I am about to buy a new SGS and was told by a friend that this phone comes with two types of batteries and one of them lasts longer than the other. Can anyone confirm on this and also what types are there and how to tell which one will last longer?
Secondly I need your honest opinion being a user of this phone, that should I buy this phone or not. I have been using HTC Hero, then a X10, then HTC Desire (I really loved this phone) and now am thinkng about getting a SGS. So what do you guys suggest.
i have SGS i9000 it comes with 1500mA battry
its nice phone just wating for froyo update
Mines is a lithium battery 1500mah
It is a really nice phone, but it's riddled with so many problems at the moment. We're all currently waiting patiently for Samsung to release an official FroYo. Just scan through the android development board and you'll see what they are.
i think the OP is talking about the G7 vs. G8 vs. G9 markings
those are just country specific but all 3 are compatible they are all 1500 mAh
is it possible that some SGS have lithium ion and other have lithium polymer. and I guess lithium polymer lasts a bit longer. can that be identified on the battery.

I dunno, can you provide a link to support that?
As far as I know the only difference is the way they are built. Poylmer can be made thinner from what Ive read..but since most phone batteries nowdays seem to be lithium ion then why dont they use polymer ones instead? Maybe we could have higher capacity batteries that still fit in the phone? (Unlike the 3000mah and 3200mah ones you can get that require a custom back cover cause the battery is so thick).
Whats the benefit of the lithium ion ones then? Both have no memory effect so..
I read it somewhere, not sure where, that one lasts longer than other. maybe It was li-Poly lasting longer or Li-Ion, not sure. Since both types are in use in different mobile phone i.e. Desire has Li-ion and X10 has Li-Poly.
When a friend said that threre are two types used in SGS so I thought that these may be li-ion and li-poly. Maybe he was refering to the different codes written on the batteries, as also mentioned by @AllGamer. Thats why I asked the question here, that if what my friend said is true, then which one is better. Or maybe its just a difference due to different regions just like the back covers differ in different regions. I have seen two back cover on I9000, the UK set has Samsung and Google written on the back. where as saw one from UAE and it had Samsung written and a droid character logo in place of Google, just like the brasilian version.

Highly imitative fake original defy battery. Most visible difference is found on the bottom of battery (top: original, bottom: fake)
In what sense is it 'fake'?
Plenty of reputable and reliable third-party batteries aren't 100% physically identical to the manufacturer's own ones but that doesn't make them 'fake'.

It is branded motorola.
Thanks for clarifying - it wasn't clear from either this thread of the one you linked to that that was definitely the case.
For Example the amperage is lower than the Original one, not even 1000mA - which means, less production costs.
Any one purchased Qcell external battery? Is it better than Zerolemon?

You could always go for a battery case, I picked one up myself and detailed some points about it in my thread here...
It would seem to be about half the capacity of the external battery but at least always with you?

I went to both companies product page, but I didn't see a version listed for the G2. Do you have a link?
Anybody know if the 3220 mAh battery is compatible with the xt1103? Apparently our model has the 3025 mAh battery but I want to know if I can put the bigger battery from the xt1100 in mine. My battery life has decreased significantly so that's why I'm replacing the battery

Scratch my previous comment... I didn't realize that you were referring to the US and International versions...
Lol all good
Just got my Note 8 (Vodafone, Netherlands), and where i expected SM-950F it is the dual sim version, SM-950F DS
Another surprise is the battery size; expected 3300 mAh but CPU-Z lists it as 3500 mAh ?
Can anyone confirm this or are all models 3500 mAh?
If you want to check battery size go to settings/about phone it should say on the very bottom. It's a new phone and maybe cpu-z is misreading the data.
