughts.
I don't have the s6. Thinking about it, the Note 4, or the M8/M9. I have the venerable S3.
You may have already done this, but I use Handcent and it has a setting to push the MMS limit to 1.2 MB. That may help. Can't recall if stock messenger has that setting feature.
When I get a pic or video from my daughter (of my adorable grandkids) I find that if you save it to SD card, exit out of messenger app, and then view it in Gallery, it often is much better.
Yes I agree, my iPhone 6 sent video with no issues, can anyone help us. I really love this phone but why can't we send a video

I can't help with the video MMS, I have never tried to send.
As for the battery life, make sue you have the latest Google Play Services installed. There is a thread in the General section you can get the download from. You should not be loosing that much over night. Also make sure you uninstall/disable any apps you do not use. After about a week the battery life should even out and improve. This might not have any merrit, but I always try to run the battery down, shut the phone off and let it charge to 100%.

Almost any method of sending messages over internet will work for video. It's just the phone carriers who limit data on their network. imessage on iPhone is essentially a web based messenger. Your options on Android include (but not limited to) Facebook messenger, Google hangouts, and whats app messenger. All of these will send videos no problem.
Use Hangouts. Does your wife have a Google account? If so, that should work a lot better for sending pictures and video because it'd be sending it over the internet instead of SMS/MMS

My understanding is that these batteries will wear more quickly if you run them down completely. I think it's better to find a happy medium of charging somewhere in the middle. Of course that's not always a possibility or ideal.
I came across this site, which may or may not be a good source, but it echoes ideas I've seen elsewhere, including these forums.

Yeah, I just tried to sending a vid for kicks, but unless I'm mistaken, you can't send videos in Hangouts. If there is a way, I have no clue, since I never send video to people.
EDIT: Google has a messaging app separate from Hangouts called Messenger, but I've never tried it. You might be able to send vids in the Messenger app. Only used Hangouts and the default messaging app on my phone. I would link to it, but as of this post, I don't have enough posts to post links.

Modern lithium batteries wear down in measurements called cycles. That being said going from 100% to 0% to 100% is cycle. Here's the the rub though, you can go 100% to 50% and charge it back to 100% and it isn't a full cycle it's a half cycle. Either way the battery will wear the same and yield the same power output during its life span any way you use it.

With Whatsapp, you have to pay for the service after the 1st year. It's only $0.99/year, but keep that in mind. Some people don't wanna pay for apps in general, so thought I should put it out there.
I have messenger and I don't see a option to send videos either.android need something like imessage ASAP
To send video always is problem, have same myself. Some app allow you to send it but only short videos, up to 30 seconds for example, which is nothing. Also, big problem for S6 I have is with battery which is down verry fast, must filled every day (sometimes I do it twice a day because I use it often. Good thing about Galaxy S6 is that is pretty "sturdy" and quality (just watch this test, lol), which is really important to me because sometimes I am really "clumsy". At the end of the day, "almost perfect" is great name for thread about this phone.

Click on the lil paperclip, then just scroll down to the video. Click on the vid, then you should be able to send it.
