[Q] FM Radio in Viper - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Odds are high that this is the wrong forum, but I haven't posted enough to ask this in the HTC One Dev forum:
Trying to get the FM Radio Widget back into VenomRom for this phone. Tried a manual restore through Titanium and no dice. I may be one of those few that uses their FM Radio, as I listen to NPR live on my bus ride to/from work.
Running VenomRom w/ Nova Launcher.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
If it helps, I'm not a newbie, I'm simply not a dev.

Google Voice app crashes on Mytouch 3g Fender edition

Hey guys,
I just got my T-Mobile Mytouch 3G Fender edition last night and it's been brilliant apart from this one bug mentioned in title.
One of the main reasons I wanted this phone was to use an Android based phone and then to use the integrated Google voice app. However, unfortunately everytime I launch the app it crashes and "Force Quit" option comes up.
Does anybody know of a workaround for this? If so, please let me/other users know. Thanks!
All help is much appreciated.
I would also like that, it seems to happen with a few roms.
Check out this thread http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=6503 The fix is to install the Voice 0.2 apk. I tried it and Google Voice is not force closing.
Yea its pretty much a widespread issue with all Fenders and all MT3G v1.2, and currently the only work-around (hardly a 'fix') is to downgrade to 0.2, 0.3 is still broken and has been for several weeks now.

[Q]Nexus Desktop Dock on NXSense 1.26?

Hey all,
First off, I'd like to say i posted this question on evil's NXsense rom thread already, but that thread is pretty dead. I was just wondering if it was possible to regain the nexus one desktop dock bluetooth audio capabilities again.
the only thing i found after searching was this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5721627
can anyone confirm this working?

Try it for yourself... just download a Froyo ROM and pull the apk out of it, then install it on your phone with Sense and see if it works.
just tried, i pulled the clock.apk from TheOfficialNexus1 rom, and installed it. so now i have the stock nexus one clock app, but it doesn't trigger the dock to pair with the phone. any ideas as to which apk(s) it would be? i'm determined to figure this out. any ideas as to how to find out? im currently flashing TheOfficialNexus1 rom on my phone and using a task manager to see what new task pops up when i dock my phone.

I have no clue, but thanks for checking. I'd bet that it's a framework issue. I'm not a coder, but it would be cool if someone made an app that triggered the HTC Desk Clock on docking... it's much nicer than the stock one.

Found this on the net long while. Can't rmb where, and I didn't make it. But it works!
but i was playing around a bit with the framework and I managed to achieve the same result without the apk (result as in the deskclock coming up when charging), but still no audio.
so... after a couple days of cooking and testing, i still haven't managed to get the dock working on the nxsense v1.26. however i did find some info like http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=ke...334736426c8b33;hb=android-msm-2.6.29-nexusone
Maybe it's in the kernel + all the files listed at the beginning of the code? if there are any chefs willing to help teach me a few things, i'd like to start cooking for the nexus one. just need a helping hand to get started. i've had past cooking experience with winmo for the kaiser, but thats about it.

FM Radio app for cm7?

I flashed cm7 but i don't have any FM radio apps can anyone help me thanks.

tunein radio
try tunein radio it works fantastic and you can get any station you want and also picks up local using the built in radio so going under ground you won't lose connection which is nice most are just 3g only radios so its nice to have this one
CM7 doesn't do FM radio at the moment, same problem as A2DP.
If you install an FM app from the Market it will scan and pick up stations fine (even show RDS) but you get no sound. Just have to wait 'til the HAL arrives.
Just to clarify - we need to wait for LG to open source the hardware abstraction layer code that we need for the drivers for the various modules, eg FM radio, bluetooth etc? None of what nvidia has already open sourced is any use because it doesnt relate to the particular implementation of Tegra 2 as used in the Optimus 2X?
So we need to put pressure onto LG? Just want to make sure that I understand, because I want to email them about it. I think the more of us that email them, the higher the likelihood that something will happen.
What's needed will come from nVidia, not LG.
Oh. I know nvidia has kernel source for kernel 2.6.36 available right now - we need more than that though right?
Yes, as I mentioned it's the lack of HAL that's stopping it.
I don't understand this. Please can you clarify this for me?
Why I need something from SoC vendor? Any specifications and references for Tegra2 is public (or you can get it on demand). Source code of Tegra2 Linux kernel is also available.
I still think LG should release the HAL for P990 device where all subdevices connected by I2C bus will be described with all registers and address spaces. But I can be wrong and that's I ask you for clarification
Thanks.
LG can't release it, it's up to nVidia. The HAL are currently unreleased.

