Hi
Windows is installed in many PCs with different hardware (CPU, graphic card and so on). How is it about mobile phones?
Is somebody interested in porting WP8 on N9?
thanks a lot

Ain't gonna happen my friend, mobiles are very specific as are their OSs installed, porting is high on impossible, and to my knowledge has only happened on the HD2 with any success, this was only possible because the hd2 was a test device for various platforms and its hardware very similar

I really love Windows Mobile OS but my uncle gave me a Milestone for my birthday! I wonder that could anyone have an idea to set up Windows Mobile OS on my Milestone. I think this is a best combination! Maybe I'm so silly but I'm still hoping.
Waiting for news!!!
This would be nearly impossible if not impossible because of the locked bootloader no custom kernel can be loaded to run windows mobile

The nearest approach for windows is "Android windows 7" from android market.
You can use skin which look just like winmo 7 home screen. It's somewhere here.Search forums...

Thanks for all your helps and advice ! Maybe I will use the Windows 7 skin but I still hoping for a complete setup of Win mobile on my device . As you known, many device which use Windows mobile can use Android as the second OS, so why's the device that use Android can't use Windows mobile? The hardware configuration of Milestone is good enough to run Windows mobile 6.5 or maybe above (like Win 7). Why don't Motorola give an unlock bootloader on this device? It will a big problem for many modders in the world
PS: Sorry if my English is so bad.

I have a solution. You should sell the MS for somebody. According to you buy new smartphone that it is supported by WM. Recommending HTC HD 2 or 7
Android is open source so it can be ported to other devices.
WM/WP7 is not open source and can't be ported to other devices that shipped with a different OS i.e. Android. Even if you could it would be illegal to so do.
Android is so much better than WM/WP7 that you must be on some good w&&d if you think otherwise =P Learn to love Android and flash the good ROMs that people have made for Milestone, or sell your phone to someone who can appreciate it and get something that fits you "needs" better.
FYI a bit of searching on XDA would have answered this question without wasting time.
Got this idea tonight , I was thinking about this and im sure that this as been done before , is there anyways to install windows phone on an android device such as Samsung Galaxy s. Also are there some restrictions that could make this not able to do so.
If someone knows any thread or tuts this would be apreciated.
Thanks guys
windows
till now.........we cant flash windows7 os on Samsung galaxys............why u want to switch over android........which is best os in the world.
windows for smartphone came and almost gone, nobody even noticed. Android is amazing and best.

Because windows isn't open source, like android, I think that it impossible to port it to other devices.

Not impossible, it's been ported to HD2. And other phones I believe but i know for sure Windows 7 was not meant to be on HD2
I hate windows phone os
I don't think he was asking or opinions of the OS. I think he was inquiring to see if it was possible. I to would like to try this to see or myself and not take others word for it. I will search for a solution and update this thread with what I find.
Edit: It seems that it is not possible currently. However, there are developers that are working on a solution to that problem The main problem is the hardware that was not intended for Windows that is equipped to run Android OS. Hopefully there is spark at some point. There is a lot of talk though that Microsoft is trying to bully their way into having smartphone manufacturers load thee OS and allowing the consumer to be ale to dual boot. That article can be see over at many tech blogs including Znet.
Till now, there is not any known method to do this. Android OS is the best OS in the world. Almost every application is available for android. Also it is most customisable. I would recommend you to stay with Android and install WP launchers to get windows phone like stuff/looks
It is interesting which ideas we`ve got :good:
In my opinion:
Microsoft is something for my PC @home, and Android have to run on my device ...
One of my friends have one nokia with WP7 ,looks nice and works good ,he says - but for me nothing gets about Android , but it is only my opinion
To ask the thread:
I have never heard of any way to flash WP 7/8 on Android devices ...
Only device that got WP7 and did not run it natively were the Toshiba TG01 and the legendary HD2
So sorry, not happening as it's closed source
if its possible on hd2 its possible on devices using same hardware as of windows phone trying to develop a boot loader which helps wp7 bot on our android , any who one can help us with it ???

´cause lagdroid is only for geeks who got a lot of free time
it is always nice to running multiple OS on one phone,i think we need new bootloader same exactly like cotulla has done for HD2,this sounds good to start request to cotulla,i heard he was working for MAGLDR bootloader in HTC M7,let us see
I just write all my own apps for my WP... Android OS is a little clumsy and I think it's ugly... let me know if anyone finds out how to do this... I'd buy a galaxy in a minute if it weren't for the crappy OS.