MIUI FM Radio Works in CM7
Hey folks,
Just finished an epic multi-ROM joyride and ended up back on CM7. While I was digging through Titanium backup today, I found the MIUI FM radio apk was still in my backup folder. So I tapped it in Titanium, tapped Run, and sure enough it opened and I was able to tune to any local station I wanted. It uses bluetooth, as it does on MIUI, and you need headphones plugged in like every other FM app, but it works just fine. I've been using Root Explorer to try to shoehorn the app into my system because if I try to install the APK I get an "Application not installed" error. For now, I just open it from TB, but that's not really a sustainable option.
Sounds promising can you post the apk file, worth a go to get it in the system file

Here it is. Again, this is the bluetooth FM apk from MIUI rom, restored via Titanium Backup while using CM7 stable on an Evo 4G. It works but I have to open it via TB every time.
Let me know if you get it installed. I think the error results from the fact that it is either unsigned or the signature was lost in the backup process.
Wait, you've been using it on an Evo 4G, a totally different phone to O2X? One that doesn't have missing HAL that lets the sound work on FM radio/bluetooth?
Sheesh.

My apologies, that's what I get for foruming before I drink any coffee. Consider my posts on this thread withdrawn.
tunein is the best radio atm.
Hi, its seems that something changed
look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1243696&page=4
i'm newbie, i can't post there
What has changed exactly?
Why do people see the FM works on stock based ROMs and suddenly assume this is a big new thing?

[Q] Liberty ROM; no voicemail? WTF cookies?

Hi there, I searched the forum for this and couldn't seem to find anything on it, and this had like 20 views and not one reply in the general Q&A section, so here goes;
I have a Droid Bionic on Verizon. I used Pete's one click root app and it worked great. I then loaded the Liberty rom as it was touted to have the best battery life. I love everything about the rom EXCEPT that there seems to be no visual voice mail with it. I don't want/need some fancy overly complicated vvm app like all the ones I found in the marketplace, so I was just wondering how/if I can get this resolved.
I tried downloading the Verizon VVM APK (I just Google searched for it) but then when I opened it, it popped up a message saying that my phone already had VVM on it and to use that one. I'm stuck.
I also just received a new update to my phone OTA, called 5.5.886.XT875. I'm on Android Version 2.3.4, if any of that matters.
This weekend I tried loading the UNLEASHED rom and the BLURRED rom this weekend, but one didn't have a camera app (BLURRED) and the UNLEASHED (which I'm using atm) is just slow and glitchy and I don't like it. I really wanna go back to Liberty but must have vvm for my line of work.
So, does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is there a way to contact a rom developer directly that I'm missing somewhere or something like that? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Try http://rootzwiki.com/forum/81-droid-bionic/
I think the dev spends more time over there.

A Stock FM radio app for Nokia 8 (Unrooted)

Hi all,
Does anyone have a stock FM radio app that will work on new Nokia 8 (Unrooted)
I really miss FM radio,
I don't want to use those wifi/data using streaming radio apps
Thanks,
Torpode...
Hello. As Nokia 8 has S835 it might be possible to hear FM radio by using the Next Radio App. Have you tried this app?
I am waiting my ordered Nokia 8 to ship next week and FM radio is also very important for me.

Hey Asikis !
Unfortunately whenever i tried to search the Next Radio app, it is not visible, when i search on browser from my laptop from my google account, it says This app is incompatible with all of your devices.
I've installed it and tried it, gives the same message.
Im from London, UK.
I think this app is mainly supported in US region. (i may be wrong)
Thats why i was looking for any stock FM Radio app.
I have an Xperia ZR phone. (that was the last phone, after which i have Nokia 8 )
It has a Stock FM radio App, i tried to get that app via ShareiT app, but in ShareiT app, it is not visible for sharing.
so... im still left without FM on my new Nokia 8.
Surprisingly, Nokia 3, 5, and 6 has FM radio. I was wondering if extracting the FM app from those phone's ROM will be of any help.
anyways
Thanks for your reply.

Hi TorpodeBaas. That was also what I was planning to do with my Nokia 8. Side-load the next radio app to the device, install it and test it. But you wrote that you already did this and it didn't work.....right? Did you play with the settings for the region inside the application?
I guess Nokia has probably switched OFF the FM radio functionality. The same situation with Snapdragon 835 and 820 chipsets was true also in US for models like S8 and older S7 etc. But Samsung gave an update and unlocked the functionality and made it working with the next radio app (Samsung didn't provide its own home made FM radio app with that update).
So we can only hope for Nokia to make this working at the future. I haven't received my Nokia 8 yet. And now I have started considering to drop it for a NOKIA 6 or an LG G6....FM radio is a MUST for me.
Need to think wise

Hmm. Can you alternative download it from sites like apkmonk or apksum? I cannot copy links here, I am not yet allowed.
and then transfer it via USB to phone and install it? But first un-install existing version from your device.
Maybe it makes some difference?

Hey,
i downloaded from apk monk http://www.apkmonk.com/download-app/com.nextradioapp.nextradio/5_com.nextradioapp.nextradio_2017-09-12.apk/
and installed it, this time app installed, but when i tried to open, i got following screen.
Btw, i uninstalled the previous Next radio app (one i got from my US friend) the very first time when app crashed while opening
when i tried to subscribe to their updates... i got registration screen, where there is no option as UK in the list of countries.
Loll.
I miss my FM so much, that i carry my Old Xperia ZR with me, just to listen to FM.

If you select another European country, e.g. Germany or Italy, will the app continue and let you tune manually to a frequency? Or even in that case you get the screen that device is not compatible?
I remember when I installed last year the Next Radio app (via side loading) to my HTC A9 (that has FM radio built in but its own app was crap) it also asked me to select my country. Greece was not available so I selected Italy or Germany or something like this. Maybe I selected USA, do not recall now. After that step I was able to manually tune to a frequency e.g. 100. The only issue I had was that if I wanted to tune to 101,8 it was not possible as the app only accepted odd number after comma e.g. 101,7. So i tuned to 101,7 and then press the arrow to go to 101,8 and was working like this fine.
Can you try again and provide your test results?

Damn Nokia then. We cannot do anything, at this time. Nokia or Next Radio (?) has to do something to make it work.....
I have also contacted Next Radio company asking them if app is compatible with Nokia 8 and they have replied the following:
Nokia 8 is not listed to our compatible devices list. You can always check our supported device page here http://nextradioapp.com/supported-devices/
So we cannot do anything at this point... Its a shame that Nokia has removed this option from Nokia 8......Maybe we can bomb their Facebook page with this request

Thats exactly what i am doing !!! trying to find the Nokia 3,5 or 6 ROM/Firmware from somewhere,
so that i can extract the FM radio app from it.
Or if someone has that, can someone get it out via using ShareIt app?
I tried to do the same with my Xperia ZR phone- share the Stock FM radio app. But in ShareIt it wasn't visible
i'll keep you posted, in case im able to get FM app out of Nokia 3,5, or 6