Is there a way to install lumia phone's os to android devices like nokia or other device
"◦Multi-core processor support: As reviewers have noted, Windows Phone runs buttery smooth on phones with a single processor. But piggybacking on the Windows core provides support for multiple cores—so we’re ready for whatever hardware makers dream up."
now alot of people have been under the impression that multicore is the minimum for wp8 when i say that is not true!
windows 8 can run on a pentium 4 or intel atom with a single 1ghz then we will see wp8 devices with single cores. the future "minimum spec"
also
"◦More flexible storage: Windows Phone 8 supports removable MicroSD cards, so you can stuff your phone with extra photos, music, and whatever else is important to you, and then easily move it all onto your PC."
the hd7 has a removable storage already. the only way we wont see a port is if the rom is too large for what we already have. this being said and carefully examined they didnt rule it out. but they didnt want to say yes and OEMs cant sell new devices if the older ones keep selling. so they wont "offically bring the update to wp8"
also it is being observed that sdxc cards are working in android phones so storage issues may not be a problem either for us!
here at xda-developers we have been unoffically updating devices for over a decade! so I dont think we are in the dark, our minds have such strong innovative imaginations we can see the light with our eyes closed!
yes its possible...MS has been testing wp8 on older HTC devices. it showed up in some logs which was recently being leaked on the internet
Besides this, wp8 during the summit conference was shown runnng on a nokia qualcomm prototype which isnt likely to be a S4 but older processor
HD7 will also run Windows Phone 9 ! happy !

And 10 too! :highfive:
Oh cmon stop spaming the forum with this crap. Sit tight until its released and then you can talk about possebilities when devs get a hold of a rom
we need the first test wp8 rom to be leaked first .
no one has it now
so its hard to expriment with it

hey keep hope alive lol. but to be completely honest I see it as very possible. the only limitation would be rom. because in reality windows 8 can run on a single processor so can wp8 it just has support for multiple processors. so we can run the hd7 drivers in compalitbity mode! :fingers-crossed:
the difference between wp8 and wp7 is that wp8 has support for newer hardware. this means that wp8 can run on newer hardware but does not mean it cannot run on older hardware.
The reason Windows Phone 8 might be a possibility is because there have been evidence which show that Microsoft was testing Windows Phone 8 builds on the HD7. Lets wait and see what happens.

yeah lets see what happens..afterall wp7 was ported over to the HD2 without a hitch
If wp8 will not work on hd7 I will use the Android phones
As much as I love my HD7 (I still use it for xbox live games and music it's getting pretty long in the tooth now), I'm looking forward to seeing what HTC does with the new OS (WP8) and even Nokia with their PureView tech! The HD7 imo didn't get the same sort of community backing as the HD2 did, i'd almost bet that the HD2 has more chance of seeing a WP8 rom than the HD7 does, but i'm simply having a joke about.
WP8 on the HD7 will most likely depend on whether or not NT kernel drivers can be written for it. This probably won't be until HTC roms get leaked.

Is it possible to run an actual Windows Rom in an android device? I remember hearing about this probably a few years ago with wp7, I could've sworn people had figured it out. I've got an AT&T note and miss Windows, but not enough to permanently switch to a Windows device. Any ideas?

Ignore the genius who says never. It comes down to hardware support. If you had two phones on the market with identical hardware, one running Windows Phone, one running Android, then you might be able to switch the bootloaders and operating systems. WP8 has a new secure boot which I know less about. WP7 didn't, but some of the bootloaders were still locked.
So yes, it's possible, but I don't know of a compatible Android device. The first I'd look at would be the ATIV S and the Galaxy S III, but I expect they're very different. There are a few slightly more complicated options but they're not really worth mentioning because.. developers just aren't interested.
I'm sure you could do it if you were willing to give up the rest of your life for a while. Shame isn't it? You'd think MS would release Windows Phone as a download for existing popular handsets in the same way Canonical is doing for their fledgling OS.
has anyone tried to port ubuntu touch on a goophone with a mtk 6572 and 1gb of ram?
its never going to happen. why you ask
well because i assume people bought a goophone to pretend they have an iphone? therefore i doubt most people would want to
also (i don't know much) but mtk don't release their kernels so can you port ubuntu to the phone without a kernel? probably not
Thanks, i did't know mtk is not releasing the kernel.
It's a pity,the phone has a good hardware
